I absolutely LOVE this salon! Visited for hair and makeup during Super Bowl weekend and could not be happier with both for my events. The people who work there are so incredibly friendly and downright talented. I wish I lived in Minneapolis so I could make Steller my hair salon!

Did not listen to what i wanted. Gave me an ugly haircut that i will have to live with for at least a year - that's how long it takes my hair to grow out. Do not recommend if you have curly hair.

This is my go to salon. The stylists are wonderful, professional and willing to take risks with your hair if you are. I have seen 3 different stylists (I tend not to be great at scheduling), but the whole staff is competent, so I trust that who ever happens to be doing my hair they will be doing it well. Any trims you need are free for returning customers as well.

I also LOVE their website, it is beautiful and tells you all about each stylists, and it lets you schedule your appointment online, which was a must for me.

They are also DOG friendly and happen to be right next to Spy house coffee!

Great hair cuts, location, and staff. I have been going to Steller for about a year now and every experience and hair cut has been great.

Love this place and all of the stylists there! Great vibe. Super cute. Kat did a wonderful job coloring my hair. I'd never gone to a legitimate "salon" before going there, and now I understand why people go there.

Since I'm usually just getting a simple trim, I typically book an appointment with whichever stylist is available during my time off work. I have had my hair cut by 4 different stylists at Steller and they have all been great! It's insane how affordable they are for such great talent and service -- just leaves extra room for a big tip!
I treat my beau to haircuts by Alaina since she specializes in men's cuts and skillfully tames his James Franco-esque hair.
Though I live in the West Metro, I find it worth the drive. Especially since it's the perfect excuse to head to Spyhouse Coffee right next door! Just be sure to leave 10 minutes early to find parking. There's lots of street parking within a 5 minute walking distance, but their parking lot is always full.

The worst haircut i ever got, super cut and great clips are far better than this. The so called senior stylist dint cut what i showed in the picture.she just did below average job and not yet all satisfied for what i paid.

Steller Hair Company is by far the best place I've ever had my hair cut at. The atmosphere is great. They always welcome you with a beverage and a little candy bowl with delicious fun sized candies. The waiting room is comfortable, and Spyhouse is right next door if you want a coffee while you wait. I've been going to Alaina for about a year. I never know what I want to do with my cut, and between the gym, work, and going out I want to do as little as possible to make it look good. Alaina just does her thing and makes it look good 100% of the time.

If you're looking for a great men's haircut (and I'm sure women's as well) I highly recommend booking an appointment with Alaina. It's worth every penny. Just be aware that her schedule is usually pretty booked out and you'll likely be looking for parking for awhile before you find a spot.

I have been going to Steller for well 4 years now, and it is hands down the best hair salon I have gone to.

In those four years I have consistently received the best hair color, hair cuts and customer service I have ever gotten from a salon. Katie was able to transform my overly processed and spotty too blonde hair, into hair that is healthy and beautiful. I have switched lengths, style and color over the years, and each one has been fantastic.

They do not do just an amazing job on my hair, but on everyone they work on. I have sent at least 10 of my friends and family members here, and each one has had a fantastic experience, which turned them into repeat customers as well.

I cannot recommend this salon enough.

This place is fantastic, great products, reasonably priced and of course really well trained staff that give excellent cuts. I had Emily for a mens cut and she did an awesome job!

I had a fine haircut, but it wasn't inspired. I won't be going back, though the stylist was friendly and the salon seemed clean.

Can t believe I haven t reviewed y all yet. Steller is more than a salon, it s such a great organization that gives back to the community. Also my haircut always looks dope and they care quality product lines.

First experience at Steller Hair and I have to say it was wonderful. Sarah colored and cut my hair and did an absolute superb job. Pang at the front desk was so welcoming as well and both radiated kindness. I highly recommend this salon!

This salon is a gem. I have received cuts + colors from several of the staff members - including the amazing owner - and they are all as talented as they are kind. With Katie Steller at the helm, it is evident that the entire (all-female!) staff has an immense amount of mutual respect and admiration for one another and they see each other as a family. What this means for the customers is that they can not only be assured they'll end up with fabulous hair, but they will do so in an environment that is welcoming, accepting of all types of people, and highest supportive.

