Hostess was disorganized and rude. Constently rolling her eyes and sighing to guests. We had a reservation and still had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The food was average at best, nothing really stood out. The server Daniel was great and knowledgable.

Staff was nice but that s about all it had going for it. The sushi itself was terrible, made up primarily of a crab pre-mix and no fresh fish or veggies were visible. There s plenty of other places to go other than here.

We were looking for sushi close to our hotel (Alohaloni). Sensei came up on Google. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the restaurant was. Our experience only got better; we were seated quickly and had a wonderful server, Jill, who guided us through the menu. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Waikiki.

This place serves excellent sashimi. I had salmon and yellow tail both of which were delectable. The maki was good, although the menu didn't have a lot of options sans crab. The service and live music met the standard. On weekends between 10:00 pm and 1:00 am most items on the menu are 50% off and as a result the place was packed. I would go to this place again without any hesitation.

Sansei is my favorite sushi restaurant in the world. It's always a great dining experience. Freshest local fish & unique signature preparations are a winning combination. They also have a half-price happy hour that people stand in line for. Highly recommended!

The staff were attentive, courteous and provided quick service. The food was just okay; we got the dynamite shrimp which has more flavour than the typical chain restaurant version of this dish. The shrimp were big (which you seem to find everywhere here in Oahu). The rolls we had were fairly average quality, we avoided ones with crab because of the reviews. An average experience overall.

The place was packed but I found disappointment in both the poki and sushi roll I got. However, my wife got the beef tenderloin with udon noodles and that dish was amazing. Melt in your mouth steak and wonderful flavor in the sauce with noodles cooked perfect. 3 stars because I was disappointed but my wife was pretty happy.

Shared 5 different plates of sushi with my family. All were wonderful and fresh. I don't recommend the BLT roll however. It should also be noted that this place and the stake house are in the same building.

The food was delicious ND the service was great. But the place was very cold in there. The air conditioner was on too high. But the waitress was very friendly and accommodating, she lent my friend and I both shalls.

i just ordered through a room-service vendor "waikikiroom***yadada" through Sansei Sushi. I don't often write reviews, but this place delivered some outstanding quality food. It's clear they take pride in their sushi.

They even took the time to perfectly arrange the sushi parallel in the damn styrofoam. THEN, they labelled the the lid to show me what was where (with over 5 types of rolls)

The quality of the fish was outstanding. My only complaint was the "seared" tuna was cooked to a solid grey. But the rolls and sushi were so good i didn't even care.

I'm certainly going to make sure to visit the restaurant if they put that much time into their delivery food.

Food: The food here is absolutely incredible. We really wanted some authentic Thai food and this place hits it out of the park. If you like spicy food, this place knows spicy food. We god medium and I was drinking water all night long (in a good way). They also have a fairly stocked bar there which helps.

Ambiance: The ambiance isn't all that great but thats what makes this place great. You can go there after a long day and not have to worry about changing into dinner clothes or anything.

Service: The service here is incredibly fast. The servers are nice and extremely quick. They tend to charge you the tip automatically on the bill which makes it easier.

Would I go back: Absolutely

There are many sushi places in Honolulu, but few can give you anything but rice-heavy American rolls stuffed with krab, HFCS, and mayo. Sansei is different: Sit at the sushi bar. Ask them to surprise you. Enjoy the ride.

Prices are very reasonable.

Saturday nights 10pm-1am Happy hour. Half price of entire menu plus live music. I took one star off because many times their live music is too laud and annoying. You cannot even hear what you say. If we need that much laud music we can go to clup. It could be better it was more enjoyable and quality music.

Honestly I had high expectations with this place but unfortunately I didn't like the food, it was too basic, the flavor isn't good enough, I have to say that I visited Honolulu for a week and the only one place that I cannot say that I liked it is this one. I had sushi and some appetizers, sorry.

It's good to see a restaurant keep up their quality.

I reccomend trying the Ahi Tataki, the BLT Roll, Takah Sushi Roll, and the greatest of all, the Panko Crusted Ahi Roll. We get 2 orders of the panko ahi roll each time we ate there.

