BEST Hospital I've ever been! Staff outstanding! This Hospital is the BEST that have been in! This is why the Hospital raiding is number one! I would like to THANK each and Everyone OF YOU! Please, keep doing what you're doing, making people WELL! AWESOME JOB!
THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT HARD WORK......

This is the only good hospital in the area where acceptable service standards are upheld here you can expect professional nurses and doctors that will properly diagnose and treat you in a timely fashion

I had to get my gastrointestinal tube replaced so i came here and i believe the young woman's name was Nikki in Radiology this was the most painless of the tube replacements that i have had done so far she did a really good job and was pretty quick

i have been to this place a few times now and would recommend it over all of the other hospitals in the area from my experience, i had some horrible experiences at the other small town hospitals in my area

Two relevant matters from our visit:

Two relevant matters from our visit:
1. My 5yo son was not treated for his broken arm, but was sent to Children's hospital in St. Pete. If you have a trauma emergency with a kid I'd consider going directly to a different ER and you may save time and also avoid the bill (which is the other part of the issue). I guess simple fractures are well treated here, but sadly it wasn't our case.
2. We got a bill for over $6,000. This includes pain killers, injections and two items that I consider to be overly expensive:
ER visit: $3,291. My guess is that this includes the general care and doctors. Still, a steep price for evaluation and the wait to be sent to a different location for actual treatment.
Radiology: $1,525 for two x-rays. Yes, only two. We have received bills from other hospitals and one x-ray costs around $75.
On top of the above $6K we have received the bills for ambulance and care provided in other facilities. Ultimately our insurance should cover most of this, but it's a surprise to see these high rates that would be charged to anyone coming to ER, while rates charged to insurance companies are much lower.

GREAT experience I was so nervous to take myself to ER because I didn t want to use up resources for someone sicker or risk getting COVID (Just a fear) I went at 1 in the morning and from start To finish EVERY single person that helped me were so so nice! The patient registration people, The nurses that helped, the doc that helped And The ct scan lady. They listened to my issue and asked questions to understand and went through a series of tests to rule out all possibilities. In the end everything ended up being OK and I can t thank the staff enough for caring about their patients. I am African American so I do always worry if I m going to get good care at hospitals and they went above and beyond. I use ER as last resort so if I ever need services again I will gladly Suffer and pass up a hospital to get back to them! Thank you so much!

Very good experience (as hospitals go) they got me out of the waiting room and into a room quickly. the physician arrived in a timely manner, did a thorough exam (including x rays to be sure I didn't have a concussion), sewed me up and sent me home.

I have only ever visited the emergency room once and the baby units a few times. The wait to see a doctor for the emergency was about an expected 2 hours (they were busy). The thing I notice the most though is how clean the spaces were. Every time I go it is impressive to me how spotless everything looks! Love this hospital!

Came to Sarasota to do a ultrasound.. place is huge and I ll admit i got lost but workers were very helpful showing me where to go. Got to my appointment like 6 minutes late cause i was lost and they said no problem.. they got my info and about 5 minutes later called me in.. the technician was very nice and got my ultrasound in.. about 20 minutes after i got there, i was out. Fast and very professional..

Very good. Not what I expected at a hospital cafe. My breakfast sandwich with egg and sausage was better than home or any restaurant I ve been to on a long time. Coffee was great, price was right. Too bad it s in a hospital, I d go more often.

I delivered my son at SMH back in May. I had a great experience and wanted to write about it as I looked for reviews from the Labor and Delivery online but couldn't find any. The intake process was a little long but I was in labor so I'm sure it wasn't as long as I remembered it. The facilities were nice, clean, and accommodating. I really liked how they provided exercise balls in the rooms to use during labor so you wouldn't have to bring your own. The best part of the whole thing, besides my new son, was the food! Believe it or not, the food was so good! They had great choices and the food was always hot/cold and fresh.

They don't offer tubs for labor which I see as a downside. I would have loved to use one as I did with my first son. I didn't care for their discharge system either. It took a while to get everything in order even though we, mother and son, were healthy and had no complications. My nurses and the baby's nurses were not on the same schedule either so we were both woken up an absurd amount.

Overall, I was very happy with the hospital. I would definitely return in the future. Also of note, I used the midwives from Gulf Coast OB-GYN. They were wonderful!

