Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel Review

My family came for a convention held in the area. We were mostly pleased with everything. The only hangup was breakfast. While there were lots of options, the quality was lacking. We found a moldy grape while dishing up my son's plate. The scrambled eggs were heavy and dense. (Not the nicest!) Considering the bill would have come to $44 for 3 people (my 5 year old son shoild have been free, according to the man at the desk the night before), the breakfast felt like a complete rip off. Luckily, breakfast was covered for the event we attended.

Everything is SO clean. Great friendly staff. Highly recommend!

I recently attended a luncheon held at the Sheraton West Des Moines. The rooms we used, a smaller room for an early workshop, and a larger room for a luncheon were both nice. AV operation was easy, the plated lunch was good, and service was polite and fast. There was construction in the lobby that we knew would be happening, so that was not ideal, but that was communicated to our group prior to the date. Restrooms were clean and well-stocked. We have had this luncheon in several locations around the Des Moines metro area in the past few years and I think we will plan to return to this location in the future. We were pleased with how much parking was available for attendees and how easy it is for out-of-town guests to find.

Nice hotel. Recently remodeled. Good bar and breakfast.

I stayed here while in Des Moines to go through MEPS and the rooms were very nice and the service was fantastic.

The room was clean and modern. The bathroom was nice and clean too. Beds were comfortable. Reasonably priced. I would stay again.

I make it here at least once a year for business meetings. The facility and associated meals are always very good. The staff is always great. Sorry have not stayed in the rooms in years.

Customer service seemed too busy to answer simple questions at check-in. Be prepared to pay for standard amenities that you normally get free at other hotels, WiFi $6, Parking $10, Breakfast $14.95. The room wasn't as nice as a Comfort Inn or other places that I have stayed. I will not stay in another Sheraton, other less pricey hotels with better service, space and amenities for the money are out there.

Clean rooms and helpful and cheerful staff. We booked four rooms for two nights as part of a business trip. Breakfast was well attended and of good quality. The bar has good food options and the bartenders were friendly. The hotel is starting to show its age, but not in a bad way. All in all a good choice, not just because of the waterfall in the lobby. Would definitely stay here again, and it seems like a great place for seminars or events.

I attended a company meeting there and the staff was very attentive and helpful. Food was great.

They follow an outdated business model. Nice room but they nickel and dime guests. They charge for parking which is not covered and with no valet. They also charge for wifi in the rooms. There is absolutely no reason to stay here if there is somewhere else available.

The Sheraton Hotel was great! It looked very beautiful and high class yet affordable! We attended a Wedding Expo which has multiple vendors in multiple rooms with plenty of spare room so you didn't feel like sardines.

The hotel is clean and the staff was very friendly, willing to assist with all of my questions.

Nice, spacious room. Very clean. The staff was amazing, and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. Didn't want to leave!

Nice size bedroom. Lots of room for clothes in drawers and closets. Starbucks coffee for the coffee maker. Bathroom was small and lights were on the outside which was annoying. Could lightly hear the elevator music from inside the room. Bath robe was stained so I would recommend looking them over before using. Otherwise room was clean. Bedsheets were too hot and air conditioner appeared to be throttled so it couldn't get the room to mid 60s like I like. Friendly staff. Location of hotel was handy for exploring Des Moines. Was there for an iCubs game. Price seemed normal for the area and room received. Only minor complaints so I would stay again.

How this place is currently getting four stars is a mystery to me. I am a frequent business traveler and this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in lately. It all started with having to fill out a guest card at the front desk, even though I am a Starwood Preferred member. Why? Then I get to ride the painfully slow elevator through floors of stained brown carpet to arrive at a matchbox size room. I thought, "At least it's a corner room." Ordered food delivery and it was held at the front desk. If I would have known that, I would have just went out. Watched TV until the rain knocked i t out. Tried to use internet with several hundred softball girls staying here. Yeah, no. Then the best part of the corner room is that there is an ice machine directly outside my door with a dozen assholes filling coolers at 5 a.m. If I could give negative stars I would. Thanks for staying!

Room was nice, great location. Internet cost $12.99 a night though.

This is a very nice hotel. I'd stay here if you were visiting the 515! There was a Playboy Club here in the mid-eighties.

Had a meeting here for my company. Very attentive. Great atmosphere. Good food. I am local so I did not use a room to stay over, but the meeting part was great !

