Incredible experience with friends or as a couple,...

Incredible experience with friends or as a couple, haven't been disappointed here. The food is so rich in flavours and textures, you will want to savour each bite for a while. The service is great, waiters are fun, speak okay English and the atmosphere easy going. The wine selection is also great and the sommelier will help you if you can't decide. You can look into the kitchen with a table in the back and the team seems to be enjoying their job. Worth getting one of the menus certainly, not only because ask the poetic names and descriptions make it difficult to choose. The interior is modern, simple with yet a few funky design choices and calming background music.

Top-level vegetarian restaurant. Research cuisine with imaginative, innovative and aesthetically impeccable dishes. The proof that vegetarian cooking is not necessarily synonymous with sad or not very tasty cuisine. Prices appropriate to the level of the restaurant. To try.

We were there for lunch and it lived up to expectations. They offer a set menu for 15 euros with a choice between some courses. The quality of the food is excellent and the service is accurate. The drinks are a little expensive (off the menu) but the overall experience is really good. Lunch is a must if you want to enjoy vegetarian starry cuisine without spending too much.

A unique experience! 14 mini brought with surprising tastes and artistic design. A pleasure for palate, eyes, ears (gong) and heel. Impossible not to pass the finger on the plate to taste the various creams and sauces individually. Stella MIchelin super deserved and price aligned with service, very kind and very professional, and with food.
I'll be back for sure.

I came to dinner with my girlfriend who has been a vegetarian for years. We thought of Joia because it is the only starred restaurant in which to eat together. The experience turned out to be between the disastrous and the comic (even if two cabaret tickets would have cost us much less). We choose the menus and prepare to experience this culinary experience. The first courses arrive: "travel notes" for my girlfriend. The dish has five teaspoons with different sauces to dip in a foam. The experience begins, but not the one we expected. In handing out the dish, the clumsy maid inclines him by making a strike with the spoons that spill the liquid in the pot, all exclaiming "I do not believe it!". We did not even believe it. The head room pretends indifference while explaining our dishes, the maid sets up the good and better the serving by serving the dirty dish with a spoon completely empty. To which my girlfriend, timidly advances the request to have the full spoon. What we expected was (obviously) the replacement of the dish, what happened is that they brought a teaspoon aside letting her eat on a plate that would be unpresentable even in any pizzeria. My menu included adding truffles to each dish. The head of the armed room of glove and truffle cutter is preparing to complete my dish. Immediately you understand that it is not very practical with the instrument, in fact a piece flies on my pants. Obviously she does not notice it. A constant dinner was the inability of all staff intervening to place anything on the table without banging at least two other objects. So, between clumsiness, we try to go ahead and enjoy our dinner. To quote only two other moments of high disbelief on our part: I'm drinking a sip of wine and a waiter clears the plate stumbling in my elbow and pretending nothing, my girlfriend is eating the cake and the waitress before the flat end decides to take it away, creating the embarrassing situation of having to point out that "sorry I had not finished yet". In short, it really seemed to be in a candid room and would have made us laugh if it were not for the 378 euros of account for two menus and three glasses of wine. It must be said that not even the food was up to what is expected of a starred restaurant. The dishes were often cheap and the taste almost always good but certainly not special. Being a cooking enthusiast, sometimes I give myself a starry dinner and I wonder how it is possible that Joia has earned a Michelin star.

My dad and I both have different food allergies. They were able to accommodate us and it was the best experience of my life. For anyone in the area I would highly recommend coming here! Every time I am in town for business I make sure to make a reservation.

As a vegetarian for 20+ years and a foodie who has...

As a vegetarian for 20+ years and a foodie who has been to some of the best restaurants in the world, here's my (meticulous) and honest review: My partner and I were excited to splurge on a Michelin rated vegetarian restaurant after having spent two weeks in what is pretty much an all-meat eating culture like northern Italy. To my surprise, I was quite disappointed. Not for any one thing in particular, rather a collection of things. (1) No bar. If there's no bar then there's no cocktails. Only wine could be offered to drink. Having allergy to red wine meant I had a very limited selection. (2) the smell inside the restaurant smelled of mold. Like someone left wet towels on the floor too long (3) the atmosphere was awkwardly quiet. No background music or anything to cut the noise so I felt like I had to whisper the whole time. (4) Design of interiors was dated and meh. Terrible lighting; too bright. Yes, I realize this is petty, but these things do matter. Especially when you're paying $400+ for a meal.