This place is horrible. ER waiting room was full of people, maybe 50. No effort to separate people coughing with the flu from others with other problems. Waited 7 hours to be seen by a doctor for 60 seconds. This place is what you would expect in the "third world" but I have been in a hospital ER in South America and had better, faster, less expensive care there. Totally unprepared for influx of tourists and flu patients. If you have insurance, check your other options in Sarasota.

The one star reviews are correct. DO NOT TRUST THEM. They will tell you things cost one thing up front, then retroactively bill you for services and when you call their business office..you'll leave messages until you're blue in the face. They must be hurting for funds because I asked for the total charge before I was seen, paid it in cash, they ran zero tests, and proceeded to try and extract another 89$! Screw this place. Terrible business practice. Don't take advantage of sick people.

The worst hospital, the worst customer service, they so rude and they didn't care about the patient , I didn t get any service and they charge me for nothing , it is better to stay sick than to go there , they just care how to get the money from the patient , the slowest ER staff , the billing staff so rude , never ever recommend this hospital

Valet service sucked. Lost our keys. Had to have locksmith come and make a new key fob. The worst thing was they didn't tell us they lost them for a hour after we came outside and waiting.

i go to the SMH lab facility off of University Parkway/Honore for routine blood work for years. the staff has been consistently professional and friendly. one could not ask for kinder treatment along with promptness and minimal waiting.

unfortunately many medical offices in SRQ outside of SMH do not have the quality of personnel that this SMH facility has. it's much appreciated as it contributes to my well being and even happiness because it genders trust in the broader SMH organization. please offer my continuing thanks to the team there.

Just outstanding.

Just outstanding.
I went in for Heart Cath and the total team from intake to the procedure to the hospital Cath unit overnight was great.
If it wasn't for the medical procedure it is a fine Swiss Hotel.

I delivered both of my babies here and just recently had to take my 1 month old in because he contracted RSV and had to be monitored. The doctors and nurses are amazing and take great care of their patients. I ve always had a great experience at SMH and would recommend anyone living in the area to make this their hospital of choice.

My first labor and recovery experience was subpar....

My first labor and recovery experience was subpar.
It would've been nice to have more than one nurse in the delivery room to help while in the pushing phase.
As for the mother baby unit the nurses were decent, after a 3 day stay, there were only 2 nurses that offered snacks, breastfeeding help, asked if I wanted my pain meds etc. Sarah Alcarez and Esther L .The others rarely checked up on us or made any kind of friendly gestures. The lactation expert nurses were forcing my son to try to latch no matter how much he cried or turned red it was never-ending. Callie lectured us on how we are doing it all wrong etc. But if he doesn't latch we have to feed him formula, not going to let him starve. It left all three of us frustrated, exhausted and still no progress with getting him to latch.

My second labor experience was way too fast along with back labor and a much younger anesthesiologist made the experience much more traumatic for me. Next time I will only ask for the most experienced, because I couldn't stop pushing during the spinal tap fiasco and was very scared of having my son in the OR. As for recovery all the nurses were great and asked us everytime if I needed help with anything. However not much assistance when needing to get out of bed but that could've been me not speaking up and trying to do it on my own. I actually was happy to see our nurse from last time, Esther L, who was able to see my first son again as a toddler. There wasn't a strong demand to breastfeed if I didn't want to try, made recovery more relaxing.

I've also been at SMH for MRIs, Catscans, and a broken arm. With no issues of unprofessionalism or anything. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Doctor came in and gave my husband a high five and said, "you have a kidney stone!" Like it was a fun day at the office! 2 weeks later we received a bill for over $12K!!!!!! For a kidney stone?!?!?!?!?!
Called SMH to see if they could work with us and they offered us 40% reduction to the bill..GEE THANKS!!! Called 6/26 to pay our share IN FULL. They took our payment GLADLY and said she would send a paid in full letter. 6 weeks later, still waiting for letter! Today we received a bill for over $7K for the SAME SERVICE!!! Called and they said THEY made an error and we still over $2500!! TOTAL BULL***. The girls was rude, obnoxious and said if we don't pay it in 30 days it is going to collection. REALLY?!?!?!!?!?!?!? That was a pretty damned expensive stone!!

my mother was admitted to SMH two weeks prior, the level of care, compassion, concern and love displayed to my mom, and family was beyond description, from the valet to the housekeeping and nutrition staff to the nurses, aids, and doctors all were outstanding. Never have I or my family encountered such an institution. Your involvement made the untimely passing of my mother so much easier by was of caring and compassion, my your entire staff continue their exemplary traits from now well into the future. You should all receive many Blessings from above.

