Attended a friends wedding, weather was kind and they had the ceremony in the lovely gardens. Highly recommended

Attended a friends wedding, weather was kind and they had the ceremony in the lovely gardens. Highly recommended
Had an absolutely great time. What a wonderful place. Everyone so helpful.
Enjoyed a lovely evening meal with friendly service.
very nice lodge, especially recommended for golf groups
We spent one great week. The staff is very nice and they were a great help to make our holiday very pleasant.
We stayed in the hotel rooms and also in one of their lodge. Everything is perfect, good quality at excellent price.
Beautiful place for afternoon tea. Great kids afternoon tea option too.
Having spent a wonderful three days at the hotel in September for my son's wedding, I returned in November with a friend for another three days. If you want excellent service, food and accommodation then Rufflets is the place to go. The hot water bottles in our beds when sheets turned down was a particularly nice touch and brought back happy memories of times gone by. All together a wonderful experience. A special thanks to Pip, front of house staff and manager for all your care and attention to detail; nothing was too much trouble.
Great hotel. Great and attentive staff. Always makes staying there so relaxing.
Rufflets is set in lovely grounds. We had nice weather for March so were able to have a walk and appreciate them. Hotel itself was very comfortable and clean. Staff were efficient and friendly. We ate in the restaurant and had a nice dinner, although found the restaurant to be quite dark. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and it was no problem to alter any of the cooked choices.
Not cheap, but worth every penny for the excellent food and outstanding service.
Excellent venue for your special day or event, staff very helpful and attentive. 5 stars folks.
It seems that little or no updating has been done to the rooms since the 1970s.
Fabulous get away from it all hotel. Excellent service, very attentive staff, nothing was to much bother. Will be back.
We love this hotel! Both times we ve stayed we ve enjoyed it very much indeed, and will be back.
When we were shown to our room it was such a special surprise to not only find Rufus, the teddy bear who resides in every bedroom, but also a 40th Anniversary card for us from Rufflets. What a lovely touch.
The room was very, very special, and very spacious. The turret room benefits from a raised seating area, and of course a delightful window overlooking the gardens. The bathroom was also vast, and so well kitted out, including all the usual toiletries, but extras like cotton buds, cotton wool, etc, etc. Rufus the teddy bear was in bed when we arrived, and the tin of the most incredibly delicious shortbread another Rufflets touch was there along with our coffee and tea making facilities. The room had two televisions one you could watch from bed, and another in the raised seating area, and there were even a pair of binoculars by the window. Wonderful touches which show why Rufflets has 4 stars.
On our last visit the hotel had been so cosy, and brimming with Christmas decorations as it had been December. This time, being mid-November we were a little early for the festive touches, but the hotel still had that wonderful snug atmosphere.
The lounge bar, where we had our aperitif before dinner, had been redecorated since our visit two years ago, and now has a great ambience, and feels very relaxed and cosy. We were the only people there for a while until a gentleman came in, just before we were heading to the restaurant dining room.
We then adjourned to another cosy lounge just off the reception for tea/coffee and liqueurs. The hotel wasn t busy and we initially had the room to ourselves before a young couple and grandparents of the girl joined us.
It was a Tuesday night, so that may have been the reason the hotel was relatively quiet, but no corners were cut, even though there were only about 15 of us staying, and the service was most excellent.
Next morning we awoke keen to look down on the garden, and it was immaculate as ever, even given November isn t the best time for a garden.
At breakfast we love the variety of extras on offer, as opposed to so many hotels where it is just Scottish/English breakfast. After fruit, yoghurt and muesli for me and cereal for my husband, l chose Scrambled Egg and Smoked Salmon, and he opted for the Eggs Benedict. If I have one complaint about our stay my scrambled eggs were sadly not at all hot.
After breakfast we enjoyed a lovely walk in the gardens before checking out.
This is a really special hotel, and most definitely worth a visit.
We stayed at one of the lodges in the garden. while it was unprepossessing outside , the interior was excellent., beautifully furnished, extremely well equipped. There was a nice little garden with lovely furniture. There was parking right at the door which made it so easy for carrying in luggage. We stayed three nights and would certainly return. Would HIGHLY recommend it.
Modern and easy access. Staff is very helpful. Bit over priced
Went for Afternoon Tea which was perfect. Lively location, gardens and very good staff
Lovely visit. Room excellent, spacious, warm , good little extras like bear and turndown. Hot water bottle excellent touch. Enjoyed our stay and hope to return.
A very enjoyable stay with friends, we will be back next year!
Fabulous. We attended a small function. The food was superb. Hot, well presented, service was slick.
I had heard that Sunday lunch is especially good. It was exctand we will definitely return.
Had lunch, really good food, nice table looking out to the garden.
The rooms were beautiful, spacious and well decorated. The service was very friendly. However, the food was of poor quality, especially given the prices. The children's menu was child unfriendly. And the service in the restaurant was slow. More
Great food for lunch but poor service. Very slow and disjointed.
