Been coming here for years and never had a bad meal. This is not only one of my favorite sushi/Japanese restaurants but one of my top places in the valley. The Sakana steak is always bomb, also try the bacon wrapped BBQ tiger shrimp. Fantastic.

Great SUSHI! the reason I gave them 3 stars was because the wait time is ridiculous. I called 45 mins ago placed an order and the guy said it would be done in 30 mins. This always happens so plan on a long wait.

Very good. Qaulity was nice and appearance of dishes were nice. Bathroom and dining area are clean. I will be going back. The only reason for the four stars, is the server was not very concerned about our experience we could of had, almost like it was a bother we came in. Again, I am going to give them another shot.

Great service. Great food. The people making the sushi were amazing. The waitress I thought was a little rude. It was my first visit ever and when I ordered she was like rolling her eyes and annoyed that I didn't know how to order.

The sushi we got was really great, dragon roll and Vegas roll. The chicken was only ok and one of our pieces tasted like fish. The miso soup and salad were not very good at all, in fact, our salads had half an inch of dressing in the bottom of the bowl. The wait staff were very nice but seemed to be in a very big hurry to have us order and then be done.

I am sadly disappointed. For what we received, the very slow service (with many servers just standing around talking), we paid too much. It took 10 min to clear the table which had no dishes and just needed to be wiped down. Our meals were simple, only 2 sushi rolls, miso soup and grilled teriyaki chicken with veggies. It took most of the time sitting there to receive our food. Again, when we arrived, the place was not full at all.

Now the positives:
The Hawaiian Roll was delicious, a subtle fish flavor masked in the slightly sweet layering of the mango and mango sauce. A great dessert roll, I finished it quickly. For the more experienced sushi eaters, the Awesome Roll was a serious mind-bender, with each bite going deeper into the epicurian psyche, the blend a rollercoaster of spices, fish, and eel, while the sun dried tomato returns you to a balanced finish. All in a single bite.

Overall:
Despite the sushi being a good moment, it just wasn't enough to compensate for the lack of satisfactory service and, therefore, I shall not be returning.

This place is pretty average. I feel it's a little pricey for what it is. It's the same price as Tsunami, or Naked Fish, but it's just not up to par (down to par?). But it's not BAD and I don't want to make it seem that way. It's in an area with few competitors by way of sushi so we end up going. The service is always decent and you may want to check out the monkey brains appetizer and the tofu. I always opt for the fresh rolls anywhere I go, stay away from cream cheeses, mayo and tempura. What's the point of sushi if you're just gonna douse it in fattening garbage? Or do what you want, it's America. Marry your sister for all I care.

Loved the food and the service was great. We ordered a variety from the menu and enjoyed it all. We ordered sushi and also the salmon and steak entrees. I'd definitely recommend you try it for yourself.

Nevertheless the sushi does not disappoint. I try to come here on Fridays because that's when they get their fresh fish delivery. I love the Sakana roll and the Rainbow roll. The fish is always quality and has great taste, I'm picky on where I get my sushi and I trust this place. The prices aren't too bad either and they do have a Happy Hour which helps. The people here are always friendly and helpful.

Pretty decent sushi and the happy hour special made it a good deal. We tried their"Monkey Brain" appetizer special and that was pretty good but is a bit heavy on the wasabi, so take that as a warning or an encouragement depending on how you like wasabi.

This place is so amazing, I almost don't want to rate it to keep it to myself. The sushi is as fresh and tasty as it looks. When my friends and I say we are going for sushi, there isn't even a discussion of where, it's always assumed we are going to Sakana. This little diamond in the rough, tucked into a strip mall, is always worth the trip and the wait.

This is our new favorite Japanese restaurant. Everything down to the side salad was delicious! Seriously, a couple days later and I'm still dreaming about the gyoza (dumplings). If you get nothing else, I cannot stress this enough, get the dumplings! We also had the Caterpillar roll and chicken teriyaki entree, which were both beautiful and delicious. We will be back very soon!

