I had a really bad experience with the new deck managers, before I believe his name was Romel. Romel was good and kept his teachers, ever since the new older man and young girl came it has been awful. There is no teacher consistency, they make the front desk enforce unreasonable rules, and do not seem experienced in the swimming field.
A instructor here grabbed my child's arm and dragged him for being disruptive. You're lucky I don't sue you guys. You are never allowed to touch another child what's wrong with you people
Although the staff were quite friendly, they didn t me teach much.I went there for 6 classes and all I really learned was digging and back-float.I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone. The only pros about this place is that the sitting area is nice and the pool is temperature controlled as it is a indoor pool. This is why I think this place is deserving of two stars.
Great swim teachers, great swim school! For the price you pay, you get a lot! Quality swim lessons offered! Privet classes are flexible and can be scheduled to your needs and time? Make up classes offered for missed classes. Warm, heated indoor pool. I signed up for Their membership and while kids are in the pool, I jump on the bike!
I agree with many of the low stars. Cleanliness, front desk, teaching, and especially managers - no consistency. I liked the teacher, but really didn't know much about swimming - mostly making the kids swim back and forth, talking to the kids, but not demonstrating. I think the teachers need to be educated on teaching methods for different age groups.
Great swim school especially for the higher level of classes.
This place is the best! I recommend it to other swimming people nor new people to swim!! SSTA has helped me a lot, whether on my strokes, etc., and helped me achieve competitive swimming!
Good place. The coaches good. A bit long for the lessons. But really good.
We had the most horrifying experience when we went to our first swimming class at Saratoga Star Aquatics. Even for the beginner's class, parents have to watch through a glass window. There is no dedicated person at the side of the pool to monitor the safety of the children.
Since my 3.5 year old had already taken swimming classes at another swimming school, he was very comfortable in the water. In the middle of the class, he slipped from the edge of the pool into the water without any instructor noticing him. The pool was too deep for him and he was submerged with only hands visible. After he struggled for more than a minute, with other parents looking on aghast outside the glass window, still no instructor in the pool area noticed anything. Only when I knocked on the glass window really hard did the class instructor respond and pull him out of the water.
After this traumatic experience, my son turned from a water loving boy into someone who cries whenever he hears about swimming classes. I called the business to see whether I can turn the rest of his swimming classes into just family swimming time. I was told by the person answering the phone that he couldn't do anything about it. He told me that his management would call me shortly (right after he finishes his work on hand) but I have yet to hear from them.
Great instructors and clear curriculum! Clean shower room and restroom.
Facility is clean. Kids like their teachers. Front desk is friendly but sometimes they look busy helping parents. We have been here for couple years, kids are progressing fine.
My kids was having a progress report today, even though they can't move up, but the instructor explained clearly about what they need to improve, so I have an idea that how they doing in the class. Also, the front desk people are very nice and helpful!
The new manager yells at customers, a child almost drowned, and there is no training. After all the good swim instructors left, what happened to this place? I go back to DACA again because this is not good learning.
Happy with the instruction here, I can always get feedback on how my kid is doing from the manager, front desk answers any question I have, and their Summer Camp program is very good, shows a lot of improvement in just one week.
Good place for swim lessons, my kids with them for a months, they liked the teacher and learnt fast, front desk guys are most helpful and nice for the customers.
Coach James has a rude attitude and disrespects parents and children very much. Moreover, this place is not careless and does not handle complaints from parents. It even ignores BBB's requirements.
I love this facility, the front desk was really helpful and understanding. My child has learned so much through this program and is now in Pre-comp with Richard. The coaches are really experienced and know what they are talking about. I am so glad I chose this swim school.
Awesome academy! They really know to teach swimming! I know other people may not have had the same experience, but after my child attended this academy, he became a PRO at swimming! Plus, the facility is AWESOME!
Good and standard size pool. Good Teachers once you got into higher levels.
My kids (7 and 8.5 years old) were swimming during the free swimming time today while their grandfather was sitting outside of the pool watching them through the facility window. Shortly after they swam for several laps, my kids were asked to get out of the pool because they're under 10. Person in charge there told them according to Law, children under 10 can only swim when the supervising adult is also in the water. I have never heard of such law before because my kids have been swimming in YMCA while I was watching them outside of the pool. When I was trying to ask questions about the law through phone, the person on the phone was very rude and refused to talk to me about it. So my kids had to left the pool. It was a very unpleasant experience of my kids and their grand father.
Absolutely horrible, the instructors are extremely mean and rude and do not care at all about teaching you to swim. I have two examples, one time when I was a younger child I was splashing water while swimming, and another instructor, in the lane next to mine, grabbed and pinched my arm and started yelling at me about how I can not splash water while swimming (ya makes perfect sense right!) Another time I could not do one of the techniques and the instructor sat me out , just because I could not do the proper technique! I would give this place zero stars if I could. I would never recommend this place to anyone as it is the worst swimming learning place you could ever come to.
The front desk is very rude and unreasonable to the customers. My daughter had missed classes both in June and July. Last week I got a swimming pass for her for her missed class in July. I thought we can only ask for 1 swimming pass at a time, and I will ask for her other swimming pass this week. Today the front desk refused to give me a swimming pass for June saying that I should've asked for it at the same time last week, and she would've given me 2 passes. Also, if I had switched the order and asked for swimming pass for June last week, and July this week, that would've also worked. And now she can't give it to me and she's following policy. And this policy is not written anywhere. I feel cheated as a customer.
I love this place, as they teach people with high quality olympic champions. The Wifi is great for just a swimming place, and this place is just plain good. All of the bad reviews are mostly B.S.
Good place for young children. Been swimming here for years. New manager seems to be still working on figuring out the way the swim center works. Teachers are still good I hope they give him more training. Not much has changed.
