I had lab work done and the lady does a good job each time; especially since I am a hard stick. She helped me with other test also, since I forgot to bring back a paper with it. She is a very nice person.

Top notch care after major surgery even though I don't remember four days at all.

After I was cleared from the medical side I was taken over to SMH Rehabilitation. Again the treatment was top notch. The rehabilitation treatment I received enabled me to do a lot more than I was able to from the same type of surgery four and a half years ago.

Just had my first baby here and was NOT happy with the staff, doctors or care. Sure it could've been worse, but could've been a lot better too. My son is in the NICU and just saw his doctor on Saturday after delivering him via c section Wednesday. Just felt rushed to be discharged and things were not explained with my or my son's care. Would recommend my OB Dr. Kenton on Bee Ridge, she is wonderful.

Excellent care by friendly professional staff. The X-ray results were very slow in coming; except for the delay (approximately 90 minutes to get results), this would be a 5 star rating.

It's literally the absolutely worse hospital I have ever been to, and I go to the hospital maybe once every 6 years.
I went to the ER last night because I have been having shooting and sharp pains in the top of my right foot. Upon intake, I explicitly stated that I have barely been able to walk and I don't want drugs. I want someone to tell me or help me figure out why I am recently in constant pain.
The intake nurse said to my face with every bit of accusatory inflection that "We are not giving you drugs, because you have been drinking".
I never asked for drugs, nor do I want them. Regardless of the fact I indeed had been drinking. I was then ignored for over two hours.
Absolutely the most unprofessional way to treat people.
You are a hospital, and your job is to take care of people, not make assumptions.
I came to ask for advice and help.
Thank you for continuing to prove that the health care system is based only on money in our country. So very sad.

I went in for a major abdominal wall reconstruction in May of 2018.
Following the 4 hour surgery, in recovery I was only given 5 mg of pain meds/- oxycodeine over a 9 hr period, screaming in pain throughout the night. When my surgeon arrived the following morning and learned of this he was very upset and immediately got me on a pain drip system for 2 days, what a relief. But after the 2 days the hospital went to their policy of 5 mg per 4 hours, regardless of your surgery or pain level, and if that's not enough then tough cookies. You can request more and they will bump it up to 10 mg after the first dose and that's the limit from then on.
Let me tell you, you don't want to go through a surgery like this that far under medicated. I was to be hospitalized for 5 to 7 days, I demanded to my surgeon that I be discharged immediately on 3rd day. Drug myself home where I had an old prescription of pain meds and was able to finally relieve myself of severe pain.
Beyond that, I would have to say the hospital staff on the floor I was placed on was very inexperienced, 22 to 24 year old head nurses. I could go on and on about the mistreatment and lack of care from most all of them, including their superiors.
Sneak in pain meds. and good luck if your considering this place.
I've been through 19 surgeries and this was by far the worst recovery care I've ever had

St. Armands Urgent Care. Easy to get in. Very professional staff. The PA and nurse spent a good amount of time with me and gave me good advise and a recommendation to the doctor I need to see.

I was nervous going out because I have been self-quarintined since March due to Covid 19.
I needed to get caught up on some tests that were delayed. I went early and the
Lady at the front desk was alone, but did a great job of trying to make my wait
As short as possible.
I did not get her name but she should get a Thank You.
I did notice that the front desk for signing patients in should be protected from such close contact with the public.
Plexiglass would be a safeguard for them.
Roses for all Medical Staff, Doctors, Nurses, entire Medical Staff.

Good doctors but unethical and overly greedy company. They couldn t come to an agreement with Cigna insurance so I am being forced to replace several of my Doctors in their group in the middle of a pandemic with a chronic and debilitating auto immune disease. Absolutely abhorrent thing to do to their patients. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope the people making the decisions in regards to the contracts with the insurance companies have to answer to and be held accountable for such greediness and harming the sick and elderly during an already scary and stressful pandemic.

The E.R back rooms are filthy and appear as though they haven t been cleaned in a quite a while.. I have photos that would nauseate anyone. The staff just tells you to go from room to room to appear as though they are treating you but they are not. Very disappointed.

