Staff is rude, security is redundant, connecting flights are literally impossible. Worst airport EVER. Anyone working there should be ashamed. Nearly missed my connecting flight because I had to go through security again. How humiliating and useless.

Worst airport in the United States. Landed at gate 14. Connected through gate 1. Had to go back through security and no tsa precheck. Will avoid ever flying to and or through here again. 40 minute line. Barely made connecting flight.

The airport is nice. Only recently I have had a negative experience with one of the security check girls, she was very mean and I did not even do anything to provoke her. If she hates people so much maybe she should not work at a job that requires dealing with people.

A small but nice airport. My experience going in and out of this airport was smooth and stress free.

Small food court with big windows to watch the planes is a plus. There's also some fun shops here too.

On my thicket there is no COMMUTER Terminal, but Lindberg Field, Terminal R.
I was under an impression that the information should be as easy to read and find
as possible. I found it not to be the case.
On the website You'll also not find proper info.
The answering service press, press and press is good for nothing!
Directions to the airport gives me my GPS.
So it is, to say the least, very hard for a person from out-of-town to find useable
information and the terminal R......

Interesting airport with only one runway! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices were actually cheaper than at the Sheraton Harbor Island. TSA was less than 5 minutes on a Sunday morning. Southwest staff was on the job and ready to go. The only complaint is that they still have people utilizing the hotel courtesy shuttles go up and over the main road, then back down and cross the same road.

It is our first time flying from San diego airport and I was impressed. The airport was clean. Their staff are accommodating. The gates are organized. Overall, it was a good experience.

I travel often, and this is my main airport. There are many dining options, and there is MORE than enough seating at gates, giving everyone plenty of personal space. Most gate seating has plugs, which makes it easy to charge any device on the go. Very clean restrooms, and overall just a clean airport. Amazing staff, and I couldn't have asked for a better hub airport in Southern California. Will definitely recommend to frequent travellers.

This is one of the more awful airports. It has two separate terminals with three separate security checkpoints. (Terminal 1 is split into two?)

Triple check your gate, because you run the risk of going through security twice after going to the terminal labeled with your airline, only to find out your flight is not even in the same terminal. This happens to at least a few people on every single flight I've taken from SAN

As an aside
If we're being real here, the airports downtown location ruins the city with flights arriving directly over downtown. The noise is inescapable from 6am-11pm, and the surrounding real estate is compromised. Imagine if they moved the airport to Miramar; all of the real estate, air quality problems, and noise pollution it would alleviate. Not to mention they could completely rework the layout to something vaguely resembling an intuitive design.

This is obviously your only option when flying to or from SAN, but beware of the awful, awful layout.

I have a connecting flight here. I've already gone through security and bought my 4 dollar bottle of water after at my home airport. So I get off my plane here and because they're set up is ridiculous, I'm forced to go through security again downstairs and throw away my water. It's absurd. I've never had such an inconvenience with an airport.

This place is a dumpster fire. If you have a layover here you ll have to exit the terminal and go through security again in a different terminal, which will not be obvious. I was also stopped for a random check going through security to my connecting flight, which made it even more annoying. TSA then proceeded to swipe my phone for something, which seems important (?). I get to the terminal and it s like a cattle chute. No where to sit and eat your food (the one perk here is The Counter, great burgers), just tables where you stand and eat. If you can t stand or have trouble standing and don t have a wheelchair, I guess you re eating in your lap. My flight was delayed 45 minutes and changed gates 3 TIMES. Can t wait to see where my bags end up. Making sure to avoid this stop in the future...

Turns out I wasn t done. One restroom in each terminal, 5 sinks, one out of order. Line for the women s room 30 feet out the door. A special place.

Disappointing. I was connecting and had to go through security again because my incoming and outgoing gates were not connected. Minimal dining options. Not enough seating or power outlets. Seating area was dirty. Will avoid connecting through San Diego in the future.

Our experience was just fine. There were no long lines. Bags were quickly checked in after using the kiosk to check ourselves in and print our luggage tags and boarding passes. TSA was not a long delay, and we were in the gate area a relatively short period of time before boarding.

The only things I had in my purse were my wallet and my phone. TSA pulled my purse to the side and the officer looked through my wallet. She looked at every gift card closely asking me if they were active or not. I've flown through this airport at least 2000 times in my life time and I've never had an interaction like that. honestly, I thought the lady was going to steal my stuff. She kept checking too see if I was watching what she was doing or not. Even my credit card she grabbed and looked at really closely, asking me questions about it. You just don't do that. It is creepy and an invasion of privacy. Not ok SD.

Free wifi is the only plus at this airport. Pick up is always a mess. The TSA here is especially grouchy. But it's very conveniently located to downtown. The lines in the morning for coffee is ridiculous. Have a cup before you leave.

I realize that I don t fly weekly but I ve flown in and out of enough airports to know the routine. I have been through many TSA screening areas and know the routine by heart. I recently injured my ankle and am forced to wear an air cast. Flying out of BWI, I had no trouble getting through security. Trying to get through security here was a humiliating nightmare. There were 10 people trying to get through security and TSA managed to back it up into a 15 minute wait to get through the screener. I wasn t allowed to wear a sweater through the screener. Then I was pulled aside and treated like a criminal. No one explained what they were doing and the agent couldn t seem to decide what she wanted done. I was forced to go through a pat-down all because of a plastic aircast. And when it was done, 2 of the agents loudly discussed how rude it was of me not to thank them as I struggled to find where they had moved my things. I hope it made y all feel like big, important government workers to treat a military spouse like that.

Let me tell you why this airport gets a five-star review from me.

1) Your plane lands and always pulls right into your gate. (I have never had to wait to get taxied to the gate)
2) when you get off the plane the baggage claim isn't 6 miles away, it's fairly close.
3) Because of how close baggage claim is to the gates, your luggage is practically waiting for you.
4) All of the rental car carriers share one location, you can grab your luggage and hop on to any shuttle. You don't have to wait for a specific shuttle.
5) It's located in the heart of the City..... you can get to where you are going fairly quickly.

I love the City of San Diego, and I really enjoy the airport too.

Man the wifi here really is hit or miss. I travel every week and it only works about half of the time. I wish they would make it a priority instead of the poor job they do with it. When you can get an IP and connected you have to fight with their terms page which is where I run into my problems most of the time. It seems to be worst after the first set of flights are gone. If you coming into the Airport around 10am you will see people standing at the charging stations with their LTE packs on the counter.