I arrived by ambulance for a medical emergency aft...

I arrived by ambulance for a medical emergency after relocating to Florida in less then a two month period. I gave my insurance card and 700 dollar co payment upon arrival to emergency room. I ended up in hospital for 13 days, including hospital lockdown period when hurricane Irma was threatening area. I was never informed by billing department that my insurance would not cover any or most of procedures and medications administered while in hospital. I now have collection agency pressuring me about over 85 thousand dollar bill. I thought hospitals were there to help people and notify patients of potential bills to lessen the burden!I would have been transported to another hospital if I knew my insurance would not cover most of the expenses after out of pocket maximum. I am now stressed out daily while trying to achieve remission from a incurable but hopefully treatable rare disease. I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aids for the dignity, respect and service given to me most of the time.

I wish I could give 0 stars. WORST ER attention I ve received in my life. Don t ever go there if you have an emergency. The nurses have NO IDEA what they are doing and they don t even care. Nobody is going to help you or calm you down. They don t care and are not professional at all. I highly doubt that they even went to college. The on call doctor, Mark Shank Do, was the worst doctor I ve seen in my life. I was there with a CLEAR bone fracture and he didn t even do X-Rays. I had to ask all the questions. He didn t even touch me. Awful. How can they be in the medicine industry if they don t care about their patients? Terrible experience. Never going back. They should be out of a job and leave room for actual professionals.

Worst experience of our lives! Our two-year-old da...

Worst experience of our lives! Our two-year-old daughter, Lily, was very sick over the past weekend with constant vomiting, fever and diarrhea. Lily could not keep any water down without immediately throwing it back up and she hadn't had a wet diaper in 12 hours. After calling her pediatric doctor and having the nurse tell us to immediately take Lily to the SMH Emergency Room for fluids due to dehydration, we rushed to the hospital only to wait forever to be seen! The room was dirty to say the least. Once a doctor finally came into our room, he told us that he didn't want to give my two-year-old an IV Fluid because "that would traumatize her". After giving Lily one Popsicle, we were dismissed. Lily's fever (104.9 after multiple Advil and Tylenol) and diarrhea got worse and she became incredibly lethargic. We returned to SMH's Emergency Room within 24 hours desperate for help, only to hear that there was a 3 hour wait and the lady at the front desk was very rude and not the least bit sympathetic. We decided to go to Doctor's Hospital and were immediately escorted into a very clean ER room, where the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The ER doctor at Doctor's Hospital saw right away that my two-year-old was severely dehydrated and needed to be put on IV Fluids asap! After being at Doctor's Hospital for three hours and receiving the best of care, Lily unfortunately was so dehydrated that she had to go by Ambulance!! back to SMH to be admitted for 48 hours!!! Once we got there, we had to once again, WAIT FOREVER!!! to get a room! We were admitted at 4 AM!!! Plus, I had to beg the nurses to continue Lily's IV Fluids so she could become hydrated again, but of course, that took forever- no one at that hospital is in ANY HURRY or CARES!!!! Needless to say, that stupid SMH ER doctor that "didn't want to traumatize" my daughter with fluids, ended up traumatizing all of us 100% more than we needed to be. Worst hospital EVER!!!! If I ever have an emergency again, I'm driving across town to Doctor's Hospital, where they know how to take care of their patients.

Very terrifying experience based on the circumstances (needing Heart surgery!!) but the nurse and other staff made us feel so comfortable. A huge thank you to our nurse, Sharelle, who was positive, uplifting, and professional who helped put me at ease and make the process as smooth as possible :)

Unexpected trip to hospital with chest pain!! I am a senior with limited income!! Was treated and released after a 2 day stay. I was very concerned about the cost!! Hospital employees kept saying. DONT WORRY ABOUT THE COST. Payments will be will be accepted ! Not 1 arrangement was affordable:( The "billing Mafioso" between the cost of medications. Hospital charges..So called specialist's...My funeral would have been cheaper !!! Its sad that seniors have become the cash cow in the medical field!!

