Beautiful and very well arranged park! Bus tour helps to get a quick overview. And panda is adorable.

I'm from St. Louis and love our zoo. We wondered if it would be worth visiting the San Diego Zoo during vacation, and it was. I would say it's 2x the exhibits and animals as the St. Louis Zoo (of course the St. Louis Zoo is also free, and the San Diego Zoo is priced similar to a theme park). This year we saw construction for another large expansion. Great exhibits; especially birds. Can't beat the weather. Well worth it.
The entrance fee is steep, but the experience is worth it. The zoo is huge and offers plenty of fun.
They are doing well in organizing the visitors. However, they could ve done better in guiding ppl at the zoo coz I spent literally two hours searching for specific animals. Overall, it isn t a bad place.
Great Zoo to visit. Lushes landscape throughout, bus tours to get around the Zoo with ease. Plenty of animal exhibits to see. Free parking. Affordable eateries. Decorated for the holidays.
A premier zoo with excellent programs for endangered species preservation and recovery. As great as the zoological aspects are, the botanical samples and designs are even greater at this Park. Well worth the visit and return visits are always enjoyable. Don't run through this Park, enjoy it.
The zoo is great. Not a lot of people so you can easily enjoy and view the animals. Price is not bad either. My kids really enjoyed.
Gone my entire life, definitely a great place to go if you are visiting San Diego.
Fun for all ages! Even a great workout should you brave to walk the entire zoo in one day
Fun, but definitely go when it's not too hot outside
THE WORLD S MOST FANTASTIC ZOO! If you like animals and zoos, this one is must-see! Just go! (sorry for yelling up there )
As a native of San Diego, I sometimes forget what a treasure we have in our zoo. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And the animals are so beautiful.
This is a great zoo, but it's expensive. The entrance fee and food costs will hit you in the wallet. Having said that, it's a great zoo, in fact, one of the best I've seen. My boys loved it. The skytram is pretty cool, it's really high. I'm curious about the safari park but didnt make it on this visit.
We were in San Diego a few days ago and had a free day so we decided to spend it at the zoo. We started it with a tour on the double decker bus and it was an awesome time to get an overview of everything as we had never visited before. We then spent the rest of the afternoon walking the trails and seeing all the animals. You will definitely get all your steps in plus some as this zoo is giant so wear comfortable shoes! All of the exhibits were awesome and you could clearly see all of the animals. The only bummer is there isn t an aquarium and being an Omaha native I m used to seeing some more aquatic life at the zoo, but this zoo was still amazing. We got to see pandas, monkeys, elephants, etc and they were all pretty active. We got lost on the trails but there are docents everywhere to help you find your way. Overall I highly recommend this zoo to anyone who has a free day in the area!
Been many times and can never get enough! The are always updating and improving exhibits. DO NOT MISS ANY OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THIS FABULOUS ZOO. One of the few TOP ZOIS in the world. They set the example for all others. I have an annual pass so I can go as often as I like all year!
I recommend this zoo 100%! The animals are beautiful and the place looks awesome. I say bring some comfortable shoes though since you'll be doing a lot of walking.
When I was here they had some fun bubble show for the kids which my son loved. The food is a bit pricey but that's what we already expected.
This is by far the best zoo I have been to In the last 25 years. The exhibits are great ~ as you walk through out the zoo, you become a part of it all.
I must see for anybody visiting Southern California.
Make sure you have save the whole day for this! It's amazing. And bring sunscreen
It was neat but very expensive. Lots of very steep hills. The bus tour was the best. They skyline thing was fun and a must do part. Food was not good, very expensive. Polar bear seemed to be going insane, digging for hours (not sure if it was because it was warm). The hippos were awesome.
Loved the variety. Pretty setup and perfect for strollers. Today Thursday was not busy at all so we got great service by restaurants and no wait for areas and amenities. Tram was closed and there's renovations to kids areas
what a zoo what a venue holy moly mackerel what a great zoo great zoo really a good zoo, not so sure about the political leanings of the lyft drivers that take to to the zoo but by golly when you get to the zoo it's a great zoo the very best
Great place. Big Areals for the animals a lot of different animals and atmospheres. The prices seem high but this is a privat zoo and 20% directly go to a god cause for animals. Also the buy a cup and get unlimited free refills that day is amazing. Or the future days soda refills are 1.09 $.
One of America's premier zoos. It has animals from all over the world in spacious, well maintained, and clean environments. There are a lot of knowledgeable and passionate staff that provide education about the animals. Definitely worth a visit to the zoo if you are in the San Diego area.
