Delicioso sushi!!! Best hands down roll is the Pink Flamingo.

The wife and I go here damn near every other week. The food is excellent. Best sushi we've ever had. I travel allot with work and have been numerous sushi restaurants. Sakana has all these places beat by miles. Absolutely the best, great service and clean, every single time. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Excellent.

Great food and service. Prices are reasonable. If anything is not a 5, it would be the ambience.

Great spot for sushi. There are better places, but Sakana is consistently good and price is right. I eat here with clients about once every couple of months.

3 1/2 stars for this spot- ordered take out.. they have a nice special of 2 specialty rolls and 2 sodas, get 1 specialty roll free, so I went for that. The Moab roll is their newest addition and what was recommended to me. It's odd in that it has lemon slices on top, but it is decently refreshing. Not my favorite ever, but it's a nice change. Pairs well with the spicy top and mild inner roll. I also ordered the Playboy Roll- shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber and topped with tuna, spicy mayo, eel sauce and tobiko- it's good but nothing special. My favorite is oddly the cheapest and basic- Caterpillar Roll.. love the mix of avocado and cucumber with the eel sauce. They

With new age western decor, Sakana sushi immediately comes off as a small cafe as opposed to a prestigious sushi restaurant, but I wasn't quick to judge and I'm glad I didn't. I have made a habit of coming in around one o'clock for their lunch special (a list of full-sized rolls for $7.99? You can't beat that.) at least once a week and it certainly doesn't break my budget (my budget being that of a starving college student). The calm and relatively un-busy atmosphere make this a good place for anything from homework to a lunch date and the friendly banter from their chefs make this a good place to just chill for a while.

If you need an inexpensive sushi place with fresh, relatively well-made sushi, Sakana would be my first recommendation to anyone who asked.

Little pricy but always delicious fresh sashimi and sushi. My favorite place to eat out in West Jordan. Add friendly staff and fast service and can't go wrong.

My family and I came here today (3/30/17)for the first time and we were so happy we did. The food was amazing. We love sushi and tried multiple rolls and they were delicious. The waitress was nice and took time explaining what rolls they had that we knew by other names. She brought a side of Edemame on the house. Since it was my husband and my anniversary she brought over mango and strawberry mochi ball ice cream at the end of the meal on the house. This place is fantastic! Highly recommend it. On the way out we did have a question the server answered the best she could but the owner took it upon himself to come explain it to us and was super nice. Will tell everyone I know and definitely be back!!!!

I have been getting sushi here for years, yet to have any issues. The sushi it's self is amazing. The service is all ways top notch as well. By far my favorite sushi place.

Right when we walked in there was a couple waiting to pay their check, only had to wait 10 min to be seated. In the past food has been amazing however today we had a bad experience with the waitress. So bad we left before even ordering food which we tried twice to do but she kept walking off. Rudely pointed to a booth and told us to go sit. She had to clarify because there were two. I gave three stars for past food and experience but today was a zero :)

The worst place I've ever walked in to say there waiting to be helped and they all kept looking at me shaking they're head very upsetting I will never go there again

Truely great experience. My girlfriend and I had our first date here, (although I've been here for years) and anytime we crave sushi we come to sakana. Friendly staff, talented chefs, great atmosphere, and amazing sushi. I request for Kirby to make my rolls everytime, oh and try the samurai roll (not on menu) it's the best!

Super delicious sushi, definitely the BEST in the area. A tad bit on the pricey side of things bit it's worth it due to quality. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow here especially when lacking servers just an fyi plan to spend at least an hour to two while dinning. They even have "cheater" pieces to use chopsticks for those that dont know how .

The Pink Flamingo and Mars Roll were favorites of mine. It had been a while since we have eaten sushi, but this place did not disappoint! Prices were as expected for sushi, but high quality sushi no doubt. ( watch for happy hour!)