Most of the nurses are irresponsible the ones I've come across. First of all they have allowed someone I know close to me get away with not taking the medication they were suppose to as nurses "make sure" the patient took the medication before they signed off in their charts that the "patient" took the medicine. Out of all these years they have allowed her to not take her medication and eventually when she got home I find all of the medication either stashed in a "bag" that she got from the gift shop where she buys candy along with the trash or in her "wallet" of her purse or in her "purse' just thrown in or in a "pocket" of the purse. Technically speaking as "educated and trained" nurses they didn't do their job. I have pictures and proof of this and of other things they have done wrong. Im making sure this will be a very, very big lawsuit or maybe I'll just expose how much these "experienced" nurses aren't really experienced at all. They are lazy and they trust so much into everyone and their laziness that they forget everything they worked hard to learn in school.

Be careful when you book any tests at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. I was quoted a price at the time I made the appointment and since I was self-paying, I had to pay that day or they wouldn t make the appointment, which was fine. Then 2 months later I received a letter (with no information except for a visit #, no date of service, no type of service, nothing, just send your money), saying I owed another $250. I called their Billing Advocacy Center thinking it was an oversight since I had already paid up front. But no, their staff member misquoted me the price and after allegedly doing an audit I was charged an additional $250. Even though it was their mistake, they even refused to set up a payment plan. I will say that the last person I spoke to in the Billing Advocacy Center was very pleasant and empathetic but obviously her superior should be in another line of work as she does not share her empathy. Please don t insult me or others by posting a cookie-cutter response from owner to call anyone, it is useless. Just like Shay S says below, DO NOT TRUST THEM, they ll quote you one price and charge you another.

Everyone was so kind and helpful!! From the doctors to the transport people.
The waiting room in breast heath center - where women sit waiting for results or are "parked" between procedures is not conducive to feeling "good" to me it was like a funeral home waiting room, Dark, cold, uninviting. Walls are dark, art works is unpleasant, music YUCK.
Felt like we were waiting for bad news, ohhhh we are so sorry....
Breast cancer is NOT a death sentence, but that room sure made me feel like someone was about to come in to tell me bad news.
I would be more than happy to talk more about this if asked. THIS space should NOT be so depressing and cold.
SMH is a wonderful hospital. As much as possible please look at the space from a patient prospective. Staff and facilities are wonderful.

From the doctors to the nurses everyone was so caring, considerate and very prompt with treating me and my symptoms. Thank you so much for all you ve done for for doctors, nurses and EMT s! I would highly recommend SMH for anyone needed immediate care! Best ER ever!

I have been here for 6 hours, due to my two doctors stating due to my new acute symptoms of nausea, slowed speech, burning and pressure pain in my cranium, they suggested I go to the E.R. I went to have a MRI of my Brain instead and still was urged to go to the E.R. Due to could be life threatening voicemail she left me. I get here, and explain all of this, even let them listen to the voicemail messages...6 hours later I am finally going for more imaging and my nurse instructs me it s going to take a long time for the test and even longer to get a report. Your doctor should have thought about that before sending you here for a simple outpatient procedure.... . This is the opposite of why you go to the ER. I left work, lost money, to pay here in a freezer to be told I have a headache !!!!

I was rushed to the emergency due to severe food poisoning and dehydration. The wait was an hour and a half I was vomiting all over the emergency room. They were heartless. I kept telling them how sick I was they just kept handing me a new plastic bag to vomit in. I finally collapsed and went unconscious. We I came to I was on a stretcher and in some small room and waited forever for some to come in. Finally a nurse came in --I was so sick and could barely talk--and she said to me - Boy you have made quite a mess in here there is vomit every where--She State we are going to start you on an IV. This is how people die!!!!!!!! Horrible Horrible experience.

Terrible experiences every time I go to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for anything. Told me the wrong time for a procedure once and then laughed when I showed up early, telling me it was a problem with their scheduling software. Another time I showed up on time but was forced to wait almost 6 hours after my scheduled time because of another software issue. Third time, I had a biopsy which SMH farmed out to about 5 different labs after I specifically told them not to, resulting in almost $10,000 in billings. This is a third-rate hospital that I am going to avoid.