Not all was perfect. The Sea Scallops are boring, and I'm not a fan of how they do the Agedashi Tofu. I think that's because I make it at home and have perfected it.

This year we stayed in town for 12 days and it was so good, we ate there 6 times. Better than ever.

the Waikiki sansei got worse foods and worst service i have ever had . the food was bad and the waiters are rude and never know how to serve the customers! the only thing they care about is tips.. they are rude, unprofessional and weird attitude. i have no idea why restaurant dont train waiters but just let them provide worst serve??? never ever want to go there again. Also will let my friends, coworkers, and people who checking on my social medials know that!!

This restaurant is located inside the Marriott and is somewhat difficult to find from the street. You need to go up a level from the courtyard to find.

We went here based on a recommendation from our hotel for "sushi" and found it laking. We tried several dishes of sushi and cooked food and they were pretty mediocre. They service was also quite slow and dishes were not cleaned from our table. It took us 20-30 mins to get our first drinks and get an order in. They said to order as needed since things come out fast, but they did not. Also when walking in there was a "fishy" smell which I think is never a good sign for a sushi or seafood place. Having eaten at other similar places like Roy's and Nobu in Waikiki which are great, I would give this place a miss, as its nearly as expensive, but far from the same quality.

I had the chow fun noodles and local vegetables absolutely delicious. Husband had the "Sansei" Suchi wrap and he is still talking about how tasty it was and he also tried the smoked salmon roll.
Highly recommended, Bon appetite!

Overall good menu with yummy rolls. The spider roll was the best one we tried, followed by the lakimaki(?) roll. The edamame dish is served cold - I am use to this snack being served warm and prefer them warm. Drinks are excellent! Bartender was great and hosts were good. Location is easy to find with lots of signs leading you right to it.

Excellent sushi. The map is several pages long, yet all the ones we tried (and we came twice in 4 days) were delicious. Remember to book to be sure not to wait too long, there are people from 18h!

The food was good. We had the Crispy Fried Calamari, the Sansei Special Roll, and the Sansei s Mango Crab Salad Handroll. My son had the Kalbi Steak Strips from the kids menu. The service was great (Katie was friendly and helpful). Would definitely try the Mixed Tempura next time (saw a few people order this and it looked awesome).

Sansei is our go to sushi restaurant. Gotta get there early for their early bird special on Sundays for 50% off food items. Try the shiso martini and the panko crusted ahi sashimi. So ono!

I loved their creative roles and appetizers, a near-perfect blend of taste and originality. Also, I noted unusually attentive service. Do take a seat outside with a "partial" ocean view; those are great at sunset.

Also, don't avoid them because they are at Marriott Waikiki - they are most definitely not "a hotel restaurant"

Update: just went here again, still as great as above.

Sansei has average sushi relative to other places on Oahu. Their service is atrocious. Marriott should be ashamed to have them in their hotel. I have eaten at Sansei many times because they have a big discount for locals on certain slow nights and one thing that is consistant is that they have poor service plus rude employees and management. I actually had a manager accuse my mom and I of lying! We ordered some hamachi (yellow tail tuna) along with other sushi but we never got the hamachi. When the server came back with our bill (he never came by to check how everything was or to see if we wanted dessert) we told him that we did not receive the hamachi we ordered but it was on the bill. The server went and got the manager. The manager accused us of eating the hamachi and lying about it. After some arguing, the manager brought us out the hamachi that we ordered. We never received an apology from anyone.

Straightforward yummy sushi! They bring the dishes out as they make them. Prices are reasonable considering it's location across from the ocean. We tried the Sansei Special roll and it was delicious! Wish there were larger portions though

They have the very best cocktails I have ever had. I highly recommend hitting happy hour right at 5:30 so you can get the discount on their sushi rolls (which were so delicious). This was my favorite stop in Honolulu as far as food and drink go.

Surprisingly good. Everything was fresh. The tuna and hamachi were excellent. Salmon was a bit bland. It was cut thick which is normal in the US, but unfortunately looses taste and texture because of it. Fortunately it wasn't too thick like some places of lower quality do. Service was great, my sushi chef was very friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was nice. Prices were a little high, but being a tourist area, they were about normal.