I did some searching online and decided to make an appointment with Emily. I told her what I didn't like about my overgrown style. I don't like products in my hair, and do very little heat styling. She made some suggestions that sounded great. I've gone to some great stylists. Emily quite possibly gave me the best, or one of the best, haircuts I have ever gotten. It lays beautifully and is really perfect. Most stylists can cut a basic haircut. But, my hair is challenging. It is fine, thinning, and inconsistently wavy. She was able to shape it and take the heaviness out at just the right spots without over thinning it. There's nothing worse than leaving a cut with bald spots or blunt with no shape or movement. She aced it.

I started seeing Katie after a bad haircut and color from a nearby salon. She really listened to what I wanted and had great ideas. That was over 2 years ago! I haven't had a bad hair day since. Such a wonderful salon and atmosphere!!

I LOVE Steller. I started going here over a year ago when I wanted to bleach my dark hair to platinum. I see Erika, who is just a magician. She goes above and beyond to make sure my hair looks great and I am prepared for the upkeep. She always gives me a price estimate so I m ready for that part, and when I decided the upkeep was too much, she helped me transition to a lower-maintenance style.

I highly recommend her, but anyone here is great. The atmosphere also is cool yet comfortable. Anyone could go here and be happy.

Would 110% recommend this salon to anyone. Everyone was extremely friendly and the environment is wonderful. Not to mention my hair turned out better than I could imagine. Brooke took care of my hair but I will say everyone is extremely well knowledgeable and did amazing work.

Though my favorite part was all the treats and drinks they have available!

I stepped into Steller about 3 years ago to get my brother a hair cut. I made an easy appointment via phone (kind, listening to requests and easy to book) and put the date in my calendar. We sat on the comfortable couches as we arrived and offered something to drink. My brother received incredible service on all levels. He left with the best haircut he's ever received, great conversation and a confidence boost.

I now personally am a regular customer at Steller and will never leave. I see Kelly for my cut and color and have never left her chair disappointed. What's different about Steller is you get high end service without the snooty addittudes. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and enjoyable to be surrounded by.

I got a haircut by Jennifer. After I washed my hair. It became natural. I totally fall in love with my hair. Jennifer is awesome and nice.

A stylist(unnamed) first dyed my hair an ashy blonde and it looked good but the color washed out after 1 week, then I went in to have it redyed light brown and she died it dark grey/green. I personally would not recommend getting hair dyed here

Excellent customer service. I needed a big change with my hair and Jenna gave me just that. I wanted to go very red. She exceeded my expectations. I contacted the salon after I was disappointed with how quickly my hair faded, (I knew it would with red but it was faster than I expected.) Katie got back to me very quickly and Jenna was able to get me in the same day for a gloss which gave me just the boost of color that I needed. I will definitely be back and would recommend them to anyone looking for a great salon!

First visit at Steller Hair Company. Lake did a great job having no idea what my hair can do. She was easy to talk with but did not seem uneasy with the quiet times (which is something I enjoy during a cut and style). I will be returning.

I usually don't go to proper salons but decided to treat myself for once! I typically chop my own hair but AJ was amazing, even considered weight distribution while cutting. Katie has made a wonderful spot here for artists to really get to know their clients, I absolutely love all the natural lighting and atmosphere overall. 5-Star service!

Not being an original Minnesota resident, it was hard for me to find a new stylist that fit my needs. A lot of what I experienced, was lack of experience and 'service-oriented' stylists.

I certainly gave every other salon their fair shot at getting to 'know' my hair. I tried Rocco Altobelli in the IDS tower (was there for 1 year), Jon English Salon in Uptown (tried that for about 9 months), then randomly stumbled upon Stellar - and I feel like I've finally found my perfect spot!

Cat really knows her $HiT - and not just about hair. About how to run/manage a small business, about product in the entire industry (not just what's sold at their salon), make-up, and overall style. She listen to my needs - but also tells me when my type of hair just won't mess with my "Pinterest Pics" (which, let's be real, aren't all that realistic anyway). She tells it like it is, keeps my hair safe (and not fried!), and Stellar serves local BEER! Need I say more?

This is the place for me. 'Nough said!

This is where I ve found one of the best stylists ever! Jenna totally fixed my hair and is the first stylist I ve had do that in a very long time. She totally nailed it. I will be back again and again! So happy!!

I don't typically write reviews, but feel like I have to for Steller Hair Company because I've had nothing but positive experiences here.

After moving from Chicago to Minneapolis two years ago, I can finally say I've found my salon! Steller Hair Company is great from start to finish. The front desk staff are always kind on the phone when scheduling appointments and are super welcoming from the moment you walk into the salon.

