Breakfast was good. It was basically the same thing everyday, but it was a great spread.

Pool is warm and has a hot tub (and kiddie pool). Hot tub didn't "bubble" 90% of the time.

Also, the pool is in the center, so is SUPER loud at night for all of the rooms facing the pool.

GREAT central location to the zoo, Sea World, Belmont Park, Trader Joe's and several other places.

This was our 3rd stay here. We always come back because the 2bdrm suites are spacious and clean. Pool and jacuzzi area were well heated and clean. Pool towels were on the scarce side, but refilled throughout the day and night. My only minor complaint would be the complimentary breakfast has been slipping our last few trips. Pastery and bread selections were not as abundant and varied as previous trip and only one of four days were potatoes supplied. Otherwise it was a great stay and I will return.

Absolutely horrible stay! Someone' s cigarette smoke was so horribly strong that permeated my room. I had to put a towel down under the door gap to TRY to keep that horrid smell from inflaming a sinus infection that i had tackled with natural remedies, but stood no chance against that..virtually got no sleep to speak of. Had no dry bath towel this AM ( They only provided 3, one was used under the door and the other 2 were damp from 3 showers I had take for the steam to rid my nose of that disgusting odor.

Staff were so unhelpful in resolving it. They never found out who it was (though they smelled it as well) and additionally, failed to pass it on to the next shift.

Having Fibromyalgia, I am essentially highly allergic to cigarette smoke coupled with the sinus infection, it was so uncalled for!
Sleep is all I wanted and PAID FOR. It totally impacts my immune system if I don't get it and I did not consent to that with my dollars or signatures.
There is plenty they could have done!

I could not get through to the front desk at 3:30 am. Called several times.
Called back at 5:30 am and the desk clerk said he had been doing breakfast duty and was away.

He promised the GM would contact me at 7:30 to help make it right.
I confirmed asking him to ask the GM to leave a voice mail message on my cell phone in case I could sleep. He agreed.
Not only had the GM not done so, but even after having left that hotel hours ago, the "GM" (can he really be called that?) "who was aware of my situation but in and out of meetings" has NEVER even contacted me since.
I had to call Mr Mariott's office myself and inform the secretary all that transpired and it was more than I have time to write now.

But she concured it was NOT handled on many levels as it should have been.
Shame on this hotel for a lack of what should matter most in a business: compassion and solid ethics, trwating hotel guests like they matter. Because without guests, of course, they have no job.
Im wondering wholeheartedly why they still do here.
Defunct is an understatement. But even worse, they are uncaring here, specifically management.

I'd suggest considering an alternative brand that values high quality, professionalism and responsive resolution.
You know, AKA, common human decency.

The management staff is very friendly and accommodating; everyone who works there was nothing but helpful and friendly. I do have a couple complaints based on staying over 50 Marriott nights per year. The property has very thin walls, we could hear everyone around us all the time. It is hard staying in a hotel like that with small children as even when quiet they are noisier than adults! The housekeeping was okay; they didn't clean the room very well as counters still dirty, floor not mopped, carpet hastily vacuumed, but they did make the beds and change out the towels. The property needs some maintenance. The staff keeps it very clean but there are issues like poor functioning elevators and my tub that was backing up each night with someone above us' bath water.

I absolutely love this hotel, every time we take a trip to San Diego I make sure I stay at this Residence Inn. The service is amazing, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast is a breakfast I would recommend having on vacation.

My family visited the Hotel and stay for 3weeks. The entire time at the hotel was great, the staff, manager, everyone that worked there was tremendous. I would recommend anyone visiting San Diego to stay here. Be sure to book you a room plenty of time in advance it's always booked. AAAA+ for sure...Entertainment for kids and family complimentary breakfasts daily, dinner Monday-Thursday, it allowed us to save hundreds on buying food. We will stay here everytime we're in San Diego.

Great hotel! Had absolutely zero issues with the hotel itself.

I have to give 3 stars because they won't offer a transit to go to Old Town to get on the trolley. You have to take the super slow Trolley Bus over to Fashion Valley and get on there.

Edit to response: The MTS bus has to go over to Fashion Valley first. I would highly recommend not walking to the Transit center either, as there's no sidewalk from exit 3 to Presidio Dr. and absolutely takes more than 10 minutes.