This is a sushi joint we frequent often. They use quality and fresh fish and we've never had problems with the rolls we've ordered. On Monday and Tuesday nights they have a special if you buy 2 rolls and 2 drinks you get a 3rd roll free. The table service is good although the sushi "makers" can be QUITE slow. I would not suggest this place if you're in a hurry. If you have the time to stick around you'll be rewarded with some good food.

Yeah hoesntly... I was super disappointed. I've had bad sushi before but this was actually one of the worst I've ever had. The service was just okay not bad. But the food... Bad.

Good sushi and great owner. Had a last minute babysitter cancellation, so I took my daughter with me and my wife to meet some friends. Owner was their, saw my daughter and pulled out a toy from behind the counter for her to play with. He said he kept it there for his kids when they come in. It was a nice gesture. BTW they have different foods for those who aren't fans of sushi, like my 19 month old.

Amazing sushi! The fish is so fresh. The owners are both really nice. Love it here. Haven't found anywhere that compares to the freshness in the valley.

Sat us down and no one came and spoke to us for 12 minutes. We found a hostess about 5 minutes in and told her we didn t have anyone helping us. She walked over to the manager and nothing changed. We left.

This place has some of the best sushi out there, and decent prices. Highly recommend the rock and roll and Dragon roll. The staff are really cool too like OC, Kirby and Alex just to name a few.

This sushi place is delicious! Been to a lot of sushi places in the Salt Lake area and it's by far my favorite! We tried multiple types of rolls, which all passed our expectations. Friendly staff, free edamame, and fantastic miso soup.

Service is okayish. Three people made eye contact with us before someone finally greeted us and offered a table. We were going based off the reviews hoping to have found decent sushi(being from California it's one of our favorites). I don't know if we're just spoiled by fresh sushi or what, but I ordered a caterpillar roll to play it safe and was incredibly disappointed. I honestly have never found a caterpillar roll that I didn't enjoy, but I couldn't even finish it. It was like eating sushi from the grocery store. Thankfully I ordered chicken tats along with it, which was okay but nothing special. Honestly I don't see myself ever coming back here.

Friendly staff. Delicious food. I had the chicken. California roll, and the fire cracker. All really good. Fire cracker was the best. And.. The chef gave me three tries to catch the shrimp in my mouth. !! Solid fun restaurant.

Came here for lunch with some friends and the sever was very nice. She was knowledgable about the menu and made some great suggestions. The sushi is pretty good, not mind blowing but definitely worth a try.

Sushi was really good with a fair price

We have been going to Sakana since they first opened years ago. We frequent this establishment 2 to 4 times a month. We have had pretty much everything on the menu. I cannot think of a single thing we did not like. This is our favorite Japanese restaurant. It does not get any better. Also it is immaculately clean and the staff is so friendly, and the owners are also super nice.

Sakana was great! We went at a busy time, so service was a bit slow, but it was fine, no complaints. Rolls were delicious as always. Kids loved the edamame and couldn't get enough.

While the sushi was good, the kids menu lacked. Kids got fish and chips and while the fries were good, the fish lacked flavor. Obviously the kids menu isn't going to be why people come here, but it was pretty bland. No stars taken for that reason alone, but it could use a rework

Food was pretty good. Not great. The service wasn't that good and they weren't even that busy. Review on last visit.... Ichiban sushi was only half a roll, at $7.25. way to expensive for just veggies.

I will not ever be going there again. I went in by myself, it's Tuesday. Not very full, lots of chef's. 20 Mins to make one roll plus a small roll. It was way way WAY overpriced. Almost three times as much as other places I have been to which are all you can eat sushi. The fish was good but it was definitely not worth the price I paid and the portion was way smaller too. I can eat all you can eat at Sushi Ya for 20.00 bucks for dinner and the sushi is very very good. Poor service. I still tipped well but I will never return, that's for sure.

Mid-grade sushi at fair prices. There is nothing fancy or special about Sakana, but it is a solid choice if you're craving sushi and are in the area. I've eaten there a handful of times, and never once been let down.

