Reisterstown Boarding Kennel Review

This is a fantastic facility. My two girls love coming here for day care and grooming. And I know when I am out of town and the girls are here that they are getting the best care possible. I have been bringing Blue and Babette here for the past seven years since I moved back to the area.

Until today I have never used any services at BRK but with the excellent care my cat received I will definitely be back!!! My cat had a situation due to being allergic to wet food and was a mess! I called in the morning and spoke to someone on the phone that was very helpful. He said to bring my cat in and they would see what they could do. The groomer was excellent and without getting into too much detail the groomer removed some hair under the tail with clippers and removed the nasty stuff that was stuck in kitty's fur. Kitty is very happy and I'm very happy to have that issue over!! Thank you RBK your the best!!

Excellent service, easy schedule, dropoff and pick ups. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable... I drive 30 mins to leave my Mac here. They would get 5 stars if the grooming service was better

I have been coming here for years. I have 3 (used to have 4) special pups! The staff from grooming (Brittany), to the welcome crew to everyone that is behind the scenes, are not only friendly and helpful to me but take better care of my pups better than I do (not really but pretty close)

Good care and keeps our cat on special diet per instructions.

Our pet has not actually boarded at RBK yet, but we hope he will be accommodated on the dates requested. Based upon the wonderful tour provided by Laura, the general appearance of the kennel, and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff...we can say that we are quite impressed.

Our pup had a great time at RBK Pet Resort & Spa! He came home happy and tired so we know he enjoyed playing with other pups during his activity time! Thanks for taking great care of our little guy!

I started using them for daycare when we moved to Hanover, PA. I work very close to them so it is actually very convenient to have my pup stay there while I am at work. The best part about this place, so far, is that they have so much outdoor space for dogs to run and play!! Our last daycare was in the burbs in a warehouse with little outdoor space, so this is a real treat. The staff is great and so friendly. They have multi-day packages to save you money if you want to become a regular. Staff is taking some good precautions during COVID-19, as well; curbside pickup and dropoff only and staff is wearing masks to and from cars.

I was reserving my review until I saw pictures of my pet hopefully enjoying his first time at RBK. But since there is only 1 picture of him, which he looks stressed in, I will base my review off of the way I was treated and the condition my pet was returned in. I was skeptical about this place to begin with and truly wish I hadn't left my dog there. I had a few questions when I dropped my dog off because he had never been boarded before and I wanted to make sure he was in good hands. I inquired about the group play and the time length, after being informed that group play could be 20 minutes or less, I opted to pay the additional 20 dollars a day for daycare. The way it was explained to me was that my dog would be able to interact in different play groups, go out multiple times and have access to the pool, seemed like a great deal to me until my Mother asked if she could see where my dog would be boarded. Thats when the attendant that was helping me asked Morgan if she could show my Mother where my pet would be boarded and Morgan gave the rudest response, her "customer service" is horrible. After that I really didn't want to leave my dog there but I had no options because I was going out of town. Only after I inquired about updates, was I told that first time guests would be emailed pictures of my pets stay. Again, Morgan corrected the attendant that was helping me, and said pictures would not be emailed but I could check Facebook or google+ for first time pictures, like she was personally doing me a favor. I just did not have a good feeling about leaving my pet and rightfully so. When I picked him up of course Morgan was working the front desk and after she asked " can I help you?" as soon as I opened the door, she then blurts out the total for my pets stay before I could even approach the front desk. Some discrepancy should be practiced, it shouldn't be you walk through the door and someone yells your total in front of other customers. Then, when they bring my dog out only is it explained to me that he just got a cut on his nose, which I highly doubt, taking him out of the kennel. when I called to check on my dog they could have told me that. Every question I asked was a short rude answer, and the "report card" is a joke. I left feeling like my dog was kenneled most of the time and he has a abrasion on his nose that still hasn't healed. I thought perhaps if I saw the pictures of him playing and I could see that he did get some time out of is kennel, which is what I paid for, I would feel at ease but that is not the case. I WOULD NOT USE RBK AGAIN. I'm really pissed so please excuse the typos and grammatical errors

UPDATE
After speaking with one of the owners, Jason, I feel it is necessary to update my earlier post. Although I am not happy with what occurred previously, I would be remiss if I did not share how Jason handled the situation. For starters we talked for over an hour, and during that hour he never made one excuse, he was only apologetic and wanted to fully explain to me how the process should have gone and what will be done in future to avoid what happened to me. He totally diffused the situation and provided the best customer service I have experienced. it is amazing what a kind and caring voice can do to turn a situation around. Jason even asked me to apologize to Bentley on behalf of him and the staff, which I did, because it is true that pets can feel the energy even if he has no clue who I'm referring to. Not only did Jason take the time to answer all of my questions, but I was given a full refund for Bentleys stay, which I truly did not expect, he also offered to cover the vet expense should Bentley need to be seen. Bentleys nose is healing so I don't foresee him needing to see the vet but it was very kind of him to offer that. In all, I'm happy that Jason reached out to me and took my post very serious, my perception of RBK has changed based from our conversation. If you cannot tell already, Jason completely changed my mind and I will give RBK another chance in the future.

