Filthy! I'm giving 2 stars because the receptionist was friendly and tried to be helpful, except the computer was not working properly. The room is small, but I expected that for a single. I didn't expect it to be dirty, with water stains on the curtains. I am also told that the latest entry to the spa is 5pm, which is the time my course finishes tomorrow. Very disappointed.
Cant fault the place..very friendly very clean and spacious rooms...
Shall defo be booking again in few months..
Explained that i had arthiritus and they placed us right next to the lifts...
Location was not so bad, the staff are very friendly and helpful, that's about it.
The decorating wasn't to bad but where there was some cracks the paint over the cracks didn't match.
Other things wrong with the room:
Windows very dirty, it spoilt the view of the night club 15 feet away but didn't stop the noise up to 3am. That started after the karaoke bar under our room (1st floor No 109) had finished. The window didn't close properly which wasn't helpful because the heating wasn't working.
TV had been washed with a dirty rag, only allowed 2 drinks of tea or coffee a day.
Bed was hard, also had a dirty pillow.
Bathroom: bath and shower took a while to get hot, sink was coming away from the wall, tiles on the floor cracked, however they did offer to move us the day before we was due to leave.
Won't be staying at the hotel again.
Big hotel set on Lord Street. On arrival we were allocated a room that turned out to be a twin, I had booked a double and the lady on reception was helpful in allocating us to a double room. Decor of hotel is a little dated and tatty but it More
This hotel was great about 10 years ago. Now it's just used to house illegal immigrants. Been a lot of crime outside and around the surrounding streets. Always people smoking outside the front entrance at all hours. Not very clean and in need of a lot of maintenance. Reception area smells really really bad now, popped in to take a look and was told to leave. Would avoid at all costs, try one of the newer big hotel chains if anyone is looking for clean accommodation.
I stayed here once and that was enough. If there are any good reviews I believe its the staff topping up to level out the bad ones. It's been a couple of years since I stayed but every so often I come to the website to look at the reviews so I can have a laugh. How it stays open its beyond me. Oh wait. Its because they earn the money through the night club they provide for all the locals. They couldn't give a dam about people staying ther who need sleep. Avoid this place
Used to be a great hotel. Now it s a hovel full of immigrants. Avoid at all cost.
Hotel not bad but very dated and needs updating. We got in are room after a night out and when we pulled the quilt back found a big yellow stain in the middle of it looked like urine surly the cleaner would have noticed this when making the bed. The quilt inside the stained cover was a disgrace. Receptionist wasn't very helpful especially when we asked why breakfast was only being served until 09.00 all weekend yet there website says 10.30 at the weekend we had paid extra for breakfast but wouldn't have bothered if we had known it was only being served until 09.00 .No good when you are out drinking until 03.30 and have to get up so early. On the plus side plenty to do within the hotel including several good bars and live music would go again now I know what to expect
This is a difficult review... the hotel itself was fine yes it's rather dated but it's a very large hotel and given the price you can hardly expect 5 star modern rooms.
The room we stopped in was ok, there were a couple of things that needed attention, for instance the door to the bathroom had a fist hole through it and the handle on the window was broken off but the bed was clean and there were all the things you'd expect there to be.
However the fun started when it was time to go to bed... we had been out round town for a few drinks and got back to the room around midnight to be treated to what sounded like an Iron Madien tribute act in our room with us. Now I love a bit of rock and metal but this carried on until about 4am. The music was coming from a bar across the back alley from our room and even with both sets of Windows shut it sounded like a radio was on in the room.
Now I know that this isn't the hotels fault.. they didn't put a bar there nor can they control what time they play music till or the volume of the bars that surround the hotel but I feel that people need to know what to expect.. after all that is what reviews are here for.
If you do go to this hotel ask for a room at the front..
Honest and genuine review of the scarisbrick hotel - Checking in was fast and simple, the staff were very friendly and clear with where the room was. The room in question was immaculately clean, there was some marks on the furniture but this is nothing unless you want perfection. The bed was decently comfy with plenty of pillows provided. The tea making facilities in the room is a nice added bonus. When it comes to sleeping, it can get noisy outside because of the clubs so if you struggle sleeping it might not be for you? However I slept like a rock since I was walking around nearly all day. One additional thing is that our room was located on the front of the building where we had the hotel lights shining up the window , we'd like to see darker curtains to block out more of the light. Lastly is the breakfast - it's a all you can eat from 7:30 - 9 and you can choose anything from continental breakfast to a fry up. The breakfast food was cooked very nicely and tasty. I however did not try the resteraunt food the hotel provides so I can't give an opinion on this. Overall this is a nice hotel and I would stay here again especially for the cheap price.