The evening food and drinks by the pool were great to come back to after being out and about in San Diego. Highly recommend this hotel. Cant wait for our vacation this year.

Conveniently located. Very clean. Good breakfast (real eggs). They do charge for parking and not sure why because nothing in the immediate area warrants it. Big rooms. Full frigde, real coffee maker, toaster, cooktop, microwave, and dishwasher. Be careful they clean rooms early, I went down for breakfast and when I got back the maid was in the room.

Beautiful facilities in a very central location to many of San Diego's attractions! We found that the breakfast was very delicious and had a large variety to offer the pool was very warm and the hot tub was very hot which was awesome! They have a really nice reception during the daytime that you can go and get complimentary drinks and snacks. The rooms were a little small but we found that they still worked for what we needed. Overall very nice!

The room was pretty up to date and clean, though some areas needed repair. I had trouble maintaining a connection to the free WiFi. The connection would drop after a few minutes. Breakfast was great and staff was friendly. Parking was always limited.

Mission Valley Residence Inn is very enjoyable lodging in a relaxing setting. The suites are efficient with mini kitchens (no oven), private bdrm with queen bed, sofa bed in living room, and allows pets. The lodging is set up a hill, away from freeway noise, has a carded gate-arm to parking for security, and has visitor parking along the hill and in front of the office entrance. The entrance hill has a grassy area w/ sidewalk for dog walking. There's free breakfast and Happy Hour, pool and whirlpool spa, a small market, and a very friendly & hospitable staff. It was a wonderful two week stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were standard Residence Inn rooms, and the breakfast buffet was well stocked. However, there were a few issues. A dripping pipe kept making the bathroom floor wet. This was brought to the staff's attention multiple times, but never resolved. The parking situation is awful. Not enough spots, most were barely big enough for a compact. Also the fitness center was closed due to renovations.

My parents stay here every time they visit us several times a year. Unfortunately, most room surround the pool and there's always lots of guests since it's in Hotel Circle but the rooms always nice and their breakfast isn't bad.

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Parking was tight but I always had an available space close to my entry door. The pool was clean and the staff was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was great as it included everything from bacon to cereal-and it was all inclusive. Easy access to all major attractions like the San Diego Zoo and the pier. Overall, it was worth the $$ spent!

The lobby was very clean, friendly staff who are willing to help you out for whatever you may need. Beds were pretty comfortable, has an outdoor pool in the center courtyard. Odd having to leave the lobby to get to rooms though. You also have to pay about $15 a night for parking (which is a bit nuts). Hot breakfast was exactly what you would expect, eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal.

VERY NOISY hotel. We could clearly hear the jokes and laghing sound from the next room.
Check out process was OK. We reserved 2 rooms , were told one of our room was not ready at 4 PM.
It was ready in minutes, later we found the room was not very clean. Both the kids stayed at that room feel sick (one at the trip and the other while returning). I'm used to stay many hotels, but this hotel does not live up to the star rating provided so far.
Only consolation we got while staying at this hotel was the full break fast.

This is the fifth time we book an apartment with residence inn (being prefered choice) but this location is by far below expectations. We booked room with "limited view" to learn later it actually facing a green wall. Odd oder in the room. There is no sound isolation you can literally hear a phone vibrates above you. carpet and sofas are heavily stained. Staff didnt honor request for changing to different room.

Great facility. We came for a 2 night stay and we got the 2 bedroom suite with bunk beds. It was nice having a room for the kids when my husband and I could move around and watch TV or read without waking them up. The kitchenette was also great. The decor is updated and nice. We had a room facing the freeway and we heard nothing. They had a very nice hot breakfast with a big selection and a cute little kid eating area. It is crowded but that wasn't a surprise. They have a jacuzzi, pool, and a small toddler pool with little sprinklers that is warmer than the regular pool - perfect for little ones. It was clean, smelled nice, and the front staff was always accomodating. We needed a portacrib and they were there within 5 minutes. Extra towels? Done without delay. Late check-in request at 11pm the night before? done. I cannot recommend this hotel enough for families.

As usual we love the Residence inn. It is like having a little condo. When traveling with kids this is hands down the best place we have found. There is plenty of room, the staff is friendly and helpful. When we are on business we spend a lot of time in our room and the extra space makes it a not only doable but pleasant stay. I highly recommend this place for traveling families.