Super super disappointed with this place. Somehow the shush I was dry? I don t even know how you do that. They were worried more about the aesthetic than the food. Our waitress was horrid. She was rude and short. My husband asked her which sushi was which when she brought it out and she wouldn t even look at us to answer. As if it s not already hard enough to understand people with a mask on.
Just find somewhere else to get your sushi.

There are a lot of sushi places in Salt Lake County, and the only real reason to come here is for the price and because it's got a great location. When I went here the sushi didn't taste very good, and the table we were at was very uncomfortable for the big guy that I am. My suggestion is to eat here if you're short on cash and time, but still really want sushi that's not grocery store sushi.

My husband and I love sushi, so we were excited to try out Sakana. We were not disappointed. Best Caterpillar roll of my life! We haven't found a roll yet that we don't like. We're so glad to have a great sushi place so close to our house!!

A+

Great sushi! I love that they have discounted lunch prices but still delicious sushi options. Our favorites were the Sunset roll (the lemon on it was incredible), the rainbow roll, the Vegas roll, and the playboy roll. My kids were so interested in the process of making a sushi roll that the staff let them sit up at the sushi bar to watch the guys make the rolls. The sushi guys even showed the kids the little baby octopus on a plate to get a reaction out of them They were very kind to curious kids. They also have a lot of kid friendly options like teriyaki chicken and noodles.

Terrific value for sushi on the west side of SLC

Terrific value for sushi on the west side of SLC

They do a great job here at Sakana providing that balance between quality and value. Not that the quality isn't there because it definitely is, they just excel at the value part of the equation.

Fridays and Saturdays are gonna be busy which is a testament to quality and the overall job the folks at Sakana do. The only reason I didn't give a 5th star was my disappointment with the service. Although they were busy, I felt we had to wait a little too long between rounds of sushi and in general attentiveness.

Great steak, I came here originally thinking that steak in a Japanese restaurant would be bad but this place proved me wrong! Sakana steak is awesome and so is the sushi! Sushi and agedashi tofu and extremely delicious!

This place is the best hidden secret in town better than any other one. The suishi is perfect and tonight we had our first entree oh my god the ribeye is better than Texas Roadhouse. Employees are always friendly and the management is awesome

This place is really good, the sea food tempura has actual sea food and isn't all vegetables, the sushi was good with lots of variety. In a great location with nice staff, I highly recommend this place!

I haven't been into Michael's in awhile. All prices on Holiday decorating items were inflated and then marked down to 50% off. Shelves are empty. Very disappointed in the service, selections and basically the whole store, that I used to spend hundreds at. Such a sad experience.

A group of us Came here for lunch. It took them 5 minutes to acknowledge that we were waiting to be seated. The waitress took our orders, which were items that were very simple. It was 40 mins before our food came out. The food was okay, but the service took way too long. The food was cold when we received it and the server didn't even apologize for the delay.

Great Sushi; mediocre Japanese cuisine. My wife and I both love sushi and Japanese cuisine. The sushi chef is obviously talented; everything tasted fresh and was impeccably presented.

The vegetable tempura is excellent. Very fresh and perfectly crisp.

The staff could use a bit of polish, but they are generally helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately the other Japanese dishes we tried looked average and tasted average. They were a bit greasy and slopped onto the plate. Yes for sushi, no for entree items.

The first several times were really good, but the last time, they gypped us. I was supposed to get 25% off our entire order, up to $8, but they only gave us 25% off one item which gave us about $2.50 off. The food wasn't as good, either.

I finally talked my husband into going here yesterday while we were in town, only to show up, and have them closed for lunch. It was absurd! We found another sushi restaurant that was open for business.

Worst customer service ever. Would not recommend to anyone. Manager does not care if my business was taken elsewhere and did not even acknowledge any issues with her employees. DO NOT EAT THERE!