I'm hesitant to write this next part of the review because I want Felicia all to myself but everyone deserves to know that she is absolutely amazing! If you are looking for an extremely talented colorist and just all around super cool chick, I highly recommend her.

After suffering from years of terrible haircuts and dye jobs, Emily set me straight. She was the first stylist to show me how to work with my thick wavy hair rather than trying to fight against it. My hair and my life are so much better with her magic.

I have never left this salon with a cut I didn't love. The staff are personable and talented - I honestly don't plan on going anywhere else for my hair needs!

Love this place. I love how Felicia cuts my hair. She specializes in cutting curly hair and of course she cuts straight hair too.

I am rocking a super cute pixie - quite possibly the best cut I've ever had - courtesy of Alaina. She was receptive and understood my wishes as well as my concerns. Will definitely be back - and it's a 45 minute drive for me! Well worth it.

My husband and I got hair cuts at steller today and we're both very happy with our experience. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our hair stylists were very thorough and took their time to ensure that the final results were good. It's certainly not a cheap service but I would say it's still worth it. As someone who has spent a lot of time in great clips kind of places while on a student budget, I think a good hair cut and a good stylist are worth paying extra for. The place was welcoming and comfortable and I would highly recommend it for all genders.

I went to Steller after not having a haircut in 2.5 years. Brooke was my stylist and she is amazing. She listened to the pains I had with my hair and gave me some great suggestions of what to do to make it easy to style, frame my face, and feel good. She took off 9 inches and thinned it out so nicely! I am so happy and I look forward to coming back in the future. Also, they are amazing about COVID safety!

I got my hair cut for the first time at this salon by Lake. I came in and was greeted very nicely by the receptionist. I made the appointment the same day because I got the urge to cut my hair that morning, so needless to say I wasn't really sure exactly what I wanted when I came in. I sat down maybe for 15 seconds before Lake was ready for me which was impressive. I showed her a couple of photos of what I wanted, told her what I had been using/doing/not doing latley and she gave me everything I wanted in terms of my cut & the volume I left with in my fine/curly hair. She was nice & didnt push me to buy any products (I ended up buying some anyways since I was impressed with the results) and the salon was really clean and had a nice atmosphere. Overall a great experience & great price for what I got.

Best salon in Minneapolis! I drive over an hour to get here and it's well worth it. I've had cuts and color from several different stylists due to my own difficult schedule and have never been disappointed. The salon itself is beautiful, inviting, and comfortable. The products are high quality and hospitality is excellent (they have LaCroix and a candy bowl, A+ from me). Most importantly, every employee I've met has told me how well they are treated and genuinely happy they are to work for Steller. Love supporting businesses like this!

Really lovely service. I went for the first time yesterday and I was really pleased with how they are keeping themselves and their clients safe during this pandemic. Also AJ did such a great job shaping my bowl cut mullet into a super cute look! Will definitely go again. :)

Jenna is a magician! I just moved to MN from FL and was on the hunt for a great salon to tackle my hair that I haven't had colored or cut in nearly two years. I went from long, mousy brown and boring to short, dark with bangs. She worked on me nearly two hours to ensure the cut was perfect and gave me tutorials on how to style. The COVID precautions in place are top notch as well. Having my go to salon not even a minute drive from my house is just icing on the cake!

Erika is so nice and easy to get along with, she cut my hair perfectly. I had a very great experience at Steller and I will go back in the future!

I had Jenna cut my hair from a botched bob to a beautiful pixie. She listened to all my requests and nailed every single one. I was concerned about my bald spot showing with having my hair shorter, but she cut it in a way so it s covered completely. She put a lot of detail into getting everything to fade nicely and into making the top section very versatile. She made my hair look textured but not choppy and uneven. It looks nice no matter how I have it laying so I don t have to worry about constantly running my hands through it. She seemed to be really skilled and up to date with her technique. She was super kind as well. I definitely recommend her to anyone!

I live in Bloomington but it is always worth the drive here. Love how I feel and look when I leave!

I visited Steller for the first time last week and received hands-down the best haircut of my life. Awesome staff and awesome space.

