It was such a difficult time for me and my family when my newborn( 3 weeks old) has got a UTI and was diagnosed with hydronephrosis in addition to his clubfoot (he was in casts by that time). All doctors were great and helpful, supportive and really caring. I was next to my baby 24/7 and staff forced me to go to eat something and took care of my son.
We are expecting a surgery on the kidney soon and I hope and believe that everything will be amazing after.
His little feet are great right now thanks to Sarah Patterson.

Absolutely first class treatment and attention from the sick kids when my daughter took not well. We'd like to give particular thanks to nurse practitioner Vicky McConachie for the way she dealt with my 3 year old. Thank you.

Need to agree with one of the previous comments about the rude triage nurse, in our case it might have been a racist discrimination. It was our first time visiting and our baby's first name was called among 5 other names called by another staff. We stood there confused before there nurse screamed at us to bring our baby to her.

When the nurse took measure she gave no prior warning and grabbed our baby's tightly fitted shoes straight off without loosening it. With no efforts in comforting our screaming baby she grabbed her leg and wrapped the sensor on her toe. I thought it's just her work professionally done but for all babies after ours the nurse was acting completely differently, with greeting and apologies for waiting, then warm comforting approaches to those babies.

I cannot stop thinking we had been a subject of racial discrimination and the experience is increasing sickening the more I think about it. This makes me worry for my daughter's future growing up as a ethnic minority in this country supposingly native to her. I have never associated Scotland with racists, but the experience we received in our vulnerable hours has made me rethink

My little girl has been here on a few occasions and had a few operations here. The nursing staff are amazing and fantastic with the kids. The care the kids get is second to none and I couldn't fault them for a thing.

My son has had on going treatments at sick kids since he was very small, almost 7 years he's been going now, and must say they deal with him amazingly every time. And the upset parents too.

Really friendly staff, great playroom with play therapist and a clown show....needless to say, my daughter didn't want to go home! My only gripe is the shop which sells pretty much only junk food (healthier Scotland my ***)

Took my son to this hospital. They took at most care... Nurse, Doctor and senior doctors are good .. They spend enough time and analyse the root cause and explain us clearly about the problem.. Available 24 hrs .. Very good hospital and service for Kids..

I hardly know what to say, we were treated with so much kindness and professionalism: from the absolutely wonderful woman on reception - Leigh (I'm sorry if this is spelt incorrectly!) - all the way through to triage and then to the paediatricians and nurses who were all amazing! We are here on holiday and have been so worried about our daughter. Staff treated us all so beautifully and we can't quite believe how much better the children's A&E service here in Edinburgh is than in London, which is overcrowded and underfunded in many hospitals. Thank you so much everyone, we're very grateful for everything this evening x

Care of the children in the hospital is absolutely brilliant wouldn't fault the hospital one bit. But for parents and siblings using parents flat isn't brilliant. Accomodation didn't get checked so was dirty baby wipes, cigarettes in packet, and empty plastic bottles under the bed luckily noticed before twenty month old got near any of them. Hot water isn't working so can't bath ourselfes or my twenty month old. And it's 10pm and still waiting for a travel cot for my twenty month old. It's a joke!. Especially when over 100 miles away from home.

As parents, it s a big fear when your toddler falls ill during your travel overseas. We are eternally grateful for the access to healthcare here, in spite of being tourists. We received nothing but warmth from all staff.

We were also very impressed by the level of professionalism from the doctor on duty and the nurses in trying to get us the info we needed, and the treatment for our little one. I m not sure why there are some bad reviews for this hospital, but this little family of ours was taken care of, in the best way possible and that deserves 5 stars.

My wife and i took our 8 months old baby girl to st johns but were told we had to go over to the Royal hospital for sick children as they dont open at the weekeds. So we took our girl over and had to go ture a&e (even do doctors had seen her and said what was wrong and that was going to happen in st johns) we waited 4 hours to be seen before she was taking up to a ward. In the meantime we were running low on bottles and asked a nurse for sterilised water to make one and she took the bottle and fuelled it from the tap in the staff room and told me thats what they do for bottle's and that was the beat she could do. This bottle was for a sick 8 month old baby and thats the best she could. And is just some of the bad experience that we had over the time my baby girl stayed hear for.

Thank goodness for our NHS.

A very well resourced hospital.
No-one wants to be there but everyone is grateful that it is there.

Christmas day at the ER and everyone was amazing. Thank you without end to all the doctors from the ambulance and from the hospital for helping my son. I will never forget you. True heroes!

Within the next few years, the Sick Kids Hospital is due to be assimilated into another site as part of a greater masterplan, and so it is no surprise that the buildings and decor are in need of refurbishment, but this is entirely irrelevant to this review. The quality of care and attention in A & E was amongst the best I have ever encountered, and the addition of a dedicated 'play' person to engage the waiting children was innovative. I am hugely grateful - thank you!

Not the fact of going to hospital with my son but the fact that all the staff we interacted with that day were absolutely amazing. Thank you to them all for making a not very nice experience more palatable
