Robar Guns Review

I had an old Browning Hi-Power that I cherished and wanted to have it re-worked, and I chose Robar.
I sent a Bar-Sto barrel that I had purchased previously that needed to be trimmed, crowned and fitted. The finish on the pistol was 30 years old and showed it's age from use.
The handgun was refinished and the internals were coated with NP3 per the GM's suggestion, and he was right in his assessment.
This Hi-Power is a work of art and I could not have been happier with the finished product.
If there are issues with timelines from Robar, you must understand that quality in craftsmanship take time, and it speaks volumes that they have a wait time for gunsmithing and refinishing.... is because those of us that work with and rely on guns to be perfect and perform on demand, rely on Robar.

Just today I got my Beretta 86 back from Robar Guns...I'll let the picture speak for itself. pistol...4 mags...ALL electroless nickeled. INCREDIBLY happy with results.

I must say that I never knew that a Glock could be made to perform even better! I am so impressed that I have sent you my Glock 19 and Glock 23 to be worked as well. Thank you for the outstanding job done on my Glock 30S and Glock 36. The 19 and 23 are on their way to Robar.

Not professional, took them 4 weeks over expected time. Easyy cleaning and finish on bolt. Never again.!

A couple of months ago I sent an old Iver Johnson .32 caliber revolver. At some point in the past the little revolver was Nickle plated. The plating was in terrible condition and much of it had flaked off. I requested the NP3 coating. The fine folks at ROBAR removed the remaining Nickle plating and applied their NP3 coating. When the Iver Johnson returned I was very pleased with the outcome. Every component had been meticulously stripped of the plating, cleaned and coated with NP3. The little revolver looks like the finish came from the Iver Johnson factory.

I plan to send ROBAR my Glock 19 for their grip reduction and stippling. I highly recommend ROBAR for any custom work you might need. By the way their PolymAR-15 rifles are outstanding.

We ve had a chance to use this NP-3 treated 22 several times now. Just participated in the state Pistol competition in Casa Grande yesterday with it. We love it.

It s real smooth haven t had a single misfire or jam yet. Rimfire is kind of touchy that way, but the magazines feed so smoothly, everything helps.

I really like the way it cleans up. Between the 1-button take down and the NP3, it basically wipes clean. Just takes a few minutes. That is awesome.

Bill Perkins, who ran the competition, saw the mags on the table. So he says, What are those? Stainless? He picks one up and feels it; No! They re way cooler than stainless they re NP-3. Feel this! He hands it to a coach. I told him you treated them. Anyway, he was impressed.

I find that older review extremely strange. I have had dozens of my bolt groups and parts NP3ed over the past 15 years. I literally don't own a gun that doesn't have MP3ed internals. It is a great surface and once you clean an NP3 bolt, you'll be hooked.

They have been nothing but professional. I am not saying perfect, but they have always come in at the prices quoted and within a week of the time they promised upon the order.

My parts have always been returned to me flawless and with no marks.

There gunsmith are fast, always present, and yes they even do walk in work.

I have brought in some exotic weapons and they always know they system and seem to disassemble and reassemble after coatings with no issues.

I have had a rifle painted by them and it came out as nice as paint will allow, IMHO.
I do wish they did more exotic patterns, but i'll take a real gunsmith over a painter anyday.

ROBAR has build me rifles, pistols and shotguns and I couldn't be happier with the quality. The fit, form and function far surpass other "gun builders" I have used in the past. Their quality finishes are also on point- nobody touched my guns but ROBAR.

I have 4 or 5 firearms that were done up buy the crew at RoBar. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Corrosion resistance, integral lubricity, surface hardening and better aesthetic appeal make their product hard to argue with.

Their product is great, their customer service is even better. It's a pleasure dealing with Freddie Blish over there. I sent a couple gun parts out to get finished and forgot to include a note about which finish they were getting. Freddie opened the package and gave me a phone call right away to clear up the issue.

Great product + Great service = A+++

I ve had a lot of things repaired over the years and have found a lot of hacks worked on my prize possessions. Most recently a carbine camo and the handguard was left misaligned and the barrel nut was only hand tight, I was lucyk bad things didn t happen when I fired it. Lots of examples of pretty shoddy workmanship.

