The calamari, shrimp and grits and kahlua cheese cake are delicious! Calamari is cooked perfectly and the peppers were just the right amount. Shrimp & grits had great flavor and loved the drizzle. TROY was an amazing server; friendly, polite and comical. We would have given a 5 star BUT I was in HORROR towards the end of the dink g experience. The host and a gentleman were adding plating to two tables when my sister witnessed a fork was dropped on the floor. She notified me and we watched as the host literally picked up the fork and had the AUDACITY to place it at the table setting! I brought it to his attention, and he then removed the dropped fork from the table and supposedly replaced it. (But the kitchen is in the back of the restaurant and I didn t notice any silverware in the corridor for service sooo... draw your own conclusion. I personally think he placed the same dirty silverware on the table) Check your dishes prior to eating.

This is a next level dining place. Fresh sushi, great lobster risotto. I always love the deserts. Butter cake is great. They rotate the options often which had me missing some of the other deserts. Hope the brownies are back by next visit.

Went here on a Friday night no wait .. the food was so good I went to sleep dreaming about it. The servers were really nice and prompt. I tried to go again Saturday lol the wait was an hour. I wanted to cry because I literally had my mouth watering for it. I suggest you make reservations for a table. Love it. Would definitely go again any time I m in Atlanta

Me and a good friend ran across this place in DTATL. Its seemed like a great spot as the decor and ambiance is very nice. Our problem with "Ray's in the city" came when it was time to meet our server. She seemed very rushed and impatient as if we were taking up her time by dining there. The server was rude didnt ask how we were doing, if we needed menus, have we been here before, nothing even remotely close to customer service. Remind you there were about 8 patrons in the restaurant. After sitting for 15mins with out being greeted we had to ask for a few things like water, and eating utensils, a drink menu etc...once we got a chance to order we were left to eat our food which looked and tasted amazing. I ordered the crab cake with asparagus and mashed potatoes. DELICIOUS!!!! After finishing our meal we sat and talked for a minute, this is when we noticed problem/discrimination part#2 a large group of Latinos came and set down in the both next to us. Their server came up with a smile on his face, excited and friendly. When he came up he greeted the table and asked have you all been here before. The table replied with a no and he then welcomed them to Ray's. He then went on to explain to them what kind of restaurant Ray's was, what they offer etc... apparently there is a whole spill Ray's does when your a first time patron..I felt completely left out I even told my friend "I want to go sit at their table" as I was trying to overhear the waitress spill . I'm not sure if the color of your skin determines what type of service you receive at "Ray's in the city" or if you even get greeted at all, but that day it certainly seemed like it. My friend and I are African American Iraq war vets, who have served and protected our country and every race in it. It makes me sick to my stomach that we still get stereotyped because of our skin color. I'm sure when they took our African American $200 money its was to their liking. Long story short, if you looking for a fun night on that town with good food and great customer service and money isn't an option go somewhere else. Because "Ray's in the city" doesn't have it.

It was Saturday evening and we had a large group of 10. We had been rejected by two or three restaurants because we didn t have reservations prior to showing up. Rays was very welcoming and accommodated us without any issues and very promptly. I was also Very pleased with our dining experience and the service was exceptional! Special thanks to Danielle our waitress.

Mercury is an amazing waiter . We are visiting from ny and besides the great service at Rays in the City , where we had a wonderful lunch , he gave us some great recommendations for the time that we are visiting Atlanta.

Everything was delicious and wait staff was phenomenal and on top of our parties needs! If you are looking for a swanky seafood joint in the city and are willing to pay for quality, this place is for you.

We just left from a wonderful time at Rays in the City! The food was great and perfectly priced. They also had excellent deals on a nice selection of wine. Chaianne was our server and she was amazing. It is so nice to have great service from someone who takes pride in what they do. She made our night! We will definitely be back!

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Not only was the food amazing, that service was out of this world. I was suffering from a migraine and Troy took it upon himself to make me feel better. He offered me ginger ale and when he
Brought it he accompanied it with a coke cause caffeine has been know you reduce the pain. Thanks so much! And Destiny was very polite and sweet!

