Every time I'm in town on business, there must be a dinner at Harpoon Larry's! Food is great, atmosphere is great, and so is the service. The salt water fish tank is a nice touch too! Get there early! That parking lot fills up fast!

Came around the time when it was busy but customer service was really great pn serving. Food coming left and right. My order came the way it was ordered in a timely manner. My wife got me on the rum runner which is really good i ordered a second one. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is is great to bring your friends or family here. I will come back again for everuthing and they also give you a little bit about the history of the place which is also nice to hear before you order if your a new coming so come on down this place is amazing.

I love Harpoon Larry's! I just wish they had more parking spaces. It can be crowded at dinner time on the weekends, but the food is good so it makes sense. Reservations can be helpful, you can also get food to-go from there. They have a good raw bar as well as the regular menu.

Bad experiences with my last 2 visits. One visit my flounder with stuff crab meat tasted real fishy and I had to trash it. Yesterday my crab cake sandwich had mold on the bottom bun and I didn't notice until it was pretty much gone. So you can say I ate mold for lunch

Had the Mediteranean grouper special. One of the top 5 seafood dishes I've ever had. Very fun restaurant. Lively crowd. Went with business colleagues, however, could have easily gone with family.

Wonderful place to eat.

Wonderful place to eat.
We stopped by for a quick bite, 70 oysters (10 Rockefeller, 12 raw, 48 steamed) and a couple beers later we left quite satisfied.

Our server, Cassie was delightful. Fast and friendly, she was on point all night. Having someone so professional always adds to the evening.

The food was very good. We went on Wednesday and the host told us the wine was half off. The waitress charged us full price and when I asked her about it she told me it was not half off. Only the house wine. Would have been 5 stars if the host didn't give us bad info or if they had owned the mistake.

Outstanding crab legs; best I ve had. Nice, large but average-tasting fried shrimp. I found the hush puppies to be light on flavor; the red potatoes were excellent and cooked to perfection. One at our table quite enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Good beer selection.

Food is always great. Last two times we went, we sat at bar. Dave and Trevor's service was perfect, the two girls working the bar totally ignored us, on both trips there. They are too interested in the younger generation, especially Lauren, she passed us numerous times and never helped us. Stay away from her.

This is the only restaurant that I have to go to, when visiting friends in the area. Everything is so fresh and delicious, staff is friendly and location was clean . Try the spicy shrimp you will not be sorry!

As much as the

As much as the
restaurant was overloaded when we got there, I was surprised to have been met with the level of professionalism that I was. Colin, a host, was very clearly an excellent and organized introduction to this restaurant, and as we came in at peak hours and knew it was already busy, we saw him juggling guests that put their names down, guests that were waiting to put their names down; and guests that may not have already been aware of this policy as others were blocking the signs. Our server was absolutely amazing as other guests were rude, aggressive, and excessive as they were demanding many accommodations without empathy. I couldn t help but feel for staff that were doing the best they could as I don t live locally but saw them just trying to help... and keep up with any extra company. I have worked in many industries both as a worker - and as a boss - and I want you to acknowledge the professionalism I had the pleasure of experiencing between our server, Abby, and our host, Colin. As a human who has worked in food service and as a human who has managed these kind of skilled workers, I want this company to acknowledge these two. It has been a hectic night, but professionalism deserves recognition. Thank you, and I can t wait to visit Abby and Colin again. Thank you.

Went to the restaurant for dinner with two friends. Had never been to the new restaurant on j clyde blvd., always patronized the place when it was off mercury Blvd. Parking was a bit tight but it was dinner time. One could dine inside or out. All the staff had masks and we were greeted and seated quickly. I had a rum runner drink with the 151, and trust me....one and your done! I had the shrimp and grits meal and an extra side of sweet potato fries. OMG! My friends enjoyed their meals and we liked the decor of the building. Our server, travis, was great and very attentive. Overall a very good meal and experience despite being in the age of the coronavirus.

