Care is ok, but the billing is terrible. I keep getting bills with no information and have repeatedly asked for itemized statements and have yet to get them. Yesterday I get a bill from a collection agency for an amount I was never billed for previously and no one can tell me what it's for. I have been on a payment plan for months, this is an additional amount that for whatever reason is not a part of the payment plan. Nothing they do makes any sense and don't even try to get an actual human in San Angelo on the phone. That'll happen right after pigs fly.

Lady was EXTREMELY rude on the phone. I called and she told me i don t need to worry about anything and don t need to come there and am too young to make an appointment (I am 18). When i was sharing some concerns she started laughing. This was my first time with this place and will be looking somewhere else. Made me extremely nerves and uncomfortable and was on the verge of tears because of how rude this lady was. Hopefully others have a better experience but she made me very uncomfortable and nerves on the phone. I never even made it into the building.

I wouldn't even give them 1, it was the only option. I have been here with my wife for 3 hours just for them to not even help her. Doctor trying to say she has asthma. She has been coughing up nasty looking stuff as well as coming out of her sinuses. This place is a joke. I'm taking her to Shannon. Community is a joke!!

The Dr was good and made things smooth during the delivery. Certain nurses was informative until the head nurse started putting bad bugs in the other nurses ear just because my phone didn't update the day so therefore I wasn't caught up on today's date as if i don't know when my baby was born yet alone she came unexpectedly early so i had to step out AFTER the baby was born to go grab things that I didn't have readily accessible. And as always consulted with my wife and made sure that she was good and ok with before I left and came right back. When I came back 2 or the nurses were looking at me crazy and didn't even acknowledge me with a meet and greet to introduce who they are and how they were going to play a role in my wife and babies room as if I'm a nobody.

Billing is horrible. Why don't they use one account per person because each time you get a statement it references a different account. Received invoice dated 07/19 for 38.96 with a due date of 08/02 they turned me over to the collection agency and I received a notice from them dated 07/27. I had already paid on 07/28. Community said it could take up to 10 days for my payment to be processed.

I had the most awesome experience at San Angelo community hospital! Everyone was so nice and understanding and considerate they make you feel like you're a very special person. I want to do a little something for the ER doctor who helped me to day. He was probably the most knowledgeable person I've ever met in my life I'd like to say that DR. TOUCHEY is wonderful and I really hope that he stays at community!! I Am going to talk to the head of the emergency department and brag on how wonderful he was! I would also like to acknowledge Nathan my nurse. He was fabulous!

The most God awful beef I have ever had. No one should ruin a good sirlion that way. Breakfast I too a bite of undercooked with no seasoning at all hashbrowns. I ate the cantaloupe! No one told me there was a menu and I called about breakfast. Then I got the menu. I was stuck in bed. I got food about 9am. I was searching for something that I thought I might eat for lunch. Then the doctor said I could go home. Thank God for small mercies. The staff was nice enough but that horrible food was horrible. Low sodium does not mean no sodium.

I thought i was in trouble when i shattered my knee jobless. I was already out of work due to covid so this incident almost destroyed me. heard shannon bought out community so i was skeptical how things would go but they got me in quick and i spent the night on pain meds and Dr. Alexander came in on memorial day to do my knee surgery less than 12hrs later. After that i got sent to my room where Gabriel(day) did ALOT for me and helped me as much as he could. Protecting my privacy but keeping it free as possible so i never felt stressed. Ms. Dawn(?) And Ms. Anonan(?) helped me at night and even got me a few treats to lift my spirits. The staff was at my door to help within 30s to 5mins everytime i needed something and still managed to help all the others in the wing too. The food was a welcome change from my normal diet as well and was delivered fairly quickly. About 5am tuesday i ran into a problem with the meds and i had to suffer for 1.5hrs but got a new custom dose from Dr. A. Himself at 7am that was just <3 I qualified for a charity package so i i dont think ill have any out of pocket expenses besides meds. I dont know if shannon will change anything about community but i hope the experience stays the same. Hospital experiences are never fun but this was probably the best worst case scenario.

