Very well priced and delicious. The rolls were much larger than usual. Our server George was awesome and very knowledgeable. Their blue fin tuna sashimi was excellent as was the cucumber fiesta roll which is keto friendly. Definitely recommend giving this place a try if you are searching for a quick and easy sushi restaurant.

If you're looking for teppanyaki Skip This Place. Kobe down the street is so much better. Kobe charges you less and gives you more. Extra for Teppanyaki vegetables and rice? Who does that? This place. On top of the already too high prices. Better service better food better price at Kobe. Why would anyone go here?

I ve only been to this location once. The service was not good. Our server forgot about us several times and she forgot to put in my sons order. The food was good and really I guess that s why you go to a restaurant. But I ll stick to the location in Mesa from now on.

Placed a to-go order that they said would take 15 mins. 50 mins later we finally got our order but they gave us the wrong food. And it was cold and soggy. The people were nice but the service and food quality was bad to say the least.

I have been coming here for three years!!! This is my favorite sushi spot, they never disappoint. I suggest sitting at the sushi bar, the personalities there make great conversation. Shout out to chef Moonie, Ramon, and Julian. They are awesome sushi bar companions l.

Hostess was super friendly. Service was pretty slow. Sushi was really good. Ordered a ramen and it was subpar. The chicken in the app was overcooked. So stick with the sushi! Did I mention they ran out of sake?

Went there on Friday bout 6ish and it was moderately busy in dining room but no one at the hibachi tables. Ordered a bunch of sushi and maki to go rather than dine in. Sat at bar while waiting for food and their liquor and beer selection was extremely limited. Bartender said they are revamping their menu so inventory is light.
Started out with a combo salmon and tuna poke poke bowl which was incredible. It was loaded with fish and the greens were very fresh. Huge portion too! I then had a variety of sushi and maki rolls and all of it was excellent. Nice sized pieces. They didnt have proper To Go containers so they used styrofoam ones which allowed the sushi to be thrown around and ultimately fall apart. Hope they adjust that with the menu refresh!
Staff was very pleasant and I wish we had the time to eat inside rather than take it To Go.
Tables were spacious and dining room had nice ambience.

I have been going to Sakana on and off for at least 5 years now. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in AZ. The quality of the sushi is excellent as well as the portion size of the fish. I've only had one bad experience with service and that was years ago. The only complaint I have is that they don't carry Orion Beer as I feel every good Sushi place should.

I have visited this place for several times. This time gave me a very bad experience.
1. I sat at sushi bar but it was very cold. I asked my waitress whether can change seat for me twice but she never give me any update. Just leave me there.
2. I ordered Tokoyo styles miso shoyu ramen. They just gave me two pieces fat meat. My waitress never came to check with me.
This restaurant may need to give a better employee training.

I am currently at the Sakana Sushi place and have been for and hour. I was a walk-in for carry out order. People have came and gone and Im still waiting. My daughter got her food but is now just sitting waiting on her mother. This is ridiculous and I will not be returning! I understand that it is busy but waiting an hour plus is too much. SMH. I wish i could give a negative.

Friendly staff, Fast Service and food was good but was over priced. For two rolls it was $10 each. We did not take advantage of the all you can eat sushi that was $21 per person. After having 2 rolls, appetizer and 2 waters, we left with a bill of $25. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Absolutely amazing place! I've been here several times and the sushi is outstanding. The people are great, the atmosphere is fun yet comfortable, and they have many gluten free options. Even gluten free soy sauce! Best sushi hands down. Go there asap.

I am a big sushi person, it s one of my favorite kinds of food. This place holds some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. First of all the sushi is HUGE! Much larger than most other places (I mean that in a good way). The quality of the sushi is great, and has wonderful flavor. Also it has a fun atmosphere.
With the size, quality, taste and the atmosphere all together, you would think it would be a lot more expensive. Nope! It matches the typical pricing of most sushi places.
So basically, you can go somewhere else and get sushi, or you can go to Sakana and get a bigger portion of food that tastes better for the same price.

Sakana was previously one of our favorite sushi pl...

Sakana was previously one of our favorite sushi places, but last month we had a second terrible experience that has since changed our feelings toward them.

The restaurant itself is not lacking in decor or anything, it's the service. The second to last time we went, it was for my birthday. We arrived to a moderately busy restaurant, were seated fairly quickly, and subsequently forgotten about. Our waitress needed some significant flagging down to finally take our drink orders, then promptly forgot them and came back twice to get them again. We had been here during much busier services and never been neglected like this. We ordered the teppanyaki and LITERALLY had to tell the guy what to do, it was embarrassing. I spoke to the manager after several more blunders on the part of the wait staff, then seriously considered whether we should return again, ever.

The last straw was even worse. We got there just as they opened, waited 20 minutes to be seated (ridiculous), then couldn't even eat the food that was prepared (I use the word loosely). Half of each of my scallops stuck to the grill since the cook apparently turned the heat to the "burning sun" setting then decided he needed no oil or butter. The steaks were basically hamburger when he finished with them, and he never said a word after he went over our orders.

The most embarrassing part was, as we shared the table with another couple who had never been here, we spent the first 25 minutes saying how GREAT this place is (was) and how much they would enjoy their first experience at Sakana. The only real thing we got to eat that night were our own words.

I'll never go to or recommend Sakana Sushi again.

I splurged like a fat kid here and even though I thought I was going to roll all the way home, I did not regret it one bit. Their specialty sushi rolls is where its at. They have great flavor combos and everything tastes fresh and super delicious. Their spicy rolls do not mess around- I could not eat 2 pieces back-to-back since i felt like a dragon spewing fire after each one (yet I kept coming back for more). Its definitely on the pricey side so I wouldn't come here all the time but would definitely return when I have the capacity to devour an entire menu all over again.

Only two stars because the food was delicious! I gave two stars due to the fact that we were basically neglected. It took about 6-8 minutes to be noticed once we walked through the door. Then 10min 2 people got seated next to me and my wife. They were asked about drinks before my wife and I. Then they got to order before us. Our waiter was just completely rude. Didn't say anything to us. I was very disappointed since we've gone there plenty of times.

My husband and I used to love this place, but we both got food poisoning on Sunday after eating here. We did not eat anything raw, but I think they do not separate the knives they use when they prepare food. I am still sick 3 days later.

This is the best sushi in town! Very good staff, authentic Japanese. Attentive and extremely well priced. I love the sashimi with toro, the blood orange and the lobster rolls the best. I highly recommend Sakana.

So glad we found this place. Most teppenyaki is overpriced with subpar food. This is not the case with Sakana. I usually have photos to post but I just dove right in and didn't even think about it until later. Talia was our server. She was prompt, attentive, and very pleasant. She made sure we were happy with everything. Steven was the star for me! He is a perfect combination of skill, entertainment, and really good dad jokes. I saw tricks I had never seen before and the food was awesome. Not only that, but he was very conscientious about making sure everything was cooked to our liking. Food was really good, large portions, and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for more teppenyaki and to sample the rest of their variety of Japanese food.
