A phenomenally good restaurant! The Prix Fixe menu is God-like. Jerk Shortrib was very soft and the service was incredibly friendly. An absolute insider tip.

Exceptional evening! Beautiful place, incredible music, dishes and cocktails on top! We meet very nice people with eclectic profiles.
There are few places I loved so much in New York.
The food I found above average but not great. I experienced the Obama short ribs. My wife enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Service was good and accommodating. The atmosphere was great - lively and of course soulful.
Let me start by saying the atmosphere is inviting, the entertainment was enjoyable, the bathrooms were clean, the crowd lively and diverse and the drinks were on point.
That's where it ends for me. The service was subpar and the food was overpriced, cold and tasteless. The bright spot of the evening was the attention paid by the manager to my complains and his efforts to make amends and compensation. Marcus Samuelson you need to do better.
My advice, dine down the street at Sylvia's and come to the Red Rooster for drinks and entertainment.
Very nice!
So authentic and delicious.
One of my favorite spots for Brunch, Lunch or After work!
The food was ok, the ambiance was great. I love the industrial look with all of the photos around the restaurant.
The chicken and waffle appetizer was the right amount of spicy and the waffle was neither too dry nor moist but the portion was a bit small to share.
The main course was ok. The Obama short rib had huge chunks of fat and less beef, the pieces of beef I had were decent. The lobster pieces were small and not very flavorful. The biscuit was very dry and even with the glaze it was still tough to finish.
My date had Shrimp and Grits, she seemed to enjoy it. I only tried a shrimp and it did taste good
Would consider going again but not if I am paying, overpriced and underwhelming. Will consider another entree and appetizer should I return. Will update review if I do.
The food at Red Rooster is really great. One of the best chicken places I ve been to in NYC for sure. It s not the cheapest place in the world, but the portions are huge and worth it. The vibe is also pretty brilliant, everyone that goes there is out to have a good time and it s contagious. Be warned it is very loud so I wouldn t recommend for a romantic date out, but for any other occasion it s a great choice and you won t be disappointed.
Blackened catfish and succotash, dish with a side of Mac n greens, what a treat to the pallet. The mix of spices and veggies are explosion you don't expect. The staff was helpful, encouraged you to drink in the eclectic atmosphere. Next time we are in NY it's on the To Do List
Delicious food! Staff was very nice and pleasant! Loved my visit there!
This place took me back in time. It felt like eating in Grandma's kitchen. The food is worth the price and the atmosphere was great. Thanks for the great food and service.
Amazing place to visit in NYC, an authentic American restaurant serving delicious Southern Soul food with a pumping atmosphere. Best meal we had in NYC. A sure place to visit when you are in NYC, you won't be disappointed.
The owner's a prick, but the food is good. Try the brunch during the live jazz band. That's always a good time. Swing by here at night because you never know who might show up for a drink. Last time i was there i saw Amare Stoudemire.
Everything we were hoping it would be. Then we went to the club downstairs for a full grown folks evening
Great ambiance backed up with amazing food and a great selection of cocktail which will want to make you stay.
Holy cow... or should I say chicken. This place has the game locked down on poultry. We had a full course tasting comprised of multiple appetizers, a delectable main course and a sweet dessert. The first thing you should know about Red Rooster is that the servings are huge!! After getting halfway through my appetizer, I was already feeling full. Luckily there was enough food to take home as leftovers for the next day. One of the highlights from the Red Rooster was the Chicken and Waffles, a full thick waffle served with a succulent piece of white meat chicken. All in all a wonderful culinary experience for the senses
What can I say: So far I have enjoyed my best fried chicken here. Super crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Delicious. The same applies to the side dishes. Also the cupcake was terrific and no 08/15 industrial goods. The soup (appetizer) would have a bit more salt and pepper. But otherwise: PERFECT!
The atmosphere was cool, the bar area was loud but the dining room was not overwhelmingly so. We had the corn bread, full fried chicken with Mac&cheese and biscuits as well as the Brussel sprouts and crab cakes.