I have fallen in love with Erika and the magic she works on my locks. But more than that? Her intuitive spirit and infectious laugh make every visit pure joy. Not only is she a color magician (she teaches hair color when she's not doing it), she's just a beautiful soul to spend a few hours with. She really takes the time to figure out your individual needs and desires and explains the realm of possibilities with so much personality. She's a total cool cat, but completely accessible and warm. She works with people of all ages and I get the feeling that no hair challenge is beyond her knowledge and capability. I cannot say enough good things about this fab, funny, gorgeous, smart-as-a-whip woman. Adore. Recommend highly, as long as you don't steal my slot. Parking is a bit of a tricky biz at Steller, but that just goes to show how popular this NE joint is. Everyone there is super friendly, and though it's obviously pretty damn cool, it's not cooler-than-you cool, which I love. You won't regret it.

Unfortunately, both appointments I have booked WELL IN ADVANCE have been cancelled by Steller. The first cancellation was made on the morning of the appointment because the hair cutter was ill. The second cancellation was made by email ---not even a phone call!---that just by luck I read the day of the appointment. I can understand one cancellation, but two? This does not seem like a reliable shop.

I visited Minnesota for a wedding over the weekend. I made a mistake and left my beauty salon search for the last minute (4 days before the wedding) but thankfully I found this place and they booked me at one of the few openings they had on the weeding day. If you don't want any surprises on a special event, you go to Stellar Salon and they will take care of you and will do anything to accomplish your desire look. I made my appointment for 1:30 that day but they were able to accommodate me earlier 1pm and that was a life saver for me because the salon was far from the hotel we were staying (20 minutes) and had little time to get ready, so make sure to check the distances if you're out of town. It seems a pretty busy salon and seems they all are very professional, nice environment, the receptionist girl was super nice, what a great customer service, she really knows how to treat well their customers. My hair looked fantastic and it lasted all night, it looked great on the next day, actually today is the 3rd day and it still looks great, I don't want to wash it but I have to lol. Also , extra tip, if you're interested in having make up done, there's a studio "Brow chic" on the same building, they have airbrush or regular make up.

Made an appointment and they sent me away because they "didn't have time". Inconsiderate staff.

I always book with Alaina. She's an amazing stylist. She's down-to-earth, fun-to-converse-with, has a great sense of style, and she's very friendly. The shop is quaint, clean, and beautiful. The staff is full of friendly faces and the milieu is happy and inviting. I've met the owner before and she is a generous, kind, wonderful person. Support this local gem and you'll do yourself and all of Minneapolis a favor.

I've had both Cat and Jamee, and they are so talented. I have never walked out of Steller without feeling amazing. Cat is especially good at dealing with my fine hair and pixie haircut, which can be difficult to get right. She's also a color expert. Even when I don't know what I want to do with it, she's full of suggestions. I trust her so much that most of the time I walk in and say, do whatever you think would look good!

To top it off, the space is amazing and welcoming. I'm always offered a beverage when I come in. Looooove this salon worth every penny

We used Steller for my Bridal Party's Hair and I would HIGHLY recommend it to any other bride. Steller was incredibly prompt to any questions, courteous to my large party's needs, and, most importantly, delivered high quality service! My entire party was thrilled with their updos and I was in love with my services. Their partnership with Brow Chic also made the wedding preparations a breeze!

Save money. There are stylists that do have a higher price point but sometimes high price doesn't always reflect quality. My complaint is there are not always consistent reminders about appointments. Sure, it's on the client to remember but it's a courtesy thats not really offered here esp if there's strict policies. It seems everyone has different experiences here, some great, some not so great. It was very difficult to both schedule a consult AND appointment. There was a lot of calling back and forth, scheduling plus rescheduling. I booked 2 appointments, a consult but had to lock in another one (understandable). This was not the case when I first had this type of appointment. I assumed in the new appointment, I had a bigger window for my actual appointment, but it didn't go through due to my own scheduling issues and their policies, thus it was canceled and time wasted on both ends.

Kelly is the only professional in the cities I will let near my hair. I walk out delighted every time.

Another great local business with young entrepreneurs that love what they do. After meeting the staff I felt very comfortable and Mike did a great job figuring out what I wanted and conversing with me. I highly recommend these guys! Another plus is location. 612 brewery is downstairs and Spyhouse Coffee shop is next door for all your beverage needs before or after the cut.

I have followed my stylist here, and I m glad she made the switch! Her first salon was nice, but cold and uptight. I hated going there, and my hair suffered because I didn t go in as often as I should have.

That being said, Steller is a COMPLETE 180 from that other salon. The esthetic is modern but cozy, and the stylists and staff are are lovely people that genuinely want you to enjoy your experience. I can t tell you how awesome it feels to put all your trust in a stylist and get nothing but the BEST hair every. single. time.

