Justin was very professional, he walked through and described the process step-by-step in evaluating our heating and cooling requirements. He was very knowlegeable in describing the various options that are available and provided "down to earth" answers to all of my questions.
Had a tenant call for service before they called me. Tech was there an hour and switched out a circuit board ($150?)... charges for diagnostic and repair totaled $993. Multiple phone calls, voicemails, emails and no one will return my calls with any explanation of charges. DON'T CALL SCHAAL YALL!!!

Technician was friendly, very thorough, and helped connect the smart app' to the thermostat using his Ipad since it was not working with my Android phone. This was a maintenance check for 6 mos after new install so suggest new installers remind customers about possible problems connecting honeywell therm' with an android
Had them out to check out a condensate, water, leak. Quickly found it, fixed it and supposedly verified it was no longer leaking.
Serviceman did a cursory check out of the heating/cooling system while waiting on the leak and offered some good maintenance advice.
Update: It leaked again months later, same spot. The second repairman found it, couldn t explain why it wasn t fixed right the first time. He fixed it again, at no charge as that was the right thing to do.
I suppose I should be happy, but I m not. I m not delighted that they finally did what they should have done the first time and had already charged me for. With luck it will stay fixed. I hate relying on luck.

Schall installed a new air condition are and furnace for us. The install techs were great. Then Matt came out and helped us tweak the system for our house. Great service.
The whole process went smoothly and without any complications. The person who came out to do an estimate was friendly, courteous and very helpful. Two two people who did the install were very efficient and did a quality job. We are very happy with our experience.

Our aging furnace went out unexpectedly over the sub-zero weekend. Derek was sent out to assess the situation and tried various possible solutions. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. Ultimately, we needed a new furnace. He contacted Dan who took the time out of his Sunday morning to come over and present the options Schaal could provide. Dan was also very pleasant and professional. He discussed all our options, promotions, packages, financing, and the pros and cons of those options. We did not feel pressured and felt as though we could make an educated decision. We elected to replace both our furnace and AC. Schaal was able to send a crew out Monday morning for the replacement. Jon, Nate, and Dylan arrived at the agreed upon time. They also were a group of professional, courteous installers that seemed very knowledgeable and efficient with their skills. Our furnace and AC were replaced in a timely fashion with even a few extra tasks thrown in. Though it was a very stressful situation, overall, it was truly a great experience.

Dan came in on time and was able to answer all the questions that I had. He clearly explained what works for my home and gave some options. He has answer for every question. Good thing is that they take care of all the city permits for the work they do. they also do the energy efficiency rebates.

I wish this wasn't going to be such a negative review as the young man that came out was very professional and polite.
I originally called due to the AC not running correctly and there was water coming off the furnace.
We were first quoted a 48 to 72 daylight hour turn around time as those with actual AC units not running were priority calls (I completely understand living my entire life in Iowa, summers get HOT!)
I got a call the next day saying that they were sending out a tech within 10-15 minutes! Perfect as we both are working from home.
After about 2 hours, the tech "diagnosed" the issue and stated that the TXV needed to be replaced. We were quoted over $1,600 worth of work and an additional $1,400 of "future costs".
With that said we wanted a second opinion and had a secondary technician from a different company come out.
He looked everything over and discovered the TXV is perfectly fine, that our fan blower was set to low, and the system was low on freon. He adjusted the fan and replenished the freon and our AC has never worked better!
Extremely disappointed in such a highly recommended company to have the feeling that we were being completely taken advantage of and that our 6 year old system (which the dispatch lady stated is too new of a system to have such huge issues) was quoted so much work to be completed.
It's easy to say that we will be hiring the secondary company from here on out and Schaal will have officially lost our business.

I called in the morning with a cold house and someone was at my house at 12:45 PM. Brad spent two hours thoroughly cleaning and testing every part of our furnace, showing us problems we were unaware of in the ductwork and cold air returns and thoroughly answering every question. He explained options we had for every issue and printed off a sheet with pricing for all items for us to consider and plan for. This is definitely going to be our company.
Dan did a great job looking at my system and was very responsive as I had questions about the quote. Marshall and second installer Michael did a great job installing my new system. They were timeline, worked good together, helped explain the new system to me and made sure I was happy with the work before they left.
Marshall, Chad, Nathan, and Matt? Did a fantastic job. They knocked out two furnaces and air conditioners in the span of 9 hours. I was very happy with their communication. They are all very knowledgeable in the trade. I would definitely say this was not the easiest job, but they made it look easy. Not only did I get a courtesy call before they came out to make sure I was ready, they were on time, listened to my concerns, answered every question, made sure to explain each step in diagnosing and fixing the issue, AND they even wore covers to protect my wood floor! They explained what needed to be done and it's cost, and made sure I was comfortable before they continued. Their prices are amazing and they had everything fixed and cooling off in no time. Don't waste your time calling around, no one beats Schaal!
Pete was thorough in figuring out what the problem could be. Explained his fixes & made sure I understood them. Asked that I call them right away if any other concerns and they'd be right out. All this is while under the warranty. Initially sent pics of the problem to Justin who emailed back promptly with a high-level fix to the problem & advised the office would call first thing the next day to get a tech scheduled to come to our house. And they did. Schall is always very courteous & tidy to work with.

Sales: I got a new HVAC system from SCHAAL in August. Brand: Carrier. Salesman Dan was amazing in explaining what is best for me and how it works out.He was a very knowledgeable guy who answered every technical question i had and helped me decide the correct unit and gave me the best deal. He understood my requirements clearly and suggested a system that works for me.
Installation: Dylon and Llyod were very professional when doing their job. They were very punctual and finished their job well ahead of the time. They cleaned everything after the installation and explained what i should expect from the new system. They communicated very well during the installation.
Issue after installation: While the system was super quiet and worked perfectly...i could hear a pulsating humming sound from the outside compressor (could hear everywhere in my house, was louder in my home office which was near the unit) and it was driving me nuts. I reached out to Dan and he arranged for a technician immediately to come and check it out. The technician came out (few hours after the installation) and said that is how these Carrier units work. He tried few things but the sound did not go away. He said he did not have anything else he can do except for talking to his supervisor to get a compressor blanket to reduce the sound. He also talked about the option of looking at a more expensive unit if i needed a quieter unit. Very disappointing. Everyday when the unit ran i could hear the pulsating hum that caused me lot of discomfort.
After few days i reached out to Dan again and he arranged for a Senior Technician to check it out. Their Customer Service called me and said i should not worry as they will send their best technicians to look at the issue and fix it. David Cleek (Sr technician) came in, discussed the issue, experienced the pulsating hum in the house and suggested few things he was going to do. He did them in 30-45 minutes and the sound was gone. It is so quiet now that i need to put my hand over a vent to see if it is actually running or not.
The best things with Schaal team were knowledgeable salesman, super nice installation guys, great customer service and experienced Sr Technician who fixed the issue. The worst thing was the technician who came in, heard the sound and said that is how the unit works. Those words made me think if i did the right thing by purchasing this unit.
After their last visit, I am very happy that the Schaal team worked to solve my issue and i would happily recommend them to anyone. I felt that they wanted to help me and they did by sending their best to solve the issue. Great job Schaal team.
