The average employee's motivation level is abysmal...

The average employee's motivation level is abysmal at best. They purposely designed the computer system to go down whenever busy so they don't have to do their jobs when I have taken multiple days off from work. Nice to know my taxes are paying their salaries.

Been on hold so far for five hours. Seriously. Wow. Payed a speeding ticket online back in march however the rmv still put me on some data base saying I can't get my license reniewed until I pay the ticket that I already payed. Tried emailing got no reply and no ones answering my calls. Seriously? And I'm in another state so driving to a mass rmv is not an option.... Ugh

The great minds at the Mass RMV chose to suspend my license during COVID for an accident in NY state that had happened over a year and a half ago...no explanation as to why they waited until I was trying to work as a delivery driver during a global pandemic to suspend my license. Tried to call them to get my license reinstated and ended up waiting over two hours to speak to someone on the phone. Finally, I was told that BECAUSE of the pandemic, the office would not be able to reinstate my license because THEIR offices were closed. They wanted me to pay to both suspend and reinstate my license. I don't think this is the time to be catching up on license suspensions that should have been processed over a year ago. I don't think the Mass RMV employees I talked to really cared at all how much their mistake is impacting my livelihood at a time when everyone is struggling.

After waiting over an hour, I realized I had forgotten something after being called up. I went to get it and they told me I had to wait AGAIN. Then it turns out they didn't tell me about another piece of information I needed when I was there the first time so I rushed home and got it. To my dismay I came back and they wouldn't let me in because it was 30 seconds after 5pm, literally 30 seconds!

To top it all off, the lady behind the counter was talking very rudely about a the previous person that had been up there to her co-worker calling him 'stupid.'

Next time if you need some stupid paperwork tell me the FIRST time rather than having me wait, then go back up only to say I need something else. COMPLETELY IGNORANT

Very positive experience! I accompanied and assisted my uncle who renewed his driver's license for the REAL ID. The facility is very well organized, clean and efficient. It didn't even take 20 minutes from the time we walked in the door. The agents were very courteous and professional, especially Ms. Bernadine.

I am very frustrated. I recently moved here from Oregon and have tried 3 times to go to the RMV in Springfield to get a Massachusetts registration and title. My Oregon plates expire on May 31, 2020. I can't get an appointment either on line or by phone. I am trying to comply with the law and now fear being stopped by police. What can I do?

For the road test, they will take you through the streets around the RMV, make you to do right & left turns, backing up, parallel parking, 3 point turns, hill parking etc. The examiners are very strict, they will let you pass only if you are very confident at driving.

Organizationally they are bad or were bad - this was before they moved and created a whole new system to work with the public.

I had more then one issue with them- however, this is the DMV so you know everyone has a compliant against the people that work there. Whether it was the wait time or how they felt like they weren't being heard.
However, my problem dealt with a "lost" check for a fine. The check was chased, but I still got a letter stating if I didn't resend payment that I would no longer be eligible to drive due to a late bill. Obviously I was upset- any reasonable person would be if they were getting charged twice for a bill they already paid- however, there was no one to talk to to my concerns. If you call the number, a computer bot tells you, you can wait a week to schedule an appointment to talk to a real person. This doesn't work when the bill is due before then - again the bill you already paid.

With the new set up at their new location- things have gone better. However, I'm still out 50 bucks and the new location didn't want to hear it.

I hope that they finally get things organized. Just because the DMV is not the best place to be no matter what- it doesn't mean it has to be the worst.

My partner and I recently moved from Washington State to Springfield. Because of this office, our settling in process in this State has been more challenge than anything else. First of all we had to wait +1 hour on the phone to get an appointment. By the time we got there, we were walked through the pandemic protocol which is understandable, but as soon we got in, it was obvious the misinformation, since every time I had my form reviewed by someone I was invited to fill the rest of the information out of the place, go through the pandemic protocol again and when a different person review my application I had to repeat the whole process again because I needed to fill a different section of the application which the first person didn't point it out at the first time. A courteous customer services was sent out off the window, it doesn't exist. I had to go to that place twice this month, first time for my ID and secondly for car registration. This has been a tremendous discouraging impression of what is like to settle in this State. Is it too much to ask all staff handle the same information, have a good customer service training and simplify the overall process? As a tax payer we deserve quality attention and a better overall experience.

