Moving here from Washington state, trying to find GOOD FRESH sushi was a challenge, but Sakana's has become our go-to sushi place. Fresh & delicious and the courteous staff makes this one of favorite places to eat

A great place. The best sushi I have ever had anywhere. They have a huge selection of sushi and prepare it in front of you. Very clean and neat. They have food for your lame friends that don't eat sushi.

The service and staff was fast and efficient. The food was very good tasted like it was made with good ingredients fresh ingredients amazing ingredients. The aesthetic appeal of the restaurant was warm and welcoming and is a good place to come with family and friends or even on a business meeting. You are given the option of a booth table or bar. I highly recommend visiting this establishment. The manager and possibly the owner was very friendly and is a good conversationalist and ensures that you are taken care of.

If you really know good food this place is a must.
definitely worth the drive to west jordan for me.
I recommend this place to friends and fam anytime.

I ve been coming to this place since it s opening. I ve brought many people here and they ve all loved it. This is my go to sushi place, and now that I live 2 hours outside salt lake, I make a mighty effort to come in.
I will always recommend the Jordan roll and some miso soup!

Wayyyy over priced. The rolls where decent but to basic for the price. After two rolls I decided to get an entre, which took half an hour. It tasted like something I could buy at a fast food resturaunt im not sure why it was on the menu. Im not sure why anyone would want two deep fried thin slices of meet for 15 dollars. Im so dissapointed I could have gotten double the food and better quality for half the price somewhere else.

The sushi is always good, the staff is attentive but not fake friendly like people in restaurants can sometimes be, the place is super clean, and when we placed our order, our waitress recommended a special that ended up getting us $15 off of our meal. I've never had a bad experience here.

I love everything on their menu.

I love everything on their menu.
The Calamari is so good I could eat it everyday and am not ashamed to admit there have been weeks where I was pretty close.

Not even one star would I want to give this place. I was standing there for more than 20 mins. The waiters would even look at me but would not help. I even when in the front to the cooks and they called a waiter told me to wait that she was going to talk to the cook about something. Had me wait some more until I had enough and walked out. If anyone has the owners number I would even like to talk to him personally this is really horrible service.

The food here is very good, at least from the sushi menu (I haven't tried anything else). The service is also decent, the staff are nice, ect. The only real complaint is that it is overpriced, but you could say that about any sushi restaurant.

All in all, I would recommend this place for a casual dinner out.

Decent food, service could be a bit more attentive, wasnt able to order a drink because after ordering water and only getting that refilled once I was ready to order an actual drink but after bringing the food she never returned to the table. Only to bring the check after having to ask another server twice about the check.

This sushi bar is an absolute home run! We had a large variety of rolls, and we were happy with every single one of them. Though our absolute top rolls were the Vegas roll and big surf. The prices are also very reasonable. Out of the 5 or 6 sushi places we have been to in salt lake, this is by far the best !

Sushi was awesome. Good but not great service. The chicken teriyaki salad had fresh cucumber, lovely, tender chicken, grape tomatoes, but the lettuce, from a boxed mix, had several fresh leaves on top, but several pieces underneath were slimy, black and disgusting. I spat it out into my napkin.Staff did not enquire as to why my salad was virtually untouched. Next time I'll stick with the chicken teriyaki rice bowl.

It amazes me how many sushi joints there are, and that most of them provide a mediocre flavor of a product that is desired so heavily. The sushi here was not bad, but it also was not good enough for me to think of returning. The service was good here but, sadly, the food is not a driving force for me to return.

Wonder why it never comes up on Yelp when searching for sushi places 'open' around lunch? Anyway, the service was excellent so attentive the whole time! Food came out in a timely manner, we were checked up on every 5 minutes or so. For sure will be back as this place is a no-frills type of establishment and perfect for when I am in rush!

Delicious sushi on the west side of the valley. I don t know of any sushi farther west that beats Sakana. I recommend the hotty, vegas, playboy, or spicy tuna rolls. Staff is nice and it gets busy around dinner time. You can also order on the phone during these troubling 2020 quarantine times. Wear your mask and socially distance!

I went to this restaurant for the very first time today. I went at 2:40. I was greeted by a surly hostess that snapped they were closed. Then before I could even leave the counter a chef came up and said, "Aren't we closed." This to me, was very rude!! I stated that they should at least have a sign posted if they were not going to be open at certain times. I don't know your hours of operation. If your door is open, you have customers, then I am going to assume you are open.

