Amazing quality of fish for a good price and a great service

I waited half and hour and never got my food, my friends sushi was soggy, and when asked about my food the staff didn t give a direct answer nor said they will check up and lmk.

I recently moved to this area and I'm so happy I found a good sushi place. Joey was our server, very pleasant and kind. He gave us different recommendations for sushi and everything was delicious! I will be going back for more!

Quality fish, and tons of sauces! The staff is excellent they make the experience that much better.

Usually go to ah so but came here to try because of good ratings. Was TERRIBLE. Spend your money elsewhere. Too expensive not too. My boyfriend and I went here today. A Friday night and having reservations at 7. As soon as we walked in trouble. Couldn't get a table, then we were sat at the bar from the manager and were allowed free drinks. Which the bartender kisha wouldn't even look at us ignored while she did whatever. Still giving this place a chance we ordered sushi. Come to My surprise that was messed up too. Soggy rolls with nothing but a dead leaf besides them. Still giving one more chance. Tried ordering our food. And server said we weren't allowed to split anything (still getting full sides and a side order of chicken too). After I heard the rest of my table splitting entrees needless to say we paid for the soggy sushi and left. Terrible first and last experience.

Awesome place. Our favorite spot for sushi. They do a Mahi Mahi Tempura roll that my wife loves. Been here for Bdays, Wedding Rehearsal Dinner, Anniversaries, etc. Nice atmosphere. Sunday-Thursday sushi specials.. Check them out.

Food is delicious. Dez is super friendly and knowledgeable and amazing experience with great prices.

Salina is by far the best sushi in town. They are always on point with their fish. I always have good service. It s always busy, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. Plan to wait a little bit for your table. It s so worth the wait though

Sushi and the feeling at this place is excellent. Got there about two, it was not packed. The service was very sociable and kind. This place has a nice atmosphere. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.

I keep trying other sushi restaurants and I keep on wishing they were more like Sakana. This place has been my go to for years.

The sushi was trash , we waited 2 hours for my friend s ramen just for it to never get here , the workers and management are just terrible I highly suggest you never take the time or money to even come to this poor managed and ghetto establishment

This is our favorite sushi place in the valley. Great quality of food and a variety of sushi to choose from. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. We try to come here as often as we can even though we're clear on the other side of the valley. Great place to stop before you hit up IKEA!

I never give 5 stars but...HUGE portions of very fresh fish, delicious unagi, and consistency every time we eat here, make my belly very happy.

The food is top notch, some people say "oh this place has good sushi" and rarely do i believe them. This is probably the best place ive been to in Arizona though. Food quality is top notch. The servers are friendly and amazingly cool. Also the prices are the best ive seen.

I enjoyed this sushi restaurant. Great customer service and tasty sushi. Gets busy so come early.

Went 2 days in a row. My wife had sushi and I had ramen yesterday. We had sushi and teppanyaki today. Great waitstaff and chef, amazing food.

Good fresh sushi. They have quail eggs which you don't find everywhere. I am a reg at this place!

I'm changing my review from 4 to 2 stars. This place has gone to the dogs. The last two times I've been here the service has been extremely slow and poor. The sushi rice, which should be a sushi chef's baseline skill, was wet and terrible tasting. The fish was still good. But who wants to eat soggy sushi??

Sakana is way too small for their clientele. They have the small roll menu which is good for picking and choosing. Get the big roll if you're ready to commit: it's much more food, probably 150% of the smaller roll. Drinks aren't very competitively priced.

sushi and the scene at this spot is very good. Looking forward to going back again. The bill was average for the menu.

Came her for a birthday dinner after we finished doing the Escape Room a few doors down. It was a Sunday night, so they were able to accommodate our large group. I am a sucker for teppanyaki and was pleased with it at Sakana. Everything was delicious and our chef had a great sense of humor which always makes it more fun!

After visiting this location, I would like to visit the location in Glendale as it is much closer to my house.

