While I did receive a warm welcome and a glass of champagne upon check-in, the rest of the experience went downhill from there.

In my room: One evening I returned to the room to discover the the air conditioning, coffee maker, tea maker did not work. I called the concierge desk to have someone come up, but it rang 30 times with no answer. In fact, I never saw the concierge desk staffed. The in-mirror television in the restroom didn't work either, but that was the least of my concerns at the time. Several of the bathroom fixtures were loose or crooked.

In the DEQ restaurant: Arriving back to the hotel later, I stopped in for a late dinner and cocktail. A snobby bartender put a menu in front me when I sat down, but didn't greet me, and didn't return for 15 minutes. When trying to flag her down, she gave me the "hold on a second" finger, and still never returned. I left and skipped dinner that evening.

The culminating experience was when I requested transportation to the airport during an early morning checkout. I'd asked the day before if a taxi could be made available. I was instead given a black car with a significantly higher flat rate fee. The driver was unpleasant the entire way to the airport, and then when we arrived informed me that he could not accept my debit/credit card as a form of payment. This was my only payment option, aside from US dollars, since I was travelling internationally. He held my luggage hostage while he called the hotel. I spoke briefly to the front desk staff, mentioning that they should have confirmed the form of payment before I even got into the vehicle. They asked the driver to just drop me off and return to the hotel, but they never spoke with me again, so I have no clue if I was to be charged for dealing with this INCREDIBLY RUDE AND OFFENSIVE driver.

When I stay at the Ritz Carlton, I expect a stellar experience across the board. This entire stay at this property was lacking in customer service, hospitality, and general politeness. All this, at a Ritz-Carlton price too!

It is disappointing to visit Canada for the first time and to have this experience. I would not recommend this property to a friend, a colleague, or anyone in my industry for future meetings or events. Avoid having the same experience as I did and stay at a different Toronto property instead.

Ritz is a beautiful hotel. We went for high tea. We were very disappointed with the atmosphere. We were not expecting to be in the lounge bar area. We were expecting linen on tables.$60.00 for tea it should have a better set up. The service was very slow. 2 waitresses with 4 tables we were the 5th one and they both kept walking past us with out acknowledging us.
We were not impressed at all.

4.5 Stars. I just came back from my stay today and I felt the need to write my review as soon as possible. Let me start by saying that this hotel was phenomenal, but more than anything, the employees were what made the stay exceptional! Their dedication to service and standards blew my mind. Upon certain complications, the employees were never rude and handled the situations calmly and respectfully. They listened to our complaints and fixed them (Ill get to this later or you can skip to [NOT SO GOOD] part of the review).

Let me talk about the good things then I will address the reason I didn't give it the last .5 star.

[FOOD] The food was delicious, I tried their Avocado Toast (tastes amazing when you add the smoked salmon), the Ritz-Carlton Burger, the Truffle and Parmesan fries and 12 oz Streak, those were all delicious. The two things that I tried that I didn't like were the Grilled Cheese (the amount of mayo or aioli or whatever it was inside was so disgusting that I took one bite and I spat it out, I had to call to change it to the burger). The other dish I didn't like was the Beef Bolognese, it was just tasteless. Also I should mention that my mom and sister had ordered the burger before me and it also had too much sauce on it, making the bun soggy, when I got mine I made sure to clarify that I wanted light sauce. It tasted better then but I really think they should work on balancing the amount of sauce put on the food.

[POOL] The pool was nice, I wish the hot tub was opened but that's not the hotel's fault. The pool was clean, and because the hotel was at low occupancy, there weren't much people there and everyone respectfully kept their distances. Fresh towels and water were always on hand. There was a really kind employee who worked by the pool, she always checked on my family and I, asking if we were alright. I don't remember her name but she had orange hair. I was surprised that there was only one shower in the change room but thats not a big deal.

[ROOM] Our room was AMAZING!!! We had a beautiful view of the CN Tower and the lake. In the night, nothing beats this view. Lying awake with a good movie on and the glowing CN Tower right (and I mean literally right there) outside the window. The bed was so soft, the pillows a little uncomfortable but I think that was just me. There is everything you need in the room in case of forgetfulness or just basic need (sewing kit, dental kit, cotton swabs, etc). The room was really clean and was always cleaned really well (Twice a day). The TV had some trouble with the Google Chrome cast, we couldn't get it to work our entire stay but the hotel was nice enough to send a technician who explained that the chrome cast was having problems and provided an HDMI cord that I could use with my laptop.

[EMPLOYEES] I cannot stress this enough, the employees are truely what make this hotel shine. Their dedication to their jobs amazes me. They are all so kind and substantial in their own ways. The cleaning ladies went above and beyond, everytime we left and came back to the room, I couldn't believe it was the same room. Since it's mid-semester I had all my school books and supplies scattered and she organized them and put them together. She placed our scattered shoes together and it's these little things that made it hard not to tip them!

Special thanks to Stephanie (The Manager) who went out of her way to deliver our wine and welcome us and Maksudar (In-Room Dining) for performing each request with the utmost optimism and enthusiasm and tending to all our dining needs, down to the smallest request and for just being a friendly face!