Extremely rude and unreasonable front desk staff.
The instructor is never available to discuss your child's progress and she never called back even after having filled a callback form.
And here is how they fleece you - they didn't give a progress report that they said they would and when I asked for one they 'ROB' the child's instruction time that I pay $$$ for, to do an evaluation. Lose lose situation for the parent and child, Ssta only cares about making money any which way!!!!
And surprise turns out after the evaluation that the child is ready to move up a level, so the progress report was apparently mysteriously held back so they can continue the child in the lower level! I was told when we enrolled that the instructor will ask for an evaluation when the child is ready to move up - voila never happens!!
Front desk makes up rules as they go and they get annoys if you ask questions. so if you are ready to pay and not ask any questions, you may enjoy this school.
I love this place my kids are learning and I m satisfied with this place
I have taken DD to different swim schools, she is 6yo, I like this the best, good focus on detail, spends time practicing vs sitting n waiting for the instructor when s/ he is with one of the other kids, 40 min swim time once you are white level.
The front desk is pretty friendly and helpful to help me signing up. My kid was afraid at the beginning but after a while he seems to enjoy the class. The place is clean and has big glass window for you to watch your kid. The water looks very clean. So far so good.
The front desk staff are not well informed about the rules of the pool. The lifeguard, specially a Chinese old guy with lot of grey hair is very rude. He shouted at my kids who were under 10 years old to get out of the pool and wait for their parents. Who gave him the authority to shout at the kids? After I (parent) tired to intervene, the life guard shouted at me also saying that it is a law that kids under 10 years cannot swim without an adult in the pool. On other days, I have also seen kids under 10 swimming in the deep pool and nobody asks them to leave. The application of the rule is not even. The front desk staff were making stories to cover up if you tell them, there were kids under 10 swimming in the deep pool alone without an adult. Anyways, if there is some rule, there could have been a better way of pointing out the rule. The life guard did not have have to be so rude. The life guard may be very good at swimming but he needs training in communication.
Very Rude Front Desk! There's an older Chinese lady (she refused to reveal her name, but I think she's the only older Chinese lady there anyway) who doesn't seem to respect ppl's privacy. She would go straightly into the change room talking to you when you are not even dressed, pulling your shower curtain away to talk to you when you are still in shower, toughing your personal items (swimming suit ) and asking if those are yours. She did that repeatedly and insisted that she's a woman therefore there's nothing rude or abnormal for her to do that. She even yelled at me when I was unpleasantly surprised by her in the change room and she even told me I shouldn't go there anymore, since I have an issue with her doing that. I don't have any issue with other ppl working there, but I don't know that old Chinese lady's name and her schedule, so i can't really avoid her. It's like a nightmare when she's on duty. She claims everyone knows her. Not even sure what that means!
SSTA gave me a great time in swimming. I'm 11 years old and already graduated. They turned me from a newbie to someone who would be willing to do 500s. Overall, it gave me a great and fun experience
Front desk are helpful for providing summer camp detail. They are patient even though I ask a lot of questions.
My two daughters started attending this swim school a few months ago. I really like how they break down the steps to certain swim strokes, making it attainable for my kids. Both my girls love swimming here with Coach Kevin. In just a few months, I can tell the difference with the quality. They really focus on getting a strong foundation. They are also more reasonable as compared to other swim schools. I highly recommend Saratoga star aquatics!
Nice facility and friendly people. My son improve huge in one year. Front desk girl is always patient to help.
This place solidifies swimmers' swimming techniques. James is an excellent instructor. He is strict but my son enjoys taking swimming lessons under his instructions.
My kids take classes there and overall like the place. The teachers are generally nice and patient to lids and helpful too. However, we do experience a couple rude staff or senior staff, showing no any respect to kids and parents. I may understand if she is ever treated like that by some others.
the staff is nice. the pool is clean. coach changing is not very frequently, but some times. The tuition fee will be increased every year..The after-session swimming time is good.
First few levels were amazing, but blue and purple were just too harsh on students. I, as a student, have been repeatedly scolded for being too slow though I was doing my best, and when my flippers were giving me a hard time and twisting my foot, the instructors said to get over with it and move on.
This place is a waste of time and money. Older kid went to SCSC and we tried this place for the younger one due to convenience. Was really patient for 3-4 months and switched trainers 3 times. The trainers churn a lot, where every week its a new trainer and there is no continuity. The trainers that stick around are not very good and merely go through the motions. They overcrowd the classes by taking that extra student and the kids are barely getting 4-5 mins of pool time and just sitting around and playing. This one time they took a kid that should not be in the class and was mortally scared of water. The instructor held the kid for 15 mins ignoring and risking the other kids who could hardly swim. I had to bring this to the coordinator's attention who sent another coach to look after the other kids. The lady who manages the operations also coaches and let a few kids run the coordination. They should really shut this place down
Appreciated the front desk persons and their manager, they are nice and helpful to fix my kids schedules. Very nice to explain to me the policy, terms and situations, even I am not good in English, they tell me a lots until I am feel good. Thank you so much.
A good place for steady learning. It does take a long time for the kids to get comfortable swimming at the deep end. The waiting area for parents/guardians is not very comfortable, but good enough for 1 hour. The showers can be better especially during peak time.
The reviews here are true. The front desk staff is rude and unhelpful. After seeing other reviewers experiences & then having my own - I will find somewhere else for my kids to take lessons. Their website says "Call today for information on classes" however all I got was: come in for a swim test. The lady on the phone was completely unwilling to discuss scheduling options.
Great place to get the younger children ready for swimming. But parents should expect and receive Wifi that works for the amount we pay. They should look into improving the WiFi system so parents can be productive.
