My friend Doug was a professional snowboarder. He now works @Graham Construction LLC. here in Ballard/Queen Anne. His Dad got him into it after the decade of traveling the circuit. We live around idiots sisters and brothers. What mentally ill person rated REI as a 1! Re-creation equipment has always been #1 since 1935! Google needs to strike the 1 ratings and sensor ill people from rating a legend of a store. My favorite brick and mortar more store. I can't climb a rock on Amazon. I can learn or see and touch@ REI.Thanks for all D 75118..
This is the best REI store around. It's huge with large selection. I can't wait until they open up full capacity again. Membership is worth the privledges.
It's huge! My only concern is that it feels like a maze, but it is truly an experience. If you want quick go to a smaller store. The downtown store is not a quick shop. Come for the experience come to enjoy it. I bought shoes here a couple weeks ago, and I was very impressed by the patience and knowledge of the staff members. They didn't just try to sell me the most expensive shoes. They wanted me to find the right shoe for me. They have weird sizes for big or extra wide feet. I didn't have to order online without trying them on.
I used to order online for pickup at the Boulder store. Did the same here and it turns out pickup is at a distant underground underserved location in the store. Long wait. Not ordering online anymore.
the seattle store was actually a good experience and i aopreciate that. i had just left the bellevue store and they were of zero help and extremely rude and ignorant about it as well, so wasnt sure what to expect in seattle. i was very happy with service from everyone i dealt with and i talked to numerous staff. thank you all.
This is the biggest REI I've ever been to. They even have an indoor climbing wall. I went there to rent a tent and sleeping bag but just be warned that they run out of rental gear pretty fast so it's safest to reserve before your trip.
Amazing store all the things you would ever need, beautiful displays and a great presentation. These stores are an attraction a new experience every time I visit one. Also unlike other rei stores you have to ask for help you need to track down an employee to get help, exept for Tim he was awesome and was the first to ask if we needed help after being in the store about two hours. Tim was awesome!
I read in today's Seattle Times that REI is going to open stores in the Seattle area and is not requiring face masks to protect its employees and customers from COVID exposure. I always thought that REI was concerned about health and safety, but I guess not. I will never shop there again.
Flagship store, huge selection, helpful non-pressure sales staff, beautiful huge open interior, cozy open air fireplace outside and a test track to ride bikes on.
Very patient and kind staff in their shoes department. They spent good 3 hrs with my husband helping him select hiking boots. They even brought us some snacks while we were there
If you're looking for excellence in customer service, REI is the place to go. Their staff is amazingly knowledgeable and will take all the time you need to get a comprehensive understanding of whatever outdoor equipment you're purchasing. They are a member owned cooperative and it shows!
This place is a Mecca like destination for outdoor enthusiasts in the Pacific NW. The park setup with hiking and mountain bike trails creates an oasis of nature right in the heart of South Lake Union. Plus, it's REI, so you're getting top quality stuff from one of the world's best known outfitters.
This place is really cool, free parking for 1 hour, cheap parking afterwards. There is a short tail you can test bikes on and a huge rock wall. The walk up to the main store from the garage feels very woodsy and fits the theme of the store. My only complaint is that the prices are pretty high and the staff seems a bit overworked.
This is basically a theme park for yuppie weekend warriors, but with free parking and helpful staff it is my go-to place for gear - whenever there's a sale, otherwise it's super expensive.
Love REI! One of the best places to get outdoor gear from hiking, climbing, riding bikes and camping. This location has a large man-made rock wall you can climb. There is also an outdoor walkway to test out your hiking shoes before purchase.
Flag ship store. 2 story with lots of selections. Nice place to spend a couple of hours either day dreaming or planning your next adventure. Stock up on gear. We came on garage sale weekend and found great prices. The fireplace in the center is a great place to sit while you wait on the rest of your shopping partners.
I love this place..it has everything you need to be outdoorsy. It's more expensive than other places but you can find great deals in their garage sale and online Black Friday sales. Every now and then they send you discounts and gift cards if you become their member. Membership fee is 20 bucks and you can return any shopping item you don't like for a full refund
Top-quality products, but be sure to meticulously check your receipt every time. I made several trips to REI this month as it's near my house and I needed supplies for a bike trip. The first time I purchased two items ($14.95 and $3.00) and got charged $27 after tax. Quickly discovered the register was charging $19.95 and $3.50 for each, and the clerk had to manually override it. When I went back the next day, I purchased a jacket because the brand was 70% off "the marked price" for the July 4th sale. The coat was "originally $70.83," but two price reductions later, it was selling at "now $34.83." I got charged the latter price (which clearly wasn't even 70% off the original price), and when I complained about the false advertising, the clerk tried to sell me some story about the actual original price being $100-something. IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL, THIS STORE WILL OVERCHARGE YOU!
Open with the observation of COVID-19 safety precautions. Lines to be anticipated, bring your mask, give folks space, consider online orders instead of shopping.
Pretty impressed with the store. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The location is quite convenient. There's a large assortment of items, climbing wall, and mountain bike trial course.
The surrounding "urban forest" is great for testing bikes. The store itself is huge and includes a climbing wall. Great place to look for outdoor gear.
Basically the mothership! I have never been into an outdoor gear retailer as large as REI that just specializes in outdoor attire and goods. The place is like a minnie theme park for outdoor gea and you really can end up spending hours there, no joke!
the staff are super friendly and most of all very knowledgeable about the their area of expertise and if they do not have an answer, they get another staff member to assist. It really is the one-stop-shop. The venue is incredible and even if you are not into outdoor gear it's still worth the trip to stop in and check it out.
