Hands down the absolute best chowder in Boston. I have visited Boston for the last two years in December, and Sail Loft is always my first stop for food. The customer service is fantastic, very family oriented, and the dill makes this chowder one of a kind. If you have the time to stop in, highly recommend you take the opportunity. You won't regret it!

WOW! The Fisherman's Platter was outstanding!! You taste the freshness of the seafood through the light, crunchy batter. Even the fries were crunchy, but creamy inside. Klaudia's speedy service was so appreciated before my flight!! Definitely, a repeat visit!!!

First time visiting. Server was very nice and attentive. Food came out quickly. I got the clam chowder and will say, I was expecting it to be much better...it needed more flavor and substance other than cream. The cajun sword fish sandwich and fish and chips on the other hand were amazing!! I'll be back.

Food and service leave something to be desired but that's not why people come to Sail Loft. As a bar, the Sail Loft is a great, low-key spot overlooking the water with some dancing and many oreos. Ask for 'trukquila' and you won't be disappointed.

6 stars. Oh man. Boston first time 5 years ago... looking for clam chowder. Asked a hotel concierge about Legal, and was recommended to Boston Sail Loft. Wish I could shake his hand, because that night I had the best clam chowder of my life. Fast forward to present, still the best clam chowder!! Repeated results. Plus good everything else. Service is great. I got a spot of butter on my white shirt, and Kailah our server offered club soda when I jokingly pointed out my boo boo. Great place. Always busy but never packed. See you next time we're in Boston!

Came here after a trip to Salem and the reviews were spot on. We had the clam chowder and it was delicious. In addition, we were seated quickly inside with a nice view of the boats. All staff members wore their masks and there are dividers between the tables. Will definitely be coming back :)

Delicious seafood right on the water. Great staff! I tried a syrah, which was smooth and Rich and matched perfectly with the Ceasar salad and lobster I ordered. We also ordered the clam chowder with dill. Fabulous! And the calamari. We order calamari whenever we can. Some are not good! These were great! If you get a chance, stop in!

Service was excellent, staff members were all very kinda especially one of the male staff members who helped my family and I tour around beautiful Boston! Their chowder is absolutely out of this world and I insist that everyone tries it! Better order bowls of it because it is so good AND affordable!

The food was delicious and large portions for a reasonable price. The lobster roll was heaping with fresh lobster. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to enjoy fresh seafood on the water in Boston!

IT BLEW ME AWAY.

I hate to try new things but I decided to try clam chowder for the first time. I'm glad I did because it was love at first bite. Wow, just wow. I live in Michigan and just thinking about how good it was makes me want to go back there tomorrow. DANG.

Best clam chowder in Boston!

Authentic restaurant right on the harbour - bar seats are first come first served and a small dining area available for reservation. We had a drink and chowder at the bar while we waited for our table (about 30 minutes). And then we had heaping plates of fried shrimp with chips and fish and chips.

Food was great but, be warned the chowder is very filling - we didn't even finish half of our plates because we were so stuffed from the chowder!

Great view and great vibe!

Comparing to other flashy places nearby, this place was so unassuming and low key. It provided just good food at a reasonable price.
We got good food when we last visit. From seafood pasta, to broiled sea scallops, to calamari salad, to whole lobster, they were good, much better than average.

Food came out quickly and the wait staff made sure we got what we needed promptly.

We will definitely go back here again when we are in town.

We stayed in a houseboat near the Boston Sail Loft during the 2018 Boston marathon. Outstanding restaurant with incredibly delicious chowder. Our waitress was wonderful (I believe she may be related to the owners) and spent a lot of time telling us where to go to watch the marathon, navigating Boston pro-tips, etc. Overall, fantastic place and experience.

Cute place to... Well. I can't say eat at, because the chowder was not it. Neither was the chilli. The chowder had so much dill in it, it made the chowder green. It was way too much dill. The chilli had more (oversized) beans than meat. The view is beautiful which is why I rated it 2 stars instead of 1.

The chowder is amazing and welp worth it of you're ever in the area. You're right next to the harbor and every time I come here it seems to be full of people enjoying their meals. Being right next to the harbor is a nice perk as well.

