Revolution Cardiff Review

Me and my transgender housemate tried to go here to meet some friends that were already inside but were refused entry on account of being "too drunk". We'd each barely been drinking and even the small ammount we'd had to drink was over 2 hours before hand and we we're by no means drunk, and deffinitely less drunk than others in the queue that we're allowed inside. The bouncer looked my friend up and down with her maleish figure but feminine chlothes and eyeliner and came over to tell us we'd had too much to drink and would have to go. I don't think I am being harsh here as we clearly were not drunk and the bouncer (who was bald with a beard on duty at quarter to 10 on december 2nd if management is reading) very obviously looked my friend up and down before deciding we should be allowed in. I'd never been to Rev's before but had heard good things and was looking forwards to it. I will not be attempting to get in again, even though I'm sure I could get in if I was only with other "normal" attendees.

Aye, canny night out! Huge inside with varying rooms with different music.

Food was lovely when we finally got what we order. Poor service from bar staff they need more training!

Great bar. Good memories of two for one shots when I was 18. Dance floor sometimes has one person on it. No problem with queuing at the door.

So my pals and I bought a booth to surprise another friend for her 21st birthday. Long story short two members of our group (one of which was the birthday girl) went outside and had to show their ID's again before being allowed to reenter.
The bouncer looked at her ID, accepted it, handed it back and then asked to see it again. My friend hands over her ID again only for the bouncer to call over a colleague to laugh and sneer at my friend's surname of 'Gay'. For a start, it's the 21st century. Secondly, I think this is DISGUSTING behaviour from anyone, let alone a member of staff, who's priority should be ensuring the safety and happiness of visitors to the venue. My friend left in tears on her 21st birthday. We shall never be returning.
Live Lounge forever!

Nice club. Two dance floors upstairs, that's in addition to the dance floor downstairs.

Food took an hour to arrive and was average. Drinks were lovely and staff very helpful. Issued a refund for food, would go again.

Fantastic food and cocktails staff were so lovely and attentive. We will definitely be back very soon

Cardiff is always fun night out especially after rugby match

Often put on events with live performers which always draws a crowd, student nights are amazing with very affordable drinks and good music on both floors.

Went there for my first time and i want to go again and try the rest of the cocktails out providing i go at happy hour at least lol.

Lack of service.
Arrived there around 7pm on a Friday night. The main room looked quite busy but with a few tables available. We asked to eat and drink and were sitted in the back room with no other customers in sight and the secondary bar closed. We waited more than 20min without any waiter coming at us.
So we just left...

The bouncers at revolution were abusive and we were told to leave the cue and were not allowed in for no apparent reason. After asking the bouncers why we were not allowed in the response was 'I cannot tell you, leave the cue'. The bouncer was approx 6 feet 3, thick set, white male with and awful short back and sides haircut that looks like it was done by his mother. As a student I am appalled by his behaviour and revolution's policy should be explained in full.

Unbelievable what Ive read about your bouncers not just through past reviews but elsewhere also, it is shameful.

The cocktails and atmosphere were great but was quite a long wait before our drinks were served, even though it wasn't busy.

I visited at the weekend to do a mixology class for my sister s hen party. Dan. C. Was amazing! He entertained and the girls throughly enjoyed every minute. He is a treasure to your company. I will certainly be back again and will personally be requesting Dan.C. #Revolution #Cardiff

Awful!!! Big group out for a 50th birthday party. Refused entry after queing 25 minutes because we didn't have I.D. it was a 50th party with the youngest being 33!!!! The bouncers said it was policy but we saw them letting younger people in without asking or them having I.D. very discriminatory establishment

A lovely place for lunch, cocktails delicious. Friendly staff. A big place - I'm sure there's a good vibe here of an evening.

Went there after a wedding before the evening party. Had some nice food but the music was a bit too loud for me.

Went to the cocktail experience. Found it very boring. No banter. Just queing to make your own cocktail. We went downstairs for food. The music was so loud people were screming over the music. Food was discusting. Burgers were burnt chips More

Cocktail making class was excellent. Bar staff were knowledgeable and definitely made the experience memorable.