Lovely afternoon tea. Beautiful gardens to have a wander round. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We found the place a little dated but probably more appealing for older crowd (we are in late 20s). Close to town. Fantastic breakfast.
Stayed here in Oct 2020 at the height of the second spike of Covid in Scotland. Despite the obvious limitations this put on our visit I can report that the hotel has adapted well to ensure I had a pleasant time. Room comfortable and clean, and staff courteous and cheerful. I did feel that the restaurant had limited it's dinner and breakfast menu a little too much, but can understand why. Hope I can return in less infectious times.
Was attending a wedding reception. Food great and a nice venue.
Great service, food and location. Highly recommended.
Nice place to come for an afternoon tea or dinner.. or stay over. Very near St Andrews.
Loved this place, graceful accommodation and very beautiful gardens.
Meal was very enjoyable. Staff were friendly and attentive. Service was slow to begin with. Location is perfect for St Andrews. Ample car park.
We recently held our wedding at Rufflets in June, and I can not put in to words how unbelievably happy I am with the service, the stay, the venue, the food... everything!!
Rufflets is a wonderful venue for a wedding, made even more perfect by the fantastic staff. No one can do enough for you and no request is too big or small. Our day went without and hitch- and not even the rain could dampen our spirits. From the delicious food, to the staff, to the beautiful decor- all of our guests had something lovely to say about Rufflets.
I just know that we will continue to be regular customers for years to come- and it will always be a very special place for us!
My wife and I had a two-night Winter Warmer break at Rufflets where we enjoyed every minute of our stay. All members of staff we encountered were helpful, friendly, courteous, polite and knowledgeable. During a quiet spell after dinner I had a discussion with Matthew about the merits of the hotel's wide range of single malt whiskies. Although I knew what I wanted, I was impressed by his deep knowledge of Scotland's national drink, and he offered suggestions about brands I might try the following evening.
The restaurant menu was varied and the food exceptionally good. Just as we found on a previous stay at Rufflets, service by staff was friendly, prompt and efficient.
Our room was large and comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, a table and two easy chairs. The hotel even has a bed turn-down service.
The bathroom was spacious, light and airy, and included a large walk-in shower and a separate deep bath.
If you decide to check out Rufflets, you will want to check in again and again.
Fantastic venue, very pleasant staff and excellent service
Another couple of enjoyable days at Rufflets.
Rooms and bear welcoming as ever and the food superb.
Staff helpful and down to earth.
we are looking forward to our nex visit
Most enjoyable stay at Rufflets. We particularly enjoyed the delicious food and
the individual attention in the dining room.Having enjoyed our meal and drinks around
the fire came the final touch of hot water bottle in the bed guarded by Rufus the bear .
We are looking forward to our return visit in near future.
Excellent as per usual. The wife and I love going here. The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly.
Came to Rufflets with my wife for a wedding and enjoyed it immensely. The venue was superb and the staff were extremely proficient and friendly throughout the day.
Lovely restaurant, not quite in St Andrews but not far outside. The general ambience is calm, unhurried and comfortable. The staff are friendly but unobtrusive, add to this the fact that the food was amazing.
This is not a cheap restaurant, it is a special occassion place and fully worth it.
There was a bit of confusion over whether this was the right place when we booked, well here is to confusion.
Great afternoon tea for our ruby wedding treat. Very friendly staff
We have booked our wedding at Rufflets but this was our first dining and stay within the hotel and it did not disappoint. Our room (No.36) was lovely, it was very well decorated and spacious with the comforts of modern fitted bathroom with bath and separate shower. Rufus the teddy and the homemade shortbread are the little touches that were very well received.
The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and extremely helpful. We are very much looking forward to our friends and family staying at the hotel over the next couple of months and for our wedding in 2017. I certainly would not hesitate in recommending Rufflets.
We just stayed here! What a lovely place! We went with our 2 kids and they had the perfect room for us, a family room (two rooms with a bath room in the middle) The gardens were spectacular we had breakfast in the terrace while my kids played in the garden and in the most beautiful swing. The service is incredible and very kind. I will also recommend you to make reservations for the afternoon Tea, they have and no kidding the best pastries. Here are some pictures of the beautiful garden and our afternoon Tea! Enjoy!
I booked Rufflets as a Christmas trip for my husband and the moment we stepped through the door we were impressed. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel is set in stunning grounds with a very welcoming lounge and bar. Our room was one of the Turret rooms and was just perfect. We would definitely go back.
Excellent. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good food and lovely room. This is our second short break here in the past couple of years and I am sure we will be back soon.
Beautiful venue. Attended a wedding reception. Friendly and helpful staff. . Evening buffet was delicious. Never been here before but would certainly go back.
Characterful property with fine gardens & matching ambience.
Beautiful building with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
Lovely afternoon tea. Beautiful setting and gardens.
Great experience. Lovely surroundings. Staff very efficient. Very good.
