Appointments take far too long for just a recheck. Spending 4 hours waiting to spend 5 minutes with the dr.... been to other retina centers in different states and never had such a long wait. Also had an issue with a dr who had zero bed side manner. He was rude and short and seemed disinterested in my pain in my eye. He was not my normal dr and I will never go back to that other dr ever.

I am forever thankful for Dr. Luu and his assistants at The retina consultants of Colorado springs, Colorado. It has been a long journey but it has been well worth it, they have made this very comfortable and made sure all of my needs were taken care of while getting my eyesight back to the way it used to be.

Went in for retinal reattachment surgery, that was originally just to fix a tear. They told us we'd have to get a hotel room for a night or more but never gave us a set answer so we could arrange it. Didn't tell us much of anything about the procedure, not how long my wife and kids would be waiting for me, what they would be doing or anything beyond briefly mentioning a gas bubble and maybe a band of some kind before hauling me back. My youngest is a toddler, my wife is pregnant and no one said anything about it now taking 2 hours instead of 20 mins. Told her she couldn't leave at all, no matter the kids getting restless. In the end we ended up completely unprepared and felt like they didn't care about our concerns and barely knew what was happening as everyone had a different answer.

My mother had an app. Today 4-17-18 at 9:30 I got her there on time. We left at 12:30, 3hrs for thr Dr to see her for 4min. I figured it would take an 1 hr or so but three is nuts and it was not just her waiting . If we don't complain this will continue until pt stop going to this office. The staff was and Dr were nice but to many pt at one time.

This is the worst place for being on time with scheduled appointments. My father is 87 years old and it never fails that we have waited a minimum of 1 hour past our appointment time to see the Doctor. I will be looking for some other office for our future appointments because he can't wait that long.

WARNING: BRING snacks/food, water, phone charger, and headphones if you want. You WILL wait anywhere from 1-4 hours. (YES I ve personally waited 4 hours to be seen twice.) The Techs are super nice and so are the doctors. I understand this is the only retinal specialist in southern Colorado. Just come prepared to possibly sit for hours. I was warned but wish I had brought my cellphone charger to help the time pass by quicker.

My macular puckering was repaired and for the first time in over 20 years, my vision is now correctable to 20/20. Very professional office and a smooth process. Dr. Luu is very clear about the process and any risks of surgery.Total satisfaction of a job well done!

After waiting 2 hours, they told me the average appointment takes 2-3 hours. Maybe their practice of making patients wait is to create an in demand ambience. I was told they are the only retina practice in the Springs, Denver doesn t seem as far as it did to me earlier today. My doctor referred me, they called me to come in today and said they didn t want me to wait...LOL.

We've been bringing my wife's mother here for years. Dr Rich is great but the staff is unbelievably rude and uncaring. They demand you sit even if you have back problems that prevent doing so. If you need to walk to prevent your back from stiffening up, they, again, demand you sit. I imagine these folks are all descended from Hitler's military. He would be proud.
Another major issue is they have no respect for their patient's time. My 90-year-old mother-in-law has had to wait for many hours after her appointment time to be seen. The record so far is about four hours. The chairs in the patient waiting room are incredibly uncomfortable so she is usually stiff and in pain after having to sit for so long. Remember, they will throw you in "der cooler" if you attempt to move around.
I will be very glad when we don't have to come here anymore.

Appointment originally scheduled for an early morn...

Appointment originally scheduled for an early morning. Even received a call to confirm the appointment. Then the day before, I get a call telling me they need to cancel. Finally get a call to reschedule. Nothing available for an early morning as I had wanted. Had to choose a 2p appointment. Told the caller I would block out at least 2 hours on my calendar. She told me the appointment would 90 minutes at the most. BIG MISTAKE. I know their track record of delays and long wait periods. That is why I schedule early with them. After 90 minutes and waiting most of that in the 2nd waiting area that follows seeing the tech (waiting for scans before seeing the doc), saw 12-13 patients that came from tech area after me get called for their scans. At least half of them were called back to see the doc and the majority of those people have/were checking out. Waste of time. If you can avoid them...do so at all cost. I walked out. They may be great doctors...but their service is AWFUL. Would not recommend this office unless it is an absolute last resort. They will tell that you signed a form that says appointments take 3-4 hours. I signed nothing today. Maybe the first visit...but still. 3-4 hours for an exam is ridiculous.

Dr Christiansen was just fabulous repairing my eyesight. I went from not being able to see the biggest letters on the eye test to 20/25 vision! I could not be more pleased with both the results as well as the kindness of the staff. Thank you!!

The drs are awesome . Now in the covid area I realize that screening is a must, but the screening lady is rude to older people especially. She told me I could not go in with my mother but just now let a couple in the waiting room together, neither was in need ! She refused to give her name and no name tag.!

Before my first visit to Retina Consultants I read...