[THE NOT SO GOOD] This was the only major problem we had with the hotel, we had a ~$100 credit for dinner. Everytime we ordered, we had to clarify and remind them that the credit needed to be subtracted from the total bill. I would assume that something like that'd be noted down so the fact that we had a problem everytime we order dinner was a little annoying. However, whichever employees was dealing with it each night sorted it out each time.

Amazing hotel even for Torontonians. Excellent breakfast buffet on weekends. I've been here for their Afternoon Tea and I have to say they have one of the better ones in Toronto. I actually feel full after. Amazing sweet and savory bites included.

Spa My blends by Clarins is an amazing place to go spend a whole day of relaxation. Do yourself a favor and book a massage here. Then prepare to spend the whole day being pampered. You can use the facilities all day, from eucalyptus steam room, the gym or the salt water pool.

Super friendly staff throughout and very clean.

If you want to spoil yourself do two things: Go to their spa and have their Sunday brunch. You will feel like you are Queen of the world. It is expensive but it is true luxury. The staff are amazing.

Amazing time. The customer service was above and beyond. Lots of cool stuff in the lobby like candy, tea, chilled maple syrup, fruit, and champagne when we checked in. The burger from room service was incredible.

After hearing rave reviews from friends, we decided to give the Ritz a try in our latest trip downtown. It's a beautiful upscale hotel and the service was spectacular. We are dinner at Toca and the food was absolutely delicious.

Good service, and friendly staff. The problem I had was we had to call down to front desk twice for a menu, they never brought it up and there wasn't one in the room. I've stayed in several Ritz and never had to call twice. Not up to par but good effort.

Amazing customer service. I had ordered flowers for my girl friend's birthday trip to be in the room on arrival. They were not there - the hotel delivered us something everyday there after - Champagne, Fruits, chocolate covered berries, flowers, etc. The room was spotless and the room service was to die for, on time and perfect set up each day. Coffee pour over was so yummy. Highly recommend this property to everyone and anyone.

The hotel + facilities are great:

The hotel + facilities are great:

PRO:
- ROOM = comfy bed, nice pillows, black-out curtains
- BATHROOM = robe, TV-in-mirror (?! not useful, but novel), included kits of all kinds [toothbrush, comb, etc]
- VIEWS = lake view actually means "CN-tower view". The lake wasn't overly memorable.
- LOCATION = center of downtown, right on the PATH

CON:
- hotel staff was confused, and wandered into my room at 2am. Awkward :-/
- skip the bar downstairs. [nice ambiance, beverages didn't do-it-for-me]

THE HOTEL

THE HOTEL
Excellent service, the overall hotel is well kept, decorated and spacious. You can definitely tell this is a high end hotel from the moment you walk in. The restaurants and lounges are beautiful with excellent food. Tocca offers Sunday brunch which is exquisite. Pricey but it s expected for the Ritz. A nice complimentary ice cream stand (Hagan Daz) was present in lobby for the wkend I stayed. That was a nice treat for guest, though I never tried it.
Valet is pricey, $50/day but they allow in and out privileges.

HOTEL ROOM
I stayed in a corner suite looking out to the CN Tower and lake. The room is spacious 650 sq ft. Suitable for a couple but yet still roomy to fit children. Comes with excellent toiletry and soft robes/slippers. The highest level for the hotel is 20th floor (surprisingly not too high). I stayed on 8th floor which wasn t the best view as you need to be on a higher level.

AMENITIES
The pool and hot tub area is nice, clean, and has views facing the CN tower. However, as mention bc it s on a lower floor you aren t getting a magnificent view of lake and CN Tower.

SPA
Beautiful and high end service. Amenities are nice and clean. The woman s change room is not as large as expected. The steam room, whirl pool hot tub is nice and cozy. The waiting room is large, well kept and decorated. Service is excellent but very pricey.

Clean rooms, great food, awesome service. Staff are well trained and they know what they are doing. We like how the staff pay attention to little details. They leave extra towels if you used all of them the day before, Same with coffee pods for the espresso machine and more. To us that s very important.

WONDERFUL! Two weeks open since they shut down for Covid, and the staff remain the highlight of the experience here.

This was not our plans for where we wanted to spend our 10th anniversary, however this experience was entirely for recreational and the room remain a highlight. We stayed in one of the newly renovated corner units, and my only desire would have been a door to separate the bedroom from the of the rest of the suite.

Its the first time we experienced a stay where there wasn't an occupancy issue. The club level Toca and the Bar and Lounge remain closed. Only the Ritz bar and Patio was open.

We felt secure and safe from Covid during our stay at hotel. We almost forgot to be concerned, and on a few occasions I forgot my face covering.

Went here for my 16th birthday and they treated me like royalty. There was a cake from the hotel waiting for me in my suite and the salon gave me a cute birthday package. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. Also the hotel restaurant was amazing they took me in the kitchen for a little tour and I got to go inside the cheese room which was super cool, I'll never forget my visit here.
