Con: a number of people (some from the same table) claimed to be celebrating birthdays, and had it announced and a song played. This happened like 7 times in a two hour window.

We used to go to the Mandarin Palace regularly, to both eat in and get a take away, and we loved it. I wasn't aware until recently that the take away was open after the fire, so we drove in 15 miles especially. If our meal last night is anything to go by, we won't be there again for anything :( Terribly disappointed with the quality. We had Phoenix rolls and prawn toast that tasted absolutely awful and must have been made days ago and re-heated. They went straight into the bin. Nothing at all like what was served from MP in the past.
We also purchased 4 main meals, including curry, fried rice and a sweet & sour dish. The chicken balls were overdone, soggy and/or re-heated - nothing at all like they used to be. We were all so disappointed!
If the restaurant is re-opening at the end of this month (as we were told) a serious look at quality will have to be involved. This was one of the worst meals we've ever paid for!

The family have been coming here to the Mandarin for years on special occasions, lovely decor & waterfront views.
Fantastic lively atmosphere at weekends with Elvis singing & friendly staff & delicious food.
My favorite aromatic duck with pancakes & honey chilli chicken with yung chow fried rice hits the spot all the time!

Food was disappointing and nothing special to be honest. Both of us had a chicken dish and both chicken was full of Gristley Sinews. You know the White Tendon that comes in pieces of chicken, well they never bothered to remove it so it was pretty disgusting. Other people have experienced the same, from reading different reviews.

Ordered a takeaway from mandarin palace last night, took over an hour and when it came, the portion of chips was half a small bag and the chips were crispy, half portion of rice as a side and the chicken curry was like soup! Love the mandarin palace takeaway menu but i think i will try somewhere else next time.

Ordered tempura prawns and was brought to us in a thick greasy batter and announced as "prawn balls". Then ordered chicken and cashew nuts in a bird's nest which should be noodles but it was a greasy blob made from filo pastry and the rice tasted off. Service was awful... customer service didn't save the food... looking forward to a night of food poisoning.
