Really wonderful place to spend a few hours. The only thing missing is the option for an audio tour, such as at The National Art Gallery.
You learn so much about the works with the audio tour.

Lots of amazing art to see, an amazing selection of Canadian and other works from around the world like Monet, Tom Thompson, Renoir, and countless more. I went for a impressionist gallery mid Feb and it was lovely. Lots of great things to eat in the dinner or restaurant. The food prices and gift shop are higher but I expected this. Coat check is also available.

Amazing European masters collection, and the ship's downstairs are amazing (don't forget to check it out). I personally am a fan of classic art rather than contemporary, and there is a lot of contemporary.

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is a huge art gallery hosting priceless pieces of art including but not limited to the works of Alberto Giacometti, Lorenzo Bernini and Van Dyck. The staff is very helpful and there is a small coffee shop on the second floor. The ground floor hosts a collection of ship models which is also pretty fascinating. Overall, I will definitely recommend the AGO for a soul trying to get a taste of world culture

Tons to see. You could go weekly for the free Wednesday evenings for a while and still not see everything. Even if you couldn't get an Infinity Mirrors ticket you could see the one introductory exhibit room... Narcissus' Garden

It's just a gorgeous art gallery. Sometimes the lines can be a bit long, but whatever visiting exhibition they have is always worth it. They hooked me with their Ai Weiwei, David Bowie and Outsiders Photography exhibits. So happy this place exists!

had such a good time here, i would come back in a heart beat. God knows i have a love for art. It was wonderful catching up with my daughter here. We bonded and connected even more on a bigger scale.

We were in line for the Infinity Mirrors exhibit at AGO AT 730am when a man on a bicycle came up behind us and snatched my mom s iphone out of her hand and disappeared down Dundas W even though I tried to chase him. We filed a police report down the street at div. 52 and AGO staff and security were absolutely amazing and sympathetic to our situation. A huge thank you to all AGO staff, security, and the manager. We appreciate everything you did for us! Thank you!

From the great new layout - not so new now - to the beautiful Canadian collections and on to the special shows, I am thrilled to be a member. I bring guests all the time. Now that it is a larger gallery it can be overwhelming for some and I recommend you try new areas each visit. There have been artists that I didn't like at one time but finally appreciated. Art is a journey.
More contemporary shows might be of interest - local talent as well as international. Shows like the David Bowie were great and I had no idea they could be so tuned to the audience in the interactive elements of video and music. Reminded me of the past theatrical David Hockney show in the 80's. The same for the Alex Colville show - very rich in experience. I was quite emotional many times. My son brought friends and they all enjoyed the experience. The gift shops afterwards were not too exciting but liked getting a copy of the book to remind me.
Smaller galleries offer intimate viewings of collections and I wonder if visitors might miss them. One painting I saw of a Canadian artist was not there to see on another visit and I couldn't find out where it went - no one seemed to remember it. I think the artist is Wilson... Which brings me back to the need for more Canadian [etc] contemporary work - diverse in interest.
Overall I love the Gallery even more than I did in the past. Membership is great - offers immediacy, support of art in Canada, email postings and the opportunity to take a friend.

Excellent display of some truly great works of art. Sculptures by Rodin and Henry Moore among others, a complete section on indigenous artists, contemporary art work, European masters, and multimedia presentations. Further, each section has ample seating strategically placed to rest one's tired legs and also to sit and admire the displays.

Attractive architecture and great paintings. It's a bit of a maze inside at first but you'll get used to it.

The airflow inside can be limited and therefore feel stuffy in some exhibition rooms.

This is a beautiful place with beautiful art. They have tour guides who take you round the place and give you information about everything there. There is a good cafe on the second floor but it doesn't offer much. They also have a bistro which has an extensive dinner menu and a tapas day menu. As a student you get a discount and pay $11 as long as you can provide a student ID. The place is quiet large so be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Amazing place. Just amazing time that you spend by knowing all the different themes and items you have available to observe and learn from. Well organized, the outside of the building literally blow your mind. A must to do when you are in Toronto.

Came down here during the free touring hours. I was thoroughly amazed at their exhibits. I would definitely come back for a paid exhibit. The gift shop has a bunch of quirky items in it, it is so much fun to go through.

I've been to the AGO for a couple of times so this isn't my first experience but this is my first review for the AGO. I love the AGO and all the art in it so I respect everything in it! It's very relaxing to go through the areas one by one. I mostly enjoyed the Yayoi Kusama's "Let's survive forever" infinity mirror is gorgeous and Yayoi is a must if you are going for the first time. You do need to set up a time for the Yayoi infinity mirror so plan that before hand. It is free with your admission so why not do it? Let me tell you though, you are gonna need a day to roam around the place.

Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. But some, specifically security guards, at the front before you scan your ticket, aren't really nice. I was called out to take my mini backpack and check it into coat check. That was fine, don't mind about that but PLEASE be consistent. I've seen people with full on big backpacks around the museum and I literally don't understand. I get that you are reducing the chance of an accident but all I ask to be consistent. Can you not just single out a person with a small backpack and not call out a person with a big backpack?

So by far, probably the worst experience I've had. It actually kind of ruined my excitement and mood for the rest of the day.

In summary, would I go back? Yes! I love that place but this specific experience just makes me less likely to go.

Great to visit. After a certain time on Wednesday, the museum is free to enter. I had a drawstring bag with me and was asked to carry it throughout the gallery, instead of on my back. My favorite part? Oddly the wooden stairs up to the top level. The stairs are beautifully designed and deceptive on when they will reach a top or landing.

First time to the AGO. Wasn't quite sure what to expect but aside from just observing art they had some activities. The special exhibit is booked for weeks in advance so we were a little disappointed that we couldn't see that but I guess it's just very popular :-)