This XD is the second Robar has done and the workmanship is outstanding, down to the pins being replaced evenly in the frame. A small attention to detail but the difference between people who take pride in what they do and those who get by. This gun was brand new and never fired, it looks better than it did in the box when I bought it.

I've employed many people, always tried to hire the best but that was always an elusive target. I wanted to take the time to tell you I have 100% confidence in Robar and think the work is OUTSTANDING and at a fair price. Thanks Freddie, I m sure I ll being doing more business with Robar soon. I have freakishly huge hands, and spent hours trying to find a gunsmith that would do custom grip work on my pistol. These guys talked me through the best options, explained the process, and communicated really well while my firearm was in their care. They really went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with their service.

I just got it back, and it is perfect! The polymer work is spot on, texturing feels great, and they really built it up to exactly what I was hoping for. Can't wait to get out on the range and finally grip a gun without feeling like a giant with a child's gun in my hands. Thanks Robar!

Excellent, American, stand behind your product, customer service. I can't say enough good about this company and its representatives. They always keep their promises and are right there whenever I have a question or need advice. Plus, my gun shoots frickin awesome groups!

Avoid this company if you want satisfactory work!
I have sent 4 firearms in for enhancements, or so I thought.
One bolt Action was refinished, they have imperfections in the coating, found a small spot on the barrel that is missing finish.
Another rifle an AR wouldn't even function properly upon arrival after being coated, had to it send back for warranty work and additional test firing!
One handgun I sent in came back with a unbelievable amount of slide to frame wobble. They did not properly install the ambidextrous safety causing premature finish wear from standard operation of the safety, it rubs the frame removing finish! In addition this company keep all old parts they swap off and do not tell you that in advance. If they swap sights, safeties, triggers, they keep all of your parts!!!!!!!!!!! Completely unsatisfactory on all levels.
Oh, out of the 4 guns, I will say 1 handgun was nice, No issues at all, unfortunately I have sold that one for other reasons, but kept the other ones because of so many issues.

My review is about customer service, and not the quality of the products or finishing services they provide:
I have been a Police Officer for almost 3 decades and have numerous guns worked on by this company.

I dropped off a barell that was previously finished by Robar in silver. My department has now changed regulation so I needed it changed back to black again.

I dropped it off and was quoted $40 for the strip and refinish work. When I picked thr barrel up I was told the fee was $66. I explained I was quoted $40 and in fact they had the handwritted quote in front of them. The person advised he would take it up with the manager. He came back and stated this was just an estimate and that he would take off $6 and it would only be $60.

I am also a business owner and I requested to speak to the manager. The manager came out and explained I was misquoted and the cost was $60.

Let me be clear. This is not about $20. I waste more daily on things I dont need or cant remember buying. As a public servent and a business owner they misquoted me. To have the company represented by personal who care more about a minor amount of money vs treating a customer correct to me is wrong. When I explained this to the manager, he said that if I stop my business with them over $20 I would be wrong.

There are other choices out there, and although I have done business with this company for over 15 years, it will cease as of today. This includes any recommendationa when people ask me where my grip was reduced and who finished my gun.

I cant imagine that if Robbie Barkman still owns this company, this is the way he wants return customers in the law enforcment community treated.

A very good friend sent in a bolt to have coated to Robar. They met the time they provided and did a quality job of applying the coating. What they did not do so well is correctly installing the original parts back into the bolt assembly. After he received his bolt back he drove to the range to be met with a non functioning rifle. Due to the incorrect extractor spring being installed which would not allow the extractor to ride over the cartridge as it should because the extractor was unable to compress the spring anymore since it was already fully compressed (to long of a spring). Luckily it was a simple fix for me to address. But this rifle has been an ongoing project for the last year and has been constantly met with issues and flaws in workmanship and attention to detail. Robar only had the bolt but it's incorrect reassembly was another jab at already disheartening situation. I doubt this is a common issue with Robar but I want them to be made aware of a simple mistake that should not have been made and if it had it should have been relayed to the customer of what happened. This particular rifle is not easy to find replacement parts for andis just adding to the failed expectations he has had with his first custom rifle build.

These people are very personable and professional. Just picked up my Phoenix trinity 2011and it looks absolutely perfect. Completed the project ahead of schedule and within the quote. I will be sending more items in for the np3 process. Very knowledgeable people that obviously take pride in their work. A true pleasure to deal with.