One physical therapist was very rude and humiliated me.
The case manager acted very paranoid when I was asking for her to get on the phone with the ombudsman for the skilled nursing facility I was trying to get into. She refused to take the phone and talk to her.
My doctor is great. My nurses were angels. The food was very good. My other physical therapist was very good.

The ER staff was wonderful in regards to my care but what docks this completely down to a 2 is the whole entire billing system they have going.

So many issues with the billing - expect a lot of unnecessary surprises and complete wastes of paper just to get your full bill or an itemized statement. Also, most of their customer service in regards to billing is outsourced to at least 3 different facilities, which is a pain in the rear.

And supposedly according to billing, I was supposed to speak with someone about financial assistance at the time of the ER visit but no one showed up to discuss that matter with me and chose to DQ me right off the bat.

In addition to this, I had told multiple people that I would pursue financial assistance, to which was disregarded and I was sent a final notice and a threat to collections.

My wife had our first baby at SACMC. She is a healthcare professional and was a bit nervous about being on the other side as a patient but we were absolutely blown away with the whole experience. Thank you to everyone involved in my wife and my son s care, I am one proud Dad!

First off,if you care about living or the life of your love one,do not come here. This is the worst hospital that I've ever been to in my life. I have better luck treating myself at home than coming here for the outrageous medical bill.

My father busted his head open and everyone could care less. We were placed into a room to only wait for 35min before someone saw a head trauma. I will NEVER RETURN to this hospital.

The staff have no clue of what they're doing or what they should be doing. Everyone is completely dumbfounded and confused. You will hear people laughing in the hallway as you see your family member start to pass away in the dinky medical bed that they placed them on.

I am completely disgusted and ashamed that this so called hospital is in my community and city that I live in

Never again. Please,if you love your loved ones, don't come here.

I understand not letting me go back with my mom In the ER and they said they would call me when she was ready but to interrupt me as I m trying to explain what is going on with my mom and the nurse turning her back to me as she rolls her eyes at me is not acceptable . After 3 hours I call for an update and they told me she getting antibiotics and still have a hour left to go and was told they would call me
My mom calls me after about hour saying she s ready
To go so I tell her I m waiting outside but I m still waiting for the hospital to call me
I look up and here comes my mom walking out by herself ( mind you she suppose to walk with a walker and supposed to be on oxygen )
No one bringing her out in a wheelchair or walking with no help and no oxygen. I was very frustrated with them

This has to be one of the best hospitals I have seen in a long time. The nurses were all so kind and professional. Took such good care of my husband the whole time he was in the hospital. And the house keeping staff was always cleaning the rooms at least twice a day. The doctors were wonderful. Although my husband had to have heart bypass surgery. The rest of our overall experience was wonderful. Thank you all. It has been 4 weeks since our visit.

I tried multiple times to schedule a mammogram, calling the number in the letter I received but my calls were never returned. I finally had to call my doctor to schedule it for me. Then I tried to set up the online registration and when I called for help, I got someone in Tennessee who only handles billing. I have like the medical personnel I've had contact with, I've had my mammograms done at San Angelo Community Medical Center for years and this is the first time I've had a problem with setting up the appointment. I don't know if something has changed in management but this was not a positive experience. I can only imagine what it must be like for someone new or an elderly person who call the contact number on the website and gets someone in Tennessee. The phone number is the only one on the website for Contact Us with no explanation that is the billing office.

Brought my elderly Mom into ER after walking out of Shannon ER and waiting for 3.5 hours. This is on the heels of being in one of Shannon s Emergency Sick Centers and she being incorrectly diagnosed with pneumonia and told to wait and come back if she felt the same (SMDH)....
Amanda (nurse) and staff did an excellent job caring for her! Afterwards the Head Doctor, Hospital Internist, and Hospital Surgeon (Goova) were all punctual, responsive, and acutely interested in helping and checking on her.
Thank you... I consider your facility one of Angelo s best kept secrets!

My Nurse Toni and the doctor at the E.R. this evening are both exceptional providers!! Toni made sure in a previous er visit, that the doctor listened to me when I had a black widow bite, earlier in the year. Shes always provided excellent care every time and has a wonderful bedside manner. The er doctor this evening has treated me before and is a wonderful man and physician!! Always does a thorough examination and friendly and an excellent job of listening to the patient and very sincere. It's never fun having to go to the er... but those two make it a pleasant experience every time.

