I visited Harlem due to me having to take care of some business in the area. After I was done, I decided to dine in at the Red Rooster restaurant. I ordered the Jerk Chicken which was served on a flour tortilla, topped with what I thought was pickled red onions and fried plantain chips. The jerk was not made to my liking, I thought jerk was suppose to have a little heat to eat, instead this was more on the sweet side, not really a fan. I also ordered the wings from the appetizer menu and the curry salmon to go. To be honest, the wings were the best thing out of every thing I ordered. The curry Salmon was priced kinda steep, but I don't mind paying for good food. When i got home and opened the takeout box and saw that teeny weeny piece of salmon that I paid close to or over $30.00 for, I flipped my wig, I even let off a few F$#@ bombs. If I was wearing a wig it would have blew clean off my head. Not to mention you get no sides with your orders, those are all separate. I left there paying over $100.00 in food for just myself and felt like I had a high priced happy meal at an upscale restaurant. Will I be going for another go round, NEVER.

Took mom here by her request for a celebration. No one at our table loved the food-- they made a special vegan pasta for me, which was nice of them, but it was very salty. The restaurant is definitely a scene-- it has really cool ambiance, a nice open kitchen, live music-- plus, an actor from an HBO show was at the next table-- but it was a little bit too loud and chaotic. If we had liked the food better, we wouldn't have minded the chaos as much, but based on our experience, I don't think we'd go back to the restaurant. I'd go back to the bar, though!

Amazing food! Had the Yardbird and shortribs and they were to die for! Wait was a little long, but there was some great live music to pass the time! Servers were professional and attentive to needs. Definitely check it out if you get a chance to! And if you can making a reservation definitely helps!

Great food but reservations definately recommended. We came to NY to visit Red Rooster so the 40 min wait for a table was not going to deter. We all had the signature fried yard bird and it was everything (and more) just as we saw on that Buzzfeed video. 4 and not 5 stars only because the music was way too loud to chat (granted we had the table just behind the DJ) and well once the food came we didn't need to do much talking!

Great food, vibe, and service!! Sooo after hanging out by our hotel in Times Square and basically not getting our fill of good food, We headed to Harlem to find a bit of culture and "real" food.. We were not dissapointed at all!! The shrimp and grits with a Creole twist was the taste I was yearning for.. Spicy chicken and waffles were my family's favorite.. The cornbread was "mom" made...I took four to go.. This is a must stop for any visit in New York. /Harlem.. It will be our first stop during our next visit to NYC.

Came here for a weekday lunch. Marcus' cornbread, with honey butter and tomato jam, is mind-blowing. I was eating alone and still making all kinds of faces over this cornbread. I want to come back to try the mini donuts!

Amazing dinner and a show! We we're downstairs at the speakeasy and got an absolutely fantastic show in an intimate setting over some of the best food in New York. It's an experimental take on classic Harlem dishes and definitely worth a try.

Jazz music was amazing....We have a very allergic eater with us and the waiter was not at all accommodating. We had high hopes for this place and ended up walking out. Maybe if we had a different waiter we would have had a better experience.

This place is great, my wife and I came here for dinner because of Buzzfeed's Worth It video. We ordered a side of corn bread and the hot honey yard bird, its served as half a chicken glazed with spicy honey with garlic mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. The corn bread was a game changer and the best I ever had. Let's not forget about the entree, the chicken was perfect from the white meat to the dark meat, not dry and overcooked. Make a reservation if you can because it can be really busy and you might end up waiting for a while for a seat. Luckily we came in early before the crowd started rolling in and were seated within 30 minutes.

Unfortunately disappointed. The quality of the dishes have varied greatly. Chicken and waffles had very small chicken legs, which was deep fried and served tough. The honey fried chicken was again very juicy and had a good size. Unfortunately, the prices for Harlem are very high.

Obnoxious service taking advantage of customers. Do not go to this tourist trap! They will make you wait for ages hoping you will stay at the bar. New Yorkers have plenty of better places to go.

This place has a great vibe. The wait will be long on the weekend. Fried chicken was great. Also get the shrimp and grits. I cleaned the plate. Another good choice would be the blackened Catfish.

The restaurant is trendy and the staff friendly. The food was okay. I went for the brunch menu I think I would have preferred the dinner menu. We tried the staple yard bird and cornbread. Pretty good. I will go back and try the burger. It looked amazing.

Really tasty chicken! Well seasoned but a little over cooked. Impressed by how quickly everything came out of the kitchen. Meatballs were ... interesting. Not bad, but interesting. Cornbread was amazing.

Service was acceptable for such a busy night.

The band! King Solomon! Wow.

Went to Red Rooster last week and was sadly disappointed in the food. My daughter ordered a caesar salad and got mesclin and parmagian cheese, with no dressing, I ordered the burger and got a preciously frozen burger the was soggy and overdone and we got an order of cheesy grits that was embelished with parm and maple syrup. Very disappointing. Won't be back

It was my first visit to Red Rooster. The ambience of this restaurant is very trendy. The crowd is very diverse ( age and race wise) This is very cool place ! I wish our waiter was friendlier.. We weren't offered any dessert. Once we finished eating our food the waiter brought us a receipt without asking us if wanted to order anything else.

Great place in Harlem for brunch, after a gospel mass (at the FCBC for example) on Sunday morning ...
Live jazz music that day, with great artists to spoil anything.
For brunch, I was delighted with their Rooster Slam and my half with their NY Cheddar & Kale Omelette.
Counting about 40 minutes waiting around 11:30 on Sunday morning, but frankly in the company of true jazzman and the love of his life it goes so fast!
Obviously, I recommend this place if you go to the area ...

This place is fantastic! My husband and I went with a friend visiting from Florida, and we were so impressed by everything about Red Rooster.

We arrived a little early for our reservation, so we headed to the swanky bar for drinks. The bartender was amazing all the drink options were unique and perfect for the atmosphere. Upbeat soul music played in the background, and all types of people gathered around the bar. It was such a fun environment, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

After we were seated, the best part happened: the food. Oh my goodness. I ordered the yard bird, which was a deep fried chicken that blew my mind. So so good. For dessert, we had the sweet potato doughnuts. You must order those!!

One caveat this place is always hopping, so make sure to get a reservation. Oh, and it's pretty pricey, so be prepared for that.
