I went to Sarasota Memorial Hospital to evaluate sudden swelling of my right knee on 7/6/17. I was seen by a Physician's assistant in the ER who ordered a doppler Ultrasound of my leg. The technician who did the scan was very good and told me everything looked good. I was discharged. I have no problem with how the ER visit went. However, I have never received any of the official results (NOT JUST THE TECHNICIAN'S INTERPRETATION) of the test. I have called repeatedly requesting the info be sent to me or my PCP, and still no results. The results are NOT posted on my health portal. Yet I have received the bill! Why can you send my the bill and not the results? The results of the test are what I NEED for my health. If you never provide them to me then you are NOT DOING YOUR JOB!!! The lack of timeliness in reporting test results is UNSAFE. I am sorry to post this publicly; but after 3 calls the issue is still not resolved. This is poor medical practice.
I would like to know the results of my test interpreted by a physician. I think you need to review your system processes that would allow 7 weeks to go by without a patient or her physician knowing if a blood clot is in her leg.

Sincerely,

Sophia Sarkos MD

I had a visit 5 mos ago to their er and swore id never go back. I have given a 1 star. Nose I'm chafing out to 5 BUT If at all don't use their er.... I had a horrible experience in their er
But that's the past. I'm giving the hospital a five star rating now because i was directly admitted by my dr and avoided the ER. This was the first time i was actually a patient in the hospital for 5 days. They were thorough, caring and knew exactly how to take care of my disease. Another local hospital in srq. Didnt and i was there 5 times last year and 2 times this year. My dr said its time for a change go to smh no more small hospital for you. I have a superbug called cdiff... you can die from it in literally days. Smh took great care of me made sure i was able to hold food down and be normal when i left. The nurses were great caring people. They came when i rang the bell...not an hour later. It's a wonderful hospital. I left feeling like finally something was accomplished. This hospital cares! Really. They told me they were going too get to the bottom of my disease and take care of it as much as they could. They did just that!.....i hope i dont have too go back but its my hospital of choice n This visit has changed my mind. I'll never go to their er though...but thank you smh for giving me hope on curing my disease and not just sending me home. You got the drs who knew how to deal with my disease. Not just giving me fluids n sending me home. You gave me hope. I was on the 9th floor west overlooking the entrance of hospital. Thank you sooo much to the nurses and drs who cared for me. All the nurses day n night shifts were wonderful to me! As well as the hospitalists. Thank you all!!! Never thought id change from 1 star to 5 !

Needing unexpected hip surgery was frightening and unsettling. I was brought to SSM and was immediately relieved. The care was beyond excellent. Caring and professional nurses, aids and all staff were wonderful. My surgical experience was great and follow up as well was exceptional HOWEVER I have to add, the food service and quality is the worst WORST you can imagine. Fake processed manufactured food , honestly not acceptable. It s a shame you should be able to get wholesome nutrition when I ll or recovering, not over processed I ll prepared poor quality fake food.

Incompetent doctors at North Port hospital sent my sister home during an emergency saying she only had a fever. We knew her condition wasn t only due to fever. She had lost a lot of blood from an abnormal menstrual cycle throughout the week. She was severly weak. We took her to Sarasota memorial hospital in Sarasota. Turns out her hemoglobin was severely low due to blood loss and need an emergency blood transfusion or she would have died.

Now the second time we went for the same problem they told she needs to take more potassium. We told the hospital last time this happened she need a blood transfusion. They told us they couldn t say what s wrong with her and simply to take more vitamins. Incompetent doctors at north port. Please don t put your family s lives in the hands of these fools!!! Go to Sarasota it s a further drive but you d waste precious time going to this hospital!!!

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. The staff are lazy and don't care. The wait is so long at any given time of the day. And don't get me started on the dollar amount of the bills for the horrible care this place gives.

Terrible experience in the emergency room in Novem...

Terrible experience in the emergency room in November 2016 I had thrown my back out to where I could not walk so I went to the emergency room for help the room was filthy the sheets had a good amount of stains on them and I do not feel that I was treated with any respect by the staff and now I am being over billed my emergency room co pay with my insurance is $300 and they are telling me I owe them $821.32 after my insurance has made a payment to them ? I called to complain and they said I was out of network for my insurance (I live in Venice, FL?) and there is nothing they can do but give me a 10 month payment plan for money that I do not feel that I owe them don't go here they will rip you off they will charge you whatever they want to take from you even after they are paid by your insurance I know I will never go there again and I would advise anyone in need of medical care to go elsewhere as well unless you want to receive over priced poor service like I did
