Great location, close to metro stops and Times Square. The rooms were clean, but the reception didn't have the most welcoming of staff.
I do not normally write a review until after my stay but this time felt a need to write one straightaway.
My husband and myself are visiting New York for a very special anniversary and wow have this hotel made it special I would like to say a massive thank you to all the managers at reception I remember a couple of names Winston and Daniel , yes we had a delay on the room but hey these things happen but the room we were allocated on the 42nd floor was an upgrade and fabulous the treat of having breakfast during our stay was a lovely touch and the bottle of bubbly and strawberries brought to our room brought a lump to my throat.
Thank you all so much
Nice hotel with at a great location. Friendly staff, can see times Square right as you walk outside the hotel. Rooms are a little cramped, but it's New York and space comes at a premium. I was visiting family staying there so I didn't have much interaction with the staff, but my family member was happy.
Room decor was dated and WiFi in rooms wasn't free. Everything else was good.
I go when my union having a function . it's beautiful.
Very comfortable hotel. This hotel has strategic position. You can reach times squeare easily. The breakfast is good too,,,, the service room so far is the best. Highly recommend for you to spent your night in new york city. See ya New york!
Parking was a pain, but where else in NY isn't? Outstanding hotel otherwise!
Lovely hotel and so convenient for Times Square and other attractions. The bed was too comfortable and we had difficulty getting up in the morning. Would definitely recommend this hotel
Whoever is giving this hotel high ratings needs to have a reality check. For $300/night you might be impressed walking into the lobby but that's about where the glamour ends. For context, I'm in hotels 100+ nights each year, 2/3 of that for work and the other part personal. I've been a Marriott top tier elite for 9 years now so I consider myself to be realistic about what value one should expect for their money.
The first thing I noticed in the room is that the A/C didn't work. It wasn't super hot but it was 74 degrees F (23C) and somewhat humid, smelled a bit like mildew. Next, the lounger chair was threadbare with chunks of fabric worn completely through. The bathtowels were rags, falling apart in torn strips at the edges. The icing on the cake was when I went to put a sandwich in the mini bar fridge and the door fell off - I mean, it wasn't even attached, it just fell flat off the unit and landed on the floor. I've attached photos.
I called the front desk and they seemed not only apathetic but when I asked for a fridge to be brought to my room I was told it's a $50 fee (per night). First, good luck to any of you that have medication which needs to be refrigerated, I sure hope you budgeted for that expense! Second, for Sheraton to provision shabby, worn out, dilapidated rooms with materials well beyond their useful life on top of charging nuisance fees is deplorable.
I'd certainly never recommend anyone stay here, I know I certainly never will.
PS - I was traveling with work colleagues; one of them checked in at 4P (standard check-in time) but her room wasn't ready until 9PM. My other colleague was asked what company he works for and when he told the front desk associate the reply was "really? why would you guys ever choose to stay here? You must have really low standards." So, at least the employees seem well aware of what a dump this place is.
They hosted the 2018 Flamecon event. It was a nice area.
Fantastic location, very comfortable beds, and a really nice VIP lounge overlooking the city upstairs. Staff were also great, very helpful with directions and understanding the metro! The gym was also pretty well-equipped for a hotel, I was impressed. I truly enjoyed my stay here (Dec 2014). Thank you :)
Smalls rooms, expensibe, dirty and need more maintenance...just see the pictures we want to upgrade to a better room and they no do it
We asked for 2 double beds, i.e. 2 people per bed. Instead we get King singles. For the price that we paid for these rooms, this is not acceptable.
Old, small room, not a luxurious place for a five star ranking
Safe haven. Clean. Very small bathroom. Don't stamp parking. Expect to pay about 65 bucks for parking.
Rooms were too good. Also the service provided was awesome
Great hotel and location, but their fitness center doesn't have barbells.
Beautiful building, I only went to the conference rooms so I can't talk about the bed rooms
The Sheraton NY is was well priced. It had good service and was very nice inside. Located only a few blocks from times square.
The location is convenient for either meetings in Manhattan or site seeing. The room itself was reasonably sized. I do have a couple if issues that made my stay less than excellent. 1. The shower didn't work properly. Half the water would come out of the tap and half through the shower head. I brought it to the attention of the concierge who made one phone call to "engineering" and nothing happened. 2. The price of the breakfast is ridiculous. I would recommend you step outside turn right and walk to the Fresh & Co. place which is about 1 mins walk. You'll get a much better breakfast at a fraction of the price.
Room couldn't even fit the room service roll in table. Even in New York where spaces are expected to be small, the place is overpriced for very average service (e.g., a regular can of ginger ale is $6, which would be fine if the service experience was world class, which it certainly wasn't). It did not feel like a 5-star hotel.
Have stayed here consistently on our almost yearly winter vacation trips to manhattan. Great location. Pleasant staff. Rooms are tight but clean and organized. Beds quite firm and comfortable. Convenient to most anywhere in the city
Nicole - a true star, amazing service and was able to get everything we needed. The level of professional service was incredible, made to to feel very valued and most welcome.
Facilities good, location is fantastic and room had amazing views
Everything was perfect the staff were all lovely and friendly. Clean hotel and very accessible and close to everything in the city.
Great hotel in a great location. It cannot get any better than this. 5****
The room was okay, though the bedsheets were a little stiff and had weird bumps. Staff was not terrible, but also not outstanding. Location was okay but a bit of a walk.
Nice rooms. Good lounge and service. Issue with bedding. Took a while, but was corrected .
