Nice clean state park, beach...bathrooms and showers, life guards...little to no waves and typically low tide you can walk out a long ways from shore, great for littles... CT license plates cars get in for free! A Snack shack for lunch or bring your own...plenty of beach and some walking trails
I shot an engagement session here last week and loved the raw, natural beauty of the park!
Good campground. See pictures of feeding young wild turkeys.
Beautifull place great place to relax and even do camping
Very nice local beach and park. Water is clean as there is good flow. I like the park best in the off season.
Best place to go to the ocean east of New Haven in Connecticut.
Got rinsing stations and changing rooms. Also a mini store. Camping grounds and plenty of parking.
So good everyone staying 6 feet away quiet and clean beautiful day
Nice Beach obstructed by railroad tracks. Several underpasses allows access to the other side of the tracks.
Beautiful beach and dogs are welcome for hiking during off-season and during peak season parking isn't too expensive either
Ever thing was good except for the bathrooms. They were absolutely nasty. I have never seen nasty bathrooms like that before. But like i said the beach was very nice.
I really like that place, the sand is soft and white, the water clear and peaceful, but I do not like the conditions of the bathrooms they were realy nasty and a lot of garbage around the garbage can outside, other than that the beach is excelent to enjoy with kids and family
Great state park, camping grounds are very well maintained
My famously goes there more then once every year, always have a great time, has camping areas, log cabins, hiking and biking trails, the beach area gets decent sized waves not too severe, there is kid zone where it is much shallower where u can catch crabs and see decent sized fish if ur lucky but mainly tiny fish, all in all a great beach and camping spot
I could not believe how clean this place was. The beach, the park, the Pagoda and restrooms were impeccable. I love the tunnel leading to the park and beachfront the Pagoda.

Absolutely beautiful day at the beach. Beautiful forest paths & train bridge gave way to a pure white sand beach with amazing views. My grandson's first beach experience... won't be his last.
It was really fun. People were socially distanced pretty well.
The cabins are very nice, comfortably sleeps 6 at both Rocky Neck and Hammonasset State Park that come with nice fire pits. You can have one extra tent. The only issue was the bathrooms were a distance away away so sometimes in a hurry you might need to jump on the bike or drive the short driving distance to do the dishes or use the bathrooms. At Rocky Neck I did notice that some tent camping sights have a common parking area vs. being able to pull directly up to your sight. Some people may like that for various reasons but I would not. If you don't mind your camping neighbors car respectfully on their site as is yours than you should inquire on parking at certain parts of the tents only sites. Rocky Neck sites seem to all have fire pits but is much smaller than Hammonasset Camping and beachs (bring a fire pit or rent one from the store). Hammonasset is more family oriented with a camp store, semi private camping beach, volley ball net, decent amphitheater that sells popcorn, ice cream truck that also delivers fire wood and much better fishing and crabbing. Both Parks have nature centers but Rocky Neck is in need of serious updating. Hammonassets Meigs Point was beautifully remodeled 2014. Both have bike trails; Hammonassetts are groomed while Rocky Necks are still true bike trails. Both Parks are beautiful. The pros of Rocky Neck over Hammonassett is the town of Niantic seems to have more foot traffic and more night life. Also, if you wanted to go to sound view Beach for the day its only 5 minutes away. Sound view is a "party beach with a college kids and bikers beach partiers atmosphere often with live music. The sound view town also offers store front shopping and a nice merry go round. Rocky Neck is more for the young adults and Hammonasset is more family oriented but little to do outside the park.
Great beach. Perfect for a date or family outing. They have good parking and a rinsing station to clean the sand off your feet.
Parking is very expensive for people out of state, it was $22 for us. Otherwise great place.
Beautiful beach! Make sure you're willing to pay if you do not have a CT license plate. I forgot to flash the military ID but I have been told that they also get in free.
It was very nice and not too crowded, it was a cooler day but people were still swimming. No dogs on the beach until after Oct 1st according to the sign.
This place is really beautiful, lots of nice people around so far, none of our things gotten stolen besides a raccoon lol but it's nice
I love this place, the beach is lovely, the sea is clean and beautiful. The property offers a food court or take advantage of it for a nice picnic in designated areas already well equipped with BBQ grill.
Beautiful beaches, beautiful park. A lovely place to take a long walk!
Worked there for years as a kid it's got it all you would want in a state park. Swimming camping animals trails nature beautiful s
Historical pavilion
Really nice beach! Great picnic areas. Cool pavilion built in the 1930's with timbers from parks around the state.
We only camped there a couple of nights. The campground was quiet and pleasant. We prefer more private sites, but the sites around the edge of the loops are quite pleasant and we were lucky enough to get one. The sites seemed quite large as well. The park is small but there is a wonderful wildlife area on the bridge on the way to the beach. There are osprey, egrets, swallows, crabs and many other birds and water species for fun viewing.
Nice state park, large, clean beach, lots of space with grills and picnic tables. Beautiful scenery away from the beach.
Sand is so soft there's rocks to jump off into the water when the tide is high. Enough tables for cook outs.
Good spot to go camping or a day trip to the beach bring a net and go small catch and release crabing as the name says its rocky so I bring water shoes but if your richious you can just go in
Built over 70 years ago. It's peaceful and quiet...
Nice grounds. Restrooms need cleaning and ventilation badly!
It's an ok beach sometimes dirty but not bad if it's close to you
Free for in-state parking, changing rooms, cool train love next to the beach. Very rocky (duh) under the water, couldn't find any shift places to stand anywhere in the water, maybe it was a bad spot. Great nature viewing!
Great place for photos and for a day at the beach or hiking. Beautiful views everywhere.
Not as clean as I like but had a nice day, rangers not so friendly but park and trails are pretty.
Nice Place Unfortunately too much money to go there $22.00
Bathrooms are absolutely vile even for a state park.
Pretty poor experience. Have to pay 22 dollars to just park for the beach, then no dogs allowed. Not even that nice of a beach
All around great for all ages. Beach. Crab fishing. Fishing. Rock walk. Pavilion. Trails. Concessions.
Beautiful views, spacious, clean. It has a grilling area, bathroom, showers and a food conseccion.
Clean and easy to get to . The beach is decent in size and occasionally you can catch the train wizzing by since it's right next to the tracks . The water is better then most beaches in the area with low tides coming in . They have bathrooms there and a good stand that's available in warmer months .
Love this beach great sand and water with nice places to walk and scenery to enjoy!!
Serves the purpose of swimming in salt water. But don't forget the sun screen!
This is our 7th year coming love this place we camp out at least 2 times a year here , great for kids and the family
Fantastic place to go with Little kids, the sand bar goes out a ways so the kids can feel like they are far I to the ocean.
Amazing place to visit. Lots to explore clean and beautiful.
This is my favorite beach in CT. It's also fun to go biking around on the trails and going to the nature center.
Beach has bathrooms.baby changing station.consession stand.beautiful views of the water and surrounding areas.a picnic area with grills.can fish off the pier.they have lifeguards.no flotation devices allowed.
We love tent camping here. Sites range from heavily wood to open fields but you are never on top of your neighbor like you are at a private campground. It's a great place for the kids, bikes and an evening fire.
We had an amazing camping trip!! We'll be back again for sure!!
Very nice park. Small and closes often during busiest hours and nicest days.
