We recently stayed at this venue for a motorcycle ...
We recently stayed at this venue for a motorcycle safety conference Sept. 21-25, 2016. It was disappointing on every level. First PRIORITY: VERY UNSAFE HOTEL WITH MINIMAL TO ZERO SECURITY. First night we checked in, we got into our rooms rather late. It was after 11pm. There was no water in the room (complimentary or for purchase). So, I walked down the hallway to buy a bottle of water from the vending machine. There was an odd man in the hallway who looked over his shoulder at me as I left my room. I stopped in the vending area on the 4th floor to purchase a bottle of water--after swiping and authorizing credit card, the machine flashed SOLD OUT for the water. At that time, the odd looking man circled back and entered the vending area asking me if i could help him with directions. He said he got lost in the hotel. I told him it was my first night in and pointed for him to back away from me. He walked away and I circled down the stairs to the 3rd floor to try to buy a bottle of water from the machine there. No luck--sold out on the 3rd floor. In fact, every vending machine I tried (all 4 floors) was sold out of water. So, I walked down to the hotel about to complain or ask for a bottle of water when before I got to the desk I saw a Chevron gas station outside, within walking distance, so I just decided to buy water from there. As soon as I walked outside and crossing over to the gas station I saw 5 different homeless people. And, guess what? The guy roaming around the 4th floor who approached me in the vending area in the hotel, was now outside panhandling for money with another woman outside the Chevron! Not kidding. I bought water from Chevron and returned to my room. Walked right in the front door of the hotel--this s after 11pm--not a guard in sight. Not an employee to ask if i had a room there. Not a card swipe to access the front door. Literally anyone can walk right in this hotel--and they did. As soon as I got in the room I called the front desk to report a the security threat. There was a problem with the phone--she had a hard time hearing me and I could barely hear her. I kept having to repeat myself. The lady at the front desk, Ali, argued with me saying the hotel was secure. I asked to make a report and she said she could not do that. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was only a night supervisor to speak to. So, I asked to speak to the supervisor, She placed me on hold and in the process I was disconnected. Since it was after 11:30pm at that time I just went to bed. The room was SO LOUD--nearly on top of a freeway. So loud--ALL NIGHT LONG cars speeding across the bridge. Our room looked down at the backside parking lot which had broken glass and 4-5 rusted 40' connex boxes with random furniture and odds and ends thrown on top. It looked like a junk yard.
That first night was the beginning of the worst hotel experience I've had. The motorcycle conference I was attending sent out an email saying to be sure to lock your cars as several trailers and cars had been broken into IN THE HOTEL parking lot and computers, ipads and phones were stolen. It goes on like this the whole week. No security, creamers ran out, the hair dryer broke and they replaced about an hour later (after my hair dried without the dryer). After trying to call the front desk again (to report the broken hair dryer) found the phone receiver had been glued together which probably explained why the desk couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear the desk. Then, the phone stopped all together. I had to walk down to the front desk to report we had no phone. And, the last 2 days we were there--WE HAD NO PHONE. HOW UNSAFE?!
As a female, I felt so unsafe. Couldn't sleep from the noise, from homeless walking the hallways and too nervous to sleep knowing the phone wouldn't even work to call the front desk.
The hotel should issue a full refund for such a disaster of an experience!
