Absolutely horrible service. They mispelled my vanity plate which was the same as my name (which they spelled right) and I had to go back three times JUST so they can actually fix it which took a month. The lines when you call make you wait two hours then hang up on you. Would give 0 stars if I could.

took an over 3 months to mail me an EZ pass violation ticket. they did so even though my ez pass is valid and the money came out of my account. they also claimed it was a 3rd and final notice on the ticket despite not actually having sent me notices 1&2. MA is trying to scam money outta people on the ez pass system.
If I could give the road test examiner EH06 a negative number for review I would. It seems many others have had the same experience with him as well. I also wish i had looked at these reviews before I took my daughter! He was rude, disrespectful, didn t have one ounce of compassion or respect for her. A huge disappointment and would not recommend you take your road test at this facility....at least not with this examiner.
This is by far the worst place on earth. It's a free for all here. During August /covid19 and half the police officers working out front have their nose out of their masks, or taking the mask off... Biting their nails. And I got sent all the way to the end of the line because I didn't have my name written on my paper just to pick up a plate thats l taken care of.
This place is the worst facility in Springfield, customer service is rude and unhelpful. They sent me back twice for papers that I never needed on previous visits. Almost everyone who left the facility was angry and unhappy with their experience and I d be surprised to see this place stay open for more than 2 more years Before a serious overhaul.
Website has incorrect information on it apparently but we as the consumer are supposed to know that. I even went as far as to "contact them" with my specific questions and never received a response over a week ago. This is why people hate the RMV just another broken government division.
WOW!! I went to renew my license today @ new facility on St James in springfield.. The building is clean. Parking is plentiful. The staff were helpful & courteous. The process was fast. I was in & out in 15 minutes. This experience is so very different from when it was on Liberty street & the lines went out to the parking lot. I'm not sure who to thank , but management & staff should stand up & take a well deserved bow!!!!
Front desk ladys were extremely rude and unprofessional. they need new workers upfront that represent the rmv well and dont have an attitude with customers who is trying ask questions and get simple answers.
At the beginning the old man in register number 4 was a little rude but then he calmed down and helped me. After that all the transaction went smooth and fast.
i been call for 1 week and finally answer and guess what?!?!?! hung up on me i been wait for long time and they hung up on me!! that very rude and i not appreciate it!!!!!
I was nervous to go here because of what I hear but it wasn't an option. I will say the lines went fast and everyone was so nice yesterday. I went on july 30th and went to counter #6 I believe and she was so nice and helpful. My appt was at 6pm there was a line but they check you in and once in it was going pretty quick.
Don t go here for a road test. I took mine today and failed because I refused to take an illegal turn. The instructor wanted me to turn left on a red light which everyone knows you can t do. It wasn t a one way street onto a one way street either, he screamed at me when I didn t do it and when the light turned green he grabbed the emergency brake and forced me to stop in the MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I asked him why and he told me because I didn t turn left at the red light. What made me even more frustrated than I already was, the instructor told me I was very good at driving and my parking was good and so were my maneuvers. But he failed me on something he himself lacked knowledge about. So if you wanna pass definitely don t go here, they are very unprofessional and rude here.
Terrible customer service. When you're at the desk, the employees talk over you to the other employees across them about personal activities. Using their phones scrolling through social media while your standing in front of them waiting.
Called at 8AM when the website says they open, listen to a 5 minute mandatory pre-recorded message only to then be informed that they are closed and I need to call back the next business day. I call back at 9AM and am forced to listen to the same 5 minute manadatory pre-recorded messaged (even though I am now extremely familiar with the interactive voice recording prompts). I finally press 1, 1 (difficult, right?) and am told I need to wait approximately 10 minutes to speak to someone. Ten minutes later the estimated hold time is 20 minutes. 30 minutes later (same call mind you), my estimated wait time is over an hour. This is yet another example of big government incompetence, steal time and our tax dollars, fine us, cite covid when we cry foul. Next step, torches and pitchforks outside the state house... let's do this!
Got in and out no waiting in line. Had to wait a week and a half for an appointment and drive an hour because there were no appointments closer, but I can accept that considering how things are right now.
This place literally sucks. It is gross, unorganized, and the waiting time is way too long. The are 6 registers but only two of them are working. This is ridiculous and I can't believe that public service can be this bad in Massachusetts!
horrible i called yesterday because they canceled my registration due to no insurance but i ve had insurance since the 16th and they canceled on the 24th 8 days after i already had insurance been trying to call waited 5 hours and never got to speak to anyone! calling again and going on almost 2 hours today this is ridiculous!! they can open things up like clubs cars casinos and restaurants but not rmv and schools? THE IMPORTANT THINGS
Went on 10/20 was told needed a form went home got the paper went back to the MV then i was told needed another paper, went again with appointment 11/20 waited in a long line in the cold then i was told i needed another piece of paper, employees are big time inept why dont tell me all i needed the first time in October, im 65 i have surgery on my knee dont want to be out with this pandemic and now they want a marriage certificate to show my maiden name which i think it was proved with the birth certificate that show my maiden name it is and original birth certificate
I gave it 1 star because some of the staff act somewhat "rude" or "have an attitude" as if they don't want to be there or don't want to deal with the general public. A smile with a "Hi how you're doing? How can I help you today?" would be fine so people who go there wouldn't feel such a negative vibe when talking to a rep.. Besides that, everything else is Mmmm ok I guess.