This hospital is our home for years we ve gone to Community. They have taken such great care of my parents. Recently my mom was airmed to San Angelo Community.. from the ER to ICU to PCU 4 days later everyone was so nice! Housekeeping would just talk to my mom while they were cleaning her room, nurses would tel her exactly what they were doing in normal talk, her doctors were amazing. Dr. Blanc & Dr. McDonald were so professional and caring.
We ve been hospitalized several time but never this serious and I can honestly say they not only took care of my mom but her family.

The absolute WORST! We say in the ER for 6 hours before being seen. No updates, no nothing. Then the nurse or I thought was a nurse was SUPER rude. Nurse Practitioner Daniel Kern saw my son today af...

Nurse Practitioner Daniel Kern saw my son today after being treated for strep the day before. He was having an adverse reaction to the antibiotic, symptoms involving stomach pain, nausea, dizziness. I was sharing information my wife was relaying to me and he asked if she works in the medical field, to which I responded yes. He asked is she a Dr? I said no. He asked is she a nurse? I said no. He then said oh, she s a receptionist . Then went to tell me if I went to medical school, and if I were to take the board exam, one of the questions is whether a cough is associated with strep. He said no, it is not and since your son has a cough he doesn t have strep. Treating him with an antibiotic won t do any good if it s viral. I said well that s what they gave him yesterday and he followed the instructions. Daniel then said look, if you want another prescription I can prescribe you something different but I m going to make a note of it so it releases me of any liability should your son have a negative reaction. Not only was Daniels behavior inappropriate and disrespectful it was unprofessional. There is a way to deliver communication that bridges gaps in our understanding and his approach did not do that, rather pushes me away. Daniel went on to act like he s a Dr and knows so much more than anyone else and he isn t even a doctor!! I did share this with the supervisor on duty and called her superior to share this feedback, with hopes it makes it to Daniel and he grows from it.

We received exceptional care by the wonderful healthcare professionals at San Angelo Community Medical Center, the birthplace of wow. We delivered our daughter safely and comfortably and were supported and cared for by the wonderful nursing team and our OB. (Name withheld due to privacy, but we absolutely love her.) This facility and its employees keep safety and cleanliness a high priority which is important during all times but especially during these last few months. We are incredibly grateful for every heart and hand that made this such a wonderful experience for us and will forever cherish the memories of the birth of our daughter and our stay with Community Medical Center as one filled with love, hope and comfort. We highly reccomend this Hospital and its staff to care for you and yours.

Thank you,

I have visited the ER at SACMC 2X in one week now....

I have visited the ER at SACMC 2X in one week now. Last Sunday evening I took my 2 1/2 year old son in because he had a temperature (underarm) of 104.1 that I could not break even after administering acetaminophen and giving a tepid bath. Shannon Urgent Care was closed and I was on the south side of town so we visited the ER at SACMC. The male nurse asked what was going on and when I attempted to tell him and answer his questions, he continuously cut me off and would not allow me to finish. The male doctor was more polite but he simply looked in my child's ear and stated there was a lot of wax but it was "probably" an ear infection. He did not test for strep or flu. When I asked the nurse why these tests would not be conducted he responded with, "his throat doesn't look red and the flu is a virus so we can't really prescribe anything for that anyway." After all was said and done, we were prescribed an antibiotic called Suprax. NONE of the pharmacies in town carried this antibiotic and it had to be ordered so my son was not able to start them right away. The pharmacist was puzzled as to why such a rare antibiotic was ordered. Fast forward 6 days to our next visit which was this evening and things didn't get much better. I went in with severe lower back pain. X-rays were ordered and I remained in the room for almost 2 hours (in pain) without being updated even once. My father came up to the hospital and asked the nurse why nothing had been done to alleviate my pain yet. The nurse was very rude and told my father, "the doctor is very busy intubating another patient right now." I can understand that my pain was not life threatening at the moment but the doctor was not intubating anyone an hour prior as I sat in the room crying from the pain. The PA came in about 30 minutes later and said my x-rays did not show any abnormalities and I was fine. Mind you, I could barely sit up without crying. She said she could prescribe a muscle relaxer but that they were "not proven to even work." She prescribed a medication called Robaxin which is not safe while breastfeeding (which I informed them of) and told me to "pump and dump" and to call our pediatrician if I needed more info about this. All in all, both experiences were awful and I am extremely disappointed in the bedside manner, or lack thereof, shown by the doctors and nurses in the emergency department at SACMC. We will not be returning.

