Atmosphere is a great, intimate setting. All staff were wonderful, food was superb.
We received a cute little happy anniversary card that was such a nice touch.
Danny was such a gentleman & did an awesome job taking care of us!

Chaianne is an excellent waitress who made my first time here a pleasure. The food is also very tasty. They are going to stop serving seafood in January 1st 2020. So hurry and stop by if you want to try their bomb sushi rolls

Overrated! I been there twice and was not impressed by the food at all. My favorite restaurant is Chops and Lobster Bar and they set the bar high so I m not use to food that is just okay in taste and regular customer service! Total disappointment!!!!

Ray's in the City is an expense account standby -- great location on Peachtree, solid food, and the usual prices in a quite nice atmosphere with professional service. We are Atlantans but, hankering for some fish on a Saturday night, headed downtown and we had a nice time. the tuna was good quality and rare and the trout was very lovely, although quite salty. Won't hurry back but seems like a solid standby.

Great place! Went there over the weekend for my friend's birthday dinner. Once inside, everything is beautiful. Getting there is a little tricky as it is very easy to miss. It's literally across the street from CVS. If you see Bank of America, you've passed it and in that case, make a right at the next light, look for the parking deck to your immediate right, and walk; it's not that far. There is valet available but it's CASH ONLY. Food, service, ambience, everything was great, but I think they need to put some energy into signage so people can find them better.

Very disappointed! Traveled 3 hours from Knoxville Tennessee to celebrate Mother s Day with my family. Crab legs were listed on the buffet menu however not served. Recommend that you request to be seated on the buffet side to prevent from walking through the crowd who s waiting to be seated with your plate in hand...Very uncomfortable. Also, request not to be seated at the oval booth for it s not convenient for buffet diners to have people in party to constantly have to get up to let you out to experience the other food selections. Coffee took a while for they ran out of coffee cups and also ran out of bowls for the seafood gumbo. My son ended up using a plate and I did not get any. The staff were courteous and friendly. My favorite was the freshly made omelette and coconut cake.

Classy restaurant with great food and wonderful staff. Right from the entrance, we were greeted, ushered to our table and attended to courteously and dedicatedly. Our waitress, Telsa was really nice to talk to and offered good advice on the menu offerings since we weren't too familiar with them.

Ray s serves a very good meal with friendly service. My dish was the Bank Scallops with a salad and the mushroom side. I think just about anything on the menu would be cooked to perfection. I had the wonderful key lime pie for dessert.

I felt well attended. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The scallops were perfectly prepared (I chose blackened) and the mushrooms were exquisite.

It s not cheap eats, I spent almost $100 for one person by the time I left, tip included.

But if you are in the market for a higher end meal, Ray s In the City is a good choice.

So we went on thanksgiving Day and man did they have a spread. Everything you'd expect for Turkey Day then some extras like shrimp and mussels table with smoked salmon nearby. My favorites were the collards, the salmon croquettes where I added the smoked salmon to it.
Nice downtown restaurant though I have a feeling this wasn't there typical more upscale crowd. Could be all the New Orleans football fans in town for Falcons game.
I can't really comment on service because this is a white cloth restaurant and the staff is trained for that environment and not for a buffet even though it was $50 a head.

Went here for a business soire. Pre dinner cocktails were phenomenal. Darlene must have a PhD in mixology! She know how to make a Manhattan, Up, and Buffalo Trace is their well bourbon. Amazing! Then, our waiter, Juwan, sold us on the hot seafood tower, and was extremely efficient in getting our food out. Ray's on the City is a consistent standby for group dinners. Thanks!

Lovely drinks in a lovely setting. The staff were courteous and attentive. All the seafood dishes were fabulous. If you order beef, order it one shade cooler than usual - the kitchen staff consistently overcooked all the steaks at the table by one category. However, the quality of the meat was outstanding.

The Shrimp Scampi and Seafood Platter here is to die for. Service here is always amazing. Steven has to be the best bartender on this planet and I cannot forget about my favorite hostess Teresa. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Ray s is a must whenever we are in Atlanta. The food and staff are all excellent, especially Danielle. She was so friendly and attentive during our last visit. Bummed they are no longer serving sushi (because it was wonderful), but the rest of the menu is still fantastic! Everything we ve had there has been great.

Thanksgiving take out late post- family is just leaving town. We ordered Ray s Thanksgiving dinner to go. The portions were great for our family of 5 the quality was amazing and the instructions made it so simple that we actually were able to spend time with each other rather than cooking!
The young lady that took our to go and delivered it to our car gave great reception.

Omg! I must say, this by far was one of the best restaurants I ve been to lately. The food was amazing, but the service was the staple of the evening! Our server, Ms. T, was one of the most engaging, sweet, personable, and professional people that I have met. Ray s in the city sold the food and Ms. T definitely sold the overall experience! Thank you!

My husband and I choose Rays in the city to celebrate our 10 yr wedding anniversary and I have to say we were disgusted. First there was something stuck in my water glass but I knew my husband wasn't going to drink his water so I took his. No big deal! Fast forward to our dinner my steak comes out with chewing gum stuck to the side of the plate which I didn't see and stuck my hand in. That put a damper on our evening! I called this morning and spoke to management and asked do they wash the dishes. Rather than being solution oriented he ask me what did I want him to do while studdering telling me that nothing like that has never happened before and that the dishes are washed thoroughly. (I find this hard to believe) and that he wasn't told of this situation last night. I was told to ask for him the next time we come back. We won't be back!

Atmosphere was OK, but oysters and cold seafood platter were only fair lobster was flavorless and tough, east coast oysters were the saltiest I ve had, and the west coast oysters were puny. The server was friendly but not genuine and not did not provide a very sophisticated experience. And, finally, they have this bill that is digital that requires you to swipe your own card. I found that kind of lame since that is typically an experience reserved for places like Applebee s or Smokey Bones.