Walking past today and it started pouring down so we decided to pop in here for food, so glad we did, I had the caeser salad and it was gorgeous, my other half had the ribs and they were huge! It s spotlessly clean & they have all social distancing measures in place... the staff are friendly and attentive, will definitely be visiting again.

The Cardiff Revolution is spacious and offers colorful drinks and a simple menu. The place is very beautiful, we like to know and the service.

Cannot recommend the Cocktail Masterclass highly enough! We went for my 21st and our host Dan C is such a boss mixologist, and the party games (some of which Dan himself created!) were so much fun I didn t stop laughing the whole time. He went beyond the call of duty to ensure we were comfortable and had everything sorted. Thank you Dan and all the staff at Rev s for making my birthday so special and memorable We will be back for Xmas so look out!

Love this place.We have been to the one in Norwich a few times, so was so glad to see one in Cardiff. We spent a few hours here , had food and cocktails. The staff we lovely, helpfull and didn't pester you but was close by if you wanted to order from your table.

Awful. Table was booked in advance for Argentina vs Iceland game. Got there early so that I could watch all the build up to the game with the latin society (mostly Argentinian). As time went on, I was a bit concerned as the screen had not yet been prepared and there was no sign of the game being shown. I politely asked the barman and he assured me they were sorting it, but having trouble finding the channel (itv1). The screen was eventually pulled down and the projector set with 5 minutes until K.O. I then asked if it was possible for the volume to be higher and the ceiling lights surrounding the screen to be turned off as the game was difficult to see due to the brightness and the shadowing on the screen display. I asked 4 different members of staff over a period of 35 minutes, if it was possible for the lights to be turned off, appreciating that they were busy but also annoyed and confused as to why they kept telling me they would sort it but then proceeding to walk past me without letting me know what the problem was. After many of us trying, my girlfriend offered to go to the bar and see what was happening. Low and behold, the man behind the bar sorted it straight away. Will not recommend going there, will be ignored if you cause any inconvenience to staff. Overpriced and poorly managed. If I could give the place a zero I would.

Unidentifiable food, served in the dark, slowest bar service ever... Couldn't serve me a glass of wine because they had run out of glasses?

I only visited on a lunchtime and we sat outside on a hot day. There was great live entertainment indoors and there was a good vibe to the place. We didn't have anything to eat, but what others were having looked very nice. Nice staff.
Service very good and beer reasonably priced.

Have lived in Cardiff from birth and if it s one place I keep hearing about its this bar and its bouncers being plain awful. Most recently breaking a boys jaw. I advise everyone to stay away I have been a few times it s nothing spectacular but I always opt somewhere else if I can just because of the number bouncer incidents i ve heard over the years.

Awesome met 2 of the band ..Shanti and lead singer..and had a snog with a 24 yr old German law student

Revolution is our location of choice for pre-Wales games drinks. Our last visit we picked a standard issue wobbly table and they even had table leg wedges! I also take my office Christmas party there almost every year as it's a large venue that is suitable for the breadth of ages that a large office has.

Cocktail making session with Arthur was brilliant value for money. Amazing fun

After having 2 pints and 3 shots. I was refused service of more shots as 'according to law you have had to many shots' so I can't serve you any more. But I could still have a pint?????????
Been in this trade for over 20 years. How can you keep a record of who's drinking what. Even more do on student nights!!!!!!

Ordered a vegan burger with bacon... By accident.. And it was banging! Best burger I've had in ages lol... Try it I didn't know til half way through my mate told me what I'd done.

Amazing, went here for my 18th birthday, had cocktails and a sharing platter the food was lovely and drinks were great. Also they gave me birthday cheese cake. Thank you so much!!!

Drinks are good but the food is absolutely vile.
Especially avoid the nachos, which come with barely any cheese at all. The cheeseburger is made with cheese squeezed out of a can and tastes horrible. Granted, the place was very busy due to a Spice Girls concert in town, but service was awful

Photographer pointed camera towards people and didn't take photos, and then would act like he had. Just a joke don't waste people's time.

Rudest most stuck up staff imaginable. Go to revs if you wanted to be shouted at and directed around like cattle.