I will never go to Sakana again. This was my first time. A waitress brought us drinks once we were seated and we never saw another waiter again. We had to stop someone to get in our order and then it came out in pieces. They were taking so long I had to cancel my sushi. Then they had troubles splitting checks. One of the waitresses yelled at me when I asked for my card because it had been 10 minutes for them to close out the bill! Again, I will never go to Sakana again.

Always a great treat. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

We had a wonderful experience at Sakana. Sara was our server and she was splendid. Came around just the right amount and was very helpful in splitting our bill. George bussed our table and made friendly conversation while doing so! We felt welcome and the food was wonderful. Their prices are great for quality food!

For the price you can't beat it. Eat here once a week

High quality sushi at resonable prices. I recommend the albacore tuna! They have fresh wasabi by request. Nice service as well.

One of my favorite sushi places in the Phoenix area. Good value, great food. We have had great service most of the time, and poor service occasionally. Restaurant is small and sometimes crowded, but not usually bothersome.

Their sushi may be great, but their other Japanese items leave a bit to be desired.
This was my first time here. Ordered the chicken cutlet lunch special. Chicken was good, bit quite think,a nd a lot more than I expected. Rice was ok. Salad was ok. Salad dressing was terrible and way too salty. Katsu sauce was cold and tasted like it came out of a bottle.

Sadly my experiance was sup par at best. The food made everyone in my company sick. We each took turns sharing the bathroom most of the night.
Towards the end of our meal we found ourselves surrounded by the staff waiting for us to leave 30 mins before closing. Which they made it more than clear it was time to leave, when they shut off the blasting Justin Bieber music.

When I first came across this place I had very high hopes, and it was all true. The food was amazing, with different varieties of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi. The ambient is very nice and cozy, with a beautiful design, from the teppanyaki tables to the bar, their service is excellent, the waiters and waitresses are always kind and informative about their dishes, and finally for the pricing, in which it is good such as their Premium Sakana which is one of my personal favorites. If you ever have the chance to come here, I highly suggest it.

Good sushi, happy hour prices are great. Removing a star because the service has really gone downhill, consistently. Also, every time I've been here in the last year it seems drone has "just ordered the last Uni." If you stopped carrying something, take it off the menu, just don't lie whenever someone asks for it. There is never an excuse to lie to the customer.

it was a great place...... but for me a place is about consistency, clean facility and honesty.

dont tell me you never serve something when I have spend hundreds coming here for the same thing. dont offer stuff on the menu when you cant do it. poor management leads to these issues.

Thay have awsone service and my friends took me there for an early Birthday present and they sung to me and had me rub the belly of the cat statue and it's supposed to bring me good fortune

Some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Rip off city... They skimp on protien in the roll.. eel roll no eel. Salmon roll no salmon... Awful experience.

Great and delicious sushi right here! Went here with my friends and had a great time together with them.

The service was a bit slow and our menus were sticky, but the sashimi made up for these minor deficiencies. (My partner's shrimp tempura was "so-so.") Still, the experience was good enough that we will probably return.

I really enjoy this place. I don't write too many reviews but this place is awesome. I love their sushi...That's all I've had but it's so awesome.

Best sushi ever. I eat sushi ever chance I get and in every city I visit and nothing ever really compares to the freshness and flavor of Sakana. Their dragon rolls and rainbow rolls are divine.

I've been eating at this location for years. I love the crew, the food, the service, and pretty much everything else about this place. The atmosphere isn't too loud, the bart is good, and the teppanyaki is great. I've never had a complaint, and probably never will!

I recently told my friends I had the best sushi of my life here. I'm not exaggerating. Out of all my travels, all the high end sushi restraunts, this place is the best. Hard to describe how amazing the flavors of the sauces, with the freshness of fish and perfectly made rice, combine to an experience in itself. Worth the drive and worth the wait.

Went to this location last night..I have been to 2 others in the valley and enjoy their food. The 3 starts is because I really loved the food! The sushi was amazing and I would happily pick this spot over the nearby Stingray or RA however our service was horrible! First the waitress came up to us a few too many times and we felt rushed then she disappeared....then after we finished our food she asked if we wanted anything else and we said we were not sure yet so 5 minutes later she comes back with the check and clears off our table never to rerurn again (an hour later) another waitress finaly checked us out. We were both shocked! Horrible service!