The only place I trust to watch my boy! I have boarded and use the puppy day care. Everyone treats their guests as if it were a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend!

We have been using RBK since it was a little building with only 2 employees. They are very attentive to our pets' needs and love our pets as much as we do.

Great home away from home for our pups Betty and Humphrey. Great people, great facility. Our dogs return home in great shape.

We have been trusting RBK with our dogs for over 10 years. The staff is amazing- they recognize my girls when we show up and they love them like they are their own. My dogs run in and never look back! Grooming services are also fantastic! I highly recommend RBK !

My dog stayed at RBK for 5 days/4 nights. I called to check on him daily (with the exception of Sunday since they are closed.. which is another reason I wouldn't recommend this kennel. Pet owners should be able to reach someone any day their pet is in the care of someone else). I was told my dog was totally fine and settled in nicely every time I called, including the morning of the day he came home. When he came home, he had horrible diarrhea and would not eat his food. This is a dog who has NEVER had issues turning away food... he's actually so food motivated that we had to buy a slow feeder, which I communicated to the staff at check in. I purposely packed his own food so he would stay on the same diet while we were away in case he got stressed so we would be assured that his diet was consistent. When I called RBK the 2nd day after my dog came home and he was still not eating and could not bark because his throat seemed to be bothering him, I was told he probably barked all weekend long which they said explains his scratchy bark. This contradicts the reports I was given every time I called saying he settled in nicely. My dog is not a barker - I have used other day care facilities that have webcams so I've seen him laying quietly in his crate while other dogs are barking. They also said he was probably turning his nose up to the dry food since he was given canned food mixed with his dry food; some policy the person who I spoke with when I called said they have for new dogs to get them to eat when they are new and staying for a few days. None of this was ever communicated to me ahead of time. When you sign up for boarding, you have the option to use their food or send your own. Given I instructed the kennel to use a slow feeder for him, I'm not sure why there would be concerns about getting him to eat his food and even if there was, they should not make decisions to add other food to your dog's diet without checking with you first. Many dogs have sensitive stomachs and would not tolerate changing up their food, especially when they are already under stressful conditions. To me, this does not show good decision making on the part of the kennel which is supposed to have professionals who are well-versed in caring for dogs. I ended up having to take my dog to the vet, put him on a special diet with probiotics and after a few days he was finally back to himself.

RBK is fantastic. My sheltie loves the people and is so comfortable there. They do a great job with play times, grooming and other special features. It is wonderful knowing I never have to worry about her when we are away.

A safe and secure facility for our dogs. We have peace of mind when our dogs stay at Reisterstown Pet Resort and Spa. Also recommend the grooming service.

My wife and I had not taken an extended trip for 3 years due to other kennels issues.RBK was unbelievable. When we picked up our 15 year old dog he was better than we dropped him off. He came home happy,motivated. I think RBK made him feel right at home. Now that's a kennel. We thank you so much. See you soon!!!!

All of the staff are friendly and seem knowledgeable and trustworthy. I'm glad I have a place to take my dog so she doesn't have to be in the crate all day!

Cant say enough good about RBK. Bobby (the owner) went above and beyond before our recent kenneling experience.

Our boy had kenneled before, but just developed seizures a few months before his scheduled stay, and so I was understandably worried that kenneling stressers could potentially bring on more seizures. I called Bobby to alert him, and he was very reassuring indicating the policy for such conditions, and the measures he personally would take to minimize the likelihood of recurrence.

To compound matters, we unexpectedly needed to take ownership of a 2nd dog the week prior to kenneling. He adjusted our reservation, and made every effort to accommodate our needs. We even stopped by for a "visit" beforehand in an effort to familiarize the dogs to the kennel during which time he gave us a personal walk-thru of where the dogs would co-kennel.

Sadly, our circumstances again changed the day prior when we needed to abruptly surrender the newly aquired 2nd dog....a dog which our dog had known for years, and would no doubt mourn the absence of.