Really beautiful, newly renovated Hotel. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. My only complaint is the bathroom is on the small side, only one person at a time and having three girls this required some time management.

Enjoyed our stay. Nice room. No free breakfast which was disappointing. Had to pay for wifi,disappointing.

The location was good. Rooms clean. The customer service was extremely disappointing!!! Before arrival I called to check that our room was ready and the front desk had an attitude, very unprofessional!! Checking in was another upsetting experience. And when calling down to front desk for questions or service it was all attitude making it feel as though we the guests were an inconvenience to the staff. All attitude all the way until check out time! We will never stay here again!!!

Attended the Iowa IT Symposium. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food served at lunch was very good. The hotel was very well maintained and clean.

I went to the Sheraton for a convention, so I cannot speak to the overall stay here. The common areas were clean and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Decor felt outdated.

Seemed a bit dirty and needing an update with stains on the couch in our room and the pull out bed from the couch was dirty in one of our groups rooms. They had to ask for clean sheets. The breakfast buffet was expensive for the quality of food available.

Stayed here and paid for our trip on Expedia. They said they needed my card for incidental purchases, but they charged the whole room plus another breakfast to my account after I had already paid for them through Expedia. So basically I paid for our stay twice!

Very fast elevators, awesome indoor waterfall, good food.

I loved the weight room they've got. Super awesome and that's saying something because I hate exercising so much. Their exercise machines use futuristic screens while exercising. I loved it.

Servers at meal were very nice, polite staff, clean restroom.

They made us pay $10 a car to park in the hotel parking lot. Who does that? They have a huge parking lot and it's not like the hotel is downtown.

What a great hotel. There's a waterfall in the lobby. 10 floors and really cool elevators. The rooms are really clean and I have no issues when I stay there. My travel partner had an issue with HVAC in their room and was immediately given another one. That's great customer service.

Wuaooo the service is terrible, they never clean the rooms, until after 8pm, if 8pm. They do not allow a dog service, nothing free, breakfast included, the management staff should work in the stores, they threaten you for anything, that is terrible, you feel that you are in jail. They do not allow you to take photos and have them printed. They follow you throughout the hotel. They treat guests very badly. This hotel should close the Sheraton chain, it's a shame to bear that name. Wuaooo and more. .. !!

No refrigerator included... They say call to the front desk to get one. There's no refrigerators at all, we've had someone asking for 3 nights. The TV's are wired through the cable box... Meaning, no other HDMI ports work, and if you replace the cable box input, no buttons on the TV or the remote work, except the power button ONLY ON THE REMOTE. I repeat, they make it purposely convoluted to connect external devices. 1/10 I know sheredan is a brand name, and this place looks nice... But beneath the surface it is at best sub par.

Very nice hotel. Has a large Central Atrium that all the rooms face.

Staff was friendly. The room was newly remodelled, and the hotel was in the process of a complete renovation. No fridge or microwave in the room. No machine on our floor which would have been nice to know upon checking in - had to ask the front desk where to find ice.

Check in was fairly quick. You do need a card for incidentals. They charge to park in their lot $10 per night. The room was nice and smelled clean. There was a hairdryer that didn't work very well. Basic cable channels that had mostly fuzzy pictures. Room service available, no free breakfast. Free coffee in room. Overall, pricey, but decent amenities if you can afford it.

This 3.5 star hotel is nothing compared to 2.5 & 3 star hotels. The beds here are so hard you better like sleeping on concrete. And don t get me started on the breakfast! I ve had better tasting food at Comfort Suites (Choice Hotels). This hotel gets 2 stars from me.

Theron Sheraton Hotel was located in a great area of West Des Moines. The room were nice, quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and anxious to make your stay comfortable. Everyone I came into contact with went above and beyond. The breakfast on the Club level was excellent and again, the service impeccable.

Really beautiful place, built in white-noise machine with a tall waterfall-like water feature. The rooms are spacious and comfy. Loved the couch in there. Didnt love the channel options but I'm not big on tv anyways so didn't watch anything. Really a nice place with pool and gym, restaurant options. My two minor complaints is I couldn't find the stairs when i wanted to walk, and a group of teens made the last couple nights louder than I'd like. Overall a really great experience.

Not the best Sheraton but good stay. Only issue some of the front desk staff where not helpful. Rooms clean and nice facilities.
