Manager of the store Deborah on lyell ave was very rude and unprofessional. I will not be going back to this store after the experience I had yesterday with her. I made an appointment for contact/eyeglass exam showed up for my appointment was told my insurance covered the eyeglass exam but I would have to pay $49 for the contact exam when arriving, I acknowledged this and sat down to wait to see the doctor. After being done with my exam and picking out new glasses I go to check out the clerk (who was very nice) said I had a past due balance of $60 from 2015 that my insurance didn t cover for some reason. I was confused wasn t aware that I owed anything my insurance had been the same for years not sure why it wasn t covered. I explained I wasn t prepared to pay the $49+$60 so the clerk went to speak with the manager came back and said that I could pay the $49 today for my exam but I couldn t order any contacts till the past due balance of $60 was paid... so I agreed and paid the $49 then I get thinking and I m confused again cause now I have a script for contacts I can t use. I ask to speak to the manager directly. She came before even saying anything I could tell she was already not in a friendly mood. I said I don t understand how it makes sense that now I have a script for contacts I m not allowed to use the scripts were in front of me on the counter and she snatched them and said nope you don t these aren t urs I said yes they are I just paid for the visit she goes on to explain to me that I didn t what I paid was applied to my past due balance. (Which was not at all what I was told) I said to the clerk didn t we just discuss that I would pay the $49 and had to pay the $60 before I order contacts and she agree that s what we said. The manager very rudely says well she misunderstood me that s not what i said. I said well then you should ve came out to handle this with me in person just like I should ve been told from the beginning that I owed this money so I would have been prepared to pay it. Now I came here for nothing besides wasting my time. She proceeeded to tell me that I should ve known I owed this money the sent me a bill back in 2016!! She then voided my exam charge refused to give me my scripts. I feel this situation was handled completely unprofessionally. At some point BEFORE my exam I should ve been told that I needed to pay this amount. I explained I would do what I could from my end with my insurance. I just felt and feel like she treated me like a criminal trying to get the business for $60 that wasnt my intention at all. The dumbest part of it all I got a free eye exam cause she couldn t charge me for it which is $49 (the charge she voided). I ve been a customer with them since 2009 never any issues! I will not go back here I ve never been so disrespected!

bad service, unprofessional, expensive price. doctor is all right. They try to sale you expensive lens and frame which I really do not need. people work there are not nice at all. I heard their boss is very nice guy. It seems his business is not nice. Business maybe always like this, money first, hard sale , maybe they do not think this is hard sale. They think they just sale what you need.

Should really have the hours online match what it states on your door. So people don't waste a trip into the city for nothing. I also tried calling before coming and got an answering machine. Not cool.

They used to be Good but they are not any more I used to get my glasses there all the time but this last time I had nothing but trouble my nose pad broke off the frame so I took them in to get one put back on and they said I would have to leave them for a couple of days I can't see with out them and they also blamed me because I didn't get another pair as a back up I got what I could afford the manager took them in the back to try and fix them so I could wear them what she did was bend the other nose so bad I couldn't wear them anyway I could have done that myself it's a wonder that one didn t break so I will never go back there again

Rochester Optical has surpassed my expectations. The staff is very helpful and professional every time I stop in. I came here about a few months ago for the first time. I had my eye exam and Dan helped me get setup with the two pairs of glasses that I liked. I was so impressed with the service that I decided to stop in again for sunglasses. At today s visit, I was excited to find out there was a sale on prescription sunglasses. Candice and Dan were both very patient with me as I tried on almost every pair of sunglasses in the store. They were even helpful in picking the winning pair from my top few favorites. When it came time to talk about lenses, Dan was knowledgeable about explaining the choices to me. I really appreciated that he laid out all my options for me without being pushy . He was happy to answer any of my questions on the different options and made me feel confident in my choices. I am so glad I made the switch to Rochester Optical! I will definitely continue to give them my business.

I have had alot of problems with my progressive lenses, the staff tried to help but to no avail they still are not working for me. My old glasses never gave me such problems. I went to the Meijers where the vision center was and found it closed permanently. Now what do I do? Why did you close ALL the stores in Meijers. Where do I go to get my glasses corrected?

People have some unrealistic expectations. I read these reviews before going and then decided to just try it out because it's convenient and right by my work. The staff are knowledgeable and were very nice. I did have a problem with my prescription but it was my former doctors fault and I have a really really high prescription, which my other place had a problem filling every time I went. They were really nice about it and helped me get a new prescription and had good prices compared to other shops in the area. The turn around time for my glasses was pretty quick and I am happy with them. I will definitely go back and bring my kids. Overall: Competent, good options for frames and lenses and nice people.

i'm locked into davis vision and i have limited options , so
when my ear piece spring let go i went to vision works
they told me i would have to buy a whole frame ,
i knew they could help me but refused ,
so i came here , at ROCHESTER OPTICAL,
the optician went back to his bone pile and
gave me two new ear / sides , they were not the n
same as the rest of the glasses but he did a great
job in matching what he had to my frame,

and because i had a good attitude and was satisfied
with his work , he crinkled up the bill and said
"have a nice day"
