This is a lovely location for a casual weekend stop. Beautiful views over the vineyard and valley. You can actually hike for some distance if so inclined. The church was open so we enjoyed looking around. Our preference is to just relax with a glass of the local wine. This was our second visit, driven by the fact that we enjoy the on-site restaurant which has a wonderful menu. I would suggest the charcuterie plate (an afternoon nibble) to be enjoyed with wine. OPEN hours for service are limited so check the website first. Table linens and decor make for a more formal setting, yet the feeling is casual with excellent service.

Price / performance ratio of the wine very high. Wine very expensive but also VERY GOOD.
The fact that the Johannisberg domain is the oldest winery in the world does not justify the high price, but the ambience and the view compensate every visitor for the higher prices. Definitely worth a trip / wine tasting!

Super eatery with fine cuisine. The portions are not that big, but I like it. Meat dishes have plenty of meat. There is no beer! Only wines and other. The view on the terrace is fantastic. There is also a small vineyard for inexpensive dishes.

Unfortunately lost some of its charm. E.g. the beautiful couch benches for hikers have been replaced by a fenced wine bar. A wine bar was also set up on the other side of the site and scenic corners were removed. It has completely slipped into a commercial setting. Even a number of trees were removed from parking lots.

A unique destination for hikes in the vineyards of the Rheingau and frequently used venue for the Rheingau music festival.
The vineyard only carries Riesling. The history of winegrowing goes back to the 8th century, the time of Charlemagne and is strongly influenced by the political changes in Europe. Even today, the tenth part of the proceeds goes to the descendants of the Habsburg family.

Wonderful place to walk around and get a glas of great Riesling. The views from the restaurant and the terrace are amazing, there is a good wine shop, I wouldn t call it cheap, but you definitely get the quality you pay for.

In the restaurant you can dine very delicious. Ambiance, view and the food are great. Prices are accordingly higher.
The visit can be combined very well with a walk around the castle. The castle is a popular destination for a wine hike