Amazing quality food. Savory, delicious. Light and fulfilling. Shrimp, scallops, Linguini Heaven. Server was on point and attentive. Dress code casual friendly, or you can come her on lunch from work. In any case. I will be back. Well Done Rays. Well done. Xo

Excellent restaurant!!! The food was to die for, I had the salmon and my husband had the broiled platter, amazing! We sat at the bar so the live band was right behind us!! Pricey but worth every penny! Con: $20 parking for one hour!!

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing.
As soon as my wife and I entered the restaurant we we greeted with attitude. Secondly our waitress was rude and snappy. Then when we got are drinks we started to just relax ignoring the first impression of the staff and to our amazement my wife was drinking out of a totally filthy cup, I mean filthy. We talked to the manager who said the cup just needed polished, I told him you have to wash it first before you polish it. Then it looked like the Marta station let out inside the restaurant, I waved the manager over again and asked if their was a dress code and he said yes, its just not enforced. Then We left. Very uncomfortable to be around all the street walkers, didnt want to catch anything from the filthy dish ware. So then I went to Capital Grille and had a great night and the best steak ever.

Absolutely amazing! I dare to say that everything on the menu is delicious - good portions, great flavors and reasonable prices. A very funky little place in a great spot in Nelson. You can choose to sit outside by the street, inside where it's all happening or out back in a little courtyard.

I will have to say I was doubtful that Ray's in the City would live up to its reviews but I was corrected. As we were nearing Atlanta there was no soul food to be found. We arrived about an hour too late for it was Sunday and the food places were closed.

So we search downtown and this establishment comes highly recommended. They get us a last minute rezy, and we proceed.

This was literally the best Shrimp & Grits I have ever eaten. My children don t even like grits!!!!! They do now!!!!!!!

My server T was on point and the kitchen hooked it up like a Bobby Flay throw-down!!! Norah and I absolutely adored the Gumbo! The Caesar was great, the Deep Fried Brussels also we re accompanied by Deep Fried Cauliflower, nice touch They let me order just two oysters (I don t like a full dozen) which were fantastic and had a delicious mignonette.

To start I had a Fig Old Fashion which sipped quite well and literally paired with everything! All desserts were the bomb and Lilly definitely approved. I asked for a recommendation on pairing for dessert and they just brought me a Tawny Port as if they were in my mind!!! I appreciate the confidence to not ask me again, but just bring me your recommendation.

Truly 5 stars all the way!!!! If you are ever in Atlanta and want a safe bet, come here!!!! And get the shrimp and grits!!!!!!

Thank you also for letting my children dance and feel normal for a bit. We love you and will be back

We came here for Thanksgiving and overall we enjoyed ourselves. The service was great and for the most part the food was decent. The only thing we were disappointed in were the desserts. The apple pie and pecan pie were really good, while certain items such as the lemon bars were not up to par.

Eat there when I am in town
Disappointed tonight

Tonight pieces of bacon, bartender said it was kitchen fault and nothing she can do about it

So I didn t get to eat my salad and still paid $25 dollars for it

The service here is absolutely terrible!!! I normally eat at the Rays on the River but tried the city bc I just left the Super Bowl. The hostess, Alex (that s if they told me the truth about her name!) was down right rude and had no regard for paying customers. She actually lied and said I tried to touch her bc she was obviously mad that she had to work. She asked my party if everyone was available and I said yes we just have one person in the bathroom and she grabs the menus and starts walking to a table. My party and I proceeded to follow her and she turns around after we walk all the way to the table and says this table is not for u. At this point, I m a little frustrated bc she did not communicate anything to us and just had us following her for no reason so I adressed my frustration and she says are you touching me? I had absolutely not come in no physical contact with her. Then I try to explain to the man behind the hostess desk who proclaimed to be the manager whom advised me he would take care of it. After finally being seated, we waited a while to get our food and was asked once if we needed anything. Once we received our food, the salad clearly had brown pieces in it and my risotto was almost cold. The waiter never came back to the table. We left and I attempted to speak to the manager again and asked for his name.
He said he was not telling me anything and that if I ever touched his hostess again there would be a problem. I was completely taken back bc he was totally unprofessional and accused me of something he had no proof of and was a flat out LIE. Clearly, his unhappy hostess is obviously mad she has to work and doesn t like dealing with customers. I really can t believe the treatment we received this night. Unprofessionalism at its finest!!!! I really hope the owner of this establishment knows what kind of ppl he has working there. I frequent restaurants very often and this is literally the worst customer service I ve seen in my life!!!