When here for a Christmas party night. Food was cold and not cooked . Only good thing was the DJs music
I was given a voucher as a present from my friend and what a lovely experience going there was, as soon as we arrived we were met by really friendly staff who made us feel very welcome, our afternoon tea was absolutely lovely with sandwiches, scones, lovely jam and gorgeous cakes all set in a beautiful drawing room overlooking the gardens, would definitely recommend and return thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
I recently treated my mum to an overnight stay at Rufflets with dinner included as part of an Itison deal. We were delighted with the whole experience and were treated like royalty throughout. The Hotel is charming and tastefully decorated and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the gardens prior to dinner.
I would happily recommend Rufflets to anyone wanting to be spoiled and we certainly were. Full marks for treating us like "full paying customers"!
Lunch with a friend
Great food, lovely staff
This is a family run hotel. We were upgraded to a turret room as it was a special occasion. We were not expecting this and it made our stay more special. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night. Food and service excellent. Breakfast was freshly made and there was a good selection on offer. Great location for sight seeing.
As always, Rufflets is a great venue. From the moment you walk in you know you are in a hotel steeped in quality. Customer focused and never complacent. I love Rufflets and is by far one of the best hotels in the area. It is not a faceless chain. It is what it is. Perfect.
This is an incredibly charming place from beginning to end. The setting is beautiful, the staff is professional and friendly, and the food is excellent. Would definitely stay there again
Was a funeral reception, the staff were very attentive, everything went smoothly
Food was great and room very comfortable. Loose floorboard outside room (23) and lots of guests (wedding) returning to rooms late made for a sleepless night through loud squeaky floorboard and rooms not overly soundproof. Ran out of economy vodka due to being used for wedding reception at expense of hotel guests. Great selection of gin though.
Good night stay, just not reaching the standards I was expecting.
Superb place in a gorgeous location. Loved the small rooms in the lobby area.
We were made to feel very welcome by all staff. Our room was very comfortable-as was the bed. Our dinner was well presented and the food of a very high standard. The gardens look lovely although the weather was a little against spending too long outdoors. The autumn colours were outstanding. Having fires on in the public rooms made us feel very at home.
Really nice surroundings and the staff were very good. Food was ok. Main course was ok, beef well cooked but whole thingcould have been warmer and roast potatoes seemed to have been ready for a while and kept sort of warm.
The setting and food was up to the usual high standard. We were disappointed in the room (23) as it was very small, no bath and limited leg room in the bed.
This is our third stay and we left slightly under awed primarily because of the accommodation. Otherwise another great experience.
Great hotel, with excellent, friendly staff in very comfortable surroundings. Our room was spot on and the food, both breakfast and dinner, of a very high standard. Definitely preferable to the bigger hotels in the area.
Bar lunch excellent.
I may consider staying at hotel on future visits. Staff very helpful
Charming hotel with a beautiful garden.
Excellent cleanliness, excellent hospitality and well-kept rooms.
The full Scottish breakfast is recommended
The hotel was amazing rooms were lovely, breakfast was delicious and outdoor scenery was beautiful. 10/10 recommend!
It's good, the staff were great with the kids. It's not too stiff in there, food was excellent.
Excellent food served by friendly and efficient staff in very comfortable surroundings. Not overpriced for this quality.
Yes, it is expensive but they say "you get what you pay for" and in this case, it is so true. Great service, from reception, to bar and everyone in between. Wonderful grounds, great apartments and super food. Everyone deserves a little luxury and Rufflets deliver it in spades.
Great hotel, kept very well with decor throughout, not a hotel that has a good looking entrance and let down when you get into the corridors. Beautiful gardens and again really well kept. Great breakfast and staff, would recommend. Also one of the only hotels I ve been in where they come in your room on the evening and turn down your quilt and close your blinds ready for bed! Little touches I guess.
Here for afternoon tea and to check the place out as our son is getting married here in October, it was beautiful, from the food to the service, everything was amazing, the young man who served us was polite and very helpful with the food allergy at our table. Definitely five star and we will be back before the wedding.
We had our wedding reception here and then stayed in the lodges for 7 days. The whole thing was just completely magical. You must visit Rufflets if you are in St Andrews, I can t rate them highly enough!
The whole time we stayed we felt like we were part of a large family. Nothing was too.much trouble and despite the restrictions brought about by Covid-19 the atmosphere was very relaxed and made our stay extremely enjoyable. Thanks to everyone of the staff they are all gems.
We had an excellent stay, the staff was very nice and the room very comfortable. The breakfast was splendid with the best "pain au raisin" I have ever had, and that says something as I am french! The only reason I will not give it a 5 stars rating is that we were with young children and we felt we could not eat in the hotel as the only place we could have taken them without feeling we were risking other diners experience was the music bar room which was not serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Otherwise, the whole experience was a delight!
Very enjoyable stay. We were especially impressed with the service, the comfort of the bed and the high standard of finish in the bathroom. The things that docked marks in my view were a fairly average and unimaginative breakfast and that the bedroom was a bit chilly. I would have expected homemade granola and bread and possibly some more interesting choices on the breakfast in this sort of establishment. Otherwise lovely hotel.