The best of Sushi places in Ahwatukee. Good values, nice sized portions, a little slow but that's because they are so much in demand. Excellent yellowtail.

Love the sushi. Fresh. Good portion sizes. Moderate prices. Environment is fine. Service is fine. All I care about is the sushi. Delicious albacore tuna and yellow tail sashimi. Yummy spicy salmon rolls. Yummy crunchy eel rolls!

This place is a bargain basement of tepanyaki grills. They have no yum yum sauce and lie to get you to stay. We had multiple servers who served us but said oh I'm not your server. One guy did all the grilling for the entire 4 table tepanyaki area. Don't let the cheap prices reel you in. They do not have filet mignon or kobe beef here. Cheap grade of meat and shrimp. On addition the service was so slow we had to wait 20 minutes for our server to bring out tab.

Food was good for me. Was part of a larger party, and that's where the challenges came from. Seating a larger group of guests is somewhat of a challenge as the restaurant is configured for smaller parties with smaller tables or be seated at a Teppan Yaki table (total of 6). Once we were seated, some of the orders in the party were misinterpreted. The server was quick to address the issue and very gracious by reducing the order price for the inconvenience. When an order was unsatisfying, the manager apologized and removed the item from the meal. All in all, the staff do their best, but the experience was 3 star because a lot of the issues could have been avoided. When the food and order is correct, I enjoyed the entree and sushi rolls.

The food was great and the guys behind the sushi bar were very friendly but the waiting staff practically ignored my friend and I. Another couple who came in after us got their drinks and service from the waitress at least 10 minutes before a waitress even came to us. We asked for the check 20 minutes before we got it. I'm just not sure they realized we were still there. I've have better dinners here but was really disappointed tonight. And again, the food and the guys behind the sushi bar are awesome.

The sushi is delicious! The bento lunch box is an awesome deal. If you're going for lunch don't expect to be seated right away, the place is small and gets full fast. The calamri salad is amazing!

We love Sakana and have been going for date night pretty often.

The service is very inviting and they share their happy!

Unprofessional & bad service! Kept changing the story to get us seated (20 minutes turned into 45+), and seated everyone else who came in after us with no open communication about what was going on!

After about a 30 minute wait, we were seated. Overall the food was good. Got the 6 roll chief choice, which included toro, salmon, scalloped, crab, yellowtail and lobster. Crab roll was the best but overall a place to check out for sure.

Amazing sushi and a cool atmosphere, they always have good service. Drinks and food are pretty cheap as well, you can leave full and drunk for $40

This place is absolutely great. Every piece of sushi is fresh and made perfectly. Very clean establishment. My favorite part was my server. A young lady named Li. She was very nice and even after I had at least 60 pieces and it was 30 mins until close, she still asked me if I wanted dessert or if I wanted to try another roll. Overall the place is outstanding and I can t wait to come back.

Came for lunch. Food took awhile to come out, and not all together. One person had their food for 10 minutes tell everyone else's came out. Good food, but service is a little slow for those who have work after lunch.

The service is decent, with reasonably friendly staff. However, personally, I would consider this place average, at Best. Wich is the reason for the 3 stars.

Yes they do have quite a variety of sushi. However in comparison to places you'd find in Hawaii or California, the flavor does not quite compare.

We are probably not likely to return. Not because it was bad, but just because it's not quite what we're looking for.

With that said, we've heard a number of people rave about this place, which is why went to check it. So give it a shot and see what you think.

Went to lunch at Sakana with coworkers. Easy to get to, right off of the 101 on 59th Avenue, in the Fry's center. The menu was diverse and everything was delicious. We had a variety of sashimi--ahi, yellowtail, salmon; miso soup, several rolls, and salads. The service was attentive; however, not overpowering. The dining room was busy, yet quiet enough to hear one another. Servings were generous, employees friendly. A definite place to check out when you're in the mood for sushi.
