One of my favorite destinations, also with guests from abroad. Enchanting view of the Rhine, beautiful vineyards, beautiful weekend events, good food and drink in the immediate vicinity or after a hike through the vineyards. And don't forget to visit the ancient Romanesque basilica!

Anyone who does not come here for "eating and drinking", but for the beauty of the castle itself ..... who comes when it is quiet and calm, when the consuming tourist has gone with his wine boxes, experiences real pleasure !! !!!!!
And definitely go to the chapel, it's worth it!
Therefore and only for this reason: See you soon, Prince Metternich!

The way to the Schloss Johannisberg winery is already worthwhile for the view of the vines leading to the Rhine. Except for the outer pavilions, the castle is a reconstruction from the 1950s / 60s. The service during the tasting was great, but you have to honestly say that the wines - especially in comparison to other well-known winemakers in the Rheingau - are a bit very overpriced, which is probably due to the name. So price-performance ratio is better.

This place is fantastic. The views over the Rhine river are spectacular. The service is very attentive and friendly. I've been there many times and have always loved the food. The wine choices are also very good. The place is not cheap, but the quality of food and service are worth the price. I definitively recommend this place!

Nice castle with the possibility to drink great wine outside and take wine home with you in the shop next door. The view is great, the people working there are nice and the castle itself is definitely worth a visit.

Very nice surroundings, but unfortunately very unfriendly staff, although a bottle of wine from Schloss Johannesberg was bought, it could not be consumed there ... anyone who buys food and drink directly from glasses is only welcome ... will never again get wine from Johannesberg Castle buy ... after rude experience ... used to do a lot of advertising. Will clearly distance myself from it!

Beautiful well maintained complex with a beautiful view! There is also a farm shop where you can stock up on the products of Prince Metternich. The castle as well as the church are worth a visit and you should plan on the one to two hours.

What a place. The Rheingau lies at the visitors' feet. Served are fine wines and quality food. Truly princely. Unforgettable evenings are guaranteed as well as pampering for the palate. I'm looking forward to the next time.
A small flaw, however, I have to note: the New Year's Eve menu 2018th There was a super motivated and lovely team and a very professional DJ. In addition wine came at the usual high level. However, individual courses of the menu were far below the usual level. The dessert even looked like Convinence. That was a good average for a house of this reputation is too little. And nevertheless. I still stay with the 5 stars.

This was the goal of the legendary late harvest rider: Johannisberg Castle near Geisenheim in the Rheingau. Wine has been grown here since 817, and Riesling has dominated for around 300 years. This makes the winery a monumental memory for the spread of Riesling.

In the 1930 Weinbaulexikon on the subject of Riesling it is briefly and succinctly noted: Home: Germany. Probably a seedling from the Rheingau. One thing is definitely true: Johannisberg Castle is a gigantic treasure trove of Riesling and a refuge for wine culture.

On a warm spring evening we were sitting very nicely in the winter garden by the open window. The view of the Rhine Valley is fantastic, the food was very good, the waiter attentive and friendly, overall very recommendable!
Tip: Sunday evening is not as busy as usual, because it can sometimes be very busy.

Very beautiful schloss with fantastic views of the Rhine and surrounding valley. There's a restaurant, wine shop, and wine stand on site along with trails to walk the grounds. Great place to relax and enjoy a glass or a bottle with (or perhaps without) friends.