Becky was wonderful checking me in - I had a few questions for her and she was knowledgeable and smiled the whole time. Then Jennifer and Rose, phlebotomists, are exceptional women on top of being fabulous at their job. With what little exposure I've had with SMH and it's staff, it has always been a pleasant experience.

Went in with my 1 year old who had a fever and discovered she had an ear infection. The nurses were all very nice but the doctor, Mark, we ended up seeing was very strange and ordered a completely unnecessary chest X-ray for my little girl, saying her saturation levels were at 98% instead of 100%. Consultation with another doctor since then concluded that 98% is perfectly normal and. Chest X-ray should never have been ordered. So we were there 3.5hrs until past 1am with a feverish child and a chest X-ray to pay for. This was so unecessary and was an up sell.

SMH is a great medical center. My experience over the years has been so wonderful due to the caring, friendly staff. I couldn t imagine going anywhere else for my lab work or medical care.
Thanks SMH for all the excellent care I ve received and for making your services so readily available in multiple areas.

Without doubt the worst hospital experience I have ever experienced. A hell of a place for my relatives and me. They left my father in law unattended for long stretches of time. Doctors spoke to him rudely (they justified it as "being "direct" with the patient.). His sister said that the staff treats pieces of meat better than they treated him, and I agree. We ended up getting much better care elsewhere, and at a better cost. The hospital is a lonely bitter hell of a place and the staff only ensures that it is terrible.

The ER was full of patients when I arrived at 4 pm. Most of the people who were here when I arrived at still here in ER waiting to see a physician...and it is now 7 pm. Not well run. Frustrating and inefficient.
Go somewhere else and avoid this zombie apocalypse.

This star is for the valet parking service... that...

This star is for the valet parking service... that's about the closest this hospital came to "quality"... I took my mom in to the emergency room with high blood sugar and constant vomiting. We were put in a cold, and very small room with absolutely no medical supplies. The nurse who took her blood samples bruised her arm and kept throwing the trash on the floor. The sink, floors and walls were dreadfully dirty. I had to ask twice for a blanket for her. I stated that she felt dehydrated and hadn't been able to keep food down! Not once was she ever offered water or at least crackers?! She was given insulin and told to get dressed and go home!! They did nothing more to help her. She was dizzy, and weak and the nurse came in to the room and once again said we needed to get up and leave. She was given prescription to pick up; (they told us it'd be no charge) we took it to the pharmacy and were asked to pay?! The most frustrating part is that I'm sure they'll be quick to send us the bill. As if they actually cared for her.

Well, I have lots to say on behalf of my family. O...

Well, I have lots to say on behalf of my family. On June 10th my brother was flown in and taken to surgery immediately.
One of his Surgeons was Dr Al-wari. I may be spelling that wrong... Sorry. I am going to say one of the only reasons I'm rating this place a 4 is because of him. That's it....
From the time my brother was here until Aug 24th when he was released (2.5 mos) was an up and down roller coaster.
4th floor critical care.... Needs some retraining on their approach to families in their time of confusion and sadness... my brother is 33 and was single. So here we were 3 siblings trying to figure out all of the issues for our brother and make all the medical decisons. Some of the nurses were great... They know who they are because they were told and Thanked.
When a family is solely basing life or death decisions for another sibling off of what they hear and know, a nurse should not be rude or snive. We had to travel 2 hrs daily to be there for him. Sometimes we missed the dr...when we would try to catch up on what was going on they (many) was (rude) (irritated) and (bothered).
What a shame to make ppl feel that way during such a time. I know 4th floor is busy, but 5 minutes to come into a room, reassure that you know the patient and update the family, is not that much to ask.
Many sat at the desk gossping and on their phone. Like I said, some not all... But act like 5 minutes with the family is just sooo much. Dr Al-wari made a point to talk to us whatever hour it was and gave us a valid medical oppinion.
3rd floor was ok, Ryan the PT deserves alot of credit for the care and concern he puts into hospital patients. He was a God send and is in this job for the right reason.
The Rehab pavillion was Awesome. They have nurses with much better attitudes and a more friendly approach. PCTs were even good. The therapists are wonderful.
Thank you to the front desk check in/out employee's on the 4th floor. They treated us better than anyone else up there aside from the one Dr. And also, the nurses ought to rethink having quality of life talks with the family unless they are sure they can't be rehabiliated. I left there many nights crying
Because of the way they tried to guilt us... BTW .. Dr. al- wari was right for letting us know not to give up on my brother. He is now home with supervisions... But is rehabilitating wonderfully. Thank you to the care team that saved his life... And had a good attitude while doing it. I hope you are all truly blessed. The other's need to find a new job.
Idk how this hospital got so lucky.. every Hospital needs a Dr like Al-wari... He went the extra mile. My brother mattered to him.