A true Southeastern Virginia gem. Great seafood at reasonable prices. Laid back atmosphere and very friendly staff.

When our friends and family visit they always want to go to Harpoon Larry's.

The hush puppies are awesome!

I am partial to this location because my daughter works here and it has been one of our favorite seafood venues since we moved to Hampton Roads. While it may be a little pricey, the quality of the food, especially the raw bar is well worth it. They get busy, but don't let that stop you from coming in for some good food at lunch or dinner.

So first review I have every written. I really wanted to love this place the decorations and atmosphere where amazing .Being a local who enjoys seafood had passed by since opening the new place every day on my way to and from work. So when the wife said please let's try something different then our usual seafood spot.I said sure let's try Harpoons. So I have a family of five ages ranging from 12-2 called to make sure it was a family atmosphere and of course it was. Everything went perfect at first prices where higher then I have seen even at some of the fanciest places in town with water front views. Of course our luck of the straw we got put next to the table with a really loud drunk girl. No big deal we all had that friend lol ,but still ok with that it is a bar and restaurant after all. Sever was amazing young man. He had brought me a side salad which was great not A big amount but worthy of noting as good. Then about 15-20 minutes later, now we have gotten to know the drunk young lady a lot more wow. Here comes our food. We had ordered two kids meals priced decent I thought until he handed me the plate to pass on. I saw the pain in his eyes as he was nervous I also I'm a local manager and pay close attention to customer service and communication. I looked and wow 3 whole shrimp yes 3 shrimp both plates for my 9 and twelve year old. I believe I made a commit did some role of the plate as you where brought them to the table?? Then I looked down at my 8 inch shrimp po-boy that was stuffed with lettuce and additional filling and it had four shrimp on it. Are you kidding me , so a 9 year and a 12 year yes I get it they are close to needing a bigger meal can be full on a plate of 3 shrimp and a very minimum amount of fries. Not mention my po-boy that was 6 dollars more then the competitions in towns for a total of 14 bucks had only 4 shrimp. I was totally in sock . I asked the wife how her 25-26 dollars worth of steamed seafood was she showed me her wooden bowl covered plated and there was two of the four oysters that had nothing in the shell and one clam that had nothing in it. All I can say is wow 70 bucks later 84 with tip it was not the servers fault we left went to McDonald's across the street for the 9 an 12 year old . Then road down to the usual old faithful place ordered 2 shrimp po-boy's which after telling them my story and trying to laugh it off they said well you will be glad to know we have no less the 13-14 medium size shrimp on our six to seven inch bun but sometimes can get 17-19 shrimp on there. It is hard enough to find the extra money now a days to take a family of five out I would appreciate not being ripped off ,and have no idea how they could ever receive high ratings please do not take this review lightly save your hard earned money . That's where the bar thing comes in you can drown your sorrows in booze and forget about the portions of food that was brought out.

Here for work, off late, stopped by for takeout 8pmish. Gumbo &quesadillas to go. The bland watery gumbo came in shallow tray that spilled in paper bag & on seat. When I opened it, soggy hush puppies and 4 grilled shrimp thrown in the soup that tasted like terrible canned gumbo. Who allowed this to go out the door? Is this what the locals boast about? Disappointed with what I thought would be a tasty good meal...did not happen. Should've posted a pix of it, darn

Been there twice, once a year ago (2017) & again in late June 2018. Last year everything was excellent. Was very surprised on the June trip; waitress was very good but our meals were just mediocre @ best. Scallops were over cooked & a bit gummy, flounder had almost no flavor, wife was disappointed with her scallop as well. Not sure what happened to quality.

Great staff and nice atmosphere. Food taste good only problem it gave my wife and I bad case of diarrhea. My stomach started bubbling after eating the key lime pie. I had the shrimp dinner side of fries with Pepsi and water. My wife had Shrimp and Grits very greasy with the brownie dessert. She also had the Muscato wine and water.
