Go somewhere else. I had a horrendous experience with the ER. Admitted myself mid afternoon thinking I was having a heart attack. They ran multiple blood tests, did an EKG, took an xray of my heart, and a CT angiogram (CT was $4200 alone which they did not tell me). After all that the doctor never came in to go over the results! A nurse came in after hours of waiting and said I was discharged, though I said none of the test results had been discussed. She left to check with the doctor and came back saying "he said everything looks good" and sent me on my way.
The doctor came in when I was first admitted and all he wanted to talk about was how I shouldn't be worried at all about covid and politics. Politics. So it turns out I was not having a heart attack but blood pressure problems. Side note, when your blood pressure is elevated to dangerous levels it simulates very similar symptoms of a heart attack. It took a long time to get it down while waiting for the other results, but then when they dismissed me without even going over all the tests it went right back up.
Oh, another fun thing. While I was waiting the heart monitor suddenly started going off. The screen indicating something critical. No one came in. I repeatedly hit the nurse call button for several minutes. Finally someone came in and said that the call button is finicky and doesn't always work. Which is something to consider if you are actually in critical condition. When I asked about the monitor she said sometimes that acts up too. Seriously?!
I still have not received copies of any of the test results and the ER billed my insurance for $10,412. I'll say that again, $10,412. Truly one of the worst medical experiences of my entire life.