They have repeatedly gotten my take put orders wrong. I am no longer one of their customers.

This is our favorite sushi place! We love the selection, freshness and price. The staff is always kind and never hurry us or ignore us.

Fast, friendly, and could recommend a good roll for me. Also, they have more than a few vegetarian rolls. They're simple. But it also is more appealing.

Edit: Dec 2020- Very disappointed in our experience tonight. We have been coming here for years. Tonight my daughter earned her Black Belt, which she has been working hard for many years to achieve. It was already a difficult and lack luster evening for her as much of her ceremony had to be completed on zoom. We decided to come here afterwards to try to add something special to the evening (her absolute favorite is sushi). Our server of the bat was not very friendly and seemed like she wanted to rush us to order. Once we ordered I snuck over to one of the hosts and a chef and told them why we were there and asked if they could possibly do something special for her. The chef was very excited for her and seemed to want to help. The host said he would talk to the owner Jenny. He came by the table to tell me Jenny would come talk to me. I was giving him gestures to please keep it on the down low as I wanted it to be a surprise and he walked away. I believe Jenny came by the table, by only to ask how the food was. Again, our waitress was not very pleasant or friendly. She asked if we would like anymore and we ordered 2 more rolls on top of the 4 rolls and 4 nigiris that we had already eaten, as well as a beer for me. She brought the two rolls out but didn't bring my beer, that is until she brought us the check. She did not ask us if we were finished, she didn't ask if we would like dessert, she just brought the check...and my beer, apparently after she had decided our meal was over. I was going to order some mochis for everyone. Nothing ever did come to the table for my daughter. No one said anything or did anything.
As we were leaving the resurant I privately asked the host what had happened and he said that Jenny said they can't really do anything like that, because it's only for birthdays. We spent $140 on dinner and I would have been perfectly willing to spend more on a little brownie with some writing on it or whatever if that's what it took, but I wasn't offered that option. I just wanted her to feel special about this really important achievement that already had the wind taken out of its sails.
I never did drink that beer because it came just as they obviously wanted us to leave, but they still charged me for it! We went next door to crumble and dropped a bunch of money on cookies instead since Sakana clearly wasn't too interested in seeing if we needed anything else.
If you are wanting to make a night feel special for someone, go somewhere else. It won't happen for you here (I guess unless you say its your birthday?) Its a shame. Very disappointed, and I feel pretty turned off from coming here again after the treatment we received.

I really love this place! The service is usually really great! The owner is such a friendly lady! And the food!!! Gawwhhhhhh! Hands down, the best sushi we have found in the Salt Lake valley! We were crushed when our old favorite downtown closed due to retirement, so we searched and searched everywhere for our new favorite. This is it! The overnight their tuna every. single. day! No MSG or anything else funky, just delicious, expertly crafted sushi! Their nigiri is perfect every time. The atmosphere is really great as well, I love that the booths are totally separate an private, you can actually have a private conversation!

I ve Been here multiple times and it s always delicious! I highly recommend the Berry Hot roll. It s not listed on the menu but is always a favorite! I highly recommend this restaurant for dine in or takeout

Rolls are very small, we ordered 3 rolls for $35, if you re hungry I recommended order 3 per person!

This place is a great sushi bar, their teryaki chicken is great. It's very tender and the miso soup their is out of this world. I got some fried shrimp and it was a good 8/10. They also have beer available and some sake if you like that. Check it out.

We always love the unique rolls. Monkey Brains is a fav. Very kind service.

This place is excellent. The sushi chefs are very talented and are worth trusting with your sushi order. I don't even order off the menu anymore. Just ask what's fresh, mention your favorites and say 'impress me'. The staff is very friendly and remember who we are every time we go, and we are frequently checked on by the owners. We don't go there nearly as often as their regular customers, either.

Amazing place!!!! The food is always high quality! The price you pay is definitely worth it. The employees are great and the owners really take pride in their company. I will definitely be coming back!
