This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Beautiful grand reception rooms overlooking the river with lovely gardens. Rooms with balcony to sit and watch the river traffic make this a truly lovely place to stay in Bangkok. We will return.

Overall the hotel was excellent. I do think that the Spa area needs some updating and is no longer on a par with a number of the other Shangri-La hotels. The hot tub was also out of action which was disappointing.

Room facilities were good, all staff except the lobby service staff were good. Buffet breakfast good and room service food was good but a la carte breakfast was not good, it was, late, cold and not good quality and neither was the afternoon tea, the food was not good and too many sweet dishes, I felt it was not value for money. We appreciated getting a late checkout until 2pm and the spa facilities were good.

staff of the hotel is very helpful and kind. However the final night we could not sleep well as there are few mosquitos in the room.
we were not expecting such an experience from 5star hotel like Shangri-La.

Great service, wonderful rooms fantastic view nice staff, impressed by the high security standards. Very good luggagelogistics by porters/bellboys. the poolarea is terrific but annoyed over some guests who book up chairs by putting belongings on them and then walk away for hours to do whatever before coming back preventing other users, some kind of system with staff-managed sunbed placing would be nicer and more civilized. The check out process was a bit slow otherwise it was a great experience and we will never stay anywhere else in Bangkok in the future!

I stayed only one night, back in June.
The Shangri-la Bangkok is located by the river, easily accessible by Skytrain and boat. It is also close to Chinatown and other touristic hallmarks.
The common areas are lavishly decorated and very well maintained.
The rooms are big and comfortable, with all expected amenities for a five-star hotel, including a Nespresso coffee machine, as well as fresh fruit every day.
The main restaurant has an impressive buffet with many different types of food as expected, quality suffers due to the huge variety.
Service, as expected in a Shangri-La, was perfect: staff is very helpful and professional: always ready to support.

The turndown service was good and the view on the 11th floor was good. Friendly staff.
But when I was told that the guests of Krong Thep Wing didn't taste the breakfast at Shangle Wing, I wanted to try both.

I would have loved to give it a 5 star because of its location and ambience but reducing a star for complexity of navigating between meeting rooms and Building wings. You can't help being lost. Having said that, staff are very helpful and show you the way and you reach your destination walking really long!

#1 Fav place to stay in Bangkok. The breakfast spread is amazing, really nothing wrong with this hotel at all except hat the rooms show the age of the hotel, very well maintained however. I always get a river view room, you can spend hours sitting by the window watching the Chao Praya run life in BKK. Everything is a short Uber ride away, close to the highways. Dont miss the Sunday afternoon Ball room dancing & the high tea. They have ferry's to the near by hotels as well.

Everything was great, except for the smoking scent on the 15th floor common space (the room was non-smoking, though we could smell cigarettes in the corridors, we guessed there are smoking rooms on this floor).

It's just the difference between what I'm looking ...

It's just the difference between what I'm looking for and what the hotel is targeting.
Not a problem for the hotel staff.
The following is just one individual's opinion.
Now it feels like a hotel for Chinese group guests, not for Japanese people.
There is also Japanese display from the previous remnants. .

BTS also looked forward to staying at Riverside soon.
During this period, it was unusually rainy, so it was a policy to value the environment, and it was thankful that the temperature of the rooms and corridors was not too cold.
The bath temperature and shower can be set very hot.
However, the number of towels is insufficient for a stay of 3 persons including a 3-year-old child.
The prepared towels also have an unusually strong chlorine odor.
Breakfast cannot be served unless arranged at the entrance.
Even if you line up, it will be a considerable time until coffee comes. Various kinds of rice are not at such a delicious level.
The corridors are uncomfortable with cigarettes of other customers who leave the room door open.
Requests for room service will not come for more than 40 minutes. Wait a long time even if I contact you again.
The way to get to the BTS can also be avoided from the rain and heat by moving inside the hotel (from Shangri-La Wing to Krung Thep Wing), but there is no such guide or wrong guide.
There is no guidance on the homepage.