Do not go there all they ll make you do is wait wait and wait, staff is very rude, they don t care, you have to wait 2 hours to see a doctor, you have to wait 3 to get an X-ray and another 2 hours to get the results. Don t even try!

Please note the representation of a short wait are totally misleading.

Avoid if you can.

The Registration Experience is a total failure! Six registration stations totally busy with an incoming on-rush, took us 45 minutes to get through and then another 15 minutes to get a wheelchair. Needless to say, we were late for our appointment.

Then to top that off, upon arrival the following week for the same procedure, we were told that we had to register again. Same name, same birthday, same address, same phone number, same insurance coverage!

What a bottle neck in an otherwise fine hospital. Some higher management group had their stupid hats on when they dictated this process!

Ruthy and Alex have to be the best Nurses i have come across in a very long time...my wife was in a long painful labor and they were there every step of the way...constantly checking in and never missing a beat....

Ruthy spoke Spanish making her life so much easier and so much more comfortable throughout the entire process and we will talk about her endlessly

Alex was there over night to check in every hour or so never allowing any issues to come about...

The rest of the staff was very nice and comforting...

Only issue....They need to renew their contract with Cigna....

Horrible operator answering incoming calls. She hung up on me as i was speaking and said she had emergency calls as; if my call were not important. When asked for the supervisor she then stated she was not available. I then, requested her name and she refused to give her name, she stated her name was "operator #2" she was absolutely rude and extremely unprofessional. Dated 7/16/19 @5:51pm.

This is the worst emergency room experience I ve ever had they got me in quickly but put me in fast track, I ve been in here since 10:15 am!!!! The room is beyond disgusting I don t know how this place can even remain open! Everyone has been extremely rude to me and unprofessional, I m here because of what I believe to be kidney stones & I m in excruciating pain and was sent home with a pinched nerve This place is absolutely disgusting and horrible treatment. I can t believe this!!!! I will never come here again and I strongly advise, even if you re on your death bed GO ELSEWHERE!

I just gave birth to my baby there a couple days ago and they really are the best hospital in the area!! The nurses and staff are so knowledgeable!!! Also Kristen the nurse I had on the labor and delivery floor was outstanding. She did an awesome job supporting me throughout my labor from the time I got there to the time went to mother baby floor!! Big kudos to her and the rest of the smh staff!! Thank you all so much for being the best at what you do!!!!

Hannah Bair is the worst Dr. I have ever met. She works in the ER. She has no bedside manners and should be fired from SMH. She told me that I should go to Venice Hospital if I was not happy with her service. Save your money. Don't waste $1 on her. I don't think she is smart enough to even mop the floors at SMH!

Update: I called the number below and filed a complaint. I got a letter and a call from Reuben Holland (Director of ER) . I told him I spent $300 and received no treatment for my money. He said he would not refund any of my money. I found out online he was accused of over billing Medicare in the past. He was also quoted for saying to his staff "The way to keep your job and the boys happy is to keep the money coming in" That is proof to me that all he cares about is $$$ and treating patients as fast as possible in his Fast Track ER!!!

Excellent care! Staff is very professional on all levels, doctors and nurses I saw had great bedside manner. SMH is a clean campus inside and out. The food is also good! For family or friends visiting you during your stay there, they have little shops and cafe places to grab food from as well. I have had nothing, but the best of care here and would recommend this hospital to anyone in need of medical services. Thank you for all that you do SMH Staff!

Came in for severe tremors and ER doctor said it was all in my head. Upon further investigation of medications give a week prior from a stroke in which I was treated there for. One of the medications prescribed Elavil was causing me to have a bad reaction. Dr. Haines prescribed me an antidepressant for stroke symptoms including paralysis of left side, facial droop on left side, slurred speech and confusion. Was not treated well by staff in ER. If you value your family members care DO NOt go to this hospital. I have been misdiagnosed 3 times here. And all were major issues evolving surgeries for gall bladder and appendix that I was told was fine and both were wrapped in scar tissue and dead. No longer working period.