Decent service, but super long wait times. Can barely ever get through when calling. The contact system always redirects you to the website and won't let you speak to a live person due to "longer call wait times"
I went RMV in Springfield on 07/17/19 around 4:15 and was greeted by a nice gentlemen and since I had my application filled out he sent me over and I received a number and before I could pick my number up and my paperwork they called my number over to desk #8 and I think her name was Joanne and she was very nice and friendly. I was in and out in 15 minutes.
I go there today to schedule a road test, i have come to contact with this older hispanic lady at counter number 3. As i get to her, she seemed to serious and to my observation on her body language i knew right away she was uneasy with me. I politely state my reason for being in there and then goes on tell me that I cannot schedule a road test in person and that i can do that online or by phone. I politely said that i did try online but... and goes on to interrupt me with the same thing she told me previously. I said yes I understand that but i did go online and... she goes and interrupts me again. My ears are red and my blood is boiling at this moment. So i said again please let me talk and explain to you why!!! And but no help just keeps on with the BS and i have some disability issues
Posted a picture of wait time to speak to a person or make an appointment, 2 hours 13 minutes. This has been going on since early March & the Commonwealth still can t get their act together, pathetic! Look at other places like NY & California research & go on web sites. These places have a plan & continuous updates. Mass.gov still has information from back in March! There are our tax dollars at work Incompetent Charlie Baker.
Went to renew my license and chose to get the Real ID and did all the paperwork online. When arriving at the St James St. location, I was pleasantly greeted and received my number. Only waited 5 minutes before being called. I had all the documents listed from online, but I needed my Marriage Certificate to get the Real ID because my present name does not match my birth certificate. So, for any married woman seeking a Real ID, remember to bring it! I went back home to get mine, but i went back to the original person at RMV and we finished. I didnt want to have to pay additional fees next year. Overall it was quick and a pleasant experience.
I got instructor Eho6 and it seems like many others have had negative experiences with him. I wasn't able to complete my 3 point turn becuase the road. And overall I dony think Springfield is a good option for taking the road test.
Horrible road instructor, i got #EH06 and he is just rude and disrespectful. As soon as I saw him i knew he was going to give me hard time. When reserving he complaining about me checking my side mirrors for split second saying i should be looking back at all times.
Transferring to a Mass license, was a little frustrating in proving that I'm an actual resident and need documents that prove my existence for 30 days, but aside from that went rather smooth, yes took a little longer than I had expected it too... but all in all customer service was very kind and friendly. Also the way they have the place laid out is extremely well thought out.
It's a nice location, pretty easy to find. Right next to a bounce house so when you emotionally want to bounce off the walls, you can go next door and get frustrations out. When you first walk in a person greets you to see what long line to get into, If you have everything you need or not. Then you stand in a long line, to eventually have your papers looked at and or added to before they give you a number before you hopefully find a seat. Its a big place, but it's a big state too and others are there wasting their time too. They do have a vending machine, but it doesnt always work. Watch the screens for your number. And if you want your licence make sure to bring your actual social security card and passport. The more legal id you have the better. But you cant get the licence to fly with without your ss card. Customer service is hit or miss, I have only been here 3x since we just moved here. I was told I didnt need my old registration, but then had to go home to get it. I also was not given the stickers for my tags. So I still need to go back to get that. It's been a headache. Mass doesn't do emissions but they do inspections, luckily I passed. You also no longer get your licence before you leave; that took 10 days to get in the mail. Good luck.
Terrible phone service. I called to inquire about the new Real ID, waited on the phone for 24 minutes, then got disconnected. I called back, waited for 32 minutes before someone answered. Ridiculous.
This place is crazy I came in at 11:30 am and it is now 1:08pm the hearings officer has been on lunch and know one seems to know if she is coming back... I need her job lol they need a better method for this kind of thing like certain times posted when she will be here cuz this is ridiculous SMH
@Awilda, she basically called me a liar to cover up her own mistake. She manually changed the mileage reading on my RMV-1 Form and tried telling me that the mileage written on the TItle was incorrect and did not match the mileage on the RMV-1 Form. Stated she could process it as Actual Mileage unknown as a fix. She also could not get over the fact that I did not want to surrender my ticket. I had to explain to her that I wanted to keep it because it had the timestamp of when I got it so I could show it to my boss.