I have been working with the hospital since Decemb...

I have been working with the hospital since December 2017. During my INITIAL visit which was a trauma alert, all went BEAUTIFULLY.

However, in January of 2018 I had to return for follow-up surgery. The experience with CASE MANAGEMENT was the worst possible. Coming from Miami, I would have expected that down there, NOT HERE.

The persons worked with were uniformed, rude and very APATHETIC to my case. What bothers me is I was being "helped" by two people and neither seemed to actually CARE. The lack of professionalism was also quite apparent. Why take on the job if you don't like people? Im the one who's injured and needing HELP. Instead, I was left in the dark about my treatment until I MADE IT A POINT to get an answer.....

I've called the administrative office to leave a complaint and nobody was available. I don't do voicemail, who KNOWS when it'll be HEARD.....

I had the luck of working with an AMAZING team of nurses, techs, diet people and doctors throughout BOTH visits.I had even been told by all previous nurses it was a pleasure to have me as a patient, and I genuinely enjoyed them and their bedside manner. I will miss them dearly.

Somehow, my last day I was assigned to a nurse who seemed to be bothered by ANY request made. I mean, something as simple as warming up my food! I dont know if she was having a bad day,but her body language spoke VOLUMES. HELLO, I'M LAID UP BECAUSE I HAD SURGERY....AND IT HURTS!!

Yet, so much as the notion of requesting pain medication and it was an uneasy feeling. NOBODY should have to feel thus way in a hospital..

All in all, that's why I provided the 2-star rating.

All the nurses were very attentive during my day procedure. Authentically caring and compassionate! My doctor, Dr. Perrin, was also very caring and compassionate... something that's tough to find these days. A+++ rating for the staff, doctor and the facility, which was immaculate!

We just had our first experience here and it was great, starting with valet parking and ease of check-in to the timeliness and quality of the work and the check-out process. Every staff member was kind, understanding, and helpful. Five thumbs up!

We were in the waiting room for over an hour and when they finally saw us we waited in the room they put us in for another hour! All for one x-ray that should ve taken 15 minuets! I will not recommend this place for anyone in a rush or in general.

If your looking for somewhere that will do blood tests urinalysis and x-rays and not give you the results but charge you anyways this is the place. Never anywhere to sit people laying on the floor of the waiting room for hours. No compassion what so ever. Only place in sarasota that takes patients without insurance no wonder its so dirty and all the employees are so rude and hostile.

going to emergency and could barely drive. the valet takes her sweet time getting me a wheelchair and getting me inside. She parks me 10 ft from the person to see so everyone else just thinks it's okay to walk around me. Finally I just wheel it in front of everyone and tell the lady I'm having chest pains. I spend the next 20 minutes while people with no sense of urgency get ekg and vitals. 30 minutes from when I got there I'm taken back to a room where finally people actually have a sense of urgency. I'm assigned a Nuerosurgeon who becomes my primary doctor. What I needed was a hospitalist to manage between the cardiologist and the neurologist.

I walked out of the er yesterday, 4 hours of sitting in the the worst pain in my entire life( and I've battled them stage 4 cancer) and they gave me a tylenol and a low muscle relaxer. Said it was a muscle pinch or pul. I have had both in the past and this is was at worse. I am almost positive it's a herniated disk. No hold from smh will never go back.