On arrival the day of kenneling, we were needless to say both saddened of the circumstances and concerned for our dogs well being in lieu of the recent happenings. Bobby and the desk staff were professional in acknowledging the change, but did not focus on it. Instead,...they spoke only about our boy again reassuring me that they would give him the added attention to lessen the stressors of kenneling, provide comfort and distractions for the mourning, and reassurance that they would be mindful of his new medical conditions.

We did not speak during my dogs stay, but i was reassured by the staff that Bobby reported our boy was doing well considering the circumstances. We picked him up 11 days later, ...he was both happy & healthy....no seizures, happy playtime, and well fed.

The team at RBK was professional, accommodating and attentive to my dogs individual needs....in fact, I couldnt be happier, and just sent an email inquiry for our next reservation request.

They are great. My dog gets so excited as the car turns on the road they are on to get out of the car because he loves it so much.They are very kind and understanding and very helpful. I am a very nervous about leaving my puppies any where but the first time I came here they made me feel like I was leaving him with family. Thank you RBK for being just you.

Brittany did a grooming appointment on my shy doodle this week and I must say my doodle has never looked better! I am very impressed with how well she did with the hair cut. Brittany was very easy and gentle with her! I will recommend her to any other doodle parents.

This place alleviated my fears of leaving my baby girl with anyone other than myself. They listened to my dog's needs and took measures to ensure her comfort and well being. For instance, my dog freaks out with other dogs. So the staff placed my dog at an end unit and put up a curtain so she could not see other dogs. Wow. Now that is 5 star service and shows the staff truly cares. I will definitely use this place again.

They took my very grumpy cat in after a house fire and they were so very loving to her. It made the whole experience so easy and calming for both the cat and myself!

Our pets loved this place. The staff was great and very gentle with our dogs. We felt assured that they would be well taken care of and treated as we would be. I highly recommend this facility.

RBK takes amazing care of my two Wires - 14.5 years old and 10 years old. The staff is courteous, always helpful and so caring about my two darlings. I have boarded my dogs with them for years and trust them implicitly.

Ella is always tired from play times, but a very happy girl. Loves everyone there! They're always so considerate and caring.

RBK is our dog's home away from home. She goes to the Doggie Daycare and we Board her there as well. Our dog is always, always happy to go in! She loves the staff and they're obviously very good to her. Indoor and outdoor pool, a huge outdoor play area with tunnels and stacks of hay. It's a glorious place for dogs to stay and play!

My dog loves it here. Its a bit out of the way for me but I dont mind the drive as I feel my dog is well taken care of. She has separation anxiety and often freaks out when I leave her with anyone but she has no problem going with the workers at RBK because she loves daycare so much. Thanks for taking great care of Nova! :)

I have been using RBK for grooming and boarding for over 10 years. My dogs are happy to be there and we are treated like family. The groomers make my dogs look like show dogs yet my dogs are never stressed after their grooming appointments. My experiences are always exceptional.

Let me just say that this is an amazing facility and my pup loves to go here. They take such good care of her. Sugar was so shy and unsure when she first started going, but their love and patience with her have allowed her to grow and bloom there. She gets excited when I say "do you want to go to day care?" And when I pick her up she is exhausted and takes a long nap. Totally recomend it!

Place isn t open on Sundays! Not sure how comfortable u can be with a place that has your pet that isn t open 7 days a week, and U can t pick up your pet on a Sunday if that s the day u choose.

I love this place! Our 85 pound bulloxer is a rescue dog with anxiety, has seasonal and food allergies, and is dog aggressive, but RBK took great car of her. I've always heard horror stories about kennels and rescue dogs, but we got our girl back as happy and well taken care of as when we dropped her off. Definitely will be using them again.

I can't image taking my fur babies anywhere else! They love it and I love that I know they are safe and well taken care of.

We are very happy to take our German Shepherd to RBK for what we call sleep away camp . He loves the play time and attention he gets and he makes a new friend each time he visits. On his last stay, Sarge made friends with Sam, a female shepherd. From what we heard they had a great time playing together! We get detailed reports on how he is doing when we call in, from his eating habits to his socializing. The staff has always been very friendly and caring and we couldn t ask for more than that. Sarge always gets a bath and his nails clipped and comes home looking (and smelling) good. We highly recommend RBK!

I ve used Reisterstown more than once to care for and/or board my pets. I wholeheartedly recommend them and trust the staff to take best care of my dog and cat!

Best pet resort in the area! The care our dog gets is excellent. I wouldn t take her anywhere else. They even take fantastic care of our hedgehog. I highly recommend RBK!