The crab braces were small but delicious, the corn bread was great, the Mac and cheese was probably the best I've ever had and the fried chicken was the also possibly the best I've ever had, and I've had tons of fried chicken (ate it on a weekly basis living in Seoul for 3 years). Albeit I'm from Minnesota so there is probably a lot of great chicken out there I'm yet to taste. The only disappointment was the biscuits, which were dry and didn't come with honey or butter to moisten them up. For 3 people we had too much food and had leftovers to take back. Overall it was great.
Great food. Neighborhood gem. Lovely staff. I love the outdoor seating!
This is a very good southern food place. Ive only been here once but it seems like the kinda place that is busy all day every. The food is good and well made just not what I prefer. I really loved the decour of the place. Lots of black icons that make the place very cool and interesting.
Hot place
Nice shows
The best atmosphere
I am on a workation (working and on vacation ) from Mississippi. I did some searching and came across this jewel. Food, entertainment and bartender all grand.. If you are looking for something to do in NY, this is definitely the spot to be.
Marcus Samuelsson is a true cultural treasure, and the food is good, too.
Mondays are the best. Love the music the vibe is chill
The bartender Foxxy was AMAZING! She went over and beyond to make sure we was taking care!
Everything but the service was afoul. It was a tourist set up for a large group. Not fair
This place was great, atmosphere was awesome and the food
The staff was very cordial and accommodating. The Chicken and Waffle was just a half of a Belgium waffle and a small drumstick not even the thigh attached, spoke to manager.
The food, service and atmosphere was a 10 out of 10.
Not what we hoped or expected. No consistency with food preparation, food presentation not good, would not recommend for a special occasion
So delicious and cool! But you have to wait for an hour on weekends.
I love red rooster in Melbourne and this is even better
I LOVE MUCH GOOD MUSIC EXCELLENT ATTENTION AND DELICIOUS FOOD
Superb contemporary and classic American food. Lovely decor, great staff and excellent music. I came early and was lucky to get a spot on the bar, but best to book as it s usually super busy.
Should food Deliciousness! Make sure you ask what seating is available. The inside seating may be full, but the bar and outside may have availability.
Too expensive for a small amount of food and the service sucked big time.
My mom and I had the Seafood jambalaya for two. It was enough for 4. Love the atmosphere. Will definitely be back
I absolutely loved this place. The vibe, it was an accepting one, an overwhelming feeling of pride in African Culture. A feeling of brotherhood!! The food was absolutely amazing, we were going to order a yardbird but ended up getting the whole chicken!! Thank you so much for this amazing experience!!
Good ol' fried chicken and' greens! I love the food because it's fresh, delicious and just like home made. Comfort food with cool jazzy sounds, diverse and interesting crowd and on certain nites you can get down with DJ sounds.
Horrible serivice from start to end.. Canceled order and went accross the street to Corner Social. Notingerested in trying the food. Opportunity for coaching.
This place is always incredible. The fried chicken in any dish is amazing. Great cocktails and atmosphere as well. We've been to almost every restaurant in Harlem and nothing is even close. Plus, my wife and daughter met Marcus on the way out and he was as kind as could be!
Yupscale Southern classics in a smartly designed room with moderate acoustics. The crab fritters were packed with sweet crab meat held in form by a perfectly round fried 'shell' of breading, but the star of the meal for me were the addictive fried green tomatoes, best I've tasted in the North so far. I liked my fried chicken just fine, but I enjoyed my companion's catfish over grits even more. Service was friendly and efficient but if you're expecting a bargain, maybe look elsewhere, the place isn't cheap. They were setting up for live music just as we were leaving, so I'd love to go back for that.
Love the live band....jazz/old r&b feel...grown and sexy type feel
Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff, and some of the most delicious food I've eaten in a long time. Highly recommend.
Great vibes, food, music, & ppl!!! Will come back again
Great food... Great atmosphere... Amazing experience #shrimpandgritsarethebest
Great staff and food it pretty good. The atmosphere is awesome. Different events during curtain days/night. A must do on a Monday night!
Love the shrimp and grits dish I had. Will return to try another.