Had a great day at the zoo! Learned so much today! Loved the "green toys" they had and how they turn milk jugs into toys! Also received many tips to reduce our carbon print and save water along with other tips. Their gift shops had a good variety of items. The bus tour and our driver were great! Got a lot of facts and loved our family picture. We got to see animals we don't get to see often like the cheetahs, grizzly bears, lions, and many more. Next time hopefully we get a chance to ride the skysafari it looks fun. Their 4D theaters also sound nice. Would definitely come back again! If you take the tour bus try when it's not too crowded, perhaps past mid day and/or afternoons.
Best zoo I have ever been too. It took the whole day to go through from open to close. Look forward to going back some day.
Amazing zoo - a lot of animals to see, volunteers are always very helpful and knowledgeable. I also like food there, compared to other places like Sea World etc. Go to this zoo at least once a month and learn things.
P.S bug exhibit and humming bird aviary are my favorites
One of the best zoos ever. Bring your own food though unless you want to pay NFL stadium prices.
The best zoo I have been to in my life. The zoo is enormous and the animals are so fascinating to see up close. I am truly impressed with everything. Favorite exhibit was the jaguars.
Must visit in SD! Easy to navigate and so many animals to see. Take the bus tour early in the morning, you are able to cover a lot of animals this way
About half the size of the Bronx Zoo, it's a wonderful experience with many beautiful and rare animal species. The setup is very animal oriented which I was happy to see, much like the famous Bronx zoo. Not to be.missed!
Great place to take the family loved it. Only thing to crowded
Complete with fake rocks.
Even though the average age of our family exceeds that of most visitors by about 12 years we still love this place like it were a second home. I can only dream of a 1st where pandas are also present.
Christmas at the zoo is a different place to go to at night. It was nice seeing the lights at the zoo. Most times you leave the zoo before it gets dark. Having Christmas lights at the zoo is nice. The show's they have at night are fun to see. Most animals are hard to see at night. But it is fun to walk around and see what you can.
If you have kids, then you can't miss out on this important place. But be prepared to hike, so put your running shoes on
The food and attractiins are always amazing, but it can be crowed depending on when you go. I would recomed getting their annual passes
My family and I truly love going to the zoo, they have so much actives for everyone to enjoy and the skysafari is just awesome.
If you live locally get a year pass because it's a great place to walk and see the animals. If you get the Keepers pass you can climb on a guided tour bus and relax. It also gets you into the Safari park with parking. Another great walking park.
Really great, very organized and the animals are really exotic and it generally seems like they really care about the species and do research and send vets around the world with programs they do. Only negative is that it's relatively easy to get lost if you aren't glued to the map/app
I have a membership so I'm here for a couple hours at a time whenever I get the chance. My son loves the flamingos so we always stop by to see them. The children's zoo is being completely renovated so it is currently closed. The newish Africa Rocks area is great though I do wish there were more trees for shade in that area.
The hype of the zoo lived up to its reputation. Obviously kid friendly but fun to walk around no matter what your age. So much to see that we could have spent our whole vacation walking around... Make sure you see the baby hippo. The volunteers were exceptionally helpful as well, one acted as our personal tour guide for a bit and you could tell how much he loved volunteering.
It was good but could have been better.it seemed to take a lot of walking not slot of choices to get around the bus we couldn't see a lot of animals. It was 675 dollars for a private tour. So we enjoyed it but didn't get our money's worth.
Worth it! Not many zoos in the world have done so much good for saving and raising animals. The grounds are very large but I highly recommend the gondola ride over the whole grounds! What a view! Don t waste time in some massive line for something because there is so much to see - just keep walking and take it all in. FYI, the food selections are getting better but still need help with healthy choices.
Fun place to visit and explore, free for military. Alot to see and do.
Always an amazing place for a walk and to see ani.als
One of the world's best zoos. Be prepared to walk a lot, and up and down hills, the zoo is built on a valley so you'll start at the top and go down just to have to come back up again. Great animals and fantastic enclosures. A must do in San Diego.
Great place to spend the day in San Diego, plenty of great animals to see.
A yearly trip I always take with my daughters. Never disappoints. The closing time in the summer is 9pm! You get to see all the nocturnal animals come out from the dens in their habitats.
Be ready to walk at least 3 miles. 3 most wonderful miles. There are so many Animals that are being helped. We were fortunate enough to see Babby hippo with his Mother. Elephants bath time! Many rest and Food stop areas. Gift Shops. For us it was confusing to find certain exhibitions and had to circle around a bit.
The Zoo and it's employees are great. It was the cleanest and well maintained Zoo I have ever visited. The down side was all the people and how rude they were. I know the zoo has no control over that. So I give this advice to anyone who plans to visit the San Diego Zoo call ahead to find out what days have lower number of visitors.
Had a great day at the zoo. Perfect weather and many animals to see.