I ve used RBK 3 times for my 95 lb pittie, Gracie Mae. She is anxious and unsure of people and other dogs. They always take great care of her and she comes home happy.

Love RBK for grooming and boarding. Recommend to all of my friends looking for their services. Our older dog loves it there and rushes to go back to the boarding area. Our younger dog is a bit nervous upon arrival and they do everything they can to help her feel comfortable

Wow- this place is amazing! My two dogs have been staying at RBK for a couple months while our home is being worked on. The facility is extremely clean and the staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. We have visited the dogs a handful of times (since they have been there so long and we miss them) and every single staff member know our dogs by name. One of my dogs has horrible separation anxiety and he looked so happy and healthy! Bobby has taken such good care of both the dogs and always lets us know how they are doing. The facility is very large and when we visit the dogs there is literally no dog poop outside in the fields - that is how clean this place is. Our dogs are truly happy at this place and I have no doubt they are being spoiled by the staff! I would 110% recommend this place to anyone who loves their pets as much as we do and get worried leaving them for a long period of time - this staff will definitely take care of your pets! They have an outside pool which one of our dogs loves and they also have this huge maze for the dogs to run around in! Each of our dogs have their own little cage with a seperate area for their beds. Very cool place and great staff!

Today I brought my little pug mix to day care for the first time. I've had a negative experience with another doggie daycare so I was uneasy. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed kind, but there are a few things I wish could happen...First, the play area is in the back of the building so I can't watch Pudge play. I'm not asking to hang out all day, but just long enough for me to see him running around enjoying himself. I'd just feel more confident. After all, he can't tell me. :-) A text with a picture now and then would be great, also, and would put my mind at ease.
I didn't receive any kind of written report so I don't know how many times he got to go out. I just got a verbal report saying he had a great time and made friends with a chihuahua and Boston terrier. I tend to be skeptical because of my recent bad experience. It would be GREAT if you could put in a web cam. I'll bet many other pet parents would appreciate that, too. Thanks!

RBK is an awesome place! My golden retriever Jameson (13 months) comes here almost 2 x a week and enjoys his day playing with his new friends. Jameson spent his first overnight stay and enjoyed it! High 5 PAW!

I have been boarding my dogs at RBK for approximately 12 years. Overall, I am very happy with their care. The staff are very polite and friendly. Only reason I can't give 5 stars is the inconvenience of not being able to pick up and drop off my pets on Sunday. I struggle with having to pick them up on Monday after a week long vacation when I have to go to work. With this being said, I have recently been looking into other kennels with Sunday hours.

Really happy with these guys. Super kind to our pups and professional over all.

I have not tried the boarding services but the grooming staff is excellent. Our dogs have special grooming needs (a lot of brushing) and they are very accommodating unlike shops that only specialize in scissors and clippers.

I have been coming to RBK for many many yrs first with my prior dog Taj and now we are always at RBK with my pup, Dylan. We utilize doggy daycare which is awesome, boarding and Dylan gets groomed as well at RBK. The staff is AMAZING!!! RBK is just an awesome place for your dog. I don't know what I would do without RBK. Highly recommend RBK. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else EVER!!!

The staff is accommodating and helpful to me and interact well with my dog. I love when she is greeted by staff who know and love her! I appreciate the wide range of services and activities they provide pets, including grooming and occasional daycare. My dog has been groomed expertly by Keri for a dozen years for a very reasonable fee. I could have had her groomed far closer to home, but it's worth the drive. The reason I did not give 5 stars was because I wish that the kennel were open on Sundays for pickups and drop-offs. It pains me (and my wallet) to have to have my dog in the kennel longer than necessary.

Simply a tremendous operation. I know when leaving our dog with them that's he's in great hands and will have a good time.

We take Hank here for boarding and grooming. I have the utmost confidence in all of the staff. They truly care about all of the dogs and cats.

Our pup goes just once or twice a year. He jumps out of the car to go in and is all smiles when we pick him up.

It s sad when a business switches ownership that it sometimes it looses character. This place was a fabulous choice when Bobby owned and operated it. I called to make a reservation and was told I couldn t drop my dog off on Sunday... Well Bc Bobby and myself had a great customer/owner relationship I of course asked if I could speak with him or if they could make an exception bc I didn t want to leave him anywhere else, but I was told Bobby sold the business. Oh no! They really lost my trust by not allowing pickups/drop offs on Sundays. It makes me question the attention the dogs get on Sundays. This is the type of business that needs to be open and operating 7 days a week. I hope they switch this bc my mom and I both have decided to no longer board our dogs here. If ur boarding Mon-Fri u might be ok.... idk
