Summary:

Summary:
Overall, this property is very nice. It is 30" to BKK, 20" to DMK IF no traffic-hahaha! Normal traffic is 1+hours to BKK and 40" to DMK. It is a GREAT river location: u can get around via water taxi and walking, and avoid the horrible street traffic. Buses, tuktuks, taxis and Grab are available if you must use a vehicle. Great service from ALL the hotel staff!

Using points to stay here is very reasonable. The cost of everything at the hotel is expensive, for Bangkok.

Bad...this is why 3 stars:
The main problem is the carpeting throughout the hotel. I went on several floors, and they all smell Musty/Moldy. The rooms are not as bad. Bangkok is hot and humid, with a VERY wet rainy season, with lots of flooding. I do not think carpeting is a good choice for flooring. Our room did not smell as bad as the floor hallways, probably because the rooms are kept colder, and air conditioned more regularly, than the public spaces.

The other problem we had is the internet randomly shuts down, but then restarts soon after. The signal strength and speed seemed acceptable.

The "tennis court" is not usable for tennis.

A minor complaint was our room was somewhat small.

Good:
Pretty much everything else. Service is great. There are several places to eat, inside the hotel, with good food, including a breakfast buffet... with BREAD PUDDING!!!... about $17USD. The public spaces are great overall. The lobby bar is very nice. There is an ATM and retail inside the hotel building. No ice chests on the floors...order from room service...no charge. The gym is pretty large and decent. The decor throughout the hotel is pretty great. The elevator situation is good.

We had a Double Queen, which was MUCH better than a Double Double. I do not think Double King is available...too bad! The room decor and furnishings are good. The bathrooms are big enough, and nice. We had one sink, a good amount of countertop space, and a tub/shower. There are a reasonable number of electrical outlets, including universal outlets. We had A GREAT view of the river. The is a small refrigerator, which you can use for your stuff. The TV is pretty big... We never turned it on, so don't know about channels.

There is a big rectangular pool, with lots of sun, lots of loungers and umbrellas, and restaurant/bar service. It is right on the river on floor one. It is great for lap swimming, and has a deep end.

The Garden Pool is brilliant. It is on the grounds of the old Portuguese Embassy, and includes a very shallow area, a water jets area, lots of trees, loungers, some double loungers, umbrellas, plants, birds, peacocks (3), dining area and a swim up bar. Bar food is available. Note: See attached photos/videos...

Boats:
The Sheraton boat stops at the hotel pier, the new IconSiam shopping/dining/hotel complex, and the Skytrain pier...no charge. The IconSiam boat stops next to the hotel, and plies the waters between the Sheraton and the IconSiam, and ???... no charge.

There are two ferry boats that go directly across the river, from a pier a few meters downriver from the Sheraton.

The path to Pier #3 is between the two Sheraton pools, on street level, next to the hotel You can catch one of the four?five? Colour Line boats here, including the hop on hop off Blue Line. Individual longtail boats can be arranged here. Chinatown is Pier 5. The Flower Market is between Piers 6 and 7. The Temple Of The Sun is Pier 8, on the other side of the river. The Royal Palace/Reclining Buddha is Pier 9.

Nearby:
Out the front door is the old Portuguese Ambassador's Residence. Up the street is 7/11, Thai restaurants, retail, the bus stop, laundries and massage places. RiverCity mall is next door. Chinatown is about a 20" walk downriver. Past Chinatown is a nice mixed-use old city area, then the Flower Market, more old city, then the above-mentioned Temple/Palace area. It is probably a 45" walk from the Sheraton to the Palace.

NOTE:
The Google software cropped my photos, and the videos were changed into photos...

Decent hotel, nice river view, good boat shuttle, clean room, fairly modern amenities, and good club lounge. Had some issues during my stay, like intermittent working WiFi, oddly greenish bath tub water, and a wake up call to the wrong room, but it was okay other than that. I must also mention that the duty manager and team were good to work with. I would probably stay here again.

Beautiful hotel and staff in brilliant location.

Beautiful hotel and staff in brilliant location.
Stunning views from room window of Chiao Phraya river. Would have loved to have stayed for longer.
However, unfortunately I felt unwell for the reminder of my stay in Thailand over the following week. I believe this could have been due to eating a little Thai sausage at breakfast on the morning of the 14th of February. I had the same kind of little sausage the morning before and enjoyed it but this one tasted a bit bitter and when I looked at it, it looked a bit raw. I did say to my partner, I hope it doesn't make me ill as I pushed it to one side. Yes, I was ill from that night on for over a week with diarrhoea. I had not eaten any street food and had noted that the little sausage at the hotel breakfast could only be to blame.
That said, I loved that hotel and would definitely return but would be more careful with what I eat and diet in the future.

We stayed at this hotel over New Year 2016/17 for 3 nights.

It was very comfortable and the breakfast each morning had a good selection, with freshly made eggs of your choice.

We had a good size room with great views of the river with comp wifi.

When taking a taxi, please ensure you get the hotel porter to flag one down for you, we walked out and a taxi man approached us - we ended up paying 3 times the amount we should have.

Overall a very pleasant hotel, lovely pool and great for a city break.

Easy boat ride to The Grand Palace too!

My favorite hotel in Bangkok and one of the most favorite in the world (and I travel professionally). Cleanliness, service, discretion. Own marina, beautiful views. I'm counting down to the next time.
