Great shopping! A little construction noise but it s a city after all.
Great shopping! A little construction noise but it s a city after all.
Union square is being remodeled at the moment and is a bit of an eye sore. They have ice skating on at the moment which looks fun!
Tiny square lined with big American department stores (mostly New York syndicates). Nothing impressive here
A busy but lovely Union Square is right at the city center with Tourist Buses, HOHO (Hop-On, Hop-off) buses, Cable cars (including the famous Hyde to Powell Line) running across every way.
They have some decent eating joints and cafe s around and in front of the Big Macy s Store.
You can just sit and relax on the benches or hop on to any of the buses or cable cars for a nice city tour.
Me and my friend parked our car in a public parking right underneath the Union Square ground and rode the cable car standing on the outer foot paddle. It was a thrilling ride considering the fact that we were doing that in the US which has one of the most strictest laws on traffic regulations in the world. Even got a ticket for street cleaning time violation.
Need more seating. Nice place to take a load off the shopping feet!
Parking is a mess and crazy expensive, the place is not so clean and the parking garage smelled like a septic tank. We could not wait to get out too bad this beautiful city is falling victim to its mess and homeless situation.
Le Colonial is such an interesting restaurant. As you walk up to it in the alley you are immediately transported to another time and place. The courtyard seating is softly lit with overhead lanterns. Inside is more energetic. We were not able to visit the lounge due to a private party.... It sounded like a good time up there! We shared the pot stickers and pork skewers for appetizers, none were left. Entrees included the chicken soup filled with delicious goodies, garlic noodles, roasted pork, sea bass and a beef dish. All worthy dishes and nothing left to take home. If you have room left, definitely order dessert. The ice creams are so creamy and rich. Cheese cake too.
Nice place for shopping , walk around, eating area in SF, and where are all the major hotel located as well.
Good place for shopping but very crowded. Not easy to find a reasonable parking area.
A very fun place to visit, lots of restaurants with varying price ranges, great stores to shop at, but very limited street parking. There are several parking garages, but get ready to shell out money for hefty parking fees
Fun spot to stop and catch our breath on a walk through the city. Thos little girl was excited to get out of her jogger and stretch her legs.
It's an area filled with stores, plazas, and museums it's an area that you must visit when coming to San Francisco especially if you want to shop.
It's okay, I guess. Personally it looks like SF has seen better days.
Nice place but not too much to look at. You can get coffee and there are plenty of places to eat around there
Beautiful plaza to shop with great views. You can ride the cable car back to fisherman's wharf from here
Great shopping! The coffee bar employs visiting Irish students from Berkeley which makes for good polite chatter
Nice area for shopping and chilling. You can find places to sit and eat too. Beautiful typical city at night. Public transport options to get there are great but I used a taxi.
Endless shops! There's always something to do in Union Square and is a short walk to many of the major attractions around San Francisco. I always love to spend my day here as well as walking around the neighboring Chinatown and getting food at the Ferry Building a couple of blocks down.
Festive environment on this new years day. Historical monuments are very informative.
Union Square is a public square opened in 1850 and is home to the Dewey Monument.
Good place to visit for shipping or holidays. Lots of stores around and good food in nearby restaurants. Went there just before Christmas and found big, lovely Christmas tree. Can be too crowded at times.
Lots of designers store there. If you the type who likes to shop for designer clothes and etc. Union Square is the place to go.
Small collection of Star Wars memorabilia and close view of 2 Goldenglobe awards for the Clone Was in 2013 & 2014! Lifesize Darth Vader, K-2SO, and R2-D2!!! And not to mention, Yoda fountain outside to pay respect to the wise one... LOL...
Ate out side amongst the dirty tables, as the tables weren't cleared quickly the pigeons on mass swooped in to send any remnants of leftovers across the area. Be quicker to clear next time :(
Relaxing location. Lovely in the sun. A good open space with some light foliage and some shade. A lot of main stream shops around.
Pretty clean. Got to be on alert for strange characters who may not be all there. A bit too noisy.
Awesome stores but lots of homeless people living around there on the streets.
It's UNION SQ..what is there to say. Great food and shopping.
Union Square and surrounding area is one of the largest collections of department stores like Macy s, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, and beauty salons in the U.S. Union Square a major tourist destination so avoid pickpockets :)
Lots of fuzz over nothing. It's nice to see but nothing much to do. Better places in SF.
It was beautiful with all the Christmas lights and the big Christmas tree. However it was incredibly crowded which made it slightly stressful with kids.
Wow whats the big deal a square downtown they call Union. Pretty lame dont expect free iphones macbooks or nikes, but get ready for the wave of san Francisco Homeless drug users or credit card swipers or dumpers
It's not much of a park, really. It's a big concrete square sitting on top of a parking garage. Unless there's something going on, it's not much more than grabbing a coffee and some nosh from the acceptable cafes in the opposite corners and sitting for a bit. One nice thing is that there's a discount theatre ticket place on the Powell side.