Now on to the food...we both ordered the large fixed menu "The Zenith" which was a 10 course meal. (5) timing of the courses were way off. We were served for over 3+ hours! With huge gaps in between courses but of the same section. (6) too much food. I felt sickly full by the end of it. This is my own fault for ordering it, but still worth noting. (7) ALL of the dishes they served were cold. All of them. Not a single hot meal! (8) there was no variety in the flavor of the dishes. They were all quite bitter and all repeated either celery, tomatoes, basil, or raspberry [lots of raspberry!] (9) no regional takes on dishes. We're in Italy! A culinary Mecca. Yet none of what was served was a nod to that culture at all. (10) servers had a hard time explaining what exactly our dishes were. When asked they would simply say "vegetables". When serving the cheese she told us all of the chesses were 'pecorino' even though that clearly wasn't the case. (11) the texture in at least 3 of the dishes was off. Soggy. Like they'd been sitting in the refrigerator for too long.

In summary, I think this is a classic example of a name getting perpetuated just because it has caught-on with upper tiers of people. The plating and dishes looked beautiful, but fell flat with actual flavors of things. I've certainly had much better vegetarian dishes, and from $15-20 restaurants nonetheless. Save your money, or splurge elsewhere.

I was in Milan on a business trip with my sister, who works with me and my business partner. Becasue i am vegan (the other two are meat eaters) we decided to go to a vegan reataurant. After asking Siri we ended up here, not knowing that it was a michelin star restaurant.

I was slightly apprehensive at first as I have been to many nice restaurants around the world and eaten many types of cuisine, some good, some bad. And being new to veganism, for some reason I thought I might not be able to experience the great service and impeccable food I have had before. How wrong I was.

Once we sat down and checked through the menu there were vegetarian and vegan options, but everyone decided to choose only vegan plates, and all different dishes so we could get the most from what we were about experience and share.

First arrived the tasting plate, which was a very tiny selection of different vegetables and sauces to try. I wasn't too sure about this, but soon realised the flavours wre amazing. This was complimentary. Next up was another dish, which I cannot explain. I can just say that it was a type of mousse (it probably wasn't a mousse so I apologise if I was way off the mark with this) with two different types of sauces. Also complimentary and tasting great.

As the starters arrived, the food got better. The presentation was impeccable and the textures were out of this world and the flavours were tremendous. The same goes for the main course. We also had a dessert, all of which were a great size and a great finish to the mea. Everything washed down with the cheapest bottle of house red they had, which complimented everything we had.

This was one of the best meals I have ever had. Even the two meat eaters said the same.

Although it was quite expensive, 254 for three people, ( 85 a head) it was worth every cent and we will certainly be visiting again.

Any meat eaters out there that think you can't have a good meal without meat, visit Joia and you may soon change your mind!

Nothing to say about the commitment of the chef and his collaborators, kind and well-prepared guys, unfortunately, however, I was not impressed by the dishes, as I would have expected. I did not find that flicker, that nuance, that note that invites me to return, I'm sorry.

The staff seemed to be very annoyed with questions and their friendliness was kind of insincere. Too bad, the food is very good in taste, but expensive.. what was also nice were the try dishes they serve for free (!), but mostly it was not really clear what was put in front of you... therefore do not recommend it. Scusa!

Great kitchen and adequate service. Dishes of great expression of balance and gastronomic ethics. An ethic that would be perfect if they didn't pay 13 euros for a poor glass of a good -not outstanding- red wine. But Leeman is really a master.

As a journey with his memories he gives you unforgettable experiences, even the human activity of knowing how to cook can surprise you ... with visual art, its flavors. Live hic et nunc so you have unforgettable moments! Thank you for creating such a unique place in Milan! All excellent! The dish that I preferred was travel notes, a surprise at every spoonful!

Tastes, flavors and colors. All excellent except the desserts, in my opinion with too many contrasts. Young and kind staff, a little too plastered in the presentation of dishes and wines. Obviously more a sensory experience than a place to eat.