The food was terrible, beer even worse. The beer was warm, glasses dirty. Never trust a "restaurant" with dark grey smoke coming out of the chimney. The "restaurant" was also filled with this grey smoke.
Please don't go there.

The best seafood place in the US!

The best seafood place in the US!
Amazing service, super friendly and sincere staff, delicious food, relaxing atmosphere and clean space! Also add gorgeous Marina view

They serve alcohol and have a huge bar. On the menu: soups, lobsters, mussels, scallops, shrimps, calamari, clams, burgers, sandwiches, salsa, chips, nachos, chicken, salads, tacos.

Also ADD: KIDS MENU and DESERTS.

So! for our amazing dinner we had:

- Miraval Rose. Price - $14 per glass.

- Rum Punch (Mount Gay rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine and a float of dark rum). Price - $14

A clam chowder soup was one of the best I have ever tried to!!
On the menu it is - Sail Loft Cup and a Half. A cup of chowder and a half of tuna salad( you can choose chicken or turkey as well); served on light or dark rye, wheat, light oatmeal or french bread and french fries on a side. Price - $13.50

Also we had Steamed Mussels (Mussels steamed with white wine, garlic and parsley) for appetizer - $15.95

For entree - Single New England Lobster
A pound and a quarter lobster served with a bed of mussels. Price -$23.95

I like their prices and atmosphere all around!

There are 3 bathrooms: for ladies, guys and family.

They have all covid 19 prevent services as walls between tables, keeping social distance, wearing mask, using hand sanitizers.

Love you, guys! Will come again!!

Food absolutely yummy. Compared to other restaurants in the area portion size is bigger. Service was great. We are from Chicago and wanted some really good seafood we were not disappointed. Lobster Mac and Cheese was delicious. Lobster was huge, shrimp plate big lots of shrimp crunchy onion rings. You will not go wrong at the restaurant.

The waitress was kind of short with us and didn't take care of us at all. Forgot to bring my beer and didn't refill my water. Had to drink my girlfriend's water after mine since she ordered ice tea and didn't drink here's. Then she didn't refill that one either.
The food was good.
Ok price considering its seafood, but didn't have the variety of seafood I was expecting from a restaurant on the pier.

The lobster looked good. As a vegetarian, the options were sparse and not great. I had a feeling that our server was trying to get rid of us, as he lost enthusiasm after the first 10 minutes and kept on trying to take our food away mid-meal.
Views are good, but the place is very simple, nothing fancy. Wouldnt recommend it for a date, but maybe a casual dinner with friends.

Arrived late morning from Minnesota with a full load of luggage on one the the hottest days Boston had experienced in years! We had the cab drop us off at Columbus Park (only a block away) because we (myself, wife, daughter, and 5 year old granddaughter) had no place to go for 4 hours until we could get into our apartment. We were graciously welcomed in, luggage and all, and had a great first meal in Boston at such a traditional looking "seaport" restaurant/bar (what a great view!). I was even welcomed to stay with the luggage while the "ladies" went shopping. They returned after a short while due to the heat and we were again welcome to stay for another 1.5 hrs. until we could brave the heat and our 1/4 mile walk with our luggage. The owner and his daughter were so friendly, as was all the staff, and so understanding of our predicament. We did not know Minnesota nice also existed in Boston! My swordfish steak, by the way, was the best meal I had the entire trip! The owner said it had been caught and brought in just that morning! How is that for fresh! This is a tale I will be telling over and over again about our terrific trip. Oh, the prices are very reasonable compared to many of the other restaurants in the area!

This is my first visit to Boston. Ireally love this restaurant. Im from Texas and I didn't expect the customer service I received. Jaime was excellent and ex-military. He interacted well with myself and my children and the food was excellent.

Clam chowder is always delicious and it is the only clam chowder without bacon in the boston area. This time we tried something new; the blackened Halibut and the Seafood stir fry and I definitely recommend them both. I like taking all my visitors there so they can try the best authentic New England food.

We are visiting from NYC and we decided to go for dinner last night based on the recommendations from this site. It was a complete disappointment. Our inexperienced and rude server rushed us through the dinner, tried to remove our food several times before we were done eating and brought the check without us asking for it! I do not remember the last time we had this terrible experience.