Before my first visit to Retina Consultants I read many unflattering reviews. As a business owner I understand the impact of negative reviews, especially unfounded ones. I was treated as a patient for a retina detachment and from the time I walked through the doors until the time I left, I was treated promptly, professionally and respectfully. Many tests and procedures were done and I dealt with up to 5 different staff members, prior to meeting with Dr Wu. They were all outstanding. Dr. Rich performed the surgery and was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure. The entire nursing staff was pleasant and informative. In all I probably had personal contact with 20 different staffers from the time I arrived until I left and they were all fantastic.
My second visit was this morning for a post op follow up and my experience was no different. Do not hesitate to put your full faith and confidence into the this facility. Thanks to everyone I dealt with and also Dr. Wu and Dr. Rich.

This an extremely busy place with lots of same day emergencies and I can see how wait times could get long because of it. I was one of those emergencies and I'm sure someone got pushed back because of it, my apologies. There is no doubt they are committed to excellence.

To the woman who posted about missing 3 appointments, shame on you.

Dr. Ramin was a pleasure to work with, he was very friendly and expressed his concern. I was diagnosed with a rare eye disease with which my family and I were unfamiliar with. When having to call the on-call Doctor though when I had symptoms we were not sure if I should be concerned with we talked with Dr. Mark Chittum. He was rude and expressed that the on-call Doctor was only to be called for emergencies and for severe pain. We did not know if we should be concerned though so he should not have acted like that. Retina Consultants needs to consider having another on-call Doctor on call who is actually willing to help their concerned patients. We are so glad we will not be seeing Dr. Chittum and are seeing Dr. Ramin.

Other than the initial visit on June 9th, to see the doctor and fill out the paper work, I do not think the staff is worth their salt at all. My wife and I showed up 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled appointment, we waited over an hour and asked the ladies at the desk several times what was the hold up. So after an hour of waiting, I asked them to reschedule. They gave me a dumb look and a nurse came out and said "didn't anyone prep you" and I said "NO". So then I ask the ladies behind the desk to call me on the given number to reschedule another appointment and we finally walked out. As of July 21st, still no call. So I called them back to see what the deal was and they were very rude. So I told them to have a nice day and I would take my business somewhere else where they appreciate people and are on time.

Waiting 3+ hours after scheduled appt time to have a 5 to 10 min procedure is ridiculous. Definitely out for the money by constantly overbooking even though they say that is what they are built for. Would not recommend this place.

Was a few minutes early for appt and was told there was at least a hr wait. Wth. Probably scheduled too many people or not enough staff the wait room was uncomfortably full and people were waiting to sit as soon as someone stood up. They get 2 stars just because the dr was decent would not go back unless I absolutely had to

I just received a notice from your offices that I ...

I just received a notice from your offices that I would no longer be accepted as a patient (though you're the only game in town) because of 3 missed appts. I'd like to clarify. I was referred to your office and waited weeks to get my initial consultation. Appt 1 was rescheduled BY YOUR OFFICE due to Covid-19. Appt 2 was during our government's "safer at home" campaign and I never received a reminder call so I assumed your offices were still closed... So I think we can both agree that that can be blamed on miscommunication. Appt 3, well yeah that's on me. I woke up feeling sick and thought it better to stay home while sick DURING A PANDEMIC. I came here and was not surprised to find the less than stellar reviews of your staff and will gladly travel out of town to an office with a greater understanding of the times we are in and doesn't address their issues with passive aggressive CERTIFIED MAIL.

Dr Rich was great, did a good job repairing my Husband's retina, but the other staff were next to useless. This was an emergency situation, so I had to bring my kids as no one could watch them on short notice, especially since we live over an hour away and at lower elevation and we kept being told we'd have to spend a few nights there. Get there, let them do the exam and suddenly get 15 different answers on how long we have to stay. They can't even tell us what surgery is being planned, just keep half mentioning different procedures that go from simple to fully altering his eye. Wouldn't let me talk to Dr. Rich himself so I could get answers. End up being told to come back later for the actual surgery, than when we do they make a huge show of rushing him back and chasing me away, telling me I can't leave at all during but not telling me how long it'll be. Keep in mind, I have a toddler and am pregnant. I ended up having to google for info on what could be happening and times. And hour later they call me to say they still haven't even actually got him into prep and I could've gone to get the kids food. Let just me go see him for a minute. Turns out they'd forgotten he was there and ignored him, leaving him stuck on a bed needing a restroom. I had to get the nurse to let him up as they just walked by ignoring him. They chase me off again, saying they'd let me know when he went in. Don,t hear anything for another hour only to have them pulling me into the back as he's waking up. Finally get told that we need to stay over night by the surgeon, who finally tells me a bit of what happened. Rushed us out of there with basic directions. The next day at the follow up I get actual answers about the altitude thing and going home. Luckily we live at a lower altitude and they have an office in a similar altitude for follow ups, so we could go home. But it took that long to get it, after them telling me I could be stuck for nearly a month the day before. As it was, my husband later told me they'd had issues with the nerve block not working and had completely put him under which they had said wouldn't happen. They only told him even that as they were pulling him back. If you have a choice, go elsewhere. The staff get offended when you ask questions and wont answer anything straight.
