Although I have no complaints about the cost of service, RP&L is a clear example of why monopolies are an awful thing. I had to go to the office to sign up for service at the house I just bought instead of doing it over the phone as with EVERY other utility. The wait was ridiculous. There were 6 people in front of me, and they had only one window open to serve everyone. I waited 45 minutes before I was able to see anyone, only to find out that I needed ID and signature from all adults living at the house, so I had to go home and get my girlfriend and bring her down. When we got back, there were another 6 or 7 people in front of us leading to another 45 minute wait. I only wish I had an option to get electric service from another company.

Its a necessity. Equal levels of good and bad experiences. Ultimately if you pay on time you are treated kindly. If you don't, you will have some of the worst experiences of your life.

Very rude, no information about outages online which forces you to call and have a rude person tell you "ya, we have a big outage, crews will have it on eventually". GREAT! Website does not work and hold times when you call are usually 15 minutes on a good day!

1200 dollar electric bill.How is that even possible ?How can my average monthly bill jump from 120 to 400 with no change in the house? Any.ideas ?

These people are the worse service I've ever had they are rude hateful and Jack you around so bad, I've never had a smooth change over with them, all others utilities no problem but these people suck! I hate this place and wish there was another.

Called them to report a power outage after normal office hours. The call only took 5 minutes and next thing I know (15 minutes later) a guy from RPL pulls up in front of the house. Crazy fast! Thanks RPL :)

Also, he knew exactly what was wrong and we have power again!

I wish there was another option. I hate that I have to use them because there is no one else.

Ran by crooks! Someone I know is having issues with employment due to covid and they have shut off their electric bc they couldn't make a payment on their bill that got behind. All this company cares about is money and not its customers. Very sad to cast someone in the dark during a global pandemic

Moved here last year and Prices are outrageous here, on top of that during the pandemic I got behind on my bill and was disconnected one time. I got my service connected the same day, and on my next monthly bill I now have to pay 600 dollar deposit for being disconnected. ?????? I have never heard of this in my life.