Went there on three different occasions to register a commercial vehicle and was told by each different person that the amount due from fees and sales tax was a different number, when I asked why so I this didn t happen again I was told idk why or how much it s gonna change, this is relevant because I had a check from the dealership and the check has to be in the exact amount, they cannot take the rest in cash which is why I had to go three times with three different checks from the dealer, all in all it cost me 2000 dollars of lost wages from dealing with this bs this is the 21st century how can you not take two forms of payment

My sister and I entered the DMV in Springfield close to 10:30 AM today November 8, 2018 and we were in and out in much less than 20 minutes. The woman at the door was efficient (just not all warm and fuzzy). lol I filled out the application required and returned to the same person who directed us to Customer Service. Both ladies at that station were very pleasant. The woman (sorry I don't remember her name) who checked my ID had to reject one form but was kind enough to mention a couple of acceptable forms of ID and was patient while I found it. She approved my application and we sat down to wait and before we could even get comfortable my number was called! I know this is long winded but if you're still reading... WAIT FOR IT.... The person waiting on me was MICHELLE and WOW.. what a nice person... very professional, very kind and patient. My visit was very good but Michelle turned it into an EXCELLENT experience!

I have been trying for a month to obtain my drivers record so I can transfer my license as I moved out of state, and it has been impossible, the online options do not work and the website crashes all the time, they offer a mail option but it doesn't help me as the driving record would be mailed to my old addrress on the license and I no longer live in MA.To add insult to injury nobody answers the phone either, horrible service, I am forced to violate the law at my new state because the MA RMV cannot process a simple online transaction and nobody there seems to care to fix the website so it actually does what it claims to do.

This is the worst DMV in the United States. Disgustingly unprofessional and mediocre. I went there FOUR TIMES to register a car and FOUR times got misinformation from multiple people. Brought back documents that I didn t even need but every single person told me a different thing to bring back all to result in still not getting the car registered. They just hire anybody to work there you don t have to actually know what your talking about. Guy at counter 19 sucks horribly and has no clue how to do his job correctly nor does anybody else in there. Absolute worst experience I ve had in my life ever anywhere and I will never go back unless my life depends on it. If you value your sanity, do not go there. Go to Chicopee.

I spent one week waiting for a call back from the RMV. When it finally came, I was forced to wait on hold for fifteen minutes. When asked for my last name, I explained that it was hyphenated and began spelling the first name. The chimp on the other day exploded in rage and demanded my last name. I explained again, calmly, that my last name is hyphenated, and the first name is so-and-so, and again the sub-human monkey piece of filth lost her mind and screamed at me that she needed my FIRST name. Confounded and outraged, I demanded to speak to a supervisor, at which point she hung up on me.

I was on the line a week ago, it was very fast and efficient, they are very prepared organized with the Covi-19 protocols, they are very pending to disinfect and very respond quickly.

Nice facility with a lot of handicap parking space...

Nice facility with a lot of handicap parking spaces. Parking issues 100% cured.
Interior areas very open with plenty of seating. Initially there is some cattle herding of folks but you have to start somewhere or it would be disaster.
Workers were friendly especially when you consider the manners of a large number of customers.
Overall a huge improvement over the old facility but, as with anything, there could be improvement.

So I call the RMV number and told there are 94 people on the que ahead of me. Wait time approx 2 mins, 5 min later tells me another 2 min, about 5 min later tells 10 min wait, now it comes on saying 20 min wait. Just came on and said another wait approx 20 min. If they answer calls in the order they are received my wait time should not be getting longer. Use the phone, go on the computer its quicker they say.....

Just transferred my license from Tennessee to Massachusetts, what a process, I had Terry as my 3rd person who waited on me and it took over an hour to get it finished. Thankfully Terry was able to get it done and was extremely nice about the whole process as she was experienced problems on the computer system. Thanks Terry you were wonderful hope your day got better.

I imagine that the workers there are politically connected as no business would tolerate their negative attitudes towards their "customers". This was the best visit I have ever had to the rmv even though I had to travel a 1/2 hour away to get to an open rmv. I think we should continue with the appointments even once the pandemic is over. It made things go so much smoother.

Today I took my road test, and I have to say - I was extremely intimidated by the reviews of this place and my driving instructor, but I passed! As long as you know everything, do some research and practice and get your hours in, your fine. I sucked at parallel parking, but I practiced again and again and I did that part fine on my test. And it turned out my driving instructor was actually really nice! I believe my test was fair. I was super nervous before the test, and when I finished and went inside, every employee I encountered congratulated me. The wait to get my temporary license was not that long of a wait either. Thanks to everyone who helped me out today, you guys are awesome.

My son's road test ended up being rescheduled from March due to COVID - He ended up getting Examiner #EH06 and had a poor experience. He drove so much to prepare for his test and is a good driver. He did end up scoring pretty well on the overall test. However, this Examiner told him he failed him because he didn't know how to put the e-brake down, and stated that the school cars he drove to practice were the exact same, which is not accurate. I would NOT recommend this Examiner in Springfield.

I'm a military member and every time I've come to the Springfield RMV I've received the most excellent service. Military members often have complicated situations and the folks here do the research and make things happen.

Is the worst office run by Massachusetts, they ask you to go online and schedule a day and hour and when that day arrive you need to wait in a line of 100 people, I don't understand way you need to schedule an appointment, also the staff is not helpful.
