Definitely not what I expected, but it could ve been the night. NYC - Eagle is usually popping on a Thursday night and I thought the same would apply. This was nowhere near it [and other Eagles (nationwide) I ve had the pleasure of visiting]. Hopefully, I ll be able to return and experience its true potential. I know you could do better.

Probably the best gay club in San Francisco. Most clubs are bad at making drinks and are overran with drag queen nights. As long as they don't follow the trend of drag queen night every week then it will still be my club when I am in town.

A great South of Market bar and generally a staple gathering spot for the local Leather community. The SF Eagle has been host to a number of up and coming bands, especially for Thursday Night Live.

Beer Bust on Sunday is also a treat, as long as you like beer and/or good conversation with people you ve known for awhile, and sometimes, those you ve just met.

To begin this place says they open at 12 but I went once and they don't...it was closed and a person that was standing outside that frequented the place said they actually open at 6 idk if that has changed...If so, this yelp time is wrong. Second, prepare to be standing the entire time. This place is super tiny and super crowded it's hard to even move in there. The food is pretty amazing and there is no cover charge to go in. The micheladas are bomb. They seem pricey at $12 but they're huge and come with a couple pieces of shrimp, cucumber, celery and a tamarindo stick which you can use as your straw. Delicious. They only have valet parking, which is complimentary but still tip the poor guys...they're running around like crazy! I gave it three stars because they don't have enough sitting room and their parking sucks if you don't valet...they do have awesome food and drinks though.

A event that I have gone to for years in San Francisco moved "recently" to the SF eagle. If you are there on a good night, the bartenders and the patrons are solid. More than a few times we get a aggressive bar back that's trying to dictate how the bar is operated, which ruins the vibe a little bit. I do not advise parking within the block or two of the eagle, I've been broken into twice. It's not the best area. The street outside is currently going underneath intense construction, as soon as that's done, I'm sure the area will be even better. they do not like doing tabs or taking card during large events, be prepared to have cash on hand. They do have an ATM, but you know they all have horrible fees. If you are there not during a event, they probably will be able to take your card no problem. something I wish they would change, cuz I would buy a lot more drinks if I didn't have to have cash on hand. Enjoy yourself, have fun, be silly.

My personal favorite smoking patio. Forget that Z bar. Easy going old school leather/bear/daddy hangout, this iconic bar has featured live music and a mixed crowd for most of its existence. Now refurbished and jazzed up, it's a great spot for a quiet drink if you show up early.

I ve been to many eagles and this has been my favorite so far. It was little s night and I got to meet some of my pup friends too. Friendly, welcoming vibe, great outdoor area. There is a coat check.

Easy going, no attitude or frills. If you're musically inclined (and don't want to listen to bad top 40/hiphop), this Eagle has a really great selection of DJs playing!

Loved the inside area, the outside covered dance patio, and the open outdoor space.

Also loved the number of men that come in full gear! I'm from NYC and I think my experience here won out! Great job!

This place is chill as hell, the happy hour is AMAZING as in lots and lots of options, and they have TouchTunes juxebox so yeah SOLD, take my money!!!! Also, the bartender with dyed hair and alternative style was nice and on it, despite him probably hating our music choices haha! There are no windows so it's dark as hell but I mean...kinda like it! They have loads of seating and spots for your drinks on pillars even when standing. Good spot, in fact don't come here I wanna keep it for myself! Hollywood gem!

Great space to meet up with friends. The Eagle has a fantastic outdoor space, pool table, four bars, and lots of elbow room. The outdoor space has an elevated section that overlooks the main area of the outdoor space.

I like going to this place because everyone is welcomed. However I'm still getting used to the presence of security... this is literally the first Eagle I've been too which had outside security. It weirds me out sometimes, which is kinda an oxymoron the more I think about

Just as a person who is under 30, this place is not very friendly. The place is more suited for older people, so is you're young, you're better off going to other bars. Drinks were alright, place was ok. Nothing special except all the old men there.

Great music, good friends and a all-walks-of-life type of male crowd. Make friends and reinvent yourself! The only place to see and be seen........usually like what I see.

The SF Eagle doesn t have a little, it has a LOT of something for EVERYONE! Whether it s hanging with the leather community, meeting a new pup , dancing to disco on a Sunday after its famous beer bust of course, karaoke Wednesdays, the make out party, so many events happen at the SF eagle that their truly is something for everyone. Everyone is welcome and everyone is respectful. Make sure you are too! Love this place, they treat you like family! Pictures taken by myself.

Some of the best bartenders in Bay Area! Kick ass one of a kind events and it is the number place to be on Sundays for beer bust. SF Eagle generously gives local non-profits the opportunity to raise much needed funds through a beer bust every weekend.

The Eagle is one of the oldest leather bars in SF! The Sunday beerbust is fabulous especially on sunny days when you can be on the patio but there's plenty of space inside, it's dog friendly afternoons but also has a really good mixed program at night

One of the best patios in all of SF, enjoy it before it becomes condo's. This is a gay leather bar and extremely inclusive for all! You may see light fetish play on any given night. Go for karaoke or punk rock shows for a fantastic time!

This was a really disappointing experience. I had never been to SFO before and had a pretty short layover. I decided seeing this eagle would be a great way to spend it.

First off, there's a cover. The only eagle in this world that has a cover. London didn't even have one. I can understand having one if there's entertainment or a show but there wasn't. I arrived just past midnight. I had to hit the ATM for a $20 to pay it.

Once I went up to the bar and ordered my drinks, I was informed they were cash only instead of just telling me at the door or even having a notice posted of it. I had to hit the ATM again.

I went to the patio, and there were a wide variety of people. It was an interesting crowd but felt too many stares that caught me off guard, I don't think they were admiring. Not much leather being worn that evening.

Come 1:25 I went to take a leak, when I tried to go back out to talk to some guys I met I was refused entry back to the patio by security because it was "closing." Which was probably the most infuriating thing of the evening. They were kicking everyone inside.

I'm glad I paid a $10 cover for no show or entertainment, overpriced drinks, Fireball that didn't quite taste like Fireball, and to be kept from enjoying the whole bar.

What a bummer.

I love attending events here! The staff are all really cordial, the courtyard is HUGE and we'll-decorated, the drinks are strong, and they always have something fun going on.

I only knocked off a star because they have ONE bathroom with ONE toilet, which becomes problematic during a show or on a crowded night. I have had to go take care of business al fresco because the line to he commode was insanely long. Not cute.

This bar is a bit of a throwback to earlier times in SF, but with a few updates and a decent beer selection, all of which help make it a real gem. They always seem to play great rock or indie music, always at the right volume for me, and the outside patio has to be the best in the city (note: outside on the patio smoking is allowed, including cigars, but there's plenty of space that it's unlikely to bother you as it might at some smaller Castro area bar patios). The bartenders have always been really friendly and happy to talk which makes me even happier to support this place.

(It is a little bit leathery, with some Tom of Finland art around the place, so be forewarned, but it's a very welcoming space.)

No credit card facilities, understandable on busy nights but not every night is busy.. ATM charges 3bucks to give you cash, so about average, but then your own bank may charge too of course.

It's a gay dive bar, so keep your expectations low and be pleasantly surprised when you come. Other patrons can be a bit uncontrolled, but the venue itself is quite nice, love the courtyard

A must see in the nightlife of San Francisco. If it is your first time, go with an open mind and with the idea that you will see things that you do not see in other places, especially if you visit from other countries. It has a DJ on the terrace and pop music inside. They do "show" sado from time to time. The day I went I got a $ 15 cover although I don't know if that's always the case.