Nice place for dinner, no matter what the occasion. A group of colleagues and I landed at this place for work while working in Atlanta. Seems like a happy hour go-to place for some of the locals.

Items in the menu can vary from flashy (Seafood tower) to traditional pasta dishes. I had the pork chop and was very pleased with the presentation and taste.

Food was phenomenal, as were the drinks. The Kentucky Mule I ordered was delicious, as was the medium-rare New York Strip.

The only downside was the noise level. We had six people at our table, and spent the night split into two or three conversations, simply because it was nearly impossible to hear the people across the table. As a result, it was a less-than-ideal spot for our business dinner. A shame, given the high quality of the food.

I was here about a month ago with some co-workers, we were in town for a work event. We had our reservation at 7p and the Ray's team was ready to go. We started out with a variety of appetizers and drinks, everything was prompt and service was spot on. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the drinks were flowing like crazy (thank God for Lyft, cause we all needed it). I had the rib eye steak with a side of shrimp. I wish the steak was cooked a little less, I ordered medium and it was closer to medium well. No fault to theirs, this is just me being picky. Our server, I believe his name was Brian, he has been working there for quite some time... he handles business and make sure everyone is satisfied. The last thing you need is to spend $2K on dinner and everyone walks away questioning why we even ate there - not the case it all with Ray's in the City.
The only reason why I wouldn't come back to Ray's in the City, is because there are SO MANY great places to eat in ATL, I would feel like I am missing out on something. However, I would be quick to make a recommendation - everyone should give it a shot!

I can't say the food was good or bad...I came into the restaurant and no one came to greet us to have a seat or even to say ...you can sit anywhere. We waited there for 10 minutes before just walking out. It would have been our first time visiting there and I am a foodie, so I'm sure there would have been something good that I could've tried. They just need to make sure to attend everyone that comes into their establishment.

Great upscale atmosphere and a staff that wants you to be safe and enjoy yourself. They accidentally threw out my mom's steak leftovers, so with no hesitation they brought her a new steak that's going above and beyond with service!

Service and food preparation was HORRIBLE! I look forward to eating here every time I'm in Atlanta, but this was my last time! It was so bad, the management adjusted our check, as well as several other tables around us. Unfortunately I will no longer recommend...

Food was good. The server was quite condescending in his delivery. Having a background in the hospitality I understand the frustration that comes with a certain type(my demographic)... Although, we'll never admit that those stereotypes exist in our industry, they do.. but we must put those feelings to the side and get the job done. With that being said, I wouldn't suggest Mercury, his vibes weren't very welcoming and just didn't live up to any of my experiences here or on the River. So disappointing...

Very disappointed! Traveled 3 hours from Knoxville Tennessee to celebrate Mother s Day with my family. Crab legs were listed on the buffet menu however not served. Recommend that you request to be seated on the buffet side to prevent from walking through the crowd who s waiting to be seated with your plate in hand...Very uncomfortable. Also, request not to be seated at the oval booth for it s not convenient for buffet diners to have people in party to constantly have to get up to let you out to experience the other food selections. Coffee took a while for they ran out of coffee cups and also ran out of bowls for the seafood gumbo. My son ended up using a plate and I did not get any. The staff were courteous and friendly. My favorite was the freshly made omelette and coconut cake.