Pretty much the worse experience I have ever had in a hotel. The staff was so so and they charge you for everything. Even for things you didn t even use.
NOTHING RECOMMENDED. Lousy. Old, dirty, expensive for the service provided, even the club lounge food is terrible.
Grandiose hotel, bang average rooms, considering the cost.
Used to be nice, now they don't allow anyone to sit unless you're staying at the hotel
The hotel is excellent.
Lovely rooms and great location.
The location of this hotel is awesome. I feel like I'm close to all my points of interest every time I stay here. The staff is also very friendly and kind which i appreciated a lot considering how hit-or-miss service is in NYC..... I never woke up early enough for breakfast so I can't comment on it (I like to sleep until noon-ish on vacations). I would love to come back again
Very nice building but room service is a little slow sometimes.
Hotel staff were helpful, the room was very dusty and needed additional cleaning before we were comfortable but they were accommodating, i suppose things get overlooked when hotel is so busy. Hats off the the bellhop - total legend, great chat and personality.
Very nice hotel great location good service. Room was great, the bed eas very confortable. The water pressure was very weak but we were on the 47th floor. Otherwise a wonderful stay.
Nice location, GREAT gym. Staff was wonderful as well
Really lovely hotel. The rooms are big and comfy and the hotel is in a prime spot. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Always enjoy my stay at this hotel.
Great location with easy access to subway. Clean hotel with friendly staff; many amenities in the lobby area - very convenient for a business meeting.
Too big and busy for my tastes but rooms are clean, great views and staff are attentive. I prefer quieter hotels and the lobby was crazy busy but this is a good hotel and well worth staying.
The rooms are smaller but seems that s what most NY hotels have. The bathroom was also small and not any luxury. Location is awesome and everything looks near to the hotel. To have breakfast One needs to book before 11 pm previous day and was kind of a hassle (plus one needs to be in the room).
Gym has all the machines but a very weird room design and is busy in prime time. I struggled to get the cardio machine two days.
Overall it s a okay hotel for business trip, not for personal vacation.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city. First time in NYC for the ball drop.
I had a difficult time deciding between 4 and 5 stars. We had a wonderful 5-day experience, starting with our gracious check-in person. Our 50th floor room was small, but stylish with a killer view towards The Park. The bed was very comfortable. The small bathroom made the most of limited space. Guest services helped significantly by providing a small refrigerator for leftovers from our restaurant meals. Much appreciated. Generally, the cleaning staff did a fine job except we were left without coffee cups on our getaway morning. Arghh! Finally, the lobby and bar area just aren't of the caliber this hotel deserves. The bar/lounge staff are nice, but this area needs a major facelift to bring it into the 21st century.
Very good location in downtown New York, close to everything, good service
I waited 7 minutes for an elevator to bring me up to the lounge and then gave up. Rooms are adequate, but they don't come with water bottles like every other Sheraton. Service seems fine though if you're calling, you're likely to reach an unanswered phone after the operator redirects you.
An awesome place to go with your partner (kid/kids)
Pro-Magnificent location, good attention from the staff and everything very clean.
The double beds are very small for normal people.
Visited with friends at the bar following MLA conference. Bar staff provided excellent service.
Very nice birthday wish and cake when I check in on Aug 12. And I staying top floor hotel 50th as VIP.. very warm and sweetie . Thank you for 1st visiting NY.. surprise memory
I am staying here for a business trip through the us. The worst place so far. First night was Friday, it was so noisy that I couldn't sleep before 3 am.
Then my wife did some online shopping. The delivery service was 10$ per parcel!!!
The gym is a joke. No sauna as advertised on the website.
Commuting from my floor to the lobby has to be planned. It takes about 10 minutes no kidding.
I also arrived at 12 am and had to pay 50$ for an early check in!!!
Set among elegant buildings in Midtown, this polished landmark hotel designed by flamboyant architect Morris Lapidus is across the road from a subway station and 9 minutes' walk from Rockefeller Center.
Refined rooms have flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi (fee); some offer sofabeds. Upgraded rooms add city views, and suites feature separate living areas. Club-level quarters provide access to a lounge with complimentary continental breakfast and snacks. Room service is available.
There's a ritzy restaurant, and a plush cafe and bar, in addition to a fitness center with spa treatments.
Beautiful, I felt so appreciated and welcome to be apart of this great union that looks out for the best interest of its members,,
The lobby and elevators are impressive. The room was comfortable except I couldn't get it to cool down below 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Engineers where called to look at my A/C. They adjusted the B.E.S., so the room got a degree cooler. Some of the furniture was nasty and absolutely worn out. The closet door and handle where low end garbage. The walls had multiple signs of wear and abuse. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain properly most of the time. I figured out it was a venting prpblem caused with the sink's drain. The staff was very polite and friendly.
Rooms are really clean and updated. Room service is pretty attentive. Location is a good deal and overall value of this place impressed me. It's not luxurious but expect above average for average prices
That was a very pleasant stay. The staff was very professional and the service impeccable.
I just happened to meet some friends. The lobby is nice, and the employees very welcoming.
Clean, friendly hotel. 5 mins walk to the heart of Times Square.
The hotel has a nice lounge for meeting people and having a drink.
If you stay here you need to order in advance so you should get the best price because it is expensive but well worth it
Very disappointed with the service we received from check-in. Rude and aggressive and we have filed a formal complaint because the ordeal cost us extra time and money that we had not planned on spending.