You can't pay your bill with them. They don't have a billing office. You will get mail from "Regional Employee Assistance Program". That's their billing office in Maine. I didn't open the letter because it looked like spam. Their toll free Maine billing office closes at 4:30pm. Good luck trying to get anything straightened out with insurance if you have a day job. You cannot drive there and see anyone in person about your bill.

Wow!! This place is incredible. Every interaction we had from our first appointment to birth was fantastic. Our doctor, Dr Henke, has been in the game so long he delivered the labor and delivery nurse we had. Every team member we met, everyone we spoke to; reception, COVID screening, billing, lab, nurses, OBs, the cafeteria staff, house keeping, labor and delivery, recovery, - EVERYONE made us feel like part of their family. The facility is sterile, the appointments are timely, the staff is great, the food is delicious. Us having our first child here really set the bar HIGH for where ever we are stationed for the next baby. Thank you, SACMC.

Go somewhere else. I had a horrendous experience w...

Go somewhere else. I had a horrendous experience with the ER. Admitted myself mid afternoon thinking I was having a heart attack. They ran multiple blood tests, did an EKG, took an xray of my heart, and a CT angiogram (CT was $4200 alone which they did not tell me). After all that the doctor never came in to go over the results! A nurse came in after hours of waiting and said I was discharged, though I said none of the test results had been discussed. She left to check with the doctor and came back saying "he said everything looks good" and sent me on my way.

The doctor came in when I was first admitted and all he wanted to talk about was how I shouldn't be worried at all about covid and politics. Politics. So it turns out I was not having a heart attack but blood pressure problems. Side note, when your blood pressure is elevated to dangerous levels it simulates very similar symptoms of a heart attack. It took a long time to get it down while waiting for the other results, but then when they dismissed me without even going over all the tests it went right back up.

Oh, another fun thing. While I was waiting the heart monitor suddenly started going off. The screen indicating something critical. No one came in. I repeatedly hit the nurse call button for several minutes. Finally someone came in and said that the call button is finicky and doesn't always work. Which is something to consider if you are actually in critical condition. When I asked about the monitor she said sometimes that acts up too. Seriously?!

I still have not received copies of any of the test results and the ER billed my insurance for $10,412. I'll say that again, $10,412. Truly one of the worst medical experiences of my entire life.

I came to the ER for rectal bleeding post colonoscopy. The ER staff were very competent, meet my immediate needs then moved me to hospital observation. Had to have a repeat scope to stop bleeding. Medical staff was xompetent, caring and addressed my issues. Throughout my stay, no matter where I went the staff were friendly, competent and helpful. Radiology staff explained every procedure and made me comfortable with an uncomfortable procedure. Lab staff was empathetic towards the numerous blood draws I needed.
My wife and I each have been nurses nearly 40 years. The one thing we were blown away with is the nursing staff. Neither one of us have ever seen a collection of well trained, competent and empathetic nurses in one facility. They most of all made my stay tolerable.

I underwent emergency hernia surgery out of town i...

I underwent emergency hernia surgery out of town in December of 2018. I was in the hospital for five days and then was home for five weeks for recovery. The recovery was extremely difficult and painful. In July of 2019 I realized that I didn't feel right. I made an appointment with Dr. Boyd, and he did some tests and said I still had a hernia. I was able to continue my vacation and Dr. Boyd told me to enjoy but to take it easy. When I returned from vacation, Dr Boyd scheduled my surgery. He performed robotic surgery on me the end of July and I went home that day. I could return to work in three days. Recovery was a breeze. Dr. Boyd was kind, concerned, and explained everything to me in words that I could understand. He knew that I was very nervous because of my previous surgery.
Dr. Boyd and his staff are extremely personal and helpful. I felt very welcomed in their office. You can tell they care about their patients.
I would highly recommend Dr. Boyd and the robotic surgery.