We went to make a "brunch" on a Sunday morning and what was our surprise to find a show of what seemed jazz-soul -... local people, very cool. The super friendly and smiling waitresses, without a doubt if you stay in harlem you have to get close to this place!
We Had Food there recently it's a very nice Restaurant again one of the premier Harlem Food Establishments amazing Staff very friendly and nice.
Terrible live music absolute too loud! Overprized for such quality, only good thing is fast service
Our server Wilson was awesome...chicken and waffles compliments of the chef... Atmosphere is on point lots of sexy people... Good drinks and good food ...Marcus Samuelson is da bomb
I was not impressed. My husband and I showed up for lunch. I ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and greens. The potatoes were okay but the chicken was not good at all. It was very hard. It was not juicy and moist. Too hard to bite into. I saw this restaurant on a TV show and decided to make my way there next time I was in NY. I will not return. I ordered a soda and it was flat. I asked for something different and again that one was flat. I could make better chicken than this. I will not bother to go back.
The hot honey yardbird will change your life. It is incredibly juicy, tender, the skin is so crispy and delicious, even after being sauced with whatever magic that is that is in the sauce. Incredible, and a awesomely fun atmosphere at night when the bar is bumpin
Let me start off by saying that the Ambiance was very interesting and pleasant. The outdoor seating was vibrant and quaint. However, as I approached the entrance I was met with very loud music. It made it difficult to check in with the hostess. It was extremely crowded but not unbearable as the crowd was a nice mix of professionals, hip millenials and tourist like myself. I love the eclectic interior artwork. Now as for the food , i ordered the fried honey yard chicken and I can honestly say it was the best fried chicken I have ever had. The flavor and moisture of the chicken was unbelievable. The side mash potatoes and dirty gravy complimented the chicken well. One member of my party hat the lamb and said it was absolutely delicious. The other person had shrimp and grits. THey loved the flavor of the shrimp but not so much the grits. Overall our meal was a hit. I will be back next time I'm in NYC.
Ginny's downstairs has a great gospel show for Sunday brunch, but the food is terrible!
I enjoyed the vibes and the people it's a good look
We attended the Harlem Youth Gospel Choir Sunday Brunch. The food and entertainment was amazing...there wasn't a dry eye in the room! That said, the only negative is that when you leave, you are asked to purchase a music CD for $25US cash to "support the kids". We each bought one thinking that it was a CD filled with some of the music we heard from the choir. We got it home and played it and it was only 1 song...from a single singer! This left a sour taste in our mouth with respect to our experience.
Fried chicken and waffle are super, bloody Mary tasted terrible this time. Server not very attentive.
It was poor experience from start to finish. Upon being seated outside, my party and I asked for the umbrella to be shared between us and the neighboring table, just as they are arranged throughout the outside the area. Our waiter replied that moving the table would place our neighbors in the sun, with no care that we were baking in the sun. In the hour and a half that we were seated, the waiter stopped by our table a total of 4 times. I was honestly let down by the French toast. I loved the playlist!
Really good food and the prices where not bad. Met Marcus and took a picture with him, seems like a nice guy.
Food was fantastic. Music was way too loud though and service was rushed, even when I asked them to slow it down. Giving it four stars for the food, but don't think I would go again.
Lovely place Super Food and Wonderful people We will come back to Harlem because we love Harlem and its people !!!
The bartender made amazing drinks for our friend's birthday. Great energy, fun people. Always a good time.
Spot was jumpin. Great vibes, great art, great people. : )
Overpriced and overrated. Food was mediocre. Drinks were good. Had better chicken wings from Korean places.. better rice from the halal truck on the street. We had a nice server but they put us in a made up table in the hallway.
Waited way to long to get one drink. I was ready to leave.
Unique, great service, nice ambiance and amazing food!
The atmosphere is loud but obnoxious and the food is pretty amazing. You must have the crabcakes. I will definitely be going back.
Good food, a little noisy but makes the place lively
They charged 30dollars for what no famous celebrity was there drinks was pretty good tho
Service was amazing, food was superb, ambiance is fantastic! Make a reservation before visiting because it gets pretty busy.