First ever SMH mammogram at Rand Blvd location (previous screens done elsewhere in Sarasota). Entire experience exceeded expectations: from the friendly, professional gentleman taking temps and checking me in at the entrance, to the extremely efficient and caring young man single-handedly providing quick but thorough triage, to the experienced and thoughtful mammography tech. Well done SMH!

Always appreciate the courtesy and professionalism of the staff, immaculate facility, and efficient and timely operations. I'm typically in, out and on my way in a matter of minutes. Excellent.

My 3-year old son went in with stomach pain. We were there for about 4 hours, and got about 3-4 minutes of face-time with a doctor and an x-ray. It turns our he was just constipated.

So not only was the service was truly awful, but the bill was over $1,200. I emailed to complain, and received a call from a lady that said that the charges were reasonable. I understand that ER should be more expensive, as doctors need to be on call 24/7. And as a family, we regularly do checkups and exams to avoid any surprises. But it is disappointing that the health care industry became this. Clearly business before people.

Way to go Sarasota Memorial! Love the $300 per minute rate!

By far a horrible excuse for a hospital. My daughter broke her wrist they just x-rayed it & put a splint on it sent us on our way. What they didn t tell us is that she dislocated it but they wouldn t let her see the ortho on call b/c they don t accept her insurance which we weren t told until days later when she was scheduled to have surgery for a plate & screws to be placed in her wrist. It s always about money not about the well being of the patient.

Horrible emergency room not organized! Worst experience if you have an accident don't go there! From 4.30 pm till 2am just for pain medication and horrible treatment! And the bill for 41,000 is ridiculous! This hospital just want your money!

I recently had surgery at Sarasota Memorial hospital. What an incredible place. A well oiled machine. My care from registration, pre-op, anesthesia, surgery, post op to discharge was so efficient. Everyone cares and loves what they do. Thank you for your great care. I am truly grateful . Warm regards, Tom

I had hernia surgery performed by Dr. Russell Novak in the surgical center yesterday. From the time we dropped the car to the valet to getting checked in then taken upstairs by a very kind volunteer, we were treated with the utmost care. I can t even begin to give enough praise to the CNA, the nurses, the anesthesiologist team and all of other workers that helped me. Each one treated me as if I were their only patient. Dr. Novak was kind and light hearted while explaining what he was going to do. My prayers , praise and thanks go out to all of you!

always very kind & fast in checking me in. wonderful ER; and the best lab person ever - i dont like needles and the lab tech here is the only one my husband will allow to touch his arm. Thank you for your professional time and courtesy.

Danielle Rankin, nurse at SMH, gave me horrible treatment the morning I was discharged after surgery. She was not only rude and cruel, she disappeared when it was time for me to be seated in a wheelchair. So, I ended up walking myself out of the hospital to a valet with a 45 minute wait. I retrieved the keys from the valet and walked myself (after spinal surgery) to the roof of the parking garage to retrieve my car. The gentlemen handling the food service were helpful and kind. The patient room and bathroom were dirty. I'm not sure who is responsible for this, but none of my regular medication was ordered nor supplied to me, and I'm a diabetic. SMH overall I'm quite disappointed with your facility.

The Nursing care was excellent. Your housekeeping staff is excellent. The hospital was spotless.
Food service could be significantly improved. The quality of product is inferior to the standards of the rest of the medical facility. It's astounding to me that my breakfast tray arrived only 2 1/2 hours late and then only because an RN went down to the kitchen to get it and hand deliver it! Thank you Alex!

Dr. Anthony Cavalli and his exceptional in house rehabilitation staff helped a close family friend after a stroke. Every member of his team from nurse to various rehab therapy techs were exemplary in every way for a 10 day intesive rehab. From ER intake to stabilisation to intensive rehab to discharge could not have been handled any better, made a very stressful time tolerable would not hesitate recommending Dr. C and Sarasota Memorial.

