Update: updates to four stars. Good stock of essentials while Sams club was out of basics on March 8 2020
The best big box retailer with cutting edge shopping experience or cram as much in small space to maximize profit?
In comparing the two, it seems like things are more expensive than Sams club. At Sams club I can use their app and choose pick up in store since this saves a lot of time and money because I know when things are on sale. For example, Extra virgin cold pressed organic coconut oil shows on sale now for 9.88 at Sams (normally $14) but I don t know what the local price is at Costco since their website tells you to check at store? At Costco there is no option to pick up in store. You can t even search what is in store since they decided not to invest in what consumers want . Please update your app and website to show what products are available in store. Also, Sams club allows you to email in-store receipts to yourself automatically so you don t have to keep hard copies. Costco is behind the times but content to maximize short term profits over a modern consumer experience. Also, I find the parking harder to navigate . They do deserve credit for having a lot of gas machines when they work.

The workers on the floor are not knowledgeable at all regarding their stock. I asked two different workers if they have Kirkland block cheese and was told not at the Eagan location. This was totally incorrect, as I found it at the end of the bacon aisle, no where near the rest of the other cheeses. Also, even at Customer Service, I was given wrong information for simple questions. I asked if a membership card is required to make a purchase at the liquor store and was told no, however, both the membership card as well as a drivers license is required. Also asked if you could apply for the Citi Visa Card online, and she did not know.

It is a large Costco. The selection is limited so you will need a side store for unique "small" batch items like #4 coffee filters, but you can go for two weeks between Costco trips. They also have a liquor store attached.

This place is crazy busy! There are not enough check out lines for the volume of people that shop there. I do like most of the prices of the items I do buy there. The customer service is much better than their competitors, for customer service I give four stars.

Ok, so new location so that's to be considered, but it needs some work to get things on these right track imho.
First off, Fairly busy at 430pm, 2 cashier's open, although self check didn't have 6 peole deep lines.... I used self check out, and the assistant/cashier was nice and helpful.
One person checking receipts at the door, a bit of a line and I counted 8 people behind there customer service desk, one Customer being helped, no others in line.
My biggest gripe is the lack of cart corrals they are few and far between, sure I can walk the distance, but I'm willing to bet there's going to be more than your average carts just left wherever, especially when there's a bunch of snow. Careful where you park, I'd expect more cart damage to cars than normal because of this. That being said I did see them collecting carts while I was there.

Eagan Costco. Much appreciated but awful design for entry and getting gas then shopping and vice versa. A redlight is missing and its comical to see everyone leaving and staring at each other resulting in hand gestures and false starts and stops.
The store is typical costco layout.
The cart corrallers could stand to bulk up and avoid hitting people with the choo choo cart train.
Im trying to find something else to say here.
Typical Costco.

This Costco is equidistant to the St. Louis Park location from my place so I could go to either. Recently decided to give the Eagan store a try and I'm so glad I did - it's never as busy when I go so the experience actually borders on pleasant. Anyone who knows me will tell you what a stickler I am for knowing where you are in physical space and staying out of the way of others. The COVID-19 pandemic, and resulting removal of free samples, has relieved choke points and goes a long way to eliminating my top Costco dread.
The experience is very Costco-y, which is good.
Don't go to this store. I like it just the way it is without you there.
Seriously, if you start going I'm busting this rating down to 3 stars. Don't make me do it.

Love the new Costco in Eagan! Lots of parking, unlike the St Louis Park store. They also have self checkout!!! Something Costco has needed for years. If only they'd add a scan and go option to their app similar to what Sam's Club has, then you could avoid the checkout lines entirely.

Great new storefront in Eagan, Nice new building with tons of easy to access parking in a nice location. Membership is $60, check online though and you can get either a military discount via some coupons or a $20 gift card if you have a student email. Prices are exactly what you would expect for a Costco, which are good and at least competitive if not better than Sam's club.