I recently had them do fairly extensive work on a couple of Glock 19s. The work included a full grip reduction, finishing of the slides (one Roguard and one Poly-T2), NP3 Plus plating of internal parts, hand-fit barrels and night-sights. The work was beautifully performed and the guns perform flawlessly. While it took a while, first rate work does.

I'm also very impressed by how well thought out and executed the ROBAR grip reduction on the Glock is.I have small hands; and while I can manage a stock Glock 19, the ROBAR modification is a huge improvement.

I would not hesitate to recommend ROBAR.

Great product but not at all punctual nor a concern of getting the job done correctly if you're very clear and lucky you will only have to send whatever you're sending to them back twice. apparently they lose track of products parts and firearms regularly so they'll deface them by scribing numbers and other identifying marks on them. what I'm trying to say is be very understanding be very clear and have a lot of patience then and only then will you be happy. O and be sure to tell them you don't want them to scribe/scratch any identifying marks on your product or weapon.

I recently had the chance to have Robar work on my S&W 39-2. This was a well worn gun, holster wear and scratches all over. Once the folks at Robar were finished I had a new weapon, twice as nice as before sending it to Robar. Their work is well above industry standards and would recommend anyone who has an old shooter that needs some cleaning up there is no place better than Robar.

I just received my S&W 659 model back from getting the NP3 plus coating and it looks amazing!!!! I can t believe how beautiful the craftsmanship is thank you Robar for making my gun one of a kind you guys rock. This gun was passed down to me and I can t thank u guys enough for making it come back to life

Great service, friendly, very professional. I wanted my tritium sights put on an XDm. Had it with me and they said bring it in, we can do it now and it will only take 15 minutes. Well, they lied, it was 10 minutes, tops!
BTW, Google has their hours wrong, they are open until 5 PM.

They have done NINETEEN of our platforms. Would we have sent them this many and spent, let us see. . . about 10 grand if we were not 100% sure we could trust our lives to their work? We have been completely satisfied. I have had no issues with their customer service. They have spent hours on the phone with me to get a true picture of my likes and to make sure I was satisfied. We like to do NP3 internals and PT2 outside. You can run an AR dry with NP3. The PT2 does not chip. We had one small issue with a pistol. Picked up and back within 10 days. About waiting time: All of these top notch smiths have long waiting times. I waited 18 months for a weapon at another "top-rated smithy". Robar gives pretty good estimates. Most weapon platforms have been about 8 weeks. If you want something special or classy, give them a break. This type of custom work takes time and meticulous attention to detail. If you want things fast, send them to a parts changer. You will get exactly what you pay for. Their prices are very fair considering they pay their smiths well. They have to to retain this level of expertise and commitment to excellence. I am not affiliated in any way with Robar. I mean every word. I am not getting a dime for this blog. Worked with Michelle Hernandez having my XDS coated with NP3 Plus and grip stippled. Took longer than expected but only do to their back log from doing quality work and QC workmanship !!. People who see the pistol after having done say nothing but looks and feels amazingly beter than factory issue...Sending in Browning HP when they get their package programs back together to improve on the great pistol John Browning created many yrs ago.

I have been actively involved in the shooting sports for 26 years, have read thousands of books, magazines, and other printed publications related to firearms, attended dozens of stadium size gun shows, and spent thousands of hours on the internet dedicated to researching the sport and science of shooting.

In the Spring of 2016 I commissioned Robar with doing a Benelli M4 build with a Matte Black Roguard exterior and NP3 Plus internals, and a bunch of customer supplied parts to install. The resulting product was unquestionably the single best shotgun I have ever come across in my lifetime, be it in person, on the internet, or in a printed publication. The craftsmanship was absolutely beyond all of my highest expectations, and was unsurpassed by anything else I have ever encountered (a remarkable feat given that I have seen literally thousands of shotguns, including several very impressive and expensive custom builds.) My Robar Benelli M4 is a weapon that I would absolutely never re-sell during my lifetime.

If you want to own the absolute best custom shotgun, rifle or handgun in the world, have it built/assembled and refinished at Robar. For the discerning shooting enthusiast who demands the best and knows the difference - look no further, you will not be disappointed!!!!