In some places, there are nice staff but they are not cost effective.
The main target is group customers from China, and the comfort that we imagine is
Not very enjoyable (although the building is quite large)

From a hotel of such class you automatically expect a remarkable, flawless stay. Unfortunately, this wasn t.
First of all: three times we had an issue with the safebox: at first it ran out of batterie At first it ran out of power, so we had a mechanician sent to our room to fix it, what somewhat disorganised our day whilst we had to ubexpectedly postpone all our activities scheduled for the next day. Second, accidentally we found an outrageous feature of the safe: it was completely freely movable on the shelf. Opening and closing the safe we hadn t discovered it, but I pushed the safebox a little and then hovered in the air. What a pity, now remembering having left almost all our money in the safebox that everyone could have taken away. Again, no big sorry for that. The next day, the safe got...out of power once we got back to the hotel late at night. Such a spate should not happen in the 5* hotel, if it was 2 stars, I wouldn t blame anyone.
Another issue was a sudden loss of electricity in the room at 11 pm. Just think of what a seven year-old child feels suddenly losing almost all the light in the room when she s falling asleep. Fortunately, the mechanician came 10 minutes later to fix it.
Another issue with the hotel staff was how they handled our request for organising a bouquet of flowers for a very special ocassion we had. Astonishingly, the reception assistant refused to help, claiming that we should purchase them ourselves in the city. Again, I ve been to hundreds of 5* hotels in dozens of cities across the globe, but I ve never been treated like this, having being left with utterly no help in such an ordinary thing (it was just the flowers, not a helicopter tour).
We also had an issue with the room key cards. Having already had encountered many similar issues with the cards we always place them separately from the mobile phones or any other electronic devices. The lady wasn t even sorry for what happened, completely startling us when we compare the attitude of the staff in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or even in the European hotels.
Finally, guess what: by chance we met the hotel manager in the lift just after we couldn t have entered the room and the safe broke down again. He wasn t even really sorry for what happened, maybe because we were staying in the room on the lowest floor, not in the privileged high floors.
Anyway, we can t complain about the quality and cleanliness of the room, the qualities and quantities of the meals served in the restaurants or the general design and elegance of the hotel per se. It s just the way in which all our inconveniences were summarised without any sensation of feeling sorry or embarassment. Again, we couldn t have argued if all of those all in all minor disturbances occurred in any hotel, but it s the way they handled in, totally out of place for the 5* hotel described as embracing delightfully welcoming spirit of Thailand

It would have been a 5 or excellent if the incident did not happen. FYI, the man next to our room threw a pillow to the door of our balcony because he was stuck in his balcony?! It was weird and creepy. I think this could have been managed and handled better as we had trouble sleeping.

We stayed at the Horizon Club once a year, twice a year last year and once a year this year, it is a hotel where you can relax and enjoy yourself no matter how many times you go I used the gym and spa but it was unfortunately good that I did not use it until now, the employee service is great, the behavior of the pool guard is especially good and children can play with confidence Delicious food can be relaxed by the riverside, and if you are a bit cold in the room, you may need a piece of fabric. Until now, it was okay to plug in the outlet on the extension outlet desk, but it was short and all the electricity in the room was turned off, but if you talk to the nearest cleaning staff, call immediately and come to the repair staff Thank you for having reworked.

An excellent location, very good staff and service. Breakfast, in fact all catering, is very expensive. We stayed twice, the room first time was excellent, second time, on a different floor, it was a bit battered.

Stayed at Hotel Shangri La in Bangkok for the second time. The location of the hotel is very convenient! Right on the river and close to a sky train station.

Stayed in Bangkok over the New Year, so the hotel was fully booked, which was also very noticeable in the pool area, as there was no lounger available in the afternoon.

When we arrived, only 1 room out of two was ready (arrival 3:00 p.m.), we could use one of our rooms until 9:00 p.m. on the day of departure. I found a very good offer as we had to be at the airport at 10 p.m.

Breakfast buffet was as always very tasty and it would take x days to try everything out. My son liked the ice station best.

On December 31, we booked the New Year's Eve gala dinner in the Next2 restaurant. The buffet was immense! Everything your heart desires and much more. With this buffet you would have to eat x days to have tried everything. Only in the restaurant itself was the air conditioning set very cool, on request we were given scarves by the staff.

As with our last visit, the children's chairs are not always clean and the staff like to forget to clean them.

An excellent stay, like the previous ones at this hotel. A big thank you to the staff of the Club: Natty, Pac, Aey, Jom, May, Ju, Ferrn and Pasty, for their kindness and their professionalism. Their help has been invaluable to us.
Congratulations also to the staff around the pool, be they the servers, but also the lifeguards, whose missions are not always easy!
It is with great pleasure that we will come back!

Perfect dervice. The hotel is too large but the swimming pool is very small for the hotel scale. The river view is nice but the location is not the best. The breakfast is grest but is overpriced - 1000 bats (33 euros) is too much.

It is located overlooking Chao Phraya. The night view seen from the room was very beautiful. It is also convenient that you can walk to the BTS station almost in the hall.
Rooms are spacious, no problem.
Of particular note is the Chinese restaurant, Sakamiya. This shrine is good everywhere in Shangri-La, but here too, it is quite a level. If you get tired of Thai food every day, you can skip Thai food and try it. Especially for lunch, it is easier for one person to enjoy.