It's Costco! The team is great they are very willing to help you. I'm just not sold on the product selection. It's missing some of my Costco basics. I dislike that some of the prepared food is in meat refrigerators instead of upright refrigerators. It takes longer to shop. The book selection is so small. The parking lot is odd. The left turn light off the highway is defective. It's a new store so i will update this review some time. I am sure there will be improvements.
15 REASONS WHY COSTCO IS THE BEST
15 REASONS WHY COSTCO IS THE BEST
1. The prices.
Prior to September 15, 1983, buying items in bulk made you look like either a criminal suspect or an obsessive hoarder. Really, who needs a 3-dozen carton of eggs and a 12-pack of muffins? Unless you want to become a muffin, you re Kate Gosselin or are a member of the Duggar clan, that is. Flash-forward to today and you d be crazy not to buy these items in bulk. The price per unit is an absolute steal and you re left with extra cash to knock a few items off your holiday gift list. Try this suggestion from Frugal 101: If you have kids and need to save on school supplies, get a group of parents together, have everyone chip in a few dollars and then divvy up a large pack of markers, pens, paper, and any other supplies the teacher requires. For the holidays, take a look at Costco s impressive selection of DVDs. My greatest find was The Seinfeld Complete Series DVD Collection for just under $100. Yes, I said under $100. Of course, skepticism ensued and I questioned whether half the DVD pockets were empty. The only thing ridiculous about this illustration is that I doubted Costco for a millisecond. The DVDs were in impeccable condition, there were no missing disks and they even included bonus features. For once, I actually purchased a gift that my boyfriend liked.
2. Feeling like a VIP.
Upon entering Costco, shoppers must pull out their membership cards for the store clerk to view. If you re a rookie, you likely belong to the Gold Star club. If you re a Costco veteran, can t seem to go a weekend without a trip to the warehouse or simply refuse to shop anywhere else, you likely own an Executive Membership and enjoy an annual 2% reward on your Costco purchases. If you re fortunate enough to have an Executive Membership card in your wallet, congratulations, you ve made it to the top. Admit it, you feel kind of cool flashing your black and gold card to gain access into the building. Just try to remember that you re not a CIA agent.
3. Return policy.
Did your printer break? Is your new Ninja Ultra Kitchen System not chopping properly? All you have to do is return it pretty much whenever you want. If you re busy binge watching all of Homeland and can t fathom leaving the couch this weekend, just take it back in a couple of years. You ll still get all of your money back.
4. Organic options.
Whole Foods and specialty nutrition shops are great, but they ll cost you your next few paychecks, and some. Solution: weave in and out of Costco s food aisles to see what new organic and eco-friendly products are in store. A few of my all time favorites are the Earthly Choice Organic Quinoa, Carrington Farms 100% Organic Coconut Oil and Kirkland Signature Environmentally Friendly Laundry Detergent in natural lavender scent. If you want to take it to the next level, knock yourself out with the Kirkland Signature Eco Friendly Liquid Dish Soap. Not satisfied with how this soap cuts grease? See number three. If you re not into store brand products, Costco now carries hair and body wash by Jessica Alba s all natural product line, The Honest Company.
5. Costco Carries What?!
This holiday season, surprise your child with a Metropolis Play System for just $18,999.99. If you can t live in the city, simply bring the city to your back yard with this outdoor playground that comes luxuriously furnished with a sky loft and extra wide monkey bars. While you re at it, treat yourself to an Almost Heaven Deluxe Sauna that comes shaped like a wine barrel. A bit unnecessary? Maybe. But if you could, you probably would, right?
6. Costco gas.
If you didn t already know, Costco s gas prices are typically between $0.10 and $0.20 cheaper than the nearest gas station. Costco might not have the fun squeegee stations but it s a small price to pay for great savings.

This is a great Costco. Familiar layout to what you're used to at a Costco but with some nice additions. The high top carts are awesome, more room than the old style. Self check lanes make it quick for when you have a few items. The preorder keyosk for the food court is brilliant. I would love it if they would add a section for craft beers like they had in Naperville.