I always enjoy staying near Union square. Cool place to hang out and meet me and interesting people. so much shopping close by. Very touristy, so heads up for those that don't enjoy that.
Nice and interesting walk, 1 time event, stores still outrageously overpriced.
Was fun good walks, homeless are there also"just so you know"
Good place and must visit. One of the must see place in sfo
Love shopping and eating in Union Square. Always feel safe walking around.
This is the perfect place to use when meeting friends in San Francisco. The heart sculptures are a great addition and there are lots of shops, cafes and restaurants close by.
Visited it by chance. There was an art show going on. Experience was memorable to say the least.
Amazing place to soak up sun before 5 and people watch or read a book.
It's a concrete square in the middle of some tall buildings.... What do you expect ?
Clean beautiful area in the middle of the main shopping area in downtown San Francisco.
Union Square plaza is the heart of the retail shooping area in San Francisco.
The plaza unifies mayor venues for hotels, luxury stores, art , culture and restaurants.
All year long diferent social or cultural events take place in this cosmopolitan and multicultural square plaza.
This was my first time here, and I really liked the place
Amazing I was born in SF I haven't been down to the for city to shop or just look & people watch for ages. What a wonderful night!!!
A lovely clean square in the centre of all the high end shops. You can sit on one of the many benches or have a coffee in the cafe. Great Central location with a variety of shops.
Beautiful square... interesting City Hall n wonderful Hotel n Macy's... all nearby. Convenient hopon-hopoff sight-seeing bus too
Cute area, has a bathroom and a tour bus area. Close to market street
Art works great
Friendly staff
Wonderful
.....much to see and shop
City center of san Francisco. On weekends here u cam catch any musical program
Very open plaza, never too busy and there always seems to be a place to sit and relax. Appreciate the open space.
The square itself is only a block wide on both sides. Not as large scale as many other places in NYC.
Pretty close to a lot of stores, I mostly stop at Union Square when going to the Apple Store.
Nice central location, pretty close to Chinatown (specifically the entrance through the Dragon s Gate). Just a block away is Boba Guys, which always has a long line.
Not sure how many trolley or bus stops are close by Union Square, but a decent number of lines seem to pass by.
Seems like the area has recently has undergone construction.
Nice place to walk around if you're visiting San Francisco.
Love this area especially between Thanksgiving and New Years
Great park, full of tourists, always has some art. Not a bad place to park your car.
We always shop in this place because it has a wide selection of retail shops and stores. There are also food stalls in the area. I definitely recommend this place.
Great shops and full of interesting people. Feels like being in New York there.
A colourful mixture of people, Natives, residents, city workers, San Francisco First Responders and tourists all surrounded by exclusive shopping, world class dining, fancy hotels, traffic and San Francisco history! Enjoy!
Fun place & Plenty of shops. After shopping have a seat, look around, take in the scenery.
Beautiful place to visit, the Christmas lights are very bright and creates a great holiday experience. During the winter season there tends to be an ice skating rank that is fun to do and watch. ;)
There are a lot of stores from low priced corporate stores to exclusive high end stores.
A lot of places to eat too! Fast food or wine and dine it s just one google search away!
If you are visiting be careful with the locals there, most of Then are friendly but some could get out of hand and people who live in San Francisco understand this, and typically ignore them.
Totally AWESOME. We visited a number of businesses: Macy's, Apple, DSW, and St. Francis Hotel among other smaller stores. We enjoyed the environment and the friendly people.
Just a cool place to go to if you're in SF. The shopping is on the more mediocre side though. The boutiques are a bit all over the place compared to some other metropolitan centers.
Always a great view from the sky terrace on the 8th floor of Macy's.
Wonderful little square. Lots of shops surrounding the square. A numerous restaurants to choose from. Loved just walking around and window shopping.
Went to the cheesecake factory on top of Macy's. Fantastic views and great food.
San Francisco! The buildings, the people, the cold air. It is exactly how you expect it.
It s not the actual square that makes Union Square so interesting and attractive- it s the people who come there and the shops and other attractions nearby. I will say we enjoyed spending time on the 3rd floor window of Starbucks, seated facing the Square.
Great place to hang out. Lot of parking right under the union square. Shopping stores around the square.
It's rather crowded yet again it's a nice place to take pictures and enjoy a good view.
All of the high end shops are conveniently located and the city tours gather in this spot. You can get alot done as a tourist by visiting this area.
Christmas is always beautiful up at Union square with the Christmas tree and ice skating ring
Atmosphere only , had to leave for something to drink , not the best setup , Sanfrancisco should re evaluate cafes
Right in the middle of all the fun. Great place to catch a tour on a double decker open top bus(Deluxe). Variety of places to eat. Top designer shops surrounding square. Nice place to sit and watch the san Francisco lively culture and meet tourist from everywhere.