Don't get me wrong - some of the dishes we've tasted were really mind-blowingly amazing and totally deserving of the Michelin star. It's just that there were a couple misses. The staff grew increasingly tired during the course of the evening, and while we were very well taken care of at first, by the end they only seemed to be eager to call it a day, barely interested in our experience. The first waiter discouraged us heavily from the more intense wine pairing, we ended up taking one of each and my partner deeply regretted listening to the suggestion. The desserts were a huge disappointment, we got 4 of them and the only one that was tasty was the one made of tomatoes; as to the rest - we bought tiramisu in a Lidl store the day before and it was actually better! We got the 5 minutes dessert without the cheesecake, which is apparently normal for the Zenith menu, but was not mentioned anywhere. Also, the Zenith menu is way too big, we both felt like we were going to die from the overeating, instead of feeling pampered and satisfied; I don't even understand why you offer such a monstrosity.

A path made up of a thousand shades, the sweet that blends perfectly with the acidity of the products, a very accurate presentation of the dishes, a customer care worthy of the starred restaurant.

Unique experience and probably not repeatable shortly because of the bill, but it is known that haute cuisine is like a pampering to be given every now and then to fully enjoy the pleasure! The restaurant itself cannot be said to be a marvel, but I am interested in a restaurant for the cuisine it offers. The dishes, strictly vegetarian or vegan, are a riot of: flavors, colors, shapes! Innovative in all senses; nothing is left to chance, but well studied! I'll be back!

We stayed at this great restaurant with friends.
We have tasted all different dishes for the pleasure of tastings of different kinds.
Everything was a wonderful surprise, starting from the eyes, they looked like works of art rather than food, but, once tasted, they were delicious!
Impeccable service.
Evening worthy of note, this place deserves the fame it has.
We'll be back

I did not expect

I did not expect
I went to dinner with my wife using a groupon vaucher and therefore I thought I was being given 'little' treatment, given that the place was starry.
Well! I ate really well, I was surprised at how fruit and vegetables can be transformed.
Perhaps the only thing that disappointed my expectations was the cleanliness and decor of the room, very retro.
Nice owner.
I advise

ridiculous service, slow and distracted. To drink aspects beyond the dishes. Restaurant for fools that fans fooled by the composition of the dishes but the quality is not up to expectations. Huge prices with embarrassing subjects. For lunch at the bistro it is even worse. Pure marketing and if you are not a vegetarian, you spend but do not eat.

Vegetarian or not, joia dishes will leave you speechless. Great research into the ingredients, the dish and the taste: each dish tells a story of the chef who will leave the soul of his kitchen in your mouth and heart.
You don't need to "leave a kidney" and you don't go out hungry; there are tasting menus from 50 to 140 euros, from 3 to 10/15 courses for all palates and for all stomachs.
A praise also goes to the staff who have been able to choose the chef: all young boys, prepared and available both to tell the dishes in depth and to exchange informal chats, even having a few laughs.
My favorite plate? Umami! I still don't understand how the chef got that flavor ... Congratulations!

The paradise for those who are immersed in a diet ...

The paradise for those who are immersed in a diet or is vegan / vegetarian, you will discover that eating healthy does not mean eating depriving oneself of flavors. True high natural cuisine, so much so that they make you experience it as an experience (pay attention to the names of the dishes), so in addition to the classic Menu you will find "paths" of taste, a kind of journey from the hand of the Chef, if you do not have to do a la Carte, I highly recommend the Zenith path.

Bringing an anti-vegan and anti-vegetarian carnivore like me to a restaurant like this is no small feat. Yet at Joia I ate very well, extremely well-kept dishes of great technique and imagination. Here there is a great use of all that is vegetable. The flavors are however marked and clearly identifiable. For once, the undersigned has willingly and without regret renounced what he likes best.

Beautiful food, presented in an artful way with immaculate service. Tasteful place settings and decor in the restaurant, incongrut in a less than pretty neighbourhood.
25 euro for a five course (all served at once) tasting menu at lunchtime, including coffee. Everything was alive with flavour and perfectly seasoned. All our options were vegan and included beautiful artichoke cream, gnocchi, vegetables in sticky sesame sauce, stuffed peppers in a satay sauce, and a light and creamy, satisfying coconut cream strawberries with syrupy cake. Finished off with an intense espresso. We were dying to try the selection of home-made vegan cheeses (30 euro for 7 or so) but couldn't fit more in. Highly recommended but very dear if you go off the tasting menu!