The staff was in to much of a hurry. They missed 4 places that needed stichted and two of the ones they did broke over night. Very unprofessional they didn't give me any antibiotics or pain manegment. Mind you my little toe was ripped off. Venice ER was amazing and fixed Sarasota memorial mess ups. Sorry but this was the WORST expeirense ever.

The quality of the care given to me in the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Sleep Clinic was excellent in all respects. Dr. Adams demonstrated competence in his evaluation of my sleep disorder(Apnea.). He and the staff were especially effective in responding to my concern. They clearly structured my transition to treatment. A very positive experience with this medical facility. No shortcomings noted.

During my recent visit to St. Armands Urgent Care the receptionist was very courteous and efficient, the wait time very short, and the nurse taking the blood sample was exceptionally skilled and efficient.

I have been there this past Sunday morning. Worst emergency care I have ever visited. I was in great pain, vomiting periodically, and the doctor told me just to take Gatorade. I repeated that I did not feel good but she insisted that I should be taking only Gatorade. I immediately visited Doctor's Hospital since I was not feeling ok with the diagnose put at Sarasota Memorial. I was diognosed with a completely different sickness and put on prescription drugs immediately. My advice is; Stay away from Sarasota memorial. The doctor was completely ignorant and inexperienced....

My experience at the Urgent Care on University was great, from the time I walked through the door to a smiling face, who registered me in. The wait time was less than 5 mins. I was called back to a room from a very nice nurse who verified my information and the reason why I was there. She told me there were 2 people ahead of me. The nurse walked out and within a minute the PA came in and we talked about my plan of care. Within 5 mins my Rx were called in and I was out the door feeling like the Urgent Care really cared about me and my concerns. I love this Urgent Care Center.

I was misdiagnosed at Manatee memorial and had to come here to be treated properly. Unfortunately Lakewood Ranch hospital misdiagnosed my father and he passed away due to their negligence. I live I downtown Bradenton, but I will always find a way here if I need to go to the hospital.

This is an excellent place to go for lab tests ! My name was called immediately. The X-ray technician was wonderful! I was in and out in 15 minutes. I got my results early this morning. I have never had such a great lab experience!

Sarasota is the better Hospital in the area. I would not recommend Blake or manatee memorial. Sarasota saved my sons life from what Blake did to him. However the Doctors communication with the family is just not there. That's been my experience. I asked a nurse the other day, " don't the doctors call the family when they ask any more" I told her they called me when he was in Richmond , She said sarcastically this isn't Richmond , ITS FLORIDA So this morning I got a call from one of my sons doctors unexpectedly. She started in on me and from her first word she was angry and abusive.. She upset me so bad I had to hang up on her, and I never hung up on a doctor in my life . Most of the nurses are very nice there's just a few here and there that are hard to speak with.

My mother has been receiving care here at Sarasota Memorial for almost a week. The stay in emergency was deliberate. All the staff, from nurses and doctors, room cleaners to dirty laundry collectors, meal ordering to cooks have been top drawer. I am so glad I brought my mother here to Sarasota. I truly feel she has received the best care possible.

The medical services were great. The parking is scary. I used the garage near the Heart Center and went to the top as there were no places sooner. Coming down is enough to give a weak heart and attack.

Sarasota Memorial left me sitting in a chair for 3 hours with abdominal pain.. didn t run any tests . I had chills, temp of 96.4, blood pressure of 160 had been sent by urgent care to hospital. I finally got up discharged myself and told them if it gets any worse will be back in an Ambulance. Awful experience glad to say saw Doctor today for diverticulitis and on the mend.

The faci ity at University is looking tired and old, yet it is only a few years old. It is quite different from the Hospital which always looks fresh, even though it is used by so many people.

The best hospital I was born here as well as all of my siblings. I've been here with many emergencies such as having my appendix removed and I've had a phenomenal experience every time. If you ever need in emergency this is the place to be God forbid.