Being the flagship store, it s the biggest one I ve ever seen and is ran incredibly well. I ve gotten fantastic expert advice here and been able to sign up for recreation classes. Highly recommended
Bike repair shop is very helpful providing caste off parts. I collect inner tubes, bike chains and other parts to be re-used in Africa. That is real up-cycling! There is a mountain stream outside!
First time at a REI, and I like it a lot more than Cabelas or Bass Pro shops back home. Ropes, tools, gear and utilities. Also its probably due to this focussing more on adventure camping than hunting/camping.
Bought a Columbia 3 in 1 for fair clearence price. Initially I had doubts as I didn't want to spend the money on something I didn't think would last the Chicago winters. Me being from the south, I don't have a decent gauge on what's needed and what's overboard. However the sales guy drop some knowledge on me to ensure the type I'm looking at would work for the environment. Can't wait to test it out next winter.
Greatt selection of outdoor gear! The store itself is truly amazing complete with a bike test trail, climbing wall, bike repair shop, water sports area, restaurant, and the first corporately maintained forest in Seattle.
Came to return a top with my father and Shirley at the return/exchange counter was extremely rude. We should have apologized for inconveniencing her with doing her job. If your customer service interactions include rolling eyes and big sighs you probably need to look for a new job, Shirley.
Pretty cool to check out the flagship location of REI as an East Coast native. It's a good store, but ask someone where things are. It's easy to get lost otherwise.
I used to like REI, but they've fallen a long way in the past few years. They've become so concerned with loss prevention that they've refused to honor their warranty at times. Even worse, they shortened their "lifetime" guarantee to just one year! The main draw of REI, despite their vastly inflated prices, was the knowledge that if your gear failed they would cover it. Now, if it doesn't fail in its first season you're out of luck. No longer worth the $$$, for any reason. I'll be canceling my membership to show my dissatisfaction.
On my last visit, I returned a pair of pants that had pockets rip out after less then a year of actual useage. After repairing them twice myself the seams started ripping, so I brought it in for replacement. They tried to tell me it was normal wear & tear -- Right, not falling for that one guys. They did refund them, but not without numerous condescending remarks and implying that I don't know how to take care of equipment. I'm an ultralight backpacker, I KNOW how to handle lightweight gear. And it's rather telling that this is the only piece of gear I've had trouble with. Also, I was given this treatment despite buying over $100 of new gear at the same time. Needless to say, I won't be returning to REI for any future sales.
Some of the floor personnel are helpful & knowledgeable, but with all the changes it's just not worth it. Go to the store to get some advice and try out gear if you like, but go somewhere else for the actual purchase - you'll save a lot of money and won't lose out on much at all.
Lloyd Anderson would be ashamed to see what his company has become.
This is the flagship REI store in downtown Seattle. For an in depth look at any product line available, this is the best branch to visit, we occasionally drive over from the Eastside. For example, looking for a new bike, they have an outdoor test track unlike any other REI. Looking at backpacks, unbelievable stock on hand to try out. The helpful employees and quality gear are all standard, but when online shopping is not going to answer your questions, and you want hands on time with many options, this is the store to go to. Parking garage isn't great, but 1st hour free, self service pay kiosk on the way out, all in all worth it for the experience.
Got a roof rack installed on my car. My appointment started right on time and Chris did a great job on the installation and gave me a demo once it was complete. The whole experience was professional and courteous. Thanks REI.
REI is an institution in the outdoor recreation world for a reason. All the gear, savvy staff, and a crazily awesome facility. I love REI. And if you're into the outdoors, you will too.
This store is what every outdoor store should model! The staff is super knowledgable, the selection of gear is huge, and the space is really really cool. I stopped in one day to ask about a local hiking trail and ended up having one of the best hikes of my year!
Smooth operation with curbside pickup. Definitely worth ordering ahead and using this service (even with the 3 day processing time). While picking up I saw a line outside that must have had a couple hundred people waiting to do in store shopping due to limited capacity rules!!
Awesome place to shop for all your outdoor activities. It s near downtown Seattle. The store is quite huge given that it is quite near downtown. The staffs are super helpful and more importantly full of informations. This location also holds classes for both members and non members. The parking is also reasonable. Importantly, the prices are reasonable and lots of variety. I am definitely coming back.
Having been to several REI stores around the country, this one certainly takes the cake. Not only is this space world class, The service and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always going to help. Seattle is certainly a granola city, so you can expect to find most of your answers under one roof. This location also has the prize possession of the gear loft, used and discounted products for your choosing. REI holds their brand to a higher standard than I think most other companies, I would hope that you don't need her writing to prove to you that they've done a great job with they're flagship store :)
Superb! The design and layout is amazing very well worth a look, regardless of whether you re looking to acquire new gear, or consider new projects. Great place.
Absolutely huge REI store. Largest selection of any outdoor store I have ever been to. Plenty of ski and snowboard stuff, hiking gear, climbing equipment, and outdoor clothing. Tons of parking in the parking garage, and some street parking as well. The clearance section is massive as well.
This REI is huge so much detail, love the trail outside. The only thing that sucked was the lack of assistance from anyone. Would've bought a helmet but had no idea what to get
Looking to purchase a kayak. Great place to go for info! Dave was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Ended up buying 2. Came back the next day and received amazing help installing roof racks.
Got a great deal on a down jacket and stuff sack. The store is super cool and has lots of stuff for outdoors. The bike track and climbing wall is crazy.
Nice location in the city. Very hard to find a staff who can help with my question. I found the thing I wanted by going around for my camping trip, perfect place for all of the outdoor activities.
Record profits and you still can t pay your employees a living wage. Treat your people better. Your lack of transparency and misinformation to your membership shows you are intentionally taking advantage of your retail employees