Their pattern and practice per private attorneys with whom I confer is to take at face value whatever police claim on "Immediate Threat Medical" even when it can be total lies by police out of malice, spite, hatred, and contempt. Lawyers complain that the RMV far too often abuses "Immediate Threat Medical".
My experience with the Springfield motor vehicle for over 45 years is been the same, I believe that starting with the administration mgr all the way down to the service window's rep... they have been promoted to some state police trouper behavior, merciless, rude, dis-considered, unreasonable, sarcastic, totally despicable. I do not understand why they have to act with such behavior, when all they do, besides been rude is collecting money for the state and for their jobs. Fortunately, today we have the internet to do must of the transactions, but every now & then you see the need to go to the RMV and just to think about it, make you feel like vomit. I hope that some one in the top government level realize about this so disgusted situation and find the way to make changes, thousands of people will appreciated.
By far the worst experience of my life. Waiting for my number to be called was like watching pond water or molasses. During my 4 hour wait I honestly considered selling my car, buying a bike or even just ending my life! I wanted to give this place negative stars but unfortunately that wasn't a option. If you ever need to come here make sure you bring enough water, food, and a sleeping bag.
Incompetent employees of the RMV could have prevented hundreds, possibly thousands of deaths if they had done their jobs correctly, they are a stain on Massachusetts.
Hello! I went to the new Springfield location and was greeted by a nice female. I did not get Her name. I was given a form to fill out for licence renewal. I went to fill out and realized I had this from online. I let Her know and she sent Me ahead with a number. My number was called in a timely fashion. Elisabeth helped Me through the process and was very nice. Congratulations for a positive experience. Thank You Elisabeth. Thanks!!!
Very nice at door thats where it ends...never been so jerked around over trying to convert an out of state license..and I'm from here..sad to see they haven't improved things at all..well better parking ...really just rude rude people go anywhere but here!
Very courteous and while there was a line of course, it was all very well handled with people at different parts of the line making sure you have everything you need. I'll be back...because I have to, but I'm not dreading it which is a victory in my book.
Had an amazing experience. I arrived 30mins earlier for my appointment and was taken care right away. Everyone was very friendly and got my registration done quickly.
Terrible service. They will not assist you in anyway. Charges fees on top of their errors. I wouldnt recommend anyone to go there. If you call you can be on hold for over an hour with fluctuating wait times from 10minutes up to an hour back to 10minutes back to over an hour. Might as well wait to be pulled over. MA GOV does not care about you.
I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, but I actually enjoyed fast service and normal personnel which is a rare thing nowadays. Keep it up guys.
If this has happened to you, I could understand how you will feel. Specially at these times of Pandemic and new rules. My wife Celeste and I went to the Springfield DMV Agency because she needed to get a Massachusetts ID Card to open a new savings account at her bank, and I needed to get a copy of my license. We were not only treated as if we didn't belong there. We was yelled by The Robocops and even told that even though we had been inside, we had to get to back of the line. I told them that I was a Veteran and should be treated with Respect. Then when she went to the window to be helped with. They didn't even accept her birth Certificate because it wasn't updated. I was still taking some time with my attendant. When Celeste finished, they told her to get out and couldn't stay there. It is just terrible that These agencies who you have to deal in your lives, can have uneducated and agreessive people. I will not accept this behavior and I am calling on Monday to report it. Specially if you are there to be helped not to beg.
A Horrible Horrible guy who are dealing with IRP. He provided wrong info to me wast my time and try to find excuse for himself. More than that. NO respect at all !!!!! Anyway. If I could give negative stars I will do that.
F the RMV customer service. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. To such an extent that I'm considering not doing my road test here, and waiting to move states. I was in the phone for ages - not even on hold - just listening to a bot repeat info over and over then hang up.
When I went into office, I was accidentally signed up for a learner's permit before I even had a state ID. the woman just said "oh whoops" and I was then there for another 40 minutes. Ive had several other terrible experiences with them but Im too annoyed to keep writing,
Worst phone experience ever on hold for 2 hours . Says call me back me answered in 60 moms then 10 mind then over hour!!! redilous!!! And forget doing anything online . Dmv really needs to pull them selfs together
Its definitely a bigger facility but it sucks just as much as the one they had on Liberty St. Slow calling and out of 25 counters, only about 6 employees working the counters. Terrible!! And very frustrating!
If I could give it no stars I would give it no stars couldn't help me wouldn't help me refused to help me rotten atmosphere rotten employees no empathy for the public
I wouldn t suggest this rmv for your road test. Very unprofessional and lack of emotion when giving a failed test result. I ended up going through a driving school that eased my mind in the test and I passed. Overall lines for it are simple. Someone is in the front to guide you and then you have to go into the prepared line best for you, pretty convenient.
Great service - was greeted immediately, told which line to be in for what I needed done, got a #, sat down for less than 10 minutes and went to booth (#9) where Krista helped me. She was extremely helpful and very nice too!