I really loved San Diego Zoo, because I had my face paint and I got a Red Panda toy. And I give it a 5!
First time coming to the Zoo and I love it, the Zoo is said to have over 700,000 different types of plant's for the different types of animals and the Zoo is over 100 acres so better get your walking shoes. Btw I love it so much I will be back later this year.
A nice, clean zoo with cool exhibits. It was empty when we went (in December). The price was expensive ($50 USD or $70 CDN), especially compared to our zoo in Toronto which is much cheaper.
It was fun, and I'm glad I went, but it's a one time visit for me
It's a nice Zoo, be sure to check it out. Check out the panda's before they go back to China, why you ask its because of the fat Con Man Trump. The fat out of shape pig con man is to blame. Make America great again Impeach Trump and lock him up. Trump must be caged and put on display at the zoo. He could replace the panda's, I'm sure the panda's are more popular but he must be in a cage for life. Make America great again Impeach Trump and lock him up in a cage.
Great experience for the kids. I love the vegetation. One of my favorites is the rainforest walk. It's especially good when the tigers and lions are active.
Great animal exhibits and talks. Free hop on hop off bus around the zoo included in ticket price as well as a gondola ride. Justine the beaver was the highlight!
Great zoo to go with all age groups.
It's a big zoo. So plan to spend the whole day if you're planning to cover most of the areas. Taking bus will allow more coverage
Easily the best zoo I have ever been to. Wonderful layout, beautiful landscape, lively animals. I highly recommend!!!
Good place but too many buses operating within the zoo which hinders peaceful walk within the zoo. I found parking very difficult considering the number of people visiting the place. Don't know what happens to the Rhino on 30th Dec 2018
Beautiful and very active animals. Well maintained and family friendly.
You must take a bus trip. Second floor you have to wait for a bit but the view around is very cool.
Compared to DC zoo you see alot more here and close up. I do encourage you to do the guided tour on the bus and sit on the right side for a better view of the animals. It's great if you are traveling with kids
SAN DIEGO ZOO is well know for its great contribution to animal conservation to all its donations. And also It is beautiful and a must to visit while in SD.
This is the largest zoo I have ever visited. Zoo lovers will find a variety of animals (lion, tiger, elephants, rhinoceros, gorillas, orangutans, polar bear) and birds. The guided bus tour and the cable cars are very useful in covering a large part of the zoo. Free parking is available.
This our first time coming here. There's a lot of attractions and the kids enjoyed it. They have a double decker bus that goes around the whole zoo. The tour takes about 30 mins. They also have an aerial tram which i think was cool too. A lot of snack back (with booze) throughout the zoo. Beautiful nature while strolling. It took us about 3 hours to tour the whole place.
Sandiego zoo was too good compared to the safari. I went on a sunny day, and so found few animals tired and sleeping under a shelter. Though they were not too active it was good to see them. Kola was too cute. Cheetah run was ok ok. May be too much hype was created. Tiger park was too good we saw a tiger walking near us. That was a shocking surprise.
Great exhibit, nice planned routes and staff is very helpful
Beautiful. Honestly the landscape and vegetation is what made this zoo better than other. All the animals looked clean and taken care of. And the place was clean. It was just beautiful and my child had a blast. In addition the staff was really nice, besides Jessica in the warthog area...she was rude. Will be making the trip back, soon.
Visiting from the East coast, and having a wonderful time! The food is wonderful, and the experience is fantastic. Very clean park. Though I was a bit sad they made our friend pay to come in and she is a veteran. Otherwise great time!
No wonder this zoo is ranked #1 globally. simply spectacular!
One of the best zoos in the world. The park layout is really nice and skyline is great.
We loved it! Take a whole day to enjoy the entire park. Well worth it!!
Haven't been to the zoo in forever and I can't believe how beautiful it was. I truly believe the animals are well cared for. I would go back as many times as I possibly could
Great place. July although was bit to hot and sticky to fully enjoy. Alot of the animals were off hiding in shade. Try going in cooler temps
We had a good time! Pandas! They had pandas. They were active and easy to view and enjoy. It was good to see most of the animals in their respective exhibits. Not like Jurassic Park where Dr. Malcom had to ask if they indeed had dinosaurs....in their dinosaur park.
I love the zoo!! So much to do, so much to see! Rawrrrrr
Would better to have more Exit signals. Is a bit complex to get out.
We couldn't see the animals, I thing we went at they sleeping time because just a few of them were outside. But was a nice experience we walk a lot and we can't see all the place its really big but i think it's not the same if you take the tour in the bus. They need family bike like Miami ZOO, that will be really funny.
This so is huge and has so much to offer. The animals are really active and are really fun to watch. The fact that they do so much for animal and plant preservation is really cool.