I ve been blonde, super blonde, dark brown, red, and everything in between. Erika is always thinking about my hair health and my wallet so I don t leave with a bald head and an empty piggy bank.

A side note- the owner is wonderful. I have a service dog, and the staff has always been super accommodating and they don t bother him like many people want to do. Katie also heard about a charity event for my service dog company, and offered to donate to the cause! Think of the magical things that could be done in this world if every business owner thought this way!

While I may not always get in regularly, I m always treated right and welcomed back. Regardless of your hair dreams, check them out. You will not regret it.

After bopping around to several different salons when I first moved to the Twin Cities, I finally found this place. I've always been well taken care of at this salon. Their stylists are incredibly talented, and they really care about you being happy with how your hair looks. One thing- because they are so amazing, be sure to book far in advance, because time slots fill up quickly!

Got soooooo many compliments on my haircut today! Alaina gives me the best hair cut every time, and its rad that I can just say "the usual"! Steller rules!

My wife and I love going here, because we get exactly what we need, every time. I recommend this place to all my friends, because I trust the professionals at Steller. I personally think, the reason why this place is so great is because of the way the current management treats their employees and their patrons; I wish more businesses would offer such stellar customer service!

I was excited about getting a new haircut from such well-reviewed salon. I had my appointment at 4:15, then the salon called to say the stylist was running late and if I would be okay with coming in at 4:45. I understood that and was totally okay. But once I got there on time, I sat and waited for 25 minutes. The worst part is that the time I took waiting felt longer than the actual service. I had asked for a fresh trim, to freshen up my hair and cut away split dry ends. I came out having shorter hair, extremely choppy ends and not happy about the style. Mind you my hair was still damp. The stylist barely interacted with me or created a welcoming environment. The people at the salon were very nice and friendly and I appreciated this on my first visit. I ended up paying full price and left tips too for something I didn t feel good about. I m not sure if the time I chose was just a reason that the stylist was tired and that reflected the work she did.

Overall, I will not be coming back after my first visit. I ve never been so disappointed in a hair service like today.

Steller is such a fantastic place, that I tell everyone they should go here. The atmosphere at the salon is so inviting and empowering. All of the ladies are incredibly friendly, and I always have amazing service when I go.

I have been seeing Felicia for several years, and she is my girl. She always has me leaving looking so good. I've been dying my hair red for over 4 years, and I have so much fun getting to explore the different ideas that Felicia has to switch things up. I completely trust her. My hair is healthier than it has ever been, and always looks amazing. She is so kind, and I truly consider her my friend. She really takes an interest in my hair and my life! Also, her styling always has my hair looking super cute when I leave!

I cannot say great enough things about Steller Hair Company! Felicia is my stylist and has been nothing but great! My hair has never been so healthy and perfectly colored as it is when she cares for it! When I moved to Minneapolis I was extremely nervous about having someone new do my hair - I have simply been blown away by her work! Also, the atmosphere is amazing - they welcome you with a candy bowl and La Croix or water, their chairs are comfy, the artwork is pretty, the staff are all fun, and I simply love going here! I would highly recommend coming here and seeing Felicia!

Steller is a fantastic salon. I was never the kind of person who went to real salons before Steller - I felt like I wouldn't fit in or know what to say, but the stylists at Steller are top notch, and they make you feel right at home. They know all the trendiest techniques, but you don't have to be interested in that to fit in there.

Everyone I've met here have all been very nice and beyond helpful. Not to mention the fact that I'm always happy with my haircut.

I have been going to Steller for about 3 or 4 years and have had regular cuts by 3 of the stylists. The first 1st stylist stopped taking me altogether after over a year because they were too busy. The 2nd had never cut a graduated bob before and I ended up with a terrible chunky haircut that I was willing to overlook and went back to get it fixed. The 3rd was the most expensive at $60, and totally F@*&ed up my head. I got a lopsided pixie with an undercut that is an actual inch off from being symmetrical. The fade on the undercut is really chunky, not smooth. For a year I have been showing my current stylist pictures of the hair I wanted and talking about how to get it styled like I wanted. Every cut seemed to get further away from what I thought I was communicating. Even if the cut was good, Steller is too busy for 2 week trim/4 week cut, as I had to wait 3-4 weeks for trims and 6-8 weeks for cuts. I'm never going back.

Best Salon in the city. Everyone is so nice and personable and good at what they do. Love it here.
