I really like that place, the sand is soft and white, the water clear and peaceful, but I do not like the conditions of the bathrooms they were realy nasty and a lot of garbage around the garbage can outside, other than that the beach is excelent to enjoy with kids and family

My famously goes there more then once every year, always have a great time, has camping areas, log cabins, hiking and biking trails, the beach area gets decent sized waves not too severe, there is kid zone where it is much shallower where u can catch crabs and see decent sized fish if ur lucky but mainly tiny fish, all in all a great beach and camping spot

I could not believe how clean this place was. The beach, the park, the Pagoda and restrooms were impeccable. I love the tunnel leading to the park and beachfront the Pagoda.

Absolutely beautiful day at the beach. Beautiful forest paths & train bridge gave way to a pure white sand beach with amazing views. My grandson's first beach experience... won't be his last.

The cabins are very nice, comfortably sleeps 6 at both Rocky Neck and Hammonasset State Park that come with nice fire pits. You can have one extra tent. The only issue was the bathrooms were a distance away away so sometimes in a hurry you might need to jump on the bike or drive the short driving distance to do the dishes or use the bathrooms. At Rocky Neck I did notice that some tent camping sights have a common parking area vs. being able to pull directly up to your sight. Some people may like that for various reasons but I would not. If you don't mind your camping neighbors car respectfully on their site as is yours than you should inquire on parking at certain parts of the tents only sites. Rocky Neck sites seem to all have fire pits but is much smaller than Hammonasset Camping and beachs (bring a fire pit or rent one from the store). Hammonasset is more family oriented with a camp store, semi private camping beach, volley ball net, decent amphitheater that sells popcorn, ice cream truck that also delivers fire wood and much better fishing and crabbing. Both Parks have nature centers but Rocky Neck is in need of serious updating. Hammonassets Meigs Point was beautifully remodeled 2014. Both have bike trails; Hammonassetts are groomed while Rocky Necks are still true bike trails. Both Parks are beautiful. The pros of Rocky Neck over Hammonassett is the town of Niantic seems to have more foot traffic and more night life. Also, if you wanted to go to sound view Beach for the day its only 5 minutes away. Sound view is a "party beach with a college kids and bikers beach partiers atmosphere often with live music. The sound view town also offers store front shopping and a nice merry go round. Rocky Neck is more for the young adults and Hammonasset is more family oriented but little to do outside the park.

I love this place, the beach is lovely, the sea is clean and beautiful. The property offers a food court or take advantage of it for a nice picnic in designated areas already well equipped with BBQ grill.

We only camped there a couple of nights. The campground was quiet and pleasant. We prefer more private sites, but the sites around the edge of the loops are quite pleasant and we were lucky enough to get one. The sites seemed quite large as well. The park is small but there is a wonderful wildlife area on the bridge on the way to the beach. There are osprey, egrets, swallows, crabs and many other birds and water species for fun viewing.

Free for in-state parking, changing rooms, cool train love next to the beach. Very rocky (duh) under the water, couldn't find any shift places to stand anywhere in the water, maybe it was a bad spot. Great nature viewing!

Clean and easy to get to . The beach is decent in size and occasionally you can catch the train wizzing by since it's right next to the tracks . The water is better then most beaches in the area with low tides coming in . They have bathrooms there and a good stand that's available in warmer months .

We love tent camping here. Sites range from heavily wood to open fields but you are never on top of your neighbor like you are at a private campground. It's a great place for the kids, bikes and an evening fire.