My husband was seen in the ER last week. He was in such severe pain, he couldn't stand up on his own. He was sent to the JMR fast trac where he was given pain meds and testing. I understand Covid rules and regulations but I asked to speak with someone regarding his diagnosis and the PA would not even come to the waiting room to speak with me. He was given Dilaudid and discharged to walk out on his own with no assistance or wheelchair. Thankfully, I was sitting close and was able to assist him to our car. Complete disregard for the patient safety and disrespect for a wife who had questions regarding his diagnosis.

Fantastic cardiac care. As far as I'm concerned I have very high confidence in this hospital and the staff. I was there for invasive cardiac procedure and these folks were aces. I want to stay away from hospitals, but It gives me a lot of confidence in a positive outcome in any future care.

I got there early, filled out the paperwork. Only had to wait a few minutes until I was called. Went to the MRI waiting area again only a few minutes until I was called to the IV room. Once done they took me to the MRI machine and started my MRI. The technician kept me informed of what was going to be happening. My experience was very satisfying. My thanks to the people in the MRI section.

I wish there were more stars I could give them. The staff and doctors are fantastic!!
After a out patient procedure as they are escorting you out to the FREE valet parking, they stop by a small lounge to offer you snacks, coffee, sandwiches etc.
I cannot say enough about the volunteers, they have over 600 that are very nice and courteous.

if i could put negative 5 stars i would. Sarasota memorial used to be the best hospital in Sarasota and over the weekend i went in for severe stomach pains and heart palpitations and other symptoms. The nurses were very nice in triage but i was told while sitting there by a nurse "Why didn't you wear your work scrubs we could have gotten you in faster" (I work in the medical field). I was completely appalled but to sick to react. I had a very high fever, limbs were numb and i was not able to walk or function properly. NOT ONCE was i offered a wheel chair or any assistance. I had to give many tubes of blood for testing which is normal of course, i have great veins but the triage nurse was literally fishing in my arm because he missed the vein. I told him it was understandable and it happens. He then accidentally pulled the catheter out of my arm and blood was all over me, the chair, the floor and he started to panic dropping things left and right. This mess was HARDLY cleaned up or sanitized what so ever and i ended up cleaning everything off myself. 45 minutes later after sitting there i was called back again not to go in a room but i was advised by the Nurse "I broke one of the tubes of blood". i had a EKG done in Triage that came back Abnormal and my heart was beating much to fast. After sitting in the waiting room curled up in a ball, shaking and crying from the chest pain, light headedness and fever for over 2 hours i was then sent to ANOTHER waiting room to sit in "Fast Track". i was taken to a TINY room, with Two small chairs no bed or anything. A L.P.N walked in and introduced herself i advised her whats going on and she stated the Dr will be in shortly. 45 minutes later the Dr. Barged in without knocking or anything, stands by the door (No intentions of evaluating Anything) and said "Katie, i really dont even know why your here your labs are fine there is nothing wrong with you". I then proceeded to tell him what was going on and the symptoms, i also advised him just because my "labs" are fine doesn't mean something serious isn't going on. I advised him the day prior i was throwing up blood also. He advised me "This really isn't a emergency, do you want a prescription?" I asked him how he figured throwing up blood and heart palpitations are not urgent he stated "Its just not, do you want some Tylenol?" i advised him i wasn't here for Tylenol or any prescriptions and that i wanted to find out whats wrong. I advised him he was no assistance and that i want my IV taken out so i can leave, he laughed and walked out. I took out my own IV and i left the hospital. I gave birth to my daughter at SMH in 2010 and had the best experience ever. i was so highly disappointed i will NEVER return to SMH again, Lakewood ranch fully assessed me and has been helping through everything. they obtained my labs from SMH and advised me that my Liver labs were too high and that further evaluation was needed. i have been in the medical field for over 5 years, currently working for one of the most well known doctors in Sarasota and i will say this was one of the Top 3 WORST experiences at a hospital i have ever had. The building might have been cleaned up but your staff is horrible and your Doctors need to learn compassion and they need a big reality check instead of just trying to write everyone random prescriptions! especially in a community like Sarasota.

ER was pretty standard. Longer wait than expected for someone (wife) with a bowel obstruction and in a lot of pain.

On another note, Dr. Chomiak was an amazing surgeon for my wife s lung issues and the folks on the heart and thoracic floor are on point. Highly recommend.