The rude chef then stated that they did have a sign. The said sign had fallen down and was not even visible!! He procedded to follow me out the door to say that most restaurants weren't even open until 4 pm. Not to mention the said sign was in the corner of a window that is not very visible. I did not even walk by and it had fallen down so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

If you want to be treated horribly as a customer I would recommend this restaurant. If I could give a negative star I would. This is unacceptable behavior!

What can I say??? This place is amazing.. amazing service, amazing food, amazing priced. My family and I have been going to Sakana since they opened up in Jordan landing. We don t go every week or even every month. I am a very picky eater and can happily say that I have never had a bad meal or service.. the place is clean and the staff is friendly. The owners are the best, they remember who we are, even when we go there separately. They always make a point to say hi and come to the table to see how we have been.. that to me is very important and I feel so special.

Chef's Nigiri special.. wow it is amazing. The original chef is the one that makes just a beautiful and delicious dish. I have had other things that have all been great but try the Nigiri special. Will not regret it.

Every time my husband and I want sushi, we always come here. Also because it's conveniently close to our neighborhood. But even if we moved away, I would long to come here. I do not eat sushi, just my husband. But I love the sakana steak dish and it's good every single time. The main thing I love though, is the side salad. The ginger dressing they make is my most favorite thing. I'll order take out from here every other month just to also get some salad and save the extra dressing I get for other salads. I know most sushi/Japanese restaurants have some sort of teriyaki steak rice bowl, but the other ones don't have anything special that stands out to me like this place.

The best sushi and service in Utah! Family owned and very well executed. Never have to wait, sushi is fresh every time. And our regular server Meehee is adorable and efficient! We love it.

The sushi rolls are very high quality. They have some different variations of rolls that are very good. It is a great place to go for a quick lunch. The lettuce wrap appetizers were very delicious as well!

The absolute best sushi in the Salt Lake Valley. We lived 10 minutes away from this place for 4 years. We recently moved and this is the number one thing we miss! Everytime we travel back we try to get our sakana fix. GO HERE. The sunset and play boy are my go to.

I have been to other places where the fish tasted fishy, which is a sign that it's been sitting for a while. But that has never happened to me at Sakana. My favorite roll is the Playboy, which is something that other sushi places have, but due to the ingredients being fresh and there being such a focus on making great rolls, it just comes out really good.

Very little selection on sushi choices and not willing to make a popular roll they have all the ingredients for which my favoriteplaces do. Low quality
Service. Not friendly. Small amount of food for what you pay.

vibrant atmosphere and fantastic food. I sat at the bar and had a great conversation with the owner which made dinner a lot of fun. Unbelievable skills.

I'm traveling through town, but I would probably eat here every week if I lived nearby

This place has the best sushi I've ever tasted (that said, I've pretty much hated sushi until I had this sushi so I am no sushi connoisseur). My husband really liked his sushi/nigiri as well (and he actually usually likes sushi). That said, my reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 was that we felt most of the other food was pretty bland (including the tempura and teriyaki chicken dish we ordered). It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. So my recommendation is that if you're in the mood for sushi that is affordable and delicious, this is the place for you. If you're just in the mood for Japanese and don't really want sushi, I'd go elsewhere.

Amazing! Always great staff and great food. We have been coming here for years and have never once been disappointed! Meehee is the absolute best! Price is great and the quality and taste are phenomenal!!

My husband and I moved to Utah 3 years ago from California. Since then we've been searching for a sushi place that is comparable to the caliper of sushi you find back home. We've been to at least eight, if not more, other sushi restaurants, and we were about to give up on the hope that we could find Utah sushi that was as good as some of our old joints we'd regular... until we found Sakana last night.

I disagree with some of the reviews I've read about it being pricey because we were used to paying an average of fifteen dollars a roll for great sushi in California. We could not believe that we got out of there for $75 after two beers, a large Saki, and four rolls.

This place is a must try for sushi lovers!

Loved it! Came with my roommate after seeing the rave reviews. The server was super nice and friendly and explained how things worked, and helped us order. The price was totally reasonable too. And the food wasDELICIOUS. I'd had Hawaiian/Poly food at weddings and other restaurants

The sushi was good, but the service was slow. It took a few minutes for anyone to talk to us, and it was not busy at all. I wouldn't go again unless it is for lunch or the Monday/Tuesday dinner special.

Was here on a busy Friday night and the service and food were on point, it felt like we hardly waited at all. My kids love this place as well so that's a plus, not many good restaurants on the west side that I know of that are kid friendly.