I was amazed that they could do not one-not two-but three worst experiences I have had with the medical field. I was amazed that they could do treatment plan of my care without doing a assessment of my body, to see the rash on my torso or on my legs, auscultation orf my lung sounds wheezing from a allergic reaction,or even ask my medical history. Then, make smart remarks when I voluntarily stated a I had a anticholingeric allergy after having my skull reconstructed and a mass removed from spine that impedes me from getting antihistamines without tonic clonic movements and depressing my breathing. He stated I have never heard of a anticholingeric allergy. Apparently you didn't study too hard and Sarasota Memorial is too cheap to pay for a Micromedex or Google. Then hearing the staff laughing that their patient walked out AMA earlier. It must be because they were impressed by your five star Magnet status and awesome care. Next time I will stay at home and hope for the best because of your substandard care.

Sent Resident there for serious medical issue, she was released 5 hours later with not a reason...Came back to facility and we sent her out again within the hour to different E.R.and Hospital where she was admitted and was tested and put in ICU next day..Called risk management and told that they would review and give us an answer between 30 to 60 days..
If you or your loved one is sent home and you are still seriously ill, please go to another E.R.

Took my husband in last night about 8:30 intake was quick, but after that it was awful was shut in a room and left there for three hours with no treatment while all the staff was doing nothing but laughing at the desk.Everytime my husband asked for help they would say their coming go back in your room. So he ended up checking himself out. With no help from them.

Here in Florida on vacation, our grandson spiked a fever early Tuesday morning, went to a stat care on Tamiami Rd, results were Sinusitis on the verge of bronchitis, Negative flu swab(quick results), early Wednesday morning woke up with a 105 fever, off to the hospital ER, male triage nurse was a jerk. Thank heavens for Deanna the LPN and the Nurse Practitioner we saw next, another Flu test ( sent to the lab) strep test, positive for Flu A. Caring, thorough, would highly recommend. Moral of the story, beware of false negative test results with a fast results time and thank heavens for people like Deanna and our Nurse Practitioner.

The nurses at this hospital are disgusting! The girls at the icu reception were both incredibly rude and the guy, Jacob Checchin the manager told me, was in the parking garage doing drugs. Ugh dont get me started how disgusting their bathrooms are.

On Sunday, November 15th it was necessary for my husband to go to your emergency department. We were impressed with the safety and professionalism of your staff. The medical staff were respectful and compassionate and resolved the issue explaining each procedure as they went along. Thank you.
We used valet parking (which we were surprised operated all night, seeing that we had arrived at 2:00 a.m.)
Upon leaving the hospital while waiting for our car, we observed an elderly woman in a wheel chair waiting for a ride home, she was distraught and crying, however, the young man, who was at the valet station, treated her with such caring and compassion that I felt I needed to let the hospital know. He stood with her and comforted her in conversation. As we watched his interaction, the woman became calm and he stayed by her side until her ride came. We were very impressed and wish we had taken a moment to find out his name. The time was around 5:00 a.m.
When we left, we were relieved that our situation had been resolved so efficiently, but also, so see that the staff outside the hospital doors are as caring as the professionals inside.

Again, thank you

Unfortunately I have procedures every few months in the endoscopy unit at Sarasota Memorial. The staff are wonderful. They are kind and competent. It makes the visits so much easier. Everyone from the front desk to the techs to the nurses and doctors are first class. I also have been in multiple departments connected to the hospital (outpatient labs, rehab, ER, etc). I would highly recommend SMH for any health needs!

I want the public to know that this hospital charge you for basic service ( 2 motrin and nausea medication) $1000 for the hospital bill, and another $462 for the doctor, I never felt this outrageous charges for a simple prescription, they told me that this is standard charges due to the fact that the hospital is an emergency level 3 trauma center. My question is: what that has to do with the simple case that they had with my daughter? on top of it they ruin my credit while I was disputing the robbing charges.
They never told me that they will charge me those amounts, I specifically ask how much will be, nobody was able to tell me, but they were quick to send me the bills. I could travel to Europe with the price of 2 Motrin and Nausea Medication at the Sarasota Memorial. This is stealing my hard working money, and the worst of all is that they believe that they are right...