All of this in the face of gross price inflation. Would not recommend, will not be back.

Nice place and the food is consistent and pretty good. The menu is seafood heavy and they have a separate menu for sushi (odd that the sushi menu is not provided automatically). Not the best steak and seafood I have ever had but consistently decent food so if you're in the city and want a good meal, try this place.

The wait staff were very attentive and pleasant. The food was extremely tasty!! While the prices are on the high side, you get a lot of food. The quiet relaxed atmosphere will transport you away from the bustle of the city while you enjoy your meal.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday and were sat immediately, which was nice. However I experienced one of my pet peeves again which was mostly empty water glasses almost the entire meal. Seriously, this past weeked for me was the weekend of terrible service, it was ridiculous.

It took our watiress about 5 minutes from when we ordered a water, for her to bring the water. Then the food was just not as good as I've had at the Ray's in Alpharetta. We split the Oysters Rockefeller, which are really rather excellent, so that was okay and then I got the Parmesan Scallop salad and the scallops were good, but a little cold for being just cooked, and the dressing on the salad was pretty awful. I like some orange flavored dressings, but this one had a weird spice in it that was kind of spicy, I don't know, but the flavor was terrible and I did not enjoy the salad.

Overall, I was unimpressed with this Rays. I don't believe I'll ever come back to this location.

All the waiters there had this sarcasm almost as if they really didn t care. As a server I have personally never seen where no one in there smiled. We asked a waiter from another section for bread because our server never even asked if we wanted any so we didn t know they had bread and the server told us we weren t in his section. At any job it s about team work and you say to customers that you re basically not going to help because we aren t your table. Never heard of this in life. After a short conversation he agreed to tell our waiter. We ordered oyster RAW that came out about 10 mins after the cooked appetizers. One order of oysters took longer to come out. Later we found out the oysters came on dry ice which we were shorted again. He said he didn t know there was any left. 5 ppl right after us got the experience. If that was the case you ask if there is any left not make us wait on something that doesn t even need to be cooked and under deliver. My sisters steak was over cooked they immediately took care of it without discussion and she got the replacement that was under cooked and sent back and corrected. Our waiter did over hear my sister in pain and gave her some butters to help with her chest pain. Other than the rest of the poor service the food was great. Oysters were fresh and overall we still enjoyed ourselves.

We came for Thanksgiving as we always go to Ray's for Holidays. I have to say that this year beat the buffet- we LOVED everything. Each course was delicious and hot and packed with flavor. Kudos to the chef and our server Brenda she was so sweet and professional. Thanks Ray's for another amazing Thanksgiving.

Ray s in the city is a quaint and elegant surf and turf restaurant found in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The ambiance is one of old world southern charm mixed with big city elegance a rare combo, but, one that is successfully pulled off by Ray s. While enjoying my stay at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta just across West Peachtree street from this restaurant. I had the opportunity to enjoy dining at Ray s in a City a few times. I particularly savored the Black Grouper which is a house specialty and the Petite Filet Magnon both of which were cooked to a succulent exactness and prepared to culinary perfection, all the while, light jazz is wafting from the rafters. All and all an enjoyable experience. I consider Ray s in the City one of the best surf and turf I have enjoyed second only to Salty s in Seattle and various seafood eats found in the San Diego and Monterrey areas.

Ray's In the City is quietly tucked away in the heart of downtown Atlanta on Peachtree Street. With all of the hustle and bustle of downtown, it's easy to miss. Ray's boasts some great daily lunch specials that range from about $8 to $15. My personal favorite is the shrimp po' boy sandwich. Of course, the full menu is also available. (Be sure to try the crab cakes.)

Ray's also has live music every weeknight. Not sure about the weekends. I have not been disappointed by any of the artists who have graced the stage.

Whether you are looking for to simply step away from the hectic office life and enjoy a real lunch or woo your significant other over some smooth jazz music and dim lighting, Ray's has got you covered. So glad that there is one in the city.

P.S.: But if you really want to woo her, check out Ray's on the River, especially on a night when the sky is clear.

Horrible! We went out last night and it was $200 for four of us. We got 2 seafood platters and the lobster was puny, the salmon was over cooked, the crab cake was awful and the rice not edible. My son got the Delmonico steak and it was no better than a home cooked steak. The best item we got was the shrimp cocktail appetizer but at $20 for 4 was way overpriced. You would be better off to go Outback and Red Lobster! You would get more food and it would taste better!

Went to Rays in the City to celebrate a birthday. It s in downtown Atlanta and parking can be an issue but they validate the parking if you park at the America s mart parking structure in building two.

The ambience is classy and elegant. They sat us in the wine room because we had a larger group. We ordered drinks and appetizers. I got the Mai Tai and it was pretty good and worth the price. It was very well done. The New Orleans BBQ Shrimp ($15) were delicious. I highly recommend it. Our waiter said the chef was from New Orleans and the shrimp showed it.

For dinner, I ordered the Salmon Oscar ($38) and it was well done, flavorful, and filling. If I were to go back, I would definitely order it again.

Our waiter was very kind, knew his stuff and very accommodating with our requests.

Verdict: Go for a very special occasion. Other than a special occasion, there are other places with the same quality for less and more convenient in terms of parking/location.

Yummy

Food was amazing, atmosphere was great. Waiter not so much. He started great, super cheerful, kept our glasses full. However, it went downhill when it came to the checks. It took almost 45 minutes to pay our bills, nothing was adding up right and he got so frustrated with the bills on the third time he went back to adjust the amounts he punched the wall. He took two bills and charged the wrong bill to the wrong cards. It made the ending of a good night super awkward. Great food though would definitely recommend the seared tuna.
